Peking Palace in Angus

Two very young girls (staff) stood near our table laughing and carrying on for most of our time there which was just unsettling. When I asked them if they could close the curtain/blind at the back of the restaurant they realised there wasnt any window covering at the back window so they just never done anything, they never even communicated that there was nothing they could do. I was left in the blinding sun. One glass of juice had some sort of food in it, I asked them to change it, and the second glass tasted like dishsoap. The pork dim sum was absolutely disgusting, unlike anywhere else I've had it. The only good things I have to say about our visit there is that the main meal was ok and the toilets are lovely and clean.

I had dinner here with my husband and his parents and it was lovely. Very pleasant atmosphere and the service was very good.

Absolutely disgusting food tonight. Arrived lukewarm. Beef chow mein and beef with mushrooms. Neither had any flavour. Beef was so chewy/tough... we couldn't even cut it with a knife. Totally inedible. Binned the whole lot. £30+ down the drain. Don't bother ordering. Have tried to message them. No response. Took 1 and a half hours to deliver.

Montrose institution, excellent food but a little soulless as a restaurant. Best Chinese in town though.

Fantastic food with a really good menu to choose from

Having been before and it was very enjoyable I suggested travelling to the restaurant again for a birthday treat. The service from a lady in a black blouse with white spots , who appeared to be in charge was abrupt, she shouted instead of speaking in a normal tone, was impatient. She was taking our order and shouting across the room at staff, one of our group thought she was shouting at us. There was no welcome or pleasant greeting. The other staff were pleasant. The portions of food were very small and poor value. The chicken was stringy and overcooked. Disappointing regards atmosphere which lacked a simple welcome. Disappointed hungry, intimidated customers. You've definately lost our repeat custom.

I’d called these guys for a Chinese evening meal to be delivered to me @ the Grey Harlings Hotel lobby where only after a short while I’d received my large meal & ate it w/in the hotel’s dining-room that night! -> It was truly wonderful as the bar even brought me my beer order to drink whilst I ate my meal! -> On the down-side I’d no chop sticks to eat w/ as I suppose that’s extra, & what a pity as I truly love eating Chinese w/ chop sticks!

First time having a meal here was very nice and service was excellent I would definitely go back again to try other dishes.

Really nice food! We had a take away, called in advance and was told it would be ready in 15minutes, when we arrived the food was ready to go as promised. High quality Chinese food, would definitely go back

We had an enjoyable meal here on Easter Sunday, although busy the food was good and so was the service. Very pleasant friendly staff.

Very pleasant night here with Angus Tai Chi Academy group to celebrate Chinese New Year ( 2024 Year of the Dragon 🐉 ) The service was excellent, friendly staff willing to help everyone, excellent night would recommend Peking Palace.

Only had carry out from here so don't know about the restaurant. All in all, not at all bad. I have used this establishment quite few times now and it's normally very good. Last visit however, it was very busy and I felt it was not as good as usual.

Arrived late to the restaurant. True the Chinese hospitality they were willing to accomadate. The meal was very good and the service was likewise. This is now the only Chinese sit in restaurant in montrose. I am biased mind having lived in HK. Worth a visit.

Still excellent tasting food, but the prices gone even higher whilst the portions get smaller, maybe time to look elsewhere.

Had the sharing starter (2 satay chicken, 4 spare ribs, 2 spring rolls, butterfly king prawns & crispy seaweed) for main my friend had fried rainbow chicken with boiled rice & I had Tsing tao King prawns with Singapore noodles. For dessert we had banana fritters & ice cream. All the food was really good, best chinese I've had. The deserts were a bit of a let down, 4 little slices of banana in batter with a blob of ice cream. The started & mains were brilliant & will definitely order the same again, was definitely not disappointed.

Good traditional chinese. Had mixed starter platter, king prawn tsai ting and sizzling beef fillet which hubbie said was delicious.

Ordered takeaway and really impressed with fresh cooked delicious food. Obviously great hygiene too (no old oils) Service on phone very polite and friendly. Meal ready when promised. Definitely make this our regular takeaway.

drove all the way from brechin to pick up the food when got home the dish was more like a sunday dinner with broccoli cabbage and carrots in a king prawn chow main no flavour no garlic it was disgusting plus ordered a portion of mushrooms no flavour apart from adding what seemed to be gravey granules and Singapore noodles that was like weak curry powered added it was all just disgusting the worst Chinese i have ever had definitely not cuisine food what so ever dont waste your time or hard earned money i could have chucked all that in a pan myself if id wanted a sunday dinner£26 what a joke !

Really very good food. The portions are too small in my opinion. I'm a big eater and I was forced to order a second time so I wouldn't leave hungry. At the first evening we had a very kind and nice girl who knew English well, I asked her to make me a large plate of pasta. The response was immediate with a "yes no problem" shortly after she came back with an extra portion which made me really happy. On the second evening there was another lady who unfortunately wasn't as helpful as the other one. I asked again for a double portion of pasta but I only received the small one and was told that there is no double portion. Unfortunately I returned home hungry and dissatisfied.

Asked the manager if we could park our motorhome for the night as we wanted a meal and bottles of wine. She said it was OK, but we parked at our own risk. We ordered the A menu for two. Loads of delicious food. Debs had a Chilean sauvignon blanc, and I had an Argentinian malbec red. Very good service and friendly staff.

I ordered a take away from here for the first time yesterday and I was extremely impressed. When I called in my order the customer service was fantastic very friendly and gave me good recommendations. The quantity of food was also fantastic and I feel that I got real value for money. The food was absolutely stunning as well. Will definitely be ordering again.

The food here is always so delicious and fresh. We normally get a delivery which takes between half an hour to an hour maximum. The staff are always friendly and I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

I've been a few times and the food was nice. On my recent visit however I was disappointed with the service. I ordered pork dim sum which takes time to steam. While I waited I ordered tea which had to be sent back because it was cold but issue was rectified. When ordering I was very careful to state pork dim sum because I have a seafood allergy. When the dim sum came I ate a piece and then queried the contents because I was worried it was prawn. After querying with the kitchen it was indeed prawn. They asked if I wanted a replacement but this wasn't really an option due to time. My main was ok but when the bill came the dim sum was still on it which I thought was unacceptable. There seemed to be little concern that I had been incorrectly given a food I am allergic to. The dim sum was removed from the bill and thankfully I noticed so quickly that my reaction was not severe. I have really liked the food in the past but this experience ruined it for me.

First time ordering from this restaurant/takeaway. I asked for 2 spring rolls...apparently I didn't explain myself properly nor did the staff member understand...she thought I meant 2 portions of spring rolls. (I very rarely buy Chinese food hence my confusion) I questioned the price...my goodness me...take what I got!! It was my fault apparently for not explaining myself properly...as explained I don't normally order from a Chinese restaurant/takeaway!! Staff member rude!! Yet to taste the food!!

If you want good quality Chinese food then I highly recommend this place, the staff a very friendly and don't take long to prepare your food either, every time I've come here the food has tasted amazing, highly recommended

The food was edible....just. £35 for 2 meals, fillet steak looked like minute steak in sweet and sour sauce, crispy duck wasn't crispy, plum sauce had never seen a plum, chips seemed like reheats. Took almost an hour and a half ..... Delivery driver didn't know where to go or what to charge. Avoid it like the plague.

Fantastic restaurant with friendly staff. The food is really nice with great portion size. We have been there a good number of times despite it being a 50 minute drive.. Its really worth the journey.

We ordered a meal for collection. It was ready bang on time, the half duck was very tasty, as was the Thai rice. However, both our mains were unpalatable (completely inedible!). The beef chow-mein tasted like someone had used left-over gravy soaked meat from a Sunday roast, mixed with over-cooked school dinner broccoli. The Szechuan beef was not much better and smelled like an old dish cloth. Expensive for 2 revolting mains.

I got a takeout last Saturday and I was highly looking forward to it .it was a prompt delivery witch made me think of the time I ordered a takeout from Thailand well it was not food that I got delivered it was 3 lovely lady’s well one might of been a lady boy but we will put a vail over that that’s a story for another time We ordered salt and pepper chips chicken chow main and a banana fritter we all liked it it made us feel like we where kings for a brief moment in time . Anyway it’s time to end this review but saying I want be back as I live in Germany but if I ever come back to Brechin I will be back

It wasn't bad it's just not to my personal taste. Clean beautiful restaurant. Friendly staff. The food was in no way awful or not cooked right. Just not my favourite. Worth a try. It's the only Chinese I tried who does a actual mild curry which is great. I just feel like a few changes or a different dish would of made it 5 star.

Our family of 6 has a great meal today at the Peking Palace in Montrose. The food was superb as was the service and it was good value. It was worth the drive down from Aberdeen and we will be back.

Takeaway food and service was great tonight. Thai red curry with beef and chicken satay skewers. Both very good.

Banquet Menu B £22.50 for each person was way over priced for what you get. Five of us had to share the amount of food that would have JUST fed three people. The Starters were fair but the Main course was of very poor quality and tasteless, the Deserts were a joke.

We were on holiday and used this restaurant twice and were delighted at what we got. Very busy on a Saturday night night, with up to an hours wait, so best to phone your order in, in advance, but they also do delivery

I like some Chinese takeaways more than others but these guys are one of the good ones! Very efficient and plenty of space just now to wait in the restaurant and keep socially distant. Cheerful service too!

We’ve tried a few of the local take away options during the lock down and this is the best Chinese, in our opinion, in the area. Consistent quality and good portion size.

A very quiet and relaxing meal. I love the sweet and sour choices but there is a good choice on the menu. There is always plenty of parking and the service is polite and friendly.

A very nice resturant A good selection on the menu to choose from also Sunday to Thursday they offer a buffet menu with everything cooked to order which is excellent Friendly helpful staff Children of all ages catered for. A must visit Chinese resturant on the outskirts of Montrose for all round quality. The surroundings perhaps let it down slightly but you go for quality food not fixtures and fittings which are perhaps slightly dated

Never been let down in over 20 years. Our go to takeaway by far. Food is always hot, tasty and the quality is good.

This is probably the best Chinese in Montrose. They do have a strange takeaway system though. I called my order in and was told it would be ready at 7.55 pm. This was 45 minutes away. When I arrived she put my order through for cooking???? I received my order 15 minutes later. Why bother with the detailed collection time? Also a top tip if you like sweet and sour chicken. Get it Hong Kong style as the batter on the chicken is good. The regular one has big blobs of soggy batter around the chicken.

Disappointed this visit. Staff appeared under pressure and jumping from clearing a table but not finishing before doing something else. Food was below standard and quite bland .enjoyed the drive🥺🥺.

Friendly staff on the phone and delivered really quickly. Unfortunately won’t be ordering again. Good portion sizes but meal and curry sauce was completely tasteless and tbh really overpriced. Wouldn’t have minded paying extra if the food was good.

The quality of the food at Peking Palace is very good when you are eating in or if you order take away food. The service is always good.

Peking Palace is a big restaurant, which can make it feel a bit strange when their are only a few customers - but those customers have made the right choice and can consider themselves lucky! The choice is excellent, and the food is well cooked and well presented. This was one of the finest Chinese meals that I’ve had for several years, and I’ll definitely be going back

Very good Chicken Satay, but very small portion of Satay sauce, not enough to cover the skewers and had to buy extra portion of sauce so it costs even higher.

The service was very good and all of us enjoyed our very different main courses and the lemon sorbet was first call.

Had a takeaway tonight with several options for the family . I hate to say it but the whole meal is tasteless . ribs full of fat . Salt and pepper chicken wings full of fat and still have bits of feathers . The special noodle dish tastes like it was cooked in a kettle . Very disappointing
