Always a pleasure to return to this friendly coffee shop opposite my office which features a superb range of food prepared fresh every day in their own group kitchen and bakery. Without doubt Peyton & Byrne offer the very best service and products of any coffee shop chain in London. Today for my late breakfast I had a delicious cup of Cappuccino (£4.00) and a wonderful Three Cheese and Tomato toastie (£7.80) which just oozed warm melting cheese between hot sourdough slices. Just the best start to the day for me. Much recommended.

Despite what appears to be a completely new team at this P&B outpost, there was no discernible slippage in service or food offer. In fact, the triple cheese and tomato toastie (£7.20) was probably as good as I have ever had at this wonderful coffee shop. A barista produced cup of Cappuccino (£4.00) completed my delicious breakfast before crossing the road for a busy day at my head office. This super little P&B outpost certainly provided an incentive to work-from-office rather than at home !!

Such a lovely coffee shop still managed by the same lady who started when it opened about 8 years ago. I was due a business meeting but my guest was running late so instead of an office chat we took brunch at No226. I had the ham, three cheese and pickle toastie (£8.20) which was very fresh thick sliced brown bread, delicious ham and oozingly wonderful cheeses. I would have gladly attempted a second if I had been on my own! My guest chose the salmon sandwich (£7.80) which he rated highly. All food and drinks delivered with a smile to our table. With drinks the total cost was £21.20 - exceptional value. Can't wait to return.

This remains my favourite coffee shop mini-chain in London. This branch opened in 2015 when I was working full time from an office across the road and provided me (and guests) with a great fix of Latte or Cappuccino at regular intervals. Despite the ravages of Covid, this chain has recovered and, with staff who have been with them since the early days, is looking after their loyal customers with great service and superb home-cooked products. For my brunch, I enjoyed the hot sausage roll (a small portion of English mustard provided as a favour) and chicken mayo, avocado and tomato roll. Together with coffee, the total was £13.30 and worth every penny. Special thanks to the staff including the jovial young South African who joined the team in 2018 and is hoping for another RWC victory for the 'Boks

I was hoping for, well, something a bit more up market in this expensive area of London. The service was fine but the food disappointing. Orange juice was limp and the croissant looked magnificent but had little taste and was dry. Coffee small with unusual and interesting taste. The place has plenty of space inside although it could be a cafe anywhere. Just under £10 - the lot.

I came here after a hospital visit. Lovely atmosphere, great amount of space. We had the pie and a chocolate cake (melt in the middle) which was really nice. Would recommend the nutty hot chocolate. Only thing I would say is they didn’t have chai on the menu which was a tad disappointing. Other than that it was great and I’d recommend.

Well, Oliver Peyton is a staple of British television – Great British menu and so on. Used to run another restaurant – Mash – at the other end of Great Portland Street but that has long since gone. However, popped in to have a look at Peyton and Byrne expecting something wondrous. Nice mask-wearing people behind the counter but not a lot of produce for sale. But ordered two apple pies to take away for my wife and myself. On returning home, I warmed them in the oven and poured on some organic double cream. The pastry was nice enough, if a bit sweet, but where was the apple filling? There was hardly any. So only two stars from me, I'm afraid.

I popped in to buy a coffee on the way to work. My flat white was perfect, great milk and delicious coffee. The food on display looked delicious - small cakes, tarts, granola, pastries etc. Costs were average for central London nothing ridiculous. I didn't buy any food as I already had breakfast but it was very tempting. Decor was inviting and lots of places to sit.

I was on the Kenneth Williams trail when I came across this cafe. The name was vaguely familiar but I had never knowingly visited one of its establishments. I found it calm and relaxing, and there were colourful displays of cakes and sandwiches, though I only had a plain scone, it being sometime before lunch. The coffee and scone were excellent. I refused the butter and jam which were proffered. I will visit again.

Only popped in as we were around the corner and fancied a coffee before heading back to the underground. We ended up having proper breakfast. Very nice and friendly service, chap forgot my salmon in my scrambled eggs. When I pointed it out, I got it within the minute. There is no fancy-schmanzy decoration on the plate. There is also no massive plate and little food. It's a proper portion on a normally sized plate. We had scrambled eggs, one with extra avocado and bacon, another one plain, and I had the one with salmon. Coffee was good and whilst we were sitting there, the cakes and tartlets caught my eye. My husband is gluten-free and I saw quite a few gluten-free options, so took the opportunity. The chocolate mini-tart and the orange mini-cake thingy were absolutely delicious! I don't understand why so many companies have so much trouble with gluten-free stuff. Decor is simple yet nice. The chairs are solid wood and whilst I would love to have that kinda chair, I'd put at least a pillow on them for seat comfort. Toilet was broken, boss fixed it. As simple as that. We're quite often in the area, I think we'll definitely go there more often.

I used to love this place, but haven't been for nearly 10 years. I'm glad to see it hasn't changed too much, but with the downside that it is now apparently owned by BrewDog. Luckily, it appears they let them continue without having to follow the "taproom by numbers" you get out of most BrewDog bars, so not only does it have it's own look, but there is a much more interesting selection of beers. It was easy enough to get a seat on a Saturday afternoon, which is always a bonus in a decent location like this.
