Peggottys Fish & Chips in Rochford

Always pass here, and on the way home thought it would make for a quick and easy takeaway. Do love fresh fish and chips! Very disappointing. Looks-wise, very impressed with their kraft printed logo paper bags, boxes and lined paper for the fish and chips and paper twisted handled paper printed carrier bags. Food-wise, wish I popped into Asda next door for some Pukka pies and McCain chips! When home, the freshly cooked fish was lovely and warm (was cooked on the spot), but the chips were dry, barely warm, the savaloy was cold and hard inside and the pie had seen better days :( £4.50 for the pie, oh my! Overall, a disappointing experience and won't be returning in a hurry (if at all) which is a shame, as from the outside and their packaging, it "looks" great. Maybe it would be better, if eaten inside at their tables?

Remember it's my opinion based in the day we went last night.£6.70 I think 2 bags of chips. Images show the results of one. Sadly same as Fleet Hants quality has dived don't get it unless buying cheaper produce. Clean shops whistles and flags 1923 history but then serve up this. Never bought one but a Peters pie £4.20 is madness.

Apparently, this is medium cod and chips for £11.14. I would not say it's even a child portion. The quality of the food was okay.

So before I get into the details if you do not have much time to read this, find somewhere else! The last time we visited here under the old ownership we couldn't fault it, this time under new ownership it is horrific. So let's begin. When ordering the food, the young lady on the till was not interested and on a different planet, she was very softly spoken and we had to ask her to repeat what she was saying. This may not have been her fault but she could do with some guidance and additional training. When it comes down to the timing of how long the preparation took, it took 25 minutes and we had to check why it was taking so long - The staff were busy doing nothing and our order was a small one! To note, the order was battered sausage, they gave us chicken nuggets. The pie ordered was steak and kidney we got mince and onion. 2.85 for a pot of mushy peas, went to Asda got 3 for 1.45!! As for the fish, it wasn't large, it was dry and boney. The pie was very doughy and not nice. However the chips were lovely!

Called in the other day for 2 chips, a pie, and squid rings Chips not good and cold pie warm been in range along time. Squid freshly cooked so nice. Fish and chips is not a chip meal £16.40. got in touch with Customer relations, have not returned my message. Is this why the name keeps changing VERY DISAPPOINTED

We had the sausage and chips and can thoroughly recommend, the chips we're the best we've had in a long time! We also liked that the fish is sustainably sourced and the service was good too :)

Been coming here for some time now, good service with a smile, food is very good, tasty and the chips are the best around. I order on line and pick up at a time that suits me, my meal is ready on time every time.

They may call themselves Churchills but this is Peggotys, don't let the name change fool you. Peggotys poor reputation was well earned and all they've done is rebranded and raised their prices hping that people would think they've raised their game. Well they haven't. Over cooked fish swimming in fat, roast chicken that was so dry we had to throw it away. Vegan burgers were fine, but then they were frozen anyway so they could hardly be difficult to mess up. They charge £5.99 each, clearly states it comes with cheese, which they will leave out unless you ask for it, and if you do ask for it they try to charge you another £1.50 for it! Staff friendly? Yes they are, but doesn't help much when you get this meal home and discover what you've got.

A few weeks ago Peggottys closed and was rebranded as Churchill's and adopted the standard Churchill's menu. Sadly the changes have made this establishment worse. The old menu had chicken strips as an option and those were always freshly cooked for you, as was the fish. The chicken strips have given way to Chicken Heroes - heroic they are definitely not. They are described as being their own recipe in a golden breadcrumb but they have the appearance of being mass produced and are very bland in taste - might just as well go to KFC. On my latest visit they were not even freshly cooked for me and nor was the fish. When it was Peggottys and I visited there was a member of staff doing the frying who was very cheerful and friendly and cooked everything to order for me to perfection. Sadly he appears to no longer be there and although the serving staff are mostly the same there are new staff frying the food who, frankly, are not very welcoming to customers. To see a mass of fish pre-cooked and being kept warm rather than being cooked to order seems to be at odds with their belief of making the world a better place through their "delicious, memory-making food and quality ingredients". My experience was anything but memory- making being totally forgettable. Not sure I will be going back which is sad as I went to Peggottys virtually every week for the last few years.

I found the shop complying with the new regulations, dealing with walk in customers and click and collect, no waiting, I simply walked in and ordered. Very good fish and chips, a much wider variety and notably cheaper and better quality food than I get in my own local area.

5 of us had cod and chips on a Sunday. One had sausages. I’m afraid to say that the food was very poor, all the cod was over cooked the batter like card board. The chips were grey! Sausages ok. Definitely won’t be returning!

First our cod fish came from a hot display ready cooked, was stale tasting and very dry, overcooked in places with white meat brown inside a chewy batter, we had expected to wait for freshly fried like most good chippies, but no. 1st time and last here, only used it as we were passing, quite close to us, so could have been convenient. In future we will go to our regular outlets at Manners way near the Southend airport or the shop in Hockley centre near Spa pub. Very disappointed. 22 July.

Just had click and collect from Peggottys. Fish (haddock) good well cooked nice batter lots of meat. Unfortunately the chips badly let this meal down. Anaemic looking - some hard -no taste and just generally disappointing. This is not the first time the chips have been far from chip shop standard. Hope they improve 😔

Just wanted to say that my family and i thoroughly enjoyed our food from peggotys my husband and i had cod and chips all very fresh and ordered online and was ready within half an hour, my son had southern fried chicken he said it was really tasty also large portions too have ordered from here a few times now as find they are the best around. Thank you and well done

Superb. Can’t beat it, freshly cooked on the spot which is worth the wait! Tasty no to greasy and good prices. Service is great too!

We have been going to this shop for two or three years, we go most Wednesdays when we take my Dad Shopping at Asda. Everyone we’ve ever taken there has been impressed with the food and service. We eat in and although there are frequently new members of staff they have always been friendly and helpful. The chips are amazing, I always take any leftover chips home and my husband has them cold! The fish is always cooked fresh and it is delicious. Fried fish always goes soggy when it’s wrapped up (it’s the steam) so that might be why some customers complained about the fish. Try eating in guys, you won’t be disappointed x

I thought we would try Peggottys again because it is very convenient for us and they used to be so good, albeit a long time ago. Bad mistake though as the food was, if anything, even worse. The chips were as bad as before but I got a BBQ half chicken this time too. The chicken was so hard I was pretty sure it had been cooked a day before and put back on the grill! I do wish I'd checked it before getting it home. I must admit I was very surprised to see one or two positive reviews of the place. Either they hit the place at the right time or I continually hit it at the wrong time! "... chips amazing" " ... scrummy" I'm just scratching my head! Are you sure you went to Peggottys?

Haven’t visited peggotys for a while after it got took over, a while back. But decided to give it a go, have to say the chips was amazing, really well cooked and crispy. Liked the way they were presented too! Daughter had savaloy, hubby had a mince beef and onion pie, both were nice they said. My son and I had the ribs, but sorry to say we were very disappointed, they were hard to cut, and not tender, compared to another Rayleigh chip shop that does amazing ribs with Jd sauce, peggotys need to up their game on their ribs. Need to be cooked slower and longer! We tried the curry sauce too and that was lovely.

Friday night fish n chips , younghun behind counter asked what I wanted 1 rock please, no rock she says what I says it’s a chip shop on a Friday no rock sorry, so instead 3 savaloys medium warm, 1 medium cod not crispy batter enough ‘and 2 large chips with no taste whatsoever so sorry folks in my opiiin use Chris at The Chase, cheaper better quality and much nicer

Great freshly cooked fish and triple fried chips, scrummy Often busy, cos its so good, but seldon long waits. Great range of fish, burgers, chicken and drinks

Not sure if this chippy has changed hands but we have found the chips to be greasy and not very nice on the last few occasions. It's our local chippy on our doorstep but I'd sooner not bother or get takeaway from elsewhere even if that means a drive.

We asked our server for 2 large slushes and we got 1 large 1 small then he found it funny like a joke definitely DO NOT BUY SLUSHES FROM THEM as that happens we are not returning

I called ahead tonight as we were in a mad rush and needed to collect a takeaway. I got there and there was nobody else waiting and I still waited 23 minutes for my food. Despite calling in they still put chips in 10 minutes after I got there and I had to wait for half my order . Chips not great so we won’t be back

One of the very few Fish n Chip shops where nothing is too much trouble You get there near closing and fish will still be cooked for you Staff are friendly and the food is always good

It's a real shame because Peggottys used to be so good. I think they've sold up to another company some time ago but retained the name. Although I have a fish and chip shop on my doorstep, I would drive past it to get to Peggottys. Now I only visit occasionally, and only because I've gone to Asda next door. Their chips used to be so good and worth travelling to. Now they've put the prices up and made the portions smaller, plus the potatoes are full of eyes! Had a portion of Cod here too but the fish batter is very soggy too. Probably couldn't paint a worst picture but that's where I am with this place unfortunately. Staff are very friendly though, that's something I guess - not enough though.

Just had a family takeaway and it was really was delicious. Fish, Pie fish cakes and chips all equally good according to the family. Top service too.

I have been visiting this establishment for a couple of years but recently the quality of food has become sub-standard. Had cause to complain of very poor quality of the cod that was provided on my last visit, such that when I visited today I had to ask that they refund the cost. However the skate that I have just purchased is the worst piece of fish that I think I have ever been served with - very grey in colour and overcooked.

Went to get fish & chips take away for the family but unfortunately was very disappointed. The fish batter was very soggy and saturated in fat instead of being crispy. The chips were also not had and crispy. Really disappointed.

Brilliant chips cooked twice for extra crispness, always fresh and piping hot.Also do a range of chicken and beef burgers and KFC style chicken, all very good!

Went down to Essex to visit family and we got recommended to try this place & didn't regret going! We were greeted with friendly faces and the food tasted so fresh and tasty! Definitely going there again next time we visit.

I used to be a regular but stopped when i see someone smoking out the back and then handle food without washing them!

Thank you to Leo and his team for providing my annual family get together, with delicious fish and chips for 35 people. It was cooked to perfection, reasonably priced and arrived hot. So much easier than me having to cater for them all. Would highly recommend using this service. Thanks again Leo for all your help.

I went in 28.8.18 and no-one else was in there, early eve.....normally you have a wait but this time I was served with my food within minutes.....when I took it out the cod was dry looking and the chips looked and felt cold.....the fish was not edible as was so dry....a complete waste of money and I felt cheated :(

Popped into this Fish & Chip shop on way home on Saturday afternoon and whilst waiting to place my order I noticed the place was swarming with flies, they were everywhere.

Visited to get family takeaway, staff very friendly, food very good and portions good.

We used the shop in Hadleigh for the first time. Staff were most helpful and friendly. Portions are huge and delicious. Will certainly be using the Hadleigh shop again.

When this opened up the Fish and chips were some of the best in the area - a bit more expensive but well worth it both in terms of quality and portion size.

When you can’t be bothered to cook on a Friday night, there’s nothing better than a plate of Peggotty’s fish and chips.

Called in to get fish and chips for the family after shopping in the nearby ASDA supermarket. The haddock was amazing - and huge. The chips were ok but not at all crispy and a tad undercooked ... could have done with a few more minutes in the fryer. I would return.

I have eaten at this shop recently and the food is terrible unfortunately when it charged hands to fish n chicken in 2015 it has never been the same

This used to be such a great chip shop but sadly it not now. The southern fried chicken was greasy and burned, the chip portions were small. The batter was stoggy on the fish and sausages. I won't be going back anytime soon.

Stopped here for cod and chips, x2. Friday evening and very prompt service. Friendly staff. Busy time. Lovely fish and chips, although the chips used to be crispy on outside but not so this time. Still very nice. Easy for parking as at Asda entrance.

After getting my order wrong and very poor over cooked food but also cold which is quite an achievement. Phoned them up and was so disappointed with their attitude. They really wasn’t bothered about it won’t be going there again.

Avoid this place if you looking for quality food, it’s only my opinion but the food for my family was low quality and warm.

Sadly the service was poor, the southern fried chicken was so dry it looked and tasted as if it had been there a week. The chips were cold which might have been due to the assistant leaving the on the side, the scampi was over cooked and the fish had a strange taste. The meal was supposed to be a treat for our grandchildren but most of the food went in the bin. Very disappointed will doubt if I will go there again.

Unfortunately the layout of the shop allows customers to watch their food being processed and wrapped up. After being in the shop for about 10 mins I noticed that one of the staff remarked to his colleague that he had run out of curry sauce, and asked his colleague to make another pot. some minutes later I was informed by way of a shout across the shop floor that they had run out of the sauce again, to which I replied well can't you make some more (lets face it its only a curry mix) No he wouldn't make it as he was to busy talking to two girls who just walked in. they offered me my money back and apologised for their error .... fine I won't be back.

We drive to Peggottys to get our fish and chips even though we have a chip shop nearer to us. Their fish and chips are really tasty and their customer service is great. Mitchell has always been friendly and helpful and that can really make the difference when deciding which take-away to use. He is an asset to Peggottys.

Even though we have closer chip shops we always drive here as the fish is fresh and the chips amazing. Love them

Went for Lunch bank holiday monday, we decided to eat in the shop, the service was very good and the cod and chips was to die for, would definietly go again

Convenient as its right by the station, relatively prompt service and tasty freshly cooked chips and sausages etc. Good value kids meals.

Although we have closer Fish and Chips establishments to us we always go here as the food is always freshly cooked and "clean"

Went here Friday evening to get three fish and chips. I have to say it was great, the standard has gone up another notch. Well done to the staff involved. The cod was big white flakes and the chips was crispy on outside and light inside. Recommended.

Had an awful experience here last week and it wasn't the first time. Staff forgot half of my order and after driving back to collect my order, I was appalled with the terrible customer service I experienced. Seems like communication between staff here is an issue, after calling I was promised a full refund, when I arrived in the shop it changed to a refund for only the items missing! Staff did give a full refund but only after I emphasised the inconvenience it had caused me driving back. I then checked the order again but found another item missing- I asked somebody where the other item was only to be grunted at and told not to ask him as he was only doing the refund because he was told to. The attitude of this particular of member in my opinion was disgusting, he should have asked one of his colleagues if he didn't know. I understand that there are some nights that you are very busy and mistakes do happen, but I would expect your staff to respond in the correct way, especially when they have made a mistake and have caused an inconvenience to customers by not getting the order right in the first place. It wouldn't have bothered me too much but this is now the third time this has happened, so I will not be visiting again as I have never experienced this with any other chip shop apart from yours!

The staff was very polite the greetings were spot on always a smile whenever talking. The service was done quick and efficient. Food was done to perfection.

this is about the sixth time we have visited this chippy over 7 months and each time it never disapoints .the cod is freshly cooked with a thin batter and the chips equally good.the staff always helpful and we always eat ours inside,been to other fish shops in rayleigh and leigh but this the best especially lunch time special.

Popped in her to buy fish and chips, 4 members of staff all trying to out do each other, got home with said fish and chips to discover a portion of chips missing. I ordered spit roast chicken and chips and a Rock and chips. I paid what was asked for £9.75. I waited as you always have to whilst the food was cooked (not a bad thing because you know the food is fresh). I was duly called to be told my order was ready and would I like a plastic bag. Drove 10 mins to home ti discover only 1 portion of chips in the bag. Had the staff serving been more attentive to the customer and not looking daggers at each other my order would of been processed correctly.

Well cooked, crispy chips, lovely bit of fried fish, really nice restaurant and above all really friendly staff you could have a chat with. I'll definitely be going again the next time I'm in Makro.

We quite often go for lunch and the chips were lovely, nice crisp better than all the Other chippys in the area!!! But not now approx the last month they been horridSoggy deff not cooked in the same as they used to be, if they dont get like they used to then we wont return!!! It puts you off when you see the chap sitting on a tub of uncooked chips. Cross contamination at its best. Who knows where he has been sitting. On a dirty bus. On a dirty chair. I'm sure he has sat somewhere and then he goes and sits on a tub full of peeled sliced chips. And what if he farted. His feces would escape through his clothing and onto the chips. Employees should go through food hygiene classes.

I often go here and give good reviews, but was very disappointed last night (Friday) as when I got home and opened the box it contained a small piece of cod, which was the same size as my tv remote. I paid for medium cod and haddock with scampi. The haddock was the normal medium size, as the cod should be.Very disappointed, but could not return it was the family meal.It will be interesting to hear from the management. (Order number was 190 if that helps)

The food is freshly cooked and that's about the only positive from a visit. From arriving where new customers are glared at by angry looking middle-aged blokes waiting for their food (go visit and you'll see what I mean)Fish was greasy, chips were ordinary, even the gerkin had been stored in watered-down vinegar and lacked any flavour. It was expensive and very disappointing, will not be returning.

We started buying our fishing chips here again few months ago as the food had improved but last couple of times the chips have been horrible and expensive, a large portion is like a normal portion and a lot are inedible. The cod strips are all batter so won't be using here again

I reviewed this fish and chip shop when it first opened. There were always queues, fish and chips freshly cooked and each meal was really nice at a good price. Then after a few years it got tired, maybe they got complacent and the fish and chips were just about average. Now a few years on again its terrible, To night I order a small cod, a medium rock, savaloy and medium chips. They took my order as small chips and medium cod. Corrected them sat down and waited. Fish was cooked fresh.Got home, about 200 yards and found the chips to be lukewarm so micro-waved them. Savaloy had been boiled to death, skin split in several places and was tasteless. Then again so was the fish. Staff couldn't seem to be bothered and the queses which once were frequent and now gone. Wonder why.back to my old haunt of Alexanders in Hullbridge. Its a drive but the fish and chips are far better.

We have been going to peggottys since it open. It has gone down hill so much. Use to get fish and chips every week after we finished shopping in Asda's . Just had fish and chips. Terrible. Chips hard. Fish very very dry. This is the 3rd time in a row . Will not be going there again. Shame . Was so handy .

I started going to Peggoties a few years ago on recommendation, it was delightful then, it has gone downhill since and is now most ineddible, the chips overdone, the fish dry, the scampi impossible to use a knife and fork . A total waste of money, never again

I had been busy all day and my usual chippy closed, 4pm in the afternoon called for a pie and chips, haddock and chips and peas!!! why do i come back here?? i really should learn, Chips old and dry left in the range to long peas were mushy well !!! very soggy and warm again not checked............really disappointed when the shop is busy there is a quick turn around, when the shop quiet it is better to cook FRESH while people wait that way you get a fresh product this shop has not learnt that or is it just laziness of the staff cooking. It seems to me that they are saving penny's and loosing customers, such a shame i will not come again but i am only one customer how many others feel the same way.

Just bought rack of ribs and chips for evening meal after a hard days work, I wish I never bothered they were not hot and tough as old boots. I have tasted better out of Makro for £2.99 unfortunately paid £8.20. Don't think I will bother going back. 4 staff were all talking to each other had to wait to be served where is the customer service.

Had cod, skate wing and chips last night, Thursday, it was great. Freshly cooked. Friendly staff. Easy parking too. Recommended.

If you want good old fashioned fish & chips this is the place. Peggottys also does a great selection of chicken and ribs and everything is freshly cooked.Have been there quite a few times and never disappointed, and staff always friendly and helpful.

Good choice of options, friendly service, good location, plenty of parking and nice portion sizes.Often pop in here on way home from work.

Bought two cod & chips and one large haddock & chips on Friday night, and they were great. The chip portions were a little smaller than they used to be, but were lovely. Fish was fabulous too. Recommended.

First time at Peggotys and food was very good ... anticipate using more frequently as new to the area ... we ordered online and didn't realize how extensive the food range was ... the ribs and chicken look really nice and plan to choose that option next time ...staff were very efficient and friendly

Really disappointed this evening as when we have visited here the food was lovely but on this occasion fish was over cooked and chips under cooked and slimy (not nice). Waited ages for the food which I expect for good food but really has put me off now and won't be going back !!!

We popped in here for lunch. Fish is cooked fresh. We ate in the restaurant. Fish and chips were lovely, would definitely recommend. Not expensive £13.00 for two medium cod and chips.Staff were friendly. Would definitely go here again.

Having used this establishment on many occasions I have no problem endorsing their product and service

I've eaten here a few times now and I've had no issues before, but last night (06/01/17) was totally different and this is somewhere I won't be going back to. Having experience in HACCP and Food Hygiene auditing, I can't help but be overly aware of where I eat and buy food from. I first noticed that the shop had a woman with a dog with her, sitting at the tables by the door! During the course of ordering and waiting for our food, I noticed a number of poor food hygiene practices; a young lady with no hair net on - her hair was swishing about during her running about serving food. A number of times I watched the fryers touching chips, wipe on their apron, handle fish, wipe on their apron and then walk out the back without washing their hands. Two occasions I noticed staff put their hands on the sink area next to the frying area; who then wiped their hands on their apron (as there was water and food debris on the surface) and then I noticed one of the guys out the back having a cigarette with all his uniform on (my staff were always made to remove their apron and hats if they were going out for a smoke, or cover themselves with a coat). The chips were quite soggy too, not their normal standard.

Portions larger than you would expect. Very popular so on a Friday and Saturday you generally have to queue. This is no problem as it always served fresh. Best in the area

Called in for a takeaway for the family after shopping. Ordered Haddock which is always cooked fresh to order so had a few minutes wait. Ordered medium sized but would hate to see large as the fish was larger than our plates! Immense portions of chips too. Would certainly call there again.

Definitely a case of 'Computer says no' in here - last night I popped in to buy a single portion of chips (to go with our own food) - yes it was quite busy, but my order was taken immediately- good start. Then I waited...and waited. Twenty eight minutes later (!) they eventually called my number out and served me the single portion of chips. Twenty eight minutes.I understand the computer probably spits out orders and tells the staff what to dish up next, but seriously, how hard would it be for someone to take the initiative and just serve up the single, solitary bag of chips and get the customer out of the door?I stood at the counter for the entirety of this time and watched the staff - many times there were several members with not-a-lot to do and I could see a lot of chips that were sitting there ready to go - but they were religiously working through the orders list and frying fish etc. Absolutely no initiative.To the owners - go to Fish & Chick'n in Pitsea or King's chip shop in Rayleigh and try the same experiment on a busy night - if it's a single portion of chips that you order, they'll just serve the chips immediately and send you on your way - they won't make you wait for the fifteen pieces of fish [that happened to be ordered before you] to be cooked before they serve you - they understand that serving you has no impact on anyone else's waiting time.Indeed, the next time I just want a single bag of chips I shall certainly drive straight past Peggotty's and on to somewhere else - it'll be a darn sight quicker.

Always buy our chips here when passing, Lovely fresh cooked chips. Fish in batter the same, fresh. Enjoy.

Thankfully only bought chips to add to home cooked meal. They were awful there was no one else in the shop and it was around 5.30pm I think the chips were the scraps left from lunchtime as there was not one chip sized chip just small hard scraps.I would not go back and am grateful I didn't spent more than the £2.70 I did on the chips I binned.

We have been visiting Peggottys for a while now - all be it for a portion of chips now and then. We heard about the new owners and were cautious but continued to visit our favourite chippy. We can honestly say the chips have never been better; double cooked, extra crispy, generous portions and a lovely curry sauce. To top it off the staff were brilliant and were more than willing to go above and beyond. We will 100% be sticking with Peggottys no matter what others think.

Was told after 20 mins that my order would be delayed Then within 10 mins was available The actual meal was not to the standard we have come to expect This is the second time this has occurred

I've been coming to this chip shop for three years now and I will never go to another chippy. The food is always cooked fresh for your order, so I don't mind the wait as I know I'm going to be given great food. The staff are always friendly and willing to help you, even if there's a queue out the door.I will always be a customer here as I know I'm getting my moneys worth. Prices have gone up by pennies only, but the portions reflect the prices of the food they serve - there's always food leftover from my meal!Well done Peggottys :-)

Restaurant? It's a local chippy with a couple of sofas and tables! The Haddock is nice and fresh but on the small side and the chips are average. The fish batter is OK but not very tasty.If you don't eat fish they regularly run out of pies.They also don't do gravy which is a real shame.Service is usally good but can be very slow when they only have unsupervised teenagers serving - they seem more interested in gossiping and making themselves milk shakes!We are regular visitors but mainly because it's convienient for us to pop in on the way home from work. Could do better!

Best place i have eaten! This is a lovely fish and chip shop! Great service, friendly faces and great food, i dont mind waiting what like 8 minutes? As i get amazing fish from it. Freshly cooked! All the people complaining about new owners need to shutup, its the exact same to me, even some of the staff are the same? Was a regular customer before the take over and i am still one now, you cant let one bad portion of chips put you off for life? If i did that then i wouldnt eat out anywhere again!

Visited Peggottys and was looking forward to enjoying some decent fresh food. Normally we enjoy eating from this local establishment. This time however the overall experience was poor. With the exception of the young lady on the till everyone else looked miserable and unwelcoming. Food was poor quality overall...however the one thing that really surprised me was hygiene. They were cleaning up as it was an hour before closing time and seemed to think it was acceptable to prepare food in between using cleaning products, biting nails and other non hygienic activities. In all fairness hands were washed after I asked them to re-prepare my food but this is basic rules for any food outlet. Come on guys, you know what good looks like so please raise your game otherwise I will not be back........

Great bit of lunch. food was all cooked fresh service was good and I would recommend to everyone. Under £10 for me and my wife and left very happy.

I have just finished eating one of the nicest bits of fish and portion of chips I've had in a long time, Yes it is very hot and probably isn't the ideal meal for such weather but I was certainly not disappointed with what I got. Chips were lovely and crisp and had been drained properly so I had no pools of oil or greasy paper in sight, I had the lunch time Cod Meal which was only £4.50 and the piece of fish I got was nice and thick and super juicy to go along with the lovely chips, I did buy a Tartare sauce to go with it but even without it tasted superb. I've seen some reviews on here (after I had been in) about packaging and some inconsistences in the food quality but I can not fault my meal, I did ask to have my food in a box and the lovely lady who served me said that it's no trouble at all. (if you don't ask you don't get I suppose) I even went back to the counter after I had finished to tell them how delicious it was.

Visited on Friday evening, got 4 meals for me and my family. Had to wait a few minutes for our fish to be cooked, which I'm pleased as very fresh and tasted delicious! Also best chips I've had in a long time. Will return and recommend. Customer service also good. Very polite staff who read back my order and kept me updated whilst my fish was being cooked.
