What a wonderful authentic Ethiopian atmosphere, just like being in Piassa or Arat killo in Addis Ababa. I was amazed by the qualities of the food and by the very welcoming service. Definitely we will come back here. Fisseha/ ፍስሐ

Unique - and very good! - experience in a kind of a industrial area. Cash only, but no service fee! You put what you put. And I think many of us put a few extra!

Decided to go here based on tripadvisor reviews and this time they were spot on. We were more than pleasantly surprised by our whole time in the restaurant. It’s all halal but they do serve alcohol. The server was incredibly friendly and patient with us. It was our first time in an Ethiopian restaurant. We usually prefer Indian/pakistani food, and are less keen on Middle Eastern food, to give you a benchmark. We wanted something different to burgers and kebabs as the halal option. We ordered the meat platter for two. Four Tardis-like meat dishes plus crumbled cheese, (like feta), a (very hot and interesting tasting) chilli sauce and a lot of bread. The hands down favourite was the one that looked like a curry. It was so full of flavour, but not really the flavours we would expect in an Indian curry, (obviously!) There was a raw meat dish which was extremely tasty, but as there was so much meat we asked them to cook it for us, (which was an option from the start). It was flavoured with cardamom and butter. That one took equal second place with the lamb strips with were so tasty. (Watch out for the raw green chilli slices in that one!) Finally was a spinach dish with meat cubes. Also very tasty. The bread was like a soft dosa, but quite a bit thicker. The sharing platter for 2 requires 2 very empty bellies. (We had a doggie bag) Then the coffee ritual. The beans are roasted on site then walked through the restaurant and all the other patrons seemed to enjoy the aroma wafting through. Maybe this is typical of Ethiopian coffee shops? The coffee is very strong served in small cups. Impossible for me to drink without sugar. But with sugar, omg! Still strong, but the faint flavour of cinnamon was apparent. Checked with the server, and yes, it was prepared with cinnamon. The coffee was served with popcorn! Overall 10/10 for food and service. If I didn’t live in Manchester, I would be back tomorrow to try the vegetarian side of the menu.

Visited here for lunch at the food and service was amazing. We asked what they recommended having never eaten Ethiopian food before. We had the mixed meat and veg dish and it was all amazing. We finished with the coffee which again was very tasty and overall a great meal out. The honey wine was delicious as well

Excellent meal and very friendly staff. We had both the vegetarian sharing platter and the meat platter. We ordered too much food but it was all very tasty and well presented. The coffee experience rounded off the meal perfectly. Would definitely recommend.

I’ve never eaten Ethiopian food before. And what an introduction! The Beyaynetu was so incredibly tasty, I loved the variety of dishes all served in the delicious Injera bread (another 1st for me). Next time I’m in Leeds I will definitely be back.

Just called in for a few drinks and was served by a really nice friendly chap called Nigel who couldn't do enough for us. There was also a lovely jolly young woman named Sophie who had us in stitches whilst serving us. They both made us feel very welcome.
