Very nice place for main meals or just a coffee and cake. Staff very friendly

Never really thought that much of it here but now it’s changed it’s my new favourite place with amazing food and a good atmosphere. I look forward to seeing the new refurbishment

***2023 New Ownership*** Quiet Monday lunch. Ambient music suited the mood and very friendly and attentive staff. Ordered the Tempura Sea Bass (two words ;p) @£15.95 and the accompanying homemade Tartar sauce and pea purée were the stars of the show. Batter was slightly under-seasoned for me but was very light and crispy. Fish obviously fresh and confirmed fresh with owner. Two beers later and c£25 for freshly made, well-cooked and fresh produce is easily worth it. Great work new owners and kitchen.

We had a wonderful time visiting Penn Central! They were so accommodating towards our doggy diner, providing a water bowl upon arrival and an espresso cup filled with doggy treats! The service was fantastic and the food was delicious!

It took quite a bit of time to initially get a drink as staff seemed oblivious to waiting customers, but as the evening progressed they were more attentive. It's a nice venue, but because of its layout it made for awkward thoroughfare between tables at times, especially when people were going outside to smoke using a side door as access. The 'dancefloor' is mainly in the front of the bar to the front door, and the stairs so it was congested with people moving in all directions. The cubicle in the men's toilet was missing a seat, and the mirror above the sink is very low. Drinks are reasonably priced, and they have outdoor space too.

Good lively pub and near some nice restaurants use whenever I'm visiting sandbanks.

I always enjoy visiting Penn central they have recently refurbed it and it looks so much better! They have a small out space that gets the last bit of evening sun so perfect for an evening drink after work. . Penn central always has a good atmosphere and the bar staff are always helpful and friendly . They had live music there last Saturday and it had the whole pub singing along to Queen. They are sticking to the new covid rules very well. So unfortunately no dancing but lots of dancing in your seats.

As much as I feel sorry for the hospitality sector it was really disappointing walk past Penn Central tonight at 10.15pm and see the pub still heaving and a few of their customers on the street chucking beer on the road. Meanwhile J&S and Gossip had totally emptied.

On Sunday the 25th Oct we visited Penn central for a Sunday roast .We were recommended by a friend and we always follow up on recommendations. I must say that this was the best recommendation I have ever had regarding a Sunday roast which is high on our list.we had beef ,turkey and pork ,and plenty of it .the meat was in abundance and cooked beautifully, The beef was medium rare and melted in your mouth along with the moist turkey and pork.the vegetables were really fresh with plenty of choice along with Yorkshire puddings ,a rich gravy and condiments. Without a shadow of a doubt this is the best roast lunch I have ever had.In Addition the surroundings are very modern and stylish.And the staff were more than helpful to all of our needs. I was told that they are opening the upstairs restaurant on Halloween 31st Oct with full a la carte Menu After a refurbishment .I was also informed that this is a fish and seafood restaurant amongst other items .We will visit again anyway if only for the roast. Went for beer and a burger and it was so tasty. A simple burger with cheese no fancy fluffy stuff just simple with friends. Quite a homely feeling. All staff were so polite. The place itself was social distant so we felt in a safe environment. Definitely worth a visit.

Not great. Only pizza left on the menu at 8 pm! Too noisy.

Such a shame the place.is filthy has such potential to be an amazing place the hub of penn hill needs.some TLC. Shows football and has a wide variety of drinks so 2 stars. Could be 5.

Held our xmas party here three years ago and going back this year. Enjoyed by all (40+ guests). Had our xmas party 9/12/17 and was well below the previous standards set. Steaks cooked medium regardless of diner's preference, agreed courses not provided, i.e. no avocado with prawn cocktail, no mushrooms and vine tomatoes with steak, chips over-cooked, vegan options made or served with animal products such as butter and cheese, etc. Disappointed and feel let down.

Ben manners is an exceptional chef and cooks the most amazing sunday roasts. He has now started to do takeaway roast meals which are fantastic. Just give them a call, let them know what time, and go and pick it up. Awesome.

Foods not great, kitchen is too far from tables! Service pretty poor and disinterested. And price way too high for what you actually receive!
