I have been going to this restaurant from the age of 16. I'm now 59. Best Chinese I have ever been to. I now go with my son, who loves it also.

Have been coming for years and has always been good. Last visit was better than ever. Food fantastic, great value, lovely staff. Don't be put off by the location, it's well worth travelling to. Probably the best Chinese restaurant in Liverpool, certainly outside the city.

More of a pub function room that doesn't sell alcohol then a chineese resturant. Staff are very friendly, food portions are good and tasty.

Llegamos y parecía cerrado desde el exterior, sin luces visibles y sin signos de vida. Empujamos la puerta y crujió como si entrara en una casa vacía que necesita ser reformada. Entrar fue como entrar en los años 70 y ciertamente no ha tenido un poco de pintura desde entonces, pero eso estaba bien, ya que estábamos tan emocionados de probar la increíble comida que habíamos estado leyendo. Elegimos banquete a £ 24 por persona y el primer couse era un plato de carne fría con una tonelada de ensalada. La carne estaba empapada en una salsa de soja, estaba bien, pero no es algo que nos gustaría probar de nuevo. Los siguientes platos llegaron y todo estaba bien, pero nada como lo que habíamos estado esperando, solo la comida china promedio que se obtiene en la mayoría de los lugares. Después de un descanso de 20 minutos recibimos nuestras comidas principales, cerdo Sweet & Sour, mi comida favorita personal y carne de curry. Estaba enormemente decepcionado al encontrar que era pollo agridulce que nos habían dado, realmente destripado, pero en este punto necesitábamos ir a casa pronto, así que no pedimos que se cambiara. En definitiva nada especial y definitivamente lejos de lo mejor de Liverpool. Tal vez algunas personas necesitan aventurarse más lejos y ver qué hay ahí fuera. Calificación 6 / 10 .

The number one chinese restaurant in Liverpool by a long distance. For 25 years we've been visiting this place, you'll be greeted by the nicest staff who are just the loveliest family and the food is second to none. The chef takes pride in every single dish using the finest chinese ingredients you can think of. This place is always busy, the phone never stops ringing!! Goes to show the quality has never dwindled. I could give this place a further 100 stars if I could. World renowned not just in Liverpool!! Keep going!!

I have walked past this restaurant so many times and thought it looked really grubby , so never ever thought about booking until a friend told me the food was amazing . We love Chinese food so thought we really need to give it a go. My friend was right. Please do not judge this restaurant on its surroundings. We went on a busy Saturday night. Yes inside is very dated but it’s also very clean. It’s obviously extremely popular. Full of families and couples having a nice meal out. The service is lovely. All the staff were so friendly. The menu is extensive , didn’t really know what to choose, so we opted for a banquet for 2 so we could get a taste of everything. The restaurant does not have a license to serve alcohol but you can take your own drinks. Even soft drinks. They were very cool about that with people. Great if you are going as a family. Kids can be so fussy !! The food is seriously delicious. Each course a delight . Very generous portion sizes too. Could have easily fed 3 people. Do you get coffee and oranges or fortune cookies like you get at the end of your meal in a fancier restaurant no. But what you do get is amazing food with great service at an amazing price. Might have been my first visit but it won’t be my last.

Rude staff and the place looks like a toilet. They used to care about this establishment and their customers but evidently no longer. Have noticed other customers complaining that they were ‘full’ when there were plenty of tables left. The attitude on the staff that work here, who do they think they are ? About a 5 minute drive further towards Muirhead you’ll find China Garden. Give them your custom, as these quite clearly aren’t bothered anymore.

Went here on Sunday. I have been here before but my partner hadnt. Booked 6pm openining time , we were the only ones in there. After 10 mins it started to fill up. The decor maybe a bit dated but by far the foods makes up for this. We got a banquet and the food was gorgeous and so much variety and very generous. Value is so good as well and you can take your own drinks. We had a lovely time and enjoyed every course we had , we will definitely be going again soon. Beautiful food nice atmosphere and outstanding food and variety.

Been going here a long time , be assured it’s food is probably one of the best not in just UK but worldwide, the decor is 80s style but I don’t care. Note anyone’ trying to ring over next 3 weeks may not get through as they are closed for 3 weeks,till around Easter is hopefully when they open again, cannot wait!

Still and always will be in my opinion the best Chinese restaurant that I have been to. I have been coming like many other regulars for over 50 years. The food is still as good as ever. Thank you to Ken,Lynn and their amazing daughters Lisa, Lauren and Sarah.

We got a really good takeaway. Every dish was good including proper chow mein and great bbq ribs. The restaurant service has reopened. Don't be put off by the slightly unprepossessing decor, this is one of the best Chinese restaurants around.. Edit to say we ate in last night. Excellent give with huge portions and great service. Be aware it's BYOB.

The most delicious food that I think you will taste. The braised ribs and chilli beef are legendary. Been going for over 50 years and could not recommend here enough.

Had a family get together here last night. As usual everything was perfect. The food, the price and service. You can't get better.

Went last night for my birthday with family, luckily we I had booked because it was really busy . Great service , brilliant banquet for 4 and all food lovely AND bring yeh own beers and wine 🍷 is also a bonus , lovely people who work there and the chef works so hard to create gorgeous food when it’s so busy. Needs updating but with service and food like this who cares , be back soon and well done to everyone who works so hard in there it’s really appreciated by us locals who keep returning time and time again .

Surroundings were a little tired and drab but the food was amazing and service attentive. Portion size was massive but flavour and quality first class. Not licences so only soft drinks and tea/coffee. However (unknown to us) you can take your own booze in with you. Two lovely ladies served well as nd were non-stop. Plaudits to the chef(s). Downside is exterior was filthy, inside was tired and a bit shabby. Highly recommend the salt n pepper spare ribs and also the Platter for 2. Loved it !

Outstanding best takerway we have had beats chippys handdown well worth the money we got sweet and sour chicken prawn green pepper curry and chicken ginger spring onion all with fried rice and prawn crackers and was not disapointed it was fabulous and of couse its a sit in resturant and a byo a little gem deffo going back staff are lovely nothing is too much trouble they go above and beyond fabstastic should be 10 ************* well worth it wont disapoint

Ordered a take away. The main was fine, but the rice was luke warm. I was charged £9 for the meal, and when I checked the price on the 'updated' menu, It was priced at £8. I don't think I'll be going back......shame, because a lot of people seem to like it.

Fantastic place, a hidden gem. Decor is classic Chinese restaurant, and location is on a busy road near an old pub. The food is always superb, and the tables are always full of hungry punters ready to try the banquet (£23pp), but they all leave with full stomachs. I cannot rate this place highly enough and I'll be devastated when it closes.

I have been coming here with my family since I was a baby, they have been coming for years before that. The best Chinese meal I've ever had and amazing value for money. If I had to choose my last meal it would be the sweet chili-ginger prawns and fried rice from CHOWS. 10/10 amazing

We love this restaurant and come as often as we can and have been doing so for over 45 years - yes its that good. In fact this visit family members came from afar, East Yorkshire and Milton Keynes plus 8 locals. The food and service is always outstanding I cant recommend it enough, its such good value of money. Its unlicensed so you dont get ripped off paying for expensive alcohol or soft drinks. Happy Christmas everyone. JMcG

Just been to phoenix Palace for the first time, had meat spring rolls and king prawns in pecking sauce. Seriously one of the best I've had and I take my Chinese food seriously lol, in the famous words of arnie 'I'll be back' thank you phoenix Palace you're amazing x❤️

We have been going to Phoenix Palace formerly Chaus for more years than I care to remember. Only open for takeaway at the moment. Ordered 2 banquets on Sunday and the food was absolutely delicious as usual. I believe the restaurant might be re-opening in August.

i don't think i have ever given a 5* review before but this restaurant totally deserves it. i went earlier this evening and ordered a banquet for 2 @ £18 each, it was AMAZING. i also ordered a special chow mein so in total spent £45 and every single penny was well spent. i am sick of reading 5* reviews for chinese restaurants/takeaways and on purchasing food from the same places i have reluctantly given 1* as you can't give none. i can't praise this place enough, home made sauces were really tasty and the crispy duck, sesame prawn toast, spring rolls - i am almost struck dumb i am so delighted with the place. will go absolutely nowhere else ever again for my chinese meals. thank you so much, you made my birthday very special.

The place doesn't look anything at all . In fact you could pass it unnoticed. But the food is great and the staff are very friendly. The portions are really big and properly cooked. Give it a try!

We had a takeaway a few weeks ago and despite it having to be transported 40 minutes away it was still lovely and fresh. Amazing the quality of the food is exceptional, the service second to none. Me and the other half tried the beef green pepper in black bean sauce and sweet and sour chicken with fried rice both dishes were stunning. You get what you pay for plus more, my new local Chinese restaurant / Take away. Well done !

Y el restaurante ha sido uno de los nuestros desde hace casi cincuenta años.

Mi novio y yo siempre estamos comiendo aquí, la comida siempre es increíble y ¡puedes llevarte tus propias bebidas! ¡El ambiente es genial y el restaurante siempre está muy lleno! had my first take out meal from this restaurant last weekend was well impressed had chicken black bean sauce plus dry roasted ribs main meal was enough for two to be honest, my friends have a take away every weekend and got me onto it will defo be going back when next off work next weekend 10 out 10

Food extremely good as always and excellent value , one of the best restaurants in Liverpool but one issue which is not good , the downstairs disabled toilet has no electric hand drier only a small towel to dry your hands which gets used and ends up wet , disgusting and unhygenic , perhaps new drier should be fitted same as one n upstairs toilet or maybe supply disposable paper towels

We are a group of 12 friends who try and get together a few times s year for a meal at the Phoenix palace. We have been visiting this restaurant for over 15 years. We have spent birthday and anniversary nights here and just get together times. The food is second to none. We always order the banquet and of course toffee apples at the end. The staff and service are excellent. Take along your own drink and enjoy the evening

This is the best Chinese restaurant in the world. Been coming over the years since the 80's. Fantastic food, second to none!!! Great service, very friendly staff. The hor deuves, the ribs, the duck and the sweet and sour chicken are superb!! To live without this restaurant would be unthinkable/disastrous. Love love love it. Thank you.

Our regular Chinese restaurant had closed down, and somebody recommended the Phoenix Palace, and my god am I glad they did. This Chinese is amazing, the food is excellent, the staff can’t do enough for you, it’s superb, you will not be disappointed.

This is the best chinese restaurant I know it is just amazing!!!!! We had a fab night in there last night Always has a fab friendly atmosphere. They do not have a drinks licence, so u take your own, so cheap night all round. Definitely the best in Liverpool xx xx

Primero comimos aquí hace más de cuarenta años, cuando era de Chau. Una vez que nos mudamos de Liverpool, perdimos el contacto con él, y más tarde confundimos la ubicación. Los comentarios aquí nos trajeron de vuelta, y es tan excelente como recordábamos. Sopa caliente y amarga abundante, carne de soya picante con col en escabeche, pato rebozado, deliciosamente tres tipos de carne, pollo intenso y anacardos en salsa de frijoles amarillos (¿hay un toque de miel allí?), No es una decepción entre ellos . Servicio muy amable también. ¡Vuelva pronto!
