Just revisited Cafe Jardin ( formerly called " Peace , Love & Cake " ) in Royton , Oldham , for a late breakfast / early lunch !! Food as lovely as ever - I had rhe hot roast beef muffin off the " Specials " board - great service too - the owners really look after you and make you feel welcome . Immaculately clean , easy to park right behind it - we will be visiting again soon , I am sure. Thank you 😁

This place is very clean and very good with customer service. Food was lovely and fresh, I pre ordered the falafel wrap and just to be sure I rang up on the day as I am a very fussy eater (strict vegetarian with no eggs or fish) they were happy for me to ring up not once but twice ( I was just making sure has it was my first visit) Thankyou again hope to come back soon.

The perfect venue for a meet up with my "school friend" today, the environment is spotlessly clean & tastefully furnished. As always the menu is more than adequate and the taste & presentation spot on. We were able to converse with background music not ringing in your ears. Karen & Ged are busy hosts but always have time to have a word. I hear they're now open for Sunday Breakfast 10 30 to 12.30, if you're thinking just book to ensure a table.

Still apprehensive about dining out, however on a day when kitchen inaccessible we decided on a takeaway. Having visited in the past ordered from here, we had a ciabatta choice plus a regular tuna salad sandwich. Fifteen minutes after ordering we parked at the rear of business phoned the lovely Karen and she brought the bagged order to us. The surprise was included in the deal is a hot tea or coffee or cold drink plus my favourite Walkers plain crisps. Call me fussy I don't care much for flavoured crisps. We took our lunch to the park where I provided napkins and a clean cloth for the bench. Don't hesitate to try it's worth the extra money to support local businesses. I also hear you can dinein and take advantage of the Monday to Wednesday government scheme. New name but still same owners as before.

Peace, Love & Cake recently hosted our Granddaughter's 2nd Birthday Party and what a party! Karen and Ged were very helpful with the prior arrangements and the party food on the day was outstanding. We opted for the afternoon tea menu and the savouries were only out shone by the desserts! a special mention must go to the chocolate dipped strawberries which were a hit with everyone. Below is a sample of the comments we received from our guests:- 'wonderful party, loved every minute, lovely food, great day, buffet was fab, party food was great' So as you can see a great time was had by all. Thank you so much to Ged and Karen for a truly wonderful party which has provided all who attended with memories to cherish.

It's a really nice environment inside - the staff were helpful, and service quick. Although the food was a little expensive, the portion sizes are very generous and the food was good. Based on the food and service, I'd recommend. Unfortunately they only take cash for payment, which will suit some people, but for me personally this means I wont be returning as I don't carry cash, preferring to pay via card/apple pay and do not wish to have to visit a cash machine, albeit nearby just to be able to visit.

My friend bought afternoon tea here for both of us as part of my birthday present. There was a table reserved for us with a lovely white tablecloth and two china cups and saucers together with cutlery. They brought the pot of tea in a lovely large China teapot. Then our food came. There were four selections of sandwiches, three different small quiche each, two small Victoria sandwich cakes, one traditional and one lemon, two different small tarts each together with a large truffle type chocolate. Part way through, they brought us a small scone each, sliced in half with jam and clotted cream on. They were warm too but nothing melted. The lady who served us was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Made us feel really comfortable. My friend asked for a couple of boxes to take some home because we couldn’t eat it all and the gentleman who was working there, and who I believe owns it, brought the boxes. He too was very nice and really friendly. I would have no hesitation recommending here. Simply the best!

Peace Love and Cake is fantastic - cafe by day, tapas restaurant on selected evenings. The only care culture we have had in Royton for the thirty odd years before this little place came along was your typical greasy spoon type place. Peace Love and Cake is more like somewhere you might find on holiday in Devon, it's lovely. It gets very busy and is very popular with Mother's and babies/toddlers, so if you don't like children or the noise they make then go and get yourself coated in the odour of greasiness at one of Royton's lesser cafes. Food always good, lots of Mexican and Mediterranean type dishes to choose from and I have found them accommodating if you want to tweak the ingredients for any reason. Vegetarians are pretty well catered for.Nice clean toilet with a perfectly serviceable baby nappy fold down table - plenty of room in here too. The couple who run PL&C are lovely people, coffee is better than insipid Starbucks, as good as Costa, but not so strong as Cafe Nero, which is too strong for many peoples tastes anyway. They also do tea in a pot - yes, loose leaf last time I looked, and a selection of herbal teas.Me and my toddler like to while away some time drinking coffee (me) and eating jam on toast (toddler) whilst watching the world go by outside.Cash only but there is a cash machine next door.If you are not from Royton and plan to visit, remember that PL&C is not a restaurant in city centre Manchester, it is first and foremost a cafe in Royton - but as cafes anywhere go it is superb and retains a very personal and friendly atmosphere and style of service. There are a couple more restaurants in Royton now, but for somewhere to go during the day P&L&C cannot be beaten - and when it opened it was probably the most cosmopolitan establishment to open here since Zip and his deli - and if you remember that you probably live in Royton and know exactly what I mean.

Unfortunately the vast array of colourful ice creams have been replaced by a Mr Whippy machine. Why would anyone substitute for Mr Whippy, I don't know! Whereas there once used to be a really good desert menu, there is now just a list of 3 cakes on the board. There used to be a really good selection of cupcakes too, but these have gone also. I have eaten here a few times and it has been nice each time. The food is good value and not expensive, the interior is clean and bright. The service can sometimes be a bit hit and miss with me having to wait at least twenty minutes to order a drink on some occasions and the staff seeming a bit stressed during busy periods. It is a nice café but just be warned at how busy it can get, especially during lunch service, where you will find it hard to grab a coffee to go, never mind a table. However on this visit, all the freshly made cakes had been removed, and instead we were given what looked like cakes that had been bought in, in bulk and not a patch on the carrot cake, chocolate brownies we used to enjoy here.

Called in at lunchtime, it was extremely busy and there were no seats available so we stood by the "wait here to be seated sign". There appeared to be one waitress serving and two people preparing food. The waitress walked past us several times not once giving any eye contact. We waited for over 5 minutes and gave in and left in disgust - it wouldn't have cost any of these staff members anything to acknowledge our presence, if they had told us there would be a time to wait then that would have been fine, we were prepared to wait but to be totally ignored was unacceptable so we took our custom elsewhere. Obviously can't comment on the food but on watching the preparations going on I don't think I missed much.

With the offers for dishes and early bird offer, meal was very reasonable too. The food was reasonably priced and the staff were happy to make some "off menu" dishes for us - the chicken ceasar salad being one of them. Only quibble would be that in order for us to fit, a wobbly table was added to the end of a booth however this did not detract from the evening. I bought cake to take home for hubby & ice cream to take to my dad but there was no cake box or lid for the ice cream, so I think that could be improved, although the staff were happy to offer cling film / tin foil.Because of the loyalty card scheme, I've already earned a free coffee, which is a nice touch. The front door is poor in terms of access for prams & wheelchairs, so I recommend asking if there is more accessible doors at the rear.

Really enjoyed our friday night tapas night here and glad we went. The atmosphere was lovely our rosé sangria made at the table a lovely teach and we had a lovely girl who waited on us.The food was really great quality and decent portion sizes,We would mot hesitate to go again but could only make it regular if they added some extra dishes, perhaps more Spanish dishes such as spanish omelette, croquettes etc and include some chicken dishes as being a none red meat or fish eater I did struggle a little bit with what to order, although my husband had no issue so any meat eaters won't either. If you are think of booking don't hesitate, you will enjoy the food, service and atmosphere. The only slight constructive feedback to the owners was the bad draught when the kitchen or toilet doors opens, we sat near the kitchen door and my legs were cold as there was a very cold wind every time the kitchen door was opened and it was a relatively warm evening.

Peace, Love & Cake opened up quite recently near to where we live. Unfortunately, in this area of Oldham we have seen the rise and fall of so many good restaurants. Lately, I have felt so dejected with this. Restaurants start off wonderfully and then either change management or chefs, so you are back to square one and left out in the cold. It has made me feel as though there are just no more decent, local restaurants to enjoy......until now. I have been three or four times to this restaurant, and I truly believe that every time I have dined, I have felt rejuvenated! It sounds sad, but it's most definitely true. The venue is a coffee and cake shop by day, and a tapas restaurant one night a week. I have only experienced the evening menu: and what an experience it is. Reservations are a must, as the dining area is very small. This may be intimidating to some at first, however, I assure you that it allows this lovely, intimate dining atmosphere. The decor is simple, yet effective. It takes the less is more approach. The welcome is second to none. All members of staff endeavour to make sure that you are relaxed and at home.In regards to drink, if you are to go "all out", I would recommend the Sangria. There is a selection of red, rose or white wine Sangria. Just to make it all the more magical, your server will make it in front of you. (A theatrical, distinctive dining experience such as this is such a rarity these days!) These "culinary performances" sometimes extends to the special side dishes: just ask and the staff will tell you.Phew! Now to the tapas! The prices are extremely reasonable. For two people, you can dine very comfortably between four to six tapas dishes, making your meal a steal! (Didn't realise I had rhymed there!) I would recommend the house salad, hummus and tzatziki with pitta bread, lamb with spices and butter beans, flat-bread pizza and spanish meatballs. The dishes are full of flavour, and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. My only criticism, is that it is only open for tapas on Fridays. Yet, this makes it all the more special! This place is now one of my favourite restaurants. It has beaten so many disappointing and pretentious places in Manchester, hands down. Whether you are dining with your family, or having a special a romantic meal with your loved one, I couldn't recommend this place enough... ...but please don't go too much as I have to make a trip back soon! :)Thank you to all the staff at Peace, Love and Cake for this precious local gem.(Oh, I desperately need to come in during the day for a coffee and a piece of cake!)

We had the best white sangria I have ever tasted which was made at our table & tasted absolutely delicious!! They served complimentary fresh warm rolls & oils whilst we were waiting for our food. The tapas were lovely - although not an extensive menu, if there was a wider choice I think you'd want to go back simply to sample them all! I also wish they had a few gluten-free options, (many tapas restaurants do these days), then we could take along my coeliac friend and her husband I know they'd love it!

Try to go more for afternoon tea with my mum but it's always full and I know why it's fab! Please make it bigger expand it would be a gold mine! Great service and quality food you can tell they use top quality ingredients. I like the Spanish and Greek influences reminds me of my jolly holidays. The milkshakes are delicious and it's the only place I know that do iced teas and there the best I have ever tasted, when the restaurant is full I still pop in for a takeaway of my fix of iced tea. Keep up the good work!

We went there to the tapas night tonight and were amazed how they make the sangria at your table - the staff were really good at what they do, and friendly too - even have brightly coloured bags with toys for young children to play with. Can't wait to go again!!

We regularly spend a Friday lunchtime enjoying an excellent coffee and fresh home-baked treat at Peace, Love & Cake. The place is lovely & bright, with friendly attentive staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Stopping to let an hour drift by in Royton has never been better! The savoury meals are delicious too, with a Mediterranean flavour typified by tasty flatbreads and ideal for either an informal business lunch or just meeting up with good friends.Highly recommended.

Always have lunch at the cafe when visiting family in Shaw, great food and great prices as well. Coming from Sheffield, cafes similar to this are roughly twice the price for what you get here and not as tasty food! I recommend the nachos as well its great to share. Can be busy on weekends but the food is always delish!

Took my 5 year old nephew after school for a treat and he loved it. The ice creams were beautiful and an interesting choice. We were not rushed out despite it being quite bust and the staff were lovely evening handing my nephew a lollypop on the way out.

Beautiful cakes, friendly service , plus you can get the cake to take away if you have no room left after lunch! With my business hat on, both my salad and slice of cake were too much to finish in one go so perhaps smaller portions would be sensible? But hey as a customer great value for money :-))

Visited this amazing coffee shop a few times and never fails to satisfy my thirst and hunger. The Gingerbread latte is better than Starbucks and served all year round! The caramel milkshakes are to die for...they may be calorific but who cares!! All the staff make you feel valued and welcomed. The food is all home-made and so tasty - perfect for a lunch out with friends and family! If you like cakes...this is the place for you. The hard part is deciding which cake to choose - so many different cakes to indulge in.Keep up the good work :) x

Me and my husband take our 2 year old daughter every week. I have the choc brownie with Oreo cookie ice cream and a pot of tea (creature of habbit- but delicious habbit!) Hubbs tries all the different coffees and cakes, and sandwiches. Daughter has the ice cream and a juice. The service is fab and they provide nice bags containing books to keep the little one occupied, which we think is a nice touch. It's clean and has a lovely 'family run' feel.

This cafe on the main road in Royton is a gem of a find. Not only do they serve a great cup of coffee( I had the flat white which easily bettered some of the big chains) but the cakes of which there is a big selection are fresh and reasonably priced I went back for more cake. The ice cream is delicious and the luxury hot chocolate was heavenly. The service comes with a smile and my daughter fell in love with this place. Will be back soon.

Discovered the Hidden Garden over a year ago now and it’s one of my favourite places to go. Great coffee (no additional charges for milk alternatives), beautiful views and dog friendly! The little treats they serve your dog are an added bonus (no charge either!) my pooch loves a visit. We have been in all weathers, although most of the seating area is outside there are some wonderful covered nooks to curl up with blankets galore and even a pizza stove burning logs to keep you warm in the winter. The cakes and food are delicious and the additional pop up food stalls they host are brilliant. Highly recommend for a cosy catch up away from the high street bustle.

Stopped to have a glance at the menu as decided on Sunday breakfast out. Chatting away to a chap, the owner I think, made to feel very welcome. Good choice of different dishes, decided on the Rarebit and "A Bit Of Both On Toast", which was lovely cheese and homemade baked beans. Both were delicious and good coffee to boot. And our furry companions loved the fussing and the doggie menu! Planning a return visit soon for Sunday lunch!
