I’ve never been to this chip shop before and I have to say it’s the best chips I’ve ever had and the family said the fish was delicious. We’ll definitely use them again. The staff were lovely too.

Long wait, what's the hold up! Other shops do a better job cooking, without making us stand in the rain.

Been going to Phillips for years , him and his wife are lovely, and with out doubt the best fish and chips in Swindon, robin loves a chat about football as well , a good well run local business and great fish and chips all cooked fresh .

Always excellent, portions are big, fish is always freshly cooked to order, staff always friendly and chatty, best fish and chips I've ever had.

The last time I went, I decided to go later, in the hope that there were less people waiting. There was a queue of 12 people in front of me, when I arrived and a queue of 11 people, when I left. The wait can be annoying, but it's a testament to how good this place is. The second you walk in the door, you get a smile, a hello and asked if you want fish. This is so it can be cooked fresh. Staff are always polite and friendly, even though they are always busy. The food is great. The chips are proper chips, not fries and the cod is succulent, without any dry bits. All food is cooked to perfection and can't be faulted.

fish cooked to order good size portion best chippy in Swindon or my be the uk only last week had very good fish and chips in Devon but not as good as here i work all round the uk over the years and have only found one chippy better in Scotland there chips are the best still cooked in proper beef dripping fish about the same i have been getting fish and chips from robin for the last 20 years

Great portions and friendly staff. The food is always freshly cooked and so tasty. This is our Friday lunchtime treat for the office.

Visited Phillips Fish and Chips tonight and it was super, huge portions and fish cooked to order as you walk in the door. Friendly staff and very reasonable prices. Will be visiting again and again.

We have been trying different fish and chip shops in Swindon every couple of weeks throughout lockdown and this one is outstanding! We are not going to bother trying anywhere else, we've found the best! Fabulous tasty fish in a great crispy batter and proper chips, finished off with mushy peas, can't go wrong!

It was a bit of a blow when Philip had to give up his chippy near the Swindon Country Ground, and it took a while for him to find new premises, but it was worth the wait. There are Fish and Chips and there are fish and chips, and we never fail to be happy with our occasional Saturday lunch from Philip and his wife.

Very good and prompt service, fish freshly cooked to order, I would imagine this place gets very busy, so expect a little wait. Generous portions of chips, our order was quite large and no-one was dissappointed. Very friendly and helpful staff, reasonably priced food Definitely return

First time visiting this chippie but it wont be the last! Had to wait quite a while as it was really busy but the food was freshly cooked so couldn’t really ask for more. The people working (I think they are the owners) were great and very helpful when we were enquiring about the quantities of chips we would need for 6 people, unusually they did not try to get us to buy more than we needed! It was good food and at a good price.

The portions of chips here are huge. The owner is really polite and friendly. 4 fish, 2 chips and a kiddy meal, £22. Well recommended

This is now our regular visit for fish and chips, all fish is cooked fresh to order.The owner and his wife are lovely, so polite and friendly too. It does get busy with the queue often out the door.But it's so worth the wait and prices are very reasonable too.

Probably the best in Swindon and now our regular after trying most of the ones nearer home in Stratton. Very good value, fish always freshly cooked to order, good portion size and always a warm welcome. Keep up the high standards

Called in on a Saturday night after a long days hiking in Wiltshire. Quality of the food was excellent - we will be back next time we are down that way.

This is the best traditional English fish and chip shop you will find for miles. Very good value for money and portions are massive. Fish is cooked fresh to order (no soggy batter) always 10/10. Owners Donna and robin are lovely people and always friendly. They have worked in the chip shop business for a long time and this shows. I visit every week and wouldn’t go anywhere else!

Decided to get our fish & chips from this shop on Saturday. We were there shortly after opening at 5pm and already there was a number of people ahead of us. Took it home to eat and were impressed with the fish, which was lovely and white and flaky, it tasted as good as it looked. Our biggest disappointment were the chips, which were the most awful chips ever. The enormous portion which we stopped the Assistant adding to as we already had far too many, were flat, crunchy bits of nothing and did not resemble a decent chip amongst them. How can a chip shop get it so wrong. We will not be back.

By a mile, the best traditional chippie in swindon. I have been using this chip shop since they were at the magic roundabout and continued when they moved. Robin and his wife are lovely and friendly. The food is lovely and fish cooked to order. My only upset is that I wish they did skate wings!! I’d be there everyday!

This is the best fish & chips in Swindon by far. All fish is cooked to order and the portions are on the large size. Excellent value and the taste is just delicious. Highly recommended.

We are fairly regular customers at this take-away but on Good Friday they excelled themselves!! With a queue stretching some yards down the pavement no once did they get flustered serving and cooking the food - the food was great as usual, the wait worthwhile. How many chip shops would have 15 people queuing outside the door besides the dozen or so inside? Says it all about the quality and value at Phillips fish and chips!

Lovely and friendly couple who run what is without a doubt the finest quality Fish and Chips that you can get in Swindon. Always welcoming and chatty, Providing a high level of quality fish cooked to order in spotless premises. Whilst waiting for my order I chatted to the other customers and found that some had traveled from out of town. I myself have to drive past three other Chip shops to get to this one, knowing that it is well worth the time and effort.

never mind the title, my main disappointment is only being able to give 5 stars to this Fish and Chippery instead of the 30 it merits. Fantastic food, freshly cooked, so very tasty, prices very reasonable. Staff so friendly also make this one of (if not) the best I have ever bought from !!!!

We have had our Friday night supper here on many occasions, fish cooked fresh to order and massive portions, curry sauce is superb. Chips are by far the best around and also very generous portions. As a few have pointed out you quite often have to queue, but as they say the best things come to those that wait

Generous sized portions cooked fresh to order but most importantly, done to perfection! It's out of our way to get there but there is nowhere else locally that does fish and chips to such a high standard. Absolutely delicious!

Been visiting robin and donnas chippy for years , always a warm welcome from the staff . Fish is cooked for you , so it's not kept warm under the lights , portion size is huge , we always have half for tea on a Saturday , and the other half warmed up on Sunday. Very good prices too. On a Saturday when football is on you can get a football special , jumbo sausage and chips for £2.00 just can't beat it . Excellent value always . Best chippy in Swindon by far .

Robin Phillips has built this take-away up on the strength of his reputation at his previous establishment, fish is cooked fresh to order so there is sometimes a short wait but it is well worth the extra time it takes to get served, portion sizes are very generous and quality is goo.

Haddock and chips freshly cooked to order. Chip portion is generous and the size of the haddock just fitted across my dinner plate. Great value and a fabulous dinner.

This is the guy who ran the chipshop at The Magic Roundabout for a long while. All fish is cooked fresh to order. Great light crispy batter, quality ingredients no wonder so many would not go anywhere else.

such a reasonable price for big portions. Choice is excellent, cooked to order, tried several items , fish is recommended by hubby. 4 of us and the bill only comes to around £12 each time. Great friendly service, massive queue as a result though. chips are the best, never soggy or stuck together.

£12.50 for a meal for 4, excellent value. Saveloy, chicken, curry sauce, pea fritter etc; and the chips are amazing, will certainly be eating there again. Best chip shop in the area.

Run by Robin Phillips who previously ran the Frying Fish near the Magic Roundabout until January 2015. This must rate as one of the best traditional fish and chip shops in Swindon. This establishment is well worth a visit. Be prepared to wait on a Friday night! Good value with sensible pricing strategy. Robin has a loyal customer base who despite the move from the previous location, have followed him en mass. Parking is far easier as well.
