I appreciated that they have gluten free options with gluten free bread. I took French toast with mascarpone cream and Shetland milk. Everything was good and tasty. One little thing.. I didn't like eating in a cardboard.. however it was a minor issue and I would recommend this place to other people.

Went for breakfast, loved the coffee and the slice of their chocolate loaf. The people were great as was Merlin. He seemed very content in his cage. Liked it so much we went back for lunch. Had the vegetarian soup and a wrap. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff remembered us from the morning and Merlin's mum came to take him for a walk. He was a very happy guy. Would go back tomorrow if they were open on a Sunday.

10am and it took 20minutes to get a coffee! We were given a buzzer to wait for a coffee! They seemed as if they were doing all orders as they came in (which is fine for food orders) regardless of whether it was just drinks or food as well, so had to wait for all food orders to be made before drinks were made. There was one taking orders, one making drinks, two doing food, one of them decorating a cake to go in the fridge! Don’t seem to have the system working to the best of their customers.

I went to the Perrier shop cafe everyday during my week in Lerwick- to be honest I wasn’t expecting much because of the TripAdvisor reviews, so I was pleasantly surprised but the warmth of the welcome, friendliness of the small but efficient team and the high quality of their food and drink. The coffee is without a doubt the best in Lerwick - and possibly in the whole of Shetland! They really care about their product too, yes it is served in compostable boxes & cups but it is very tasty and generous in portion size too. By the end of the week I was greeted by name and they even had my drink on the go as I walked through the door. I’ve had breakfast and lunch here my highlights - Cullen Skink soup best I’ve had for years! French toast - top draw, their sandwiches are very filling too.

This cafe at the rear of a really nice homewares & gift shop has some basic seating downstairs and tables & booths upstairs. Service was ok although only one of the 3 behind the counter appeared able to take our order, and she had to deliver someone’s order before taking ours, fine. But the other two didn’t seem to have anything to do other than chat. Coffee, to consume at one of the tables, delivered in paper cups. Not terribly eco friendly and not what I would expect, or want frankly.

Peerie Shop Cafe was our first stop after getting off the ferry from Aberdeen. We were a little wary, as we were lugging heavy backpacks with us, but found ourselves welcomed by the staff. We decamped to the upstairs with our bags and enjoyed our first coffee on Shetland. The staff were warm and chatty, and were more than happy for us to settle at a table upstairs while we were waiting to check in at our B&B later on in the day (joking after an hour or so that we didn't need a table number, as we were now regulars). We popped in as many times as we could over the next few days. The Cullen Skink was cracking, the Sassermeat Softies were filling, and the coffee and tea soothing (especially given the chilly weather outside!) We absolutely didn't mind our drinks and food being served in recyclable containers, after all, every little helps where the environment is concerned. Well worth a visit. Lovely food, lovely ambience, lovely people.

What a shame Have been to this café many times and it used to be great Now it has completely changed No seats downstairs only small stools with holes in the middle There used to be tables there Asked if we could go upstairs where there is proper tables Given a block with a number on Ordered coffee and cake for myself and son which duly came in carry out cardboard cups and the cakes were in a paper bag even though we were sitting in We were told abruptly to put our rubbish in a large pink bin placed at the top of the stairs when we were finished which we duly did and found it to be over flowing and needing to be emptied The table was filthy covered in bits of cheese from previous occupant and we had to brush them aside ourselves No one came to clean it The coffee and cake were nice but would have been nicer in a proper coffee cup and a plate I don’t know what they are trying to do but they are failing miserably Won’t be back

The person making the drink proceeded to make the coffee in a paper cup despite having plenty of china cups in full view. I remonstrated and said, once again, that I did not want a (wasteful) paper cup. That's all we do said the young man. No flexibility. Peerie minded? Will not go there again.

People wandering around aimlessly waiting for drinks and food before ascending stairs with hot drinks and food, risk assessment done? I wonder what trade will be like in winter! I wish the owners would do something about the ventilation in this place. It reeks of a mingling of stale food and is quite nauseating. Always very crowded, with not much thought given to maintaining proper spacing out in these Covid times. The soup is invariably cold, and the stench is so overpowering that I don't see how anyone can enjoy their food. But then, some people aren't fussy where and what they eat. Also the staff are quite unfriendly and need to be taught how to be more welcoming.

This was the only place I visited in Shetland that left me feeling disappointed. We stopped in on the Wednesday after Up Helly Aa so maybe they were tired and that is the reason for surly service!! When I went to order I asked a question about diet drink selection and an older women not the girl serving says read the board!!! First of all the board was overcrowded with information, two I couldn’t see that information there. There was no queue so by asking a question I wasn’t creating a line however by the time I scanned the boards and the girl then had to answer my question someone else was waiting. I ordered a scone as was to put off to ask about other things on display or in menu. The scone wasn’t great it required both jam and butter to help it as it was incredibly dry. The young girl serving was lovely but the surly attitude and poor quality scone will ensure I certainly won’t return. This was the only place in Lerwick were a negative attitude in staff was demonstrated at such as busy time.

He came back with a damp paper towel and dusted off it slightly. The coleslaw definitely wasnt fresh and neither was the tuna. He past us the cutlery with his hand on the top where you eat from. The same guy also carried bagles I asume from a store with his bare hands and stacked up onto his dirty tshirt which he had previously wiped his nose in. I got a gluten free panini (they also do gluten free sandwiches) and my partner had a sandwich. He said the bread was really good. Both were good and tasty but pretty small for the price paid and you also have to pay extra for coleslaw or side salad which I found a little strange. I also got a gluten free (and dairy free) peanut butter cookie which was delicious and a good chai tea latte. Overall, a nice lunch in a very pleasant café with interesting filling options but in my opinion it is expensive for what it is and they also don't have a lot of choice beyond sandwiches, paninis or soup. Would be good to have options such as baked potatoes or salads available!

At the Peerie Shop Cafe, you'll find the tourists squeezing next to the locals, not only because they have the best food (they do), but also because us the ambiance and feel of the cafe, a place that takes great care to make tourists (like me) welcome, but manages to not feel at all touristy or contrived. This is where the locals gather for the truly legendary breakfasts. A full range of coffee drinks, free wifi, and the kind of place that once you've been, you want to come back every day (which I did.) They offer everything you'd expect on offer for s Shetland breakfast, and also offer vegan and vegetarian options. Some reviews mention that it's rather small and sometimes hard to find seating, but with the upstairs, and the outside seating in fine weather, we always found a table, and never had anything less than a wonderful experience. We nipped in here for a hot chocolate and bacon sandwich. The cafe was clean and I like the quirky artwork. The staff are not very friendly but obviously hard-working and quick. The food was fresh and we enjoyed our snack.

We go here on a regular basis and always enjoy a selection of warm drinks, always served with a smile and tailored to our liking. The homebaking is certainly worth a try

Homely cafe serving a good range of food - vegetarians and vegans catered for. The attached shop is full of treasures - including inspired children's books about great heroines, as well as other superb gifts.

Called in for coffee & a bite to eat while in Lerwick for the day. Sandwiches were great, especially the smoked salmon & cream cheese which they did for me on gluten free bread instead of a bagel. Other half had a scone which he said was really good & I had a gf cookie. Well worth a visit.

Having a wonder around Lerwick the day after Up Helly Aa, we pop into here for some lunch. Nice little place and we sat upstairs. Homemade tomato soup and a Brie and pesto panini, delicious! Decent prices too.

Visited with 5 friends, found the staff extremely rude and unfriendly. No smiles, kept telling us to move when we were trying to read the menu. Food was nice but a bit cheeky to have to pay extra per slice of bread with soup, and over a pound each for things like a coleslaw or salad on the side of your panini. Overall- nice food, poor service.

The place is small so expect it to be crowded. The room upstairs somehow felt a bit dull, but the food was good. Coffee needs improvement, so I'd rather go for orange juice or tea. The breakfast includes pastries, scones, bacon or egg sandwich. Try the last one.

In here today, soup was to posh for me today so had a toasted panini and a to die for cheese cake. Quick service and delivered to table. I do like how all staff have a aprons on where some local cafes don’t seem to think this vital code of hygiene necessary. Nice cup of tetly tea too.

Found this cosy wee cafe tucked behind The Peerie Shop. Excellent coffee, melt in the mouth cheescake, and liked that everything is made in the cafe, with strong eco principles. Kind of place to hide on a cold day with soup and coffee.

Let me start by saying that I hate soup, I detest it - but the home made soup here is so wonderful that I’ve eaten it three days running and would happily eat it for the rest of my life. The tea and coffee are wonderful and they supply gluten free options as well. This place is a real gem

We ate here a few times during our stay in Shetland. The Peerie shop cafe was very cosy and the food was simple but hearty and tasted amazing. it can get very busy when the cruise ships come in, so go early for lunch!

When you first realise that the building is actually a shop you are delighted to have found somewhere to buy food or in fact almost anything else you can think of. The bakery section is particularly welcome for hungry explorers. It’s a shame they don’t still have the DIY cafe.

Well appointed restaurant with fantastic views. We had a lunch and a dinner there. For dinner, venison, duck and pavlova all delicious. Cranachan ice cream very tasty but not what we would expect cranachan to be. Service perfectly reasonable. All very good, but not 5* excellent. Would go again.

Friendly staff, good food, plenty of gluten free options. First time I visited there was hardly any customers but the second time it was very busy so I was glad I reserved a table.
