The most delicious food that I think you will taste. The braised ribs and chilli beef are legendary. Been going for over 50 years and could not recommend here enough.

Had a family get together here last night. As usual everything was perfect. The food, the price and service. You can't get better.

Went last night for my birthday with family, luckily we I had booked because it was really busy . Great service , brilliant banquet for 4 and all food lovely AND bring yeh own beers and wine 🍷 is also a bonus , lovely people who work there and the chef works so hard to create gorgeous food when it’s so busy. Needs updating but with service and food like this who cares , be back soon and well done to everyone who works so hard in there it’s really appreciated by us locals who keep returning time and time again .

Surroundings were a little tired and drab but the food was amazing and service attentive. Portion size was massive but flavour and quality first class. Not licences so only soft drinks and tea/coffee. However (unknown to us) you can take your own booze in with you. Two lovely ladies served well as nd were non-stop. Plaudits to the chef(s). Downside is exterior was filthy, inside was tired and a bit shabby. Highly recommend the salt n pepper spare ribs and also the Platter for 2. Loved it !

Best Chinese in Liverpool by a mile, we eat in, but we get a takeaway every Saturday from here, we can’t fault the food, staff are amazing too (The Coopers)

Ordered a take away. The main was fine, but the rice was luke warm. I was charged £9 for the meal, and when I checked the price on the 'updated' menu, It was priced at £8. I don't think I'll be going back......shame, because a lot of people seem to like it.

Fantastic place, a hidden gem. Decor is classic Chinese restaurant, and location is on a busy road near an old pub. The food is always superb, and the tables are always full of hungry punters ready to try the banquet (£23pp), but they all leave with full stomachs. I cannot rate this place highly enough and I'll be devastated when it closes.

As far as I am concerned this is my favourite and best Chinese Restaurant! Lovely family run business. We love the dry ribs, sesame prawn toast, spring onion pancake starters and spring rolls. Or you can get a platter starter for two, which is amazing value. The mains are very generous and enough for two people. We always have food to take home for the next day. You can also bring in your own alcohol. It amazing value for money and the staff our absolutely lovely and have always looked after us. We have been going for over 20 years.

This place is lovely, only little but the staff are very friendly and respectful. The food is the best Chinese’s food iv had. Highly recommend this place

I have been coming here with my family since I was a baby, they have been coming for years before that. The best Chinese meal I've ever had and amazing value for money. If I had to choose my last meal it would be the sweet chili-ginger prawns and fried rice from CHOWS. 10/10 amazing

We love this restaurant and come as often as we can and have been doing so for over 45 years - yes its that good. In fact this visit family members came from afar, East Yorkshire and Milton Keynes plus 8 locals. The food and service is always outstanding I cant recommend it enough, its such good value of money. We have been going to this restaurant for 45 years. The food is superb and staff are the friendliest I have ever come across. We had a takeaway a few weeks ago and despite it having to be transported 40 minutes away it was still lovely and fresh. However, I have been ringing recently and there is no reply, we are really worried about them.

Really wanted to try this place as it came highly recommend, but we couldn't find the menu, so we rang up and they emailed it us within minutes. Food was fantastic, ordered while i was hungry so obviously over ordered, but we ate everything, and happily still in a food coma 24 hours later. Full of flavour and not overly greasy/salty like other places. Would highly recommend

Food extremely good as always and excellent value , one of the best restaurants in Liverpool but one issue which is not good , the downstairs disabled toilet has no electric hand drier only a small towel to dry your hands which gets used and ends up wet , disgusting and unhygenic , perhaps new drier should be fitted same as one n upstairs toilet or maybe supply disposable paper towels

We are a group of 12 friends who try and get together a few times s year for a meal at the Phoenix palace. We have been visiting this restaurant for over 15 years. We have spent birthday and anniversary nights here and just get together times. The food is second to none. We always order the banquet and of course toffee apples at the end. The staff and service are excellent. Take along your own drink and enjoy the evening

Our regular Chinese restaurant had closed down, and somebody recommended the Phoenix Palace, and my god am I glad they did. This Chinese is amazing, the food is excellent, the staff can’t do enough for you, it’s superb, you will not be disappointed.

Been going for over 45 years. Went again on Saturday for my sons 40th. There were 14 of us the restaurant was full. The food spectacular and the service brilliant. Six of the family travelled from Gloucester and two from Edinburgh - why because they say they cant get food like it anywhere else. Thank you Phoenix Palace. Have been eating here for way over 30yrs even in the previous incarnation of Chaus. Excellent food, excellent staff & excellent prices. We drive from Aintree for the food whether eating in or for takeout. Over the years have had several birthdays for ourselves & other family members which have always been catered for. The food you don't eat they will merrily bag up for you take home & enjoy later. Now the grandkids ask to go to Chaus as they also love the food. Take your own drinks & with the Flathouse next door & Bargain Booze down the road what more could you want. Would recommend you try it & don't be put off by the exterior

I booked here for my daughters 21st meal for 35 people.i took along banners and decorations which they put up for .The food and service was absolutely fantastic.they even bagged up all the food which was left over to take home .we had the £19. Discovered it after being recommended by a friend. Seems like the staff know every customer (which I think is a great sign of repeat custom). Food is amazing and is much better than a lot of the more expensive Chinese restaurants. We have been numerous times and will continue to visit this restaurant. Ignore the decoration and you will have a great meal. Portions are huge but staff are always happy for you to take any leftovers home

We have been eating at this restaurant under different guises for 40 years and although the location is to say the least rather testing I have NEVER tasted finer Peking style Chinese cooking than in this unassuming restaurant.I could enthuse over every part of their banquets which for their quality and proportions are almost mind blowing.I travel 36 miles to collect their takeaways-need I say more.I have eaten in Chinatown in London but this is the finest.

This restaurant always serves up great food and never disappointes the £18 pound banquet is brilliant with a good variety within the banquet especially the cold beef starter and sesame prawn toast which is the best I've had anywhere. Please don't let the outside of the restaurant put you off and you can also take your own booze bonus.

Been going to this restaurant for decades and I mean decades !!!! Great value, relaxed atmosphere. Not the best dressed restaurant decor wise but the food is brilliant. Take your own drinks. Great value for money. Going this Friday for a catch up with friends and am salivating already.

Lovely staff & service, £17 each for 7 courses, the food was fab we really enjoy it, they done have a drinks license so you can take your own spirits, larger etc. It's not the nicest decor but don't let that put you off, every where is clean. Would definitely recommend & will be going again.

Food ok but customer service was dreadful from one particular member of staff whose name was Linda,will not be eating there no more and would not recommend this place to family or friends, there are lots of good restaurants in Liverpool and customers don't have to put up with this rudeness.

We as a family have been going to this restaurant for over ten years and never once been disappointed. We have their takeaways most Friday nights and absolutely love it. We have been and ordered from other local Chinese restaurants when this restaurant closes for a month in March every year and bitterly regretted it and rushed back in April for our usual. Our family have tried everything on the menu and not one thing was found wanting. I feel very lucky to have such a good restaurant on my doorstep long may it continue

Not what I expected from a Chinese restaurant but I did enjoy it. I thought the bring your own drinks bit was great as it provided everyone who came with the opportunity to bring a drink of their choosing so everyone was satisfied. The meal itself was lovely I ordered the crispy duck which was a good tasty choice and had a very filling aspect to it. The food overall was great for everyone can't complain on that front.Unfortunately the decor of the place brought it down quite a lot. Parts of the restaurant even looked shady and going to the bathroom made you feel very uncomfortable. But this was the only real issue I had with the place. The meal was great and the staff were friendly just the decor.

Booked for a large 70th birthday party on a Saturday night. Arrived at the restaurant at 6.30 pm and it was very busy. There was also 4 more party's on the same night and the service was to say the least "overstretched". Everyone had to order the banquet and found the food to be average run of the mill basic Chinese food. Nothing special. The time in between each course was ridiculous. To sum the night up we arrived at 6.30 and finally left at 10.10. Way too long in my opinion. Very disappointed and will not book again.

After seeing reviews about Phoenix palace and being a taxi driver taking people to the restaurant and telling me how good it is, I thought me and the wife should give it a go. So glad we did food was amazing. We got the banquet for 2. Could easily have done 4 people every course was freshly made, piping hot, and big portions. At £18 a head well worth it, and we took are own wine and beer, no problem. We,ll be back very soon.

Went for a banquet, the three cold meats were lovely, soup good, ribs and crackers all very good. The duck wasn't good but the mains were and for £18 it's excellent value. You can take your own drinks to save on the cost of eating out too.

We used to eat at this restaurant fairly regularly many years ago and returned this week after a long absence. We'd totally forgotten how fantastic it is. it looks exactly the same as it did years ago i.e. very basic, definitely no frills however the food is just amazing. We regularly eat at Chinese restaurants in various parts of Liverpool but I have to say this is up there with the best and it is most definitely the cheapest. It is a bring your own wine/beer whatever and they don't even charge corkage !!!The portions are huge and cooked to perfection. The duck in orange sauce was the best we have tasted anywhere.Even though we live on the other side of the city its well worth the taxi ride to get here. As it's situated on busy West Derby Road there are taxi's galore going past for getting home.We will be back very soon. In fact now we've rediscovered this great place we'll be back regularly.

Absolutely fantastic food . The outside does not do it justice once your inside the venue is very plain but it doesn't need to be any different , the food says it all . You can take in your own drinks whilst enjoying the amazing food in a nice atmosphere. Staff are always polite and very accommodating . Would highly recommend .

This restaurant was formerely known as Chaus and we have been going to it for 43 years (used to be in Marlborough Road). Devotees will remember Tess, Edna and Sue who used to wait on. Kevin produces magical Chinese food from his small kitchen and his daughters provide a great service friendly, efficient and cannot do enough for customers.The food is really first class and being able to take your own drinks makes the experience affordable to everyone. Yes the outside appearance doesn't look great but please don't let that put you off.We can never finish the banquet there is just so much food but at least you can take the dishes away to finish off the next day.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to this restaurant as it was highly rated on trip advisor. We weren't too sue of the location but knew it weren't far from us. When we pulled up outside, I actually felt sick and didn't want to go in. My boyfriend talked me into it and I am so happy that he did!So yes the outside is quite shabby looking and so is the decor inside but my oh my this is by far the best Chinese food I have tasted in Liverpool. The staff were quick to take our order and we were quickly served our soups. The hot and sour is highly recommended.Remember that this place does not serve alcohol so if you want a drink, take your own. Highly recommend it.

We have been coming to the Phoenix Palace for years now and it never fails to be superb. The staff are great, the atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the food is the best Chinese food I have had in Britain. I always take friends here when they come and visit and they all say the same thing. Try the braised barbecue ribs. The Pub next door is worth a look too if you fancy some booze.

Long overdue decor upgrade needed and slightly dirty toilet. My only two negative. I always let the food speak for itself and it does this by shouting. Been going here for about 6 years on my regular visits to Liverpool and love the food. The best Chinese bbq ribs in the world!

The most delicious gorgeous Chinese in the city. Generous portions fresh vibrant tasting food. The banquet is immense. However the King Prawn Peeking style in garlic ginger and spring onions sauce is out of this world!! The ribs have loads of meat on them and the prawn toast has prawns not just sesame seeds. Doesn't look like much but a total hidden gem.

If you read some of the other reviews you will notice people have been visiting this restaurant for a lifetime, says it all!!! we have been eating here 25 yrs, and still cannot fault the food, staff are very friendly and as others have said bring your own drink.Chinese food paradise!!!!

The ribs are amazing - I particularly like the ones in juicy sauce. You have to try the stuffed pancakes (unlike anything else I've tried in any other restaurant). Dipped in the juicy rib sauce - omg!!!! Our favourite main dishes are chilli beef, sweet and sour pork, chicken and cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce and Peking chicken. And the final cherry on the top is that it's byo!!! It's not a posh place but an absolute must try.

Many people have told me how amazing the food is here so I decided to find out for myself. They were not wrong. The food is top quality with chippy prices. You can take your own alcohol and anything left over you can take away as they wrap it up for you. I had soup and shared a platter of appetisers. We then ordered our main meal which would of easily done 2 pp. I will look forward to return soon.

I have been coming here for over twenty years. Whilst the restaurant it's self has basic data the food is excellent

What a great time we had here. We had banquets and the food never stopped it was hot and so lovely. Staff was very helpful. Thank you so much we will be back xx
