Payiz Mediterranean Restaurant Cafe & Bar in Lewisham

Booked a table for friends for a meal. On arrival as per our booked time slot there was a private party going on and we had to wait some 15-20 minutes while they cleared the private party and prepped tables etc. Other diners in front of us also waiting. On being seated we were given menus but no drinks order taken for another 15 minutes despite the long wait for our table amid the private party still filling the restaurant. It took some time for the private party to leave and it wss very noisy. We then had a long wait for drinks to arrive. We ordered a sharing platter and when it arrived the salad was straight out of a packet and lacked any type of Turkish or Mediterranean authenticity which was a great shame. It was a salad for one person not four! The sharing platter is £72 for four but what you get isn’t enough for 4 and it’s all on one plate, rice with meats on top. We asked for extra bread which never arrived and nobody came to offer extra drinks etc. Service was dreadful. Staff smashed some glassware close to where we were sitting but nobody came to check we were ok. Lots of staff on but a lack of good service was an issue. Staff did apologise when we left but didn’t make it clear what for. Given the long wait for our booked table and arriving to a restaurant full up with a private party was very disappointing. It would have been good customer service to at least offer a free drink or something to acknowledge the long wait but nothing was offered. As the night went on, lights were initially very bright and later dimmed but not until just before we were leaving. There were lots of young children around and toddlers and one child screaming playing at the table next to us which was very offputting as a table booked for an evening meal with friends. (Not the restaurants fault) but extremely offputting. Extremely bad manners on the adults part not acknowledging it is a restaurant full of diners not a children’s play area! The music seemed to change from being extremely loud that we couldn’t hear ourselves to being slightly lowered upon request to then being turned up incredibly loud again. The food wasn’t bad, the salad was out of a packet and our additional bread we asked for never arrived. We were only given side plates for our mains, not dinner plates. On arrival of the sharing platter we still had our dirty starters plates and no plates or clean cutlery. Staff seemed very disorganised. Whilst we were still eating there were coming to take our plates despite us having just told staff we were still eating. I would t recommend this restaurant and I wouldn’t eat here again. Not recommended for an adult evening meal as lots of young children and prams and very noisy. At one stage I could have believed I was at a MacDonalds kids party. If you are looking for a place to eat with adults I wouldn’t recommend coming here.

Mediterranean cuisine in Lewisham. 5 minutes walk from DLR / Train station. Tried the mix grill , chicken with yogurt, mushrooms - all nicely done and tasty. Their bread is superb and enjoyed the meal . Ending the lunch with a cup of Turkish Tea with Turkish Delight ! Price is reasonable . Place can be pretty busy. Best advice is to make a reservation before heading there .

Superb food, great ambiance, and excellent service. The staffs are accommodating and entertaining. Will definitely come back.

I was staying at the nearby Premier Inn and saw this restaurant was close by. It has a lovely atmosphere. It is tastfully decorated and I was made to feel welcome by staff. I ordered a chicken kebab with salad and bread with a garlic sauce. It was very tasty and I had a Turkish tea to finish. If you are staying nearby it is ideal. I really enjoyed it. thank you

I was staying at the Premier Inn next door and Payiz looked tempting so I went there for dinner. It was a good choice, the food was great and the staff were very friendly and attentive without overdoing it. I wish I lived closer, I'd be a regular.

The service and atmosphere is consistently amazing 👏🏽 The staff are attentive and pleasant. They love to provide excellent customer service and they really take care of each and every customer. Every need is met and they are happy to help at any time. It's a child friendly environment.

What a fantastic place. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and made to feel so comfortable throughout our stay because the staff are amazing. The food was outstanding and the portion sizes were huge! My favourite restaurant in Lewisham, food and service is always amazing. We always try different things on the menu and everything so far been amazing.

Wow. What a find. We stumbled across this restaurant one evening and were so impressed with the staff. They made us feel right at home. The service was excellent. I had the best vegetarian moussaka in a very long while, whilst my friend enjoyed the grilled chicken burger. I only wish I lived nearer as I would love to make a return visit.

I highly recommend Payiz for an all round excellent experience. The customer service was excellent. I could not fault the staff they went above and beyond. The food was excellent, generous and plentiful, The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxing. I would definitely be going back.
