This small little place has very tasty fish tapas, and it looks right from Naples. The idea is new and probably some people don't get the "fish bar" - but you should walk in and try. Food is fresh and service nice.

I first went here when it opened and I found it to be quirky and off the wall for the UK. I brought my US collegue and they were left impressed.Since that visit I always wanted to return and this trendy small restaurant has since suffered in most part due to it's prices and lack of fresh fish lovers in the area it seems. I do hope they turn it around and I for one will return again.Very good.

I used to go to this restaurant when it first opened and I was very pleased with food, service and concept of low key fish eatery.Been back few weeks ago and the experience was totally different. We booked in advance but no table was available when we arrived, so had to seat on the two small benches near the door.It took ages for someone to bring menus and ask if we wanted anything to drink. When we ordered some wine (from limited list they have), the wine was not available. We ordered the "crudo" dish as starter and instead of the full plate they used to serve, we got small pieces of each fish and the quality was honestly very poor.As main I got a sort of shrimps and beans cake where shrimps could be counted on one hand.We didn't bother to ask for dessert, paid and left.Definitely would not recommend unless the quality of food and service is reinstated.

So this little gem of a place gave us such high expectations, and how very disappointed we were. It's such a shame as this place could be great but only if they fired ALL the kitchen staff, chucked their two microwaves (that were in constant use, I could see them in the kitchen, resting on top of the cooker in full view of me, how silly is that) in the bin, and bought in new front of house, I would have been onto a winner….drat! So we started off with some bread which I have to say was the tastiest part of the meal, I love (love) bread it's so important to know it's good before you kick off. Sadly it all went downhill from there really, starters when they arrived looked small and unappetising and Johnny's fish balls were microwaved apposed to deep fried, just horrible and they looked almost awkward on the plate. However on my plate, it was all going on; my squid looked like a bloated condom stuffed with half cooked courgettes, tasteless and not very creative, but the main course was even better. I ordered sea bass which was so flat and dense, bony and swimming in huge amounts of oil, so much so I could have re-fried Johnny's fish balls in it! Johnny's main was a Tuna fillet burger; well so it said on the menu, what arrived was something quite different, bubble and squeak mashed up (tasteless) burger with a hint of tuna on a soggy bun and not much else, oh yes more oil! The front of house even argued with us that it was a tuna fillet burger??? really….I would avoid this place if your looking for a good meal with lovely fresh fish, if you want to go and relax with a bottle a wine and some Oysters then do (tread carefully) but don't expect anything special from the kitchen. They kindly took £11 off the bill but it's left a fishy taste in my mouth and we won't be going back....round three to Johnny...

If there was a zero score that is what I would choose. Started off with the waiter saying half of the menu wasn't available, we ordered a lobster to find out half an hour late that it was also no available!!!As a starter we asked for a prawn cakes and it tasted lie dry bland fried bread. For main course we had pasta with tuna but it was really pasta with onion because he tuna was inexistent. The place is so cheaply put together and presented and they still charge £75 for a horrible meal and the place looks dirty not quirky. Italian chefs to go back to Italy. The Argentinian waiter was embarrassed and apologetic, we felt sorry for him. He was actually kind.

The decor is quirky, but the food and service are such a let down and it is very overpriced. I had a seat with a view of the kitchen which was worthy of a comedy sketch, one man washed the floor while the chefs were milling around and one chef slipped and almost brought down the fridge freezer. It looked like complete chaos. My Pasta and shellfish was completely cold when it was served and arrived before my companions main course by about 5 minutes, I started as didn't want it go cold but the kitchen had arranged for it be cold already. We shared a starter which was made with mash and prawns and heated in the microwave. The main course was taken off the bill as I did not eat it, but no apology was offered. AVOID

We had dinner at Pescheria today. While the interior is quirky, the food was very disappointing. We do not mind to wait for a long while, but when the food arrives and it is also not good, that is a complete let down. The prices are far too high, 20 pounds for five smaller scampi is outrageous, the pasta dish had one small cherry tomato and some flakes of fish for GBP 19.50. All our dishes were served at different times, the kitchen seemed completely overwhelmed. The seabass was a tiny portion again for GBP 21.50 a real insult. I do not think we will return, since the quality is far below what can be expected and the prices are just ridiculous.

This restaurant is great - the fish is so fresh and restaurant interior is quirky. The other week, I had the "queeny" scallops and mash as a starter - REALLY good. For main, I had octopus lasagne - also a winner. Have had the raw fish plate many times and is a favourite of mine, and the starters are usually excellent. When I go with friends, usually order the starters as tapas to taste them all. I don't get the gripes about the portion size - sure it is not the size of american meals but we were not left hungry (the lasagne last wk was actually a bit too large in my opinion). it is true that it is not a budget restaurant - it is a boutique fish restaurant that sources the produce from Italy overnight. That said it not super expensive - I don't think anything was over 20 pounds. It won't be for everyone but those who like fresh fish will taste the difference. The wine is also very good. Will be going back soon!

This quirky little restaurant is a true find. From walking in to the smells the decor and the lovely owner Cristina you'd think you were in Naples. The menu has a good selection and the wine is delightful (they also sell excellent beer for the non-wine lovers) I've been three times now and the mussels are to die for and the handmade ravioli with prawns is amazing. The best dish is the crudo which is like a walk round the medditerranen... There is defiantly enough to share in this portion and so between 2 and possibly 3 a good starter. The service is lovely... Cristina and her team are just simply amazing. This is well worth a visit and you won't be dissapointed.

I had dinner with a friend at Pescheria Mattiucci last night and we were left sorely disappointed. The portion sizes were tiny and the prices were over-inflated. We both ordered the seabass with bulgur wheat as our mains, expecting a beautiful thick cut of fish and a generous portion of bulgur to accompany it but were instead served two small, thin cuts of fish with a tiny portion of bulgur. When we asked for more bulgur to accompany our meal so we weren't left hungry, they had the audacity to bring out a saucer with no more than three tablespoons of bulgur on it for us to share. We had to laugh. Would definitely avoid!

Ordered lobster, which was so overcooked that the claw resembled the shell in taste and texture. Bone dry. The supposedly live lobster looked dead even before if made it to the pot. Mash was overcooked as well. My girlfriend did not finish her fish stew either which she said tasted old. They charged us £68 for that and a dodgy bottle of inteligible wine.

This restaurant in Notting Hill is rather odd. It serves fantastically fresh seafood in an eclecticly decorated room. The food can be slow to come as the kitchen is under-equipped but the service is very friendly and the food worth the wait. Go, relax and enjoy the wait as much as the food. Drinks are good especially the Italian bitter soft drinks. Sign up for their email newsletter, Cristina's words are always a joy to receive.

We went there with friends few weeks ago. Nice atmosphere and staff was very welcoming. However food wasn't as good. Portions were very small, Fish was evarage and not really what you expect from a place so famous that claims to have fresh fish. They even cook fish with cheese! Definetly not an Italian restaurant. Something dodgy going on with the wine. It is some kind home made wine sold as Fiano but the bottles have really dodgy label. The only good thing we had was the dessert. Finally the bill was so expensive that we thought it was a mistake. Can't believe that is still in business. Sorry to say it but probably the worst restaurant I ever been.

I can't believe how terrible this meal was. The octopus stew thingy was unbelievably bad...a couple of slimy bits of octopus and the rest potato in a tasteless sauce. We also had a kind of fish ball that resembled a risotto cake but didn't taste of fish or anything else really. The monkfish wrapped courgette was overcooked and without any flavour and extremely meagre in size. I would never go there again or recommend anyone to eat tree.

In totale 40 grammi? That's it. Dimenticate. A testa.

We needed a quick bite to eat after visiting the British Art Fair and Polpo was ideal. We were fortunate in that we booked ahead otherwise we would not have got an inside table on a rather chilly September day. The small plates were excellent with something for everyone. The service was efficient and friendly.
