I look forward to visiting Harwich just to have a meal from here, its the first thing i do when i arrive.

Used this whilst traveling through, chosen on the strength of the reviews. Good choice. Food was quickly prepared. Arrived hot, was fresh and very tasty. Menu is traditional with many familiar favourites on there. We had a really good meal and would recommend. A good, solid dependable take away. No eating in at the moment but I wouldn’t hesitate to go in.

I usually enjoy food from here and have done for years. Today, I purchased a curry and it was ridiculously hot - to the point where I had to chuck it (after injecting insulin!). I called them back and the attitude was that they get complaints if it is not enough - so basically hard luck. I will not be having any food from here again - which is a shame because their reputation has always been good in this town.

in general Harwich takeaways are not good only place that’s good is the Turkish kebab. As for Chinese all the shops are not very good at all, but the peking always seemed to be a reasonable meal, not great but will do. Tonight’s order was probably by far the worst Chinese I have experienced. Chips was so dry and burnt (no potato left in them). Chicken balls was sloppy. Chowmein was not what. I called Singapore a couple of raw chillis lobbed on top with dry rock hard meat and cooked frozen prawns. Chilli beef was chewy and soggy. All in all a diss appointment. I was to scared to call them incase they wanted to send me some more food. Deffo won’t be eating Chinese from Harwich again.

On a miserable night we couldn't face going to to find somewhere to eat so ordered a takeaway. Delivery was swift and friendly. We ordered a chow mein which was excellent as was crispy chilli beef.

Went in here one evening with my wife and we were apprehensive when no one else was there. As we both fancied a Chinese meal and there is not much choice In Harwich we thought we would give it a go thinking others would maybe come later. We both had soup and I had a special chow mien with my wife having another noodle dish. Service was very good as was the food and I would recommend this place. It could have done with a bit of atmosphere but it was fairly early, a Monday and out of season.

Food always very nice for here when we have visited. Been there to sit in a couple of times and over all was not a bad chinese. Couple time they forgot drink on delivery but rectified it with in the hour or ideal.. But we are all human and make mistakes...

I used to live in Harwich many years ago, returned to visit family and thought I would visit my old favourite restaurant as it’s still here. I wasn’t disappointed, great service, very friendly, and the food was gorgeous. Defo recommend it

Standard Chines menu. Excellent food and good prices. Worth a visit. Opens a bit later than many restaurants in Harwich.

Lovely delicious meal all served hot and promptly. Service was brilliant and price was very reasonable.

Food so much better fresh on the table. Takeaways always good, but fresh from the wok is so much better. Nice ambience, staff attentive. James is great !!!

Been a few times to this lovely family run restaurant. Staff friendly and attentive, food is excellent, we always sit in the restaurant by the takeaway service is extremely popular.

Had a family gathering as new to the area, this place was recommended. Order took too long, was overpriced and food was average at best in fact I'd call it one of the poorest Chinese takeaway that I've ever had ☹️. Won't be going back will try another one to decide which will be our regular takeaway joint.

The buffet food was excellent and we were given a great variety of dishes. The service was extremely good and the atmosphere was warming and comfortable. Would thoroughly recommend.

Vine aquí con mi esposa y mi hijo de 2 años, que se necesita de algo bueno. Para nosotros muy bien, incluso había una silla alta para nuestra hija de 2 años. Las raciones son generosas, la comida es buena y el servicio era excelente. Es acogedor por dentro con mucho carácter. Definitivamente vale la pena visitar si estás de paso.

Recientemente se celebró una reunión de la familia y los amigos en Pekín y la comida y el servicio era excelente. Pedimos a elegir los platos Danny para nosotros y eligió muy bien en la medida en que los platos eran completamente vacío al término de nuestra comida.

Looks nothing from the outside but we have now eaten here a few time. Staff always welcoming, nice quiet restaurant, good service and excellent food. Will go again.

I was here for a party so we ate pre-ordered food. Everything was Fabolous, the food , the service, drinks.I would happily go back

This Restaurant looks better on the outside, it promises more than it delivers in my opinion.The food is OK but nothing special, if anything the noodles were a little too dry and arrived too cold, the meat dish too hot!The service was OK, the English waiting staff were attentive enough but we had to get up to get their attention. The price was OK - nothing really special really the whole experience was kinda blah

I ate here after moving to Dovercourt and reading all the reviews. The food was average and the price was high. I have come from an area where Chinese restaurants are two a penny so maybe I've been spoilt, but I was less than impressed...

Really nice meal, cooked to perfection. decor simple but nice, clean with friendly staff. No sign of any Chinese employees, which was unusual but did not detract from anything!The take-away trade was continuous, collected and delivered, always a good sign at a restaurant. I recommend the chef's special chicken and the chilli beef. The shredded lamb pancake starter was awesome. A perfect meal, the best Chinese in the area.

this is literally the freshest, nicest chinese in Colchester (and I've tried many in search of a decent restaurant). chicken satay was sweet, salty but not cloying and the pancake roll crisp and packed full of really tasty crisp vegetables and beansprouts. lovely clear lady on the phone repeats the order back to ensure no errors, delivered quickly at no real cost and devoured by the entire family. recommend to all 5* chinese. don't hesitate to use. you won't be disappointed.

We were looking for something to eat in Harwich and stumbled across this lovely little Chinese.... wow it was amazing. Food was really fresh, service was excellent, great value for money. We came with a very hungry 5 year old boy, no trouble for his order to go into first, 5 mins later a lovely plate of chicken and vegetables came out with soft rice. Then our order came later, the king prawn chow mein was really lovely and we also ordered chicken with cashews, again lovely. To be honest it's been ages since we ate such a good Chinese meal...just a pretty they do not do to southampton!! We did notice the phone was ringing non stop and the delivery driver was in and out constantly....What a gem of a place...thank you so much!!!

Ordered for a home delivery. Very busy phoneline ( good sign straight away ) really pleasant lady to order with. Told we would have a wait of around 1 hour, again this was a good sign knowing that they have built up a good, busy clientele. Food arrived bang on time, piping hot, lovely quality and great quantity! Everything we ordered was really tasty and so much of it. Even the delivery driver was pleasant. Happy that we have finally discovered a nice, trustworthy Chinese takeaway. Will definitely be back. :)

We chose this restaurant for a work reunion meal and it was a very good choice.22 of us met for an excellent meal with a wide variety of dishes served by very friendly staff in warm friendly, clean atmosphere. The food was very good, and a good choice of dishes to suit all tastes, and including very good vegetarian options. I would recommend this restaurant for a meal out and will use it in future for my takeaway. The price was very reasonable, the service prompt but not obtrusive, definitely a winner with all who enjoyed themselves and had a great evening

this was a welcome surprise as you always associate this type of place as take out or Greasy Spoon.We came in with friends and we do eat out a lot the 4 of us and it was the best Chinese Food I think we ever had. So much food on the plates and as we were staying in a Hotel not able to take a doggy bag home. The service was quick and cheerful. The place is a real gem and you should stop in. The Prices are very reasonable and lots of choice.

Friendly staff and a decent varied menu. I use it all the time for takeaways. Cheaper than the local Indian as well

My parents and our Aussies friends came for a meal at the end of May and it was excellent. My partner and i were very happy with the meals we had , also the service and price so we decided to come back. We did this last night 27/06 and again it was excellent. Tracey looked after us and was really attentive without fussing over us. She made sure we had everything we needed. Our meals were just as nice as the previous visit. We really like the Peking in Harwich and the food is tasty, clourful, plentiful and well priced. Thank you Tracey and all at the Peking in Harwich x

Enjoyed family meal here this evening. Excellent duck and pancakes for starter. Mixture of dishes for main course. Service is exceptional.

Great food. Takeaway and restaurant is always busy - have to book in advance or call early for takeaway. Restaurant decor is a little dated and tired but the food makes up for it.

3 friends and myself ate there last night and i have to say it was the best chinese ive ever eaten. the sauces on each dish were so nice. not gloopy or sickly. very very nice

I used to think very highly of the peking untill now.. was a last minute choice to order and wish we hadn't food arived cold (had to micro just to get it up to edible standard) even then it went straight in the bin.. prawn crackers tasted as if they had been left of the side for a few days and every thing else just wasn't how it used to be.. very dissatisfied

I love this Chinese, takeaway or eating in always delicious. Service is always impeccable.Make sure you order takeaway as soon as they open as they are extremely busy.

Decided to take food back to our guesthouse. The wait for takeaway was endless. I don't know if the dine in was as bad.Food was so-so.

A last minute decision to go for a meal and surprised to get a booking at such short notice on a Saturday evening. It's a while since I have been here and seems like the focus is on take aways. A constant stream of bags for the take away pass your table while you wait significantly longer than is acceptable when only 7 people in the restaurant. Hardly any tables booked maybe very telling. Slow services, no ambiance and 60s Motown music... Not a good experience. Food was OK some good and some average. Need to pull their socks up or just do take aways. Disappointing as this was always a good option. Will be interesting to see additional up to date reviews.

Harwich is full of surprises and this place is high up there on the list. Chicago Blues music playing, Essex boys serving daintily and efficiently, great food, so fresh, good & honest and the sauces are the best. Atmosphere is just right considering it's an ordinary place with normal decor. We've eaten here quite a few times now and the good food is consistent. Don't expect posh, just enjoy!

We visited Peking whilst staying at The Tower and have had 2 meals there as it is so tasty fall off the bone ribs succulent satay prawns delicious duck in plum sauce and the most searingly hot and spicy singapore chow mein and the meals very reasonably priced

First of all the Waiters are English Does it matter? ,They play English Music?,The restaurant has a Domestic fridge within the eating area?,There are Takeaway bags used to keep the food warm whilst delivering in the Restaurant area, the Man delivering takeaway food is in and out of the Restaurant area while you are eating,and the lighting is terrible,far too bright so in my opinion they have not got a clue about how to create the right atmosphere but after all the above the food is better than Fantastic!Mark

We are regulars at The Peking in Harwich Dovercourt and is an excellent restaurant serving brilliant food at reasonable prices. They also serve Take Away aswell. The manager - Danny has the staff well trained and runs the resataurant like clockwork. Well worth a visit but you need to book if wanting to sit in the restaurant.

Regular visitor to the restaurant and the experience is always tip top. They can only seat around 30 diners but that is what makes this place even more special. The service is efficient, extremely friendly and non-hassling! The food is a huge notch above 'standard' Chinese and always fresh. I would highly reccommend paying it a visit.

My boyfriend and I visit the Peking regularly. We're friendly with the fabulous staff members and can honestly say we have never got a bad word to say about this place. The food is absolutely delicious - lots of meat and flavour. The variety is also great, something different to have every time. The staff are very kind and friendly, nothing is too much but they're not constantly on your shoulder asking if everything is ok. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and we have been and will be going back again and again!!

New to the area so I was concerned my new local Chinese resturant might not live up to the old one. It certainly didn't disappoint, in fact it exceeded all expectations. This review is based on the venue as a takeaway only as I have yet to eat in but with food that good, my sit down visit won't be too long coming. The staff or owners who served me were friendly and one dish recommended was to me was top notch.

Food is generally good, although not always consistent.Good value seafood, and good portions.This is great for a change every now and then, but simply what you would expect from a local takeaway.Not a restaurant I would go out of my way to eat in,but worth giving a go if you are in the area.

I have been to this Restaurant 3 times now in the last 3 months and have always had tastey food with good portions. The staff are not Chinese strangely enough but are very friendly and should make the owners proud. One chap has been there 20 years! The Tai Pan beef is excellent, as is the special chop suey and the chilli and garlic chicken. MMM MMM, I'm getting hungry.......................

This is the only chinese my husband and I will go to, having tried most in Harwich!!!The food is very tasty, they make the best beef chow mein ever! They do seem to find it difficult to get the chicken balls right they are either well done or the meat is very stringy. With some dishes the portion sizes do vary, the smoked shredded chicken and crispy chilli beef are prie examples of this! The staff are very friendly and always seem very happy in their work.

the service was good, the food was excellent. Tasty, well cooked, very filling and a lot of it. The Best chinese my husband and I have tasted for many years and GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY!!!!!
