Food was OK, nothing special but what other choice do people have for a fish supper takeaway in the area, staff were unfriendly, not a great place all in all

Decent fish and chips but had no pizza available. A bit disappointing really.

Chips looked great but were extremely oily, the fish was nice though. The staff serving weren't overly friendly, but were instead very robotic. The pricing was strange, the Haddock was £7, the chips were £3 or they did a Haddock supper for........£10! What a bargain over buying the fish and chips separately! An experience NOT to be repeated (unlike, I suspect, the taste of the chips!)

The late Queen Elizabeth's favourite chippy when she was staying at Balmoral, great value, £10 for a fish supper, you can't even get that value in Whitburn. Absolutely delicious 😋. Definitely be back.

Fish just greasy, no flavor. They can't even do chips. Minced pie much too dry. Not acceptable even for takeaway.

Chippy is fine enough but more than once had folks served before me while I’ve been waiting and that’s nae on like.

Ordered a battered lemon sole (because the breaded one was not available). The fish was quite bland and the chips were quite oily and less than average to my taste. The supper was quite expensive (£11) and the portion is big. However, the taste wasn’t really good. Hence I didn’t finish the chips in the end. Ultimately, it is also a shop that focuses on takeaway, so it will be unfair to rate the dine-in atmosphere even though I dined-in. Overall, good portion, but taste could be improved.

Passing by Ballater we inevitably ended up in the local chipper. It was busy with the locals, a good sign. We ordered a fish supper and a phoenix pizza. The pizza was good and tasty, the fish supper was a bit soggy. There is ample seating area. Good experience.

Had a lovely chippie from here, fresh haddock and tasty chips.The staff were really friendly and efficient even when they were busy.

Fantastic local and affordable eatery, where you can enjoy a delicious, simple meal after a long day of walking. Seems like a family business, which is often nice business anyway. Delicious food.

Been visiting Ballater for a while now but had never known about this wee chippy as up a side street. Lovely young lad serving who was polite and efficient. The food was cooked to order and was a lovely traditional fish and chips which we really enjoyed.

Produced perfectly acceptable fish & chips quickly & efficiently. Ballater is not well served by restaurants or takeaways & this place certainly warrants a trip if you are staying nearby.

Fantastic gluten free fish and chips for me, and my husband enjoyed his haggis supper. I phoned to pre order and the food was fresh on collection. Really nice girls on the counter. I highly recommend!

Well will never be going there again. Asked if I wanted salt and vinegar told them I only wanted vinegar. Waited 20 mins. To get the food as the cook had forgot to put the on. And then leaves it to the young lassie serving to apologise for the delay. Then I start eating the food to find it completely covered in salt. Then when I go back to complain. The lassies behind the counter just look confused and didn't know what to say. And the cook just said sorry and he'd refund it in a good old passive aggressive way. Hold him to keep my money as its the last I'll ever spend there and left. But as soon as my back's turned all I hear is him saying it doesn't matter to the girls. So I went back in and told him it does matter as I'm salt intolerant. But apparently customer service or customer health concerns don't matter!!!!

This is fish and chips as it should be. All cooked fresh to order, which is worth a wee bit of a wait. We particularly love the traditional chips and the golden, tasty batter on the fish. Staff work so hard, it's difficult to see how they juggle all these orders and requests at busy times and still keep smiling. A real treat for us.

Excellent Fish and Chips, great value for money and was very tasty. Service was prompt despite being very busy. Would recommend.

Being on holiday in Ballaterwe decided fish and chips on our last night. Visited Phoenix and the food was excellent. Possibly the best fish in batter I have ever had!

Surprisingly good take-away meals. I especially enjoyed the Phoenix pizza—spicy!

Stopped here on way to Braemar and both had a lovely takeaway meal. Fish supper and black pudding supper. Everything cooked fresh, toasty hot and tasted lovely. Service was excellent with polite staff. Would definitely go back when passing through. Can highly recommend their fish and chips.

Great fish and chips. Ordered on the phone, picked up on time, nice and hot. Salt and vinegar added as requested. Extra salt sachets were given when asked for. Nice mushy peas.

On a cold snowy and freezing night, I was able to eat the best fish, chips and mushy peas, in the heated room provided for customers to eat indoors. Best chipper in The Highlands!

Just back from enjoying the freshest fish and chip supper in this wonderful little chippy, hidden away just off the main road in Ballater. It was service with a smile from the lovely lady from the East End of London, who even opened up the dining section and turned on the heating especially for us so that we did not have to take away our meal on a freezing evening. All in all, a perfect experience!

My first fish-n-chips on my Scottish holiday. Delicious! Fish not dripping with fat but nice and crunchy. Good chips. Also not expensive. Recommended!

Heading home after a day hill walking and the family wanted chip suppers, so stopped off in Ballater. Great range of products all cooked fresh. Staff friendly and most importantly the food was excellent. One of the nicest chippers I’ve been to. Fish was excellent, white pudding was brill and the burgers are so tasty (feedback from family) and the best thing was everything came wrapped in paper so no larger unnecessary cardboard boxes to get rid of. Just wish other chippers would go back to using paper wrapping again.

Nice wee chippy - very busy as only one in immediate area. Shuts at 9pm so not one for a late night. Bought food for a group and everyone enjoyed it.

Great little village chippy, been a few times as we have family that stay in the village. Service is quick , quality is good and price is fair. Staff are always busy , must be a hard shift for them as it’s always rammed. Hoping to move to the village ourselves so hope to continue to use when we do

Homemade fish cakes had good taste but full of bones, the mushy peas were terribly watery, awful consistency. The chips were the only saving grace. No cutlery provided not even a wooden fork. The staff seemed nice but service was slow.

They must have had an off night. The other reviews seem favourable. The food was all right, but nothing special and the staff were really moody. They also called a lot of orders before ours, from people who ordered after us.

My wife and I had The fairly new Phoenix Burger! Yum. It had cheddar and mozzarella, 4 pcs of bacon, mayo, pickles, lettuce and 3 LG battered onion rings. I don't remember what else. Came with big order of chips (American steak fries). We are going back to try more items. I'll update.
