An absolute gem of a little restaurant, been three times now, a really good menu and everything we've had so far has been exceptional and well priced, the staff are friendly polite and helpful and the dining room is quiet inviting and comfortable. Can't recommend highly enough.

We have never felt more at home at a restaurant. The ambiance, the food and the wonderful hostess made our anniversary meal so special. Thank you for that friendly, family run feel. The people who work there obviously love their job. The food was perfect and so flavoursome, they must use good quality, Italian ingredients.

Outstanding service, from the greeting to paying the bill! Amazing job from the staff, felt incredible welcome and had lovely chats during the visit. Food was superb! The kitchen really knew what they were doing so big ups to the chefs! Pasta 10/10. The only thing I regret is not taking my girlfriend here, but I know where to take her now!

Right to start off this review I will say the spicy garlic bread was fab and our main was okay. As the restaurant is quite small the atmosphere is very busy which is no fault to the owner at all. However on that note, we had a very rude interaction with one of the waitresses, I believe her name is Christina. From the start of when we were coming in to the end of our experience we found her very condescending, patronising and absolutely distasteful. She was very different in the way she greeted new customers compared to her usual repeating customers which I think is very offensive to new customers coming in hoping to get a nice greeting but are instead welcomed with horrible manners. I have read another review that contains a similar interaction we have had with this specific lady. Every other waitress and waiter was absolutely lovely and we had no problem with them at all. She was also rude to her fellow waitresses which was very distressing to witness and made our experience uncomfortable. For instance while we had another waitress adding pepper onto our meal she had walked passed hastily and by doing so she pushed the waitress and didn’t look back to say sorry to her and also while we were eating we could hear her being condescending to her fellow staff members and talking to them as if they understood no english. We also had customers sat on a table near us and they were east asian and I could see that they also felt uncomfortable with this lady. They had got their food but they were just taking pictures of themselves as anyone is entitled to but she had walked past and told them that ‘food is for eating and not taking pictures’ which we found so awfully rude as she was rushing them to eat and she kept moving items around in their table while they were trying to take pictures which was absolutely unnecessary. I can understand that your restaurant is busy all the time however unless you guys specify that customers must eat at a timed manner, people can eat at their own pace. I do think it was racially motivated as we were both the only ethnic people in the restaurant and the difference between the way she spoke with us compared to the caucasian customers was a diabolical difference. I do think you guys need to look into this specific waitress as she needs to reevaluate the way she speaks to customers especially the ethnic minority. We did not enjoy our time here as first timers and this has put us off from visiting again unfortunately and I really do wish this is looked into for future customers.

Justine was absolutely amazing, so caring and kind, came here for a date and had fresh bread with the olives which was great and I had salmon pasta which was amazing, deffo recommend:)

Visited to celebrate a friends birthday. It's pretty cramped, or cosy some might say. The food was lovely. However the service was poor, which they did acknowledge. Can't fault the chefs, just disorganised everywhere else. Prices are about right.

Very nice intimately Italian restaurant. The food was very good and the staff were attentive and friendly.

We visited this restaurant today to inquire whether it would be open on Christmas Day and how to make a reservation. Upon entering, the service we received was extremely poor. A blonde-haired waitress asked us to stand by the entrance, and while we stood there without obstructing anyone, she insisted that we wait outside. Despite the freezing cold weather, we waited outside for about 3-4 minutes before she finally came out to ask what we needed. When we explained our request, she was visibly impatient and curtly told us to call or book online. I mentioned that my birthday falls on Christmas Day, and I wasn’t sure if reservations would be possible for that day. Her response was to loudly and rudely exclaim "Jesus!" before repeating again to book online without addressing my question. As a potential customer, this interaction was extremely disappointing and made me feel unwelcome. I’m now concerned that my birthday experience might be just as unpleasant if I were to celebrate it here. Upon checking social media, I noticed one comments that this same blonde waitress has reportedly displayed similar rude behavior specifically toward Chinese customers, which raises serious concerns about potential racial discrimination. This behavior is unacceptable and has significantly tarnished my impression of the restaurant.

I was curious because it was always busy, but I finally visited. I really enjoyed the meal. They were very friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was nice. I want to visit again.

Great place for private parties

First visit, no doubt we will be returning frequently. The customer service from all staff was absolutely exceptional, first of all. We came in for a very last minute walk-in and the food was sublime. The staff truly go the extra mile. By FAR the best dining experience I’ve had.

This little gem of an Italian restaurant deserves top ratings. From friendly staff, great food and relaxed atmosphere, it’s so nice to find a truly independent, quality place to eat. Best risotto I have tasted, and good wine! It’s the sort of restaurant that is getting harder to find. We’ll be back!

We visited for my husbands 50th birthday and we all had a brilliant night,the food was amazing and the staff are so friendly and make sure you're looked after,the atmosphere is very relaxed, its the perfect place for couples and families to have a nice meal out together.It's a little bit on the expensive side but I've got to say it's well worth it

We popped in without a reservation but they managed to accommodate us! Everything we got was delicious and we loved every detail. The garlic bread was my favourite! My husband loved the lasagne, very creamy and cheesy.. The dessert was amazing, unlike any other cheese cake we’d had before!

It was overall quite nice. I didn't enjoy my main, it just wasn't to my taste. Not a bad experience, just average.

I ordered lasagna for the first time in piccolos today, but it's too creamy for me. When the blonde haired waitress asked me how's it, I said that it was too creamy to my taste. But only to me doesn't mean it's bad. Before I finished talking, she shouted at me very angrily, "if you don't like Lasagna then why did you order lasagna?" Every lasagna I had in other restaurants was good. I said it's my first time to order it here. She still stressed that it's my fault. The owner replied me but the previous negative comment was removed by them. Here is the picture of owners comment, and the truth is we paid all dishes which can be checked on my bank. You can see the owner kept saying it's my mistake and do not agree that everyone has different taste. I feel if you can't accept customers reviews and improve yourself, please don't ask if they like the food. You should accept the diversity of customers flavor and respect all customers.

Had to share what a fantastic meal we have had this evening. The staff went above and beyond to fit us in as we had not pre booked, we were so grateful and genuinely lost count how many others were turned away as they were so busy. There were no pitfalls in the blind selection of dishes, especially the recommended desserts which were very delicious and the store staff were also very enthusiastic. On my birthday, they even sang happy birthday to me! ! ! All in all a very pleasant dining experience❤️❤️❤️

4 of us went for a meal Friday 19th brilliant meal fantastic service great place to eat loved it never never had a bad meal yet Go try it !!!!

Accommodated us for a birthday reservation as a party of 4 at less than 24 hour notice on a busy Saturday night - the restaurant is quite small inside so this was appreciated. Food was lovely and quick to come out, both starters and mains (we were too full for desert) and the service was great and very attentive. Ordered garlic prawns for starter and then creamy chicken main with vegetables, chips on the side. Others got gnocchi starter (best dish on our table), bruschetta and mains salmon and a pasta, all were enjoyed. One very small criticism is that for the chicken dishes the chips/potatoes would have been preferred to be presented on the side instead of underneath the sauce, as it made these elements soggy. We will be back if we fancy Italian in Sheffield City Centre.

I first visited Piccolo's a few weeks after they opened in 1998 whilst at university and despite moving away from Sheffield have returned many times over the years introducing as many of my family and friends as possible to this delightful family run italian restaurant. We are always greeted as old friends and looked after as attentively as you might expect in a fine dining Michelin starred establishment. Often when you hear that a place has barely changed in 25 years you would think that was a bad thing but in this case it's a huge recommendation. There have been changes to the menu but the food remains excellent, their garlic bread is appropriately described as award winning. My personal favourite is the Pollo gambaretti, (something I've tried to replicate at home) and their steak dishes are delicious- something I wouldn't take for granted in more budget friendly restaurants Thoroughly recommend, can't wait for the next opportunity to pay then a visit.

Excellent service, friend staff and well run restaurant checking if you want starters, extras deserts and more drinks etc. But the food was disappointing. I had a pizza but it was a ready made base - perfectly round and with those perfectly aligned air holes in the bottom. Toppings weren’t much better and it wasn’t even very big I could hardly finish it. £17 and £6 for a pint of coke I think it was?!

My new favourite restaurant! The restaurant had such a comforting and friendly atmosphere. The staff are amazing, so lovely and attentive. The food was delicious and was served quickly. We tried the tiramisu and the crème brûlée; both were homemade and again delicious! Can't rate this place highly enough. We hope to be back again soon!

7 of us went on a Tuesday early evening. Not one of us had anything negative to say about any part of our time here. The food was absolutely delicious, including the starters and desserts… mother in law said it was the best lasagne she’s ever had, kids had pasta (one spicy tomato and one carbonara) both loved it! One of us had a pizza and the rest of us had pollo picante with different sides - honestly the nicest Italian we’ve had in forever. The food in Limone, Lake Garda doesn’t come close to Sheffields Piccolos! The restaurant has a very homely and welcoming atmosphere, and our waitress Justine was so friendly and polite, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you to the chefs and Justine - we had a brilliant evening here and we’re very grateful xx

Small cozy restaurant in the center of Sheffield. We had the bruschetta as a starter. They are good but it is absolutely not the classic Italian bruschetta. It's more of a big pizza £.8. Then pasta which was good. We asked for them Al dente and we received them as requested £16pp. We drank water, we didn't want wine (we were asked twice). Total for two £56

I really recommend this place. We had a great dinner here and the service was really good. If you want to have an italian evening in Sheffield, this is the place to be.

Food beautiful, the Linguine Frutti Di mare was particularly delicious, every bite there are sea food, and not your usual boring selection, this one had a lot of variety of sea fruit, the way is supposed to be, spicy to the point and proper al dente pasta. On top of that, staff has had beautiful smiles, gentle and caring. First time in Sheffield, loved the hospitality.

Nothing like it used to be. Not been for a few years, and won’t be going back. My Food was mediocre. My partner received wrong meal, waitress blamed us for ordering wrong, which I know for a fact what we ordered. Bad service.

Everyone has been recommending it as a delicious restaurant. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I personally think the main meal is okay, but I don’t like the sauce next to the fish at all. There is nothing special about the other main meal. The only good thing is probably the appetizer. The pizza also comes with free chocolates after checkout, but the service staff is very kind and enthusiastic.

An absolute gem tucked away in the heart of Sheffield. Incredible authentic home made Italian food. We tried the vegetarian pasta, salmon pasta and the vegetarian Calzone; every spoon was a delight. Justyne (hopefully I have spelt her name correctly), together with the rest of the team were delightful hosts. It was our first visit, but won't be our last!
