Paul’s Chippy Sarn in Bridgend

Well this place has gone down hill the batter on the fish is very chewy on one side and very soggy on the other and the chips look if they been there for a week !

If I go to BurgerKing I end up shelling out 25 quid for a snack for my family. Paul's Chippy is always under 20 quid and I feed the whole mob. Great staff , great value. Love Paul's

Had jumbo sausage in batter and chip, chips have been cooked and reheated and sausage must of been a day old food was terrible

Went to get chips 7pm, got kicked out told place was closing immediately. Threw a queue of customers out, no explanation, staff lady was super rude. Won’t ever be going back again.

As a local to Paul's Chippy I use it quite often . Never had any issues here staff are always friendly . Food is always to a good standard . I have noticed over the last 2 years the chip 🍟 portion sizes seem to have reduced but this is as expected and effecting all businesses apart from that no complaints about Paul's Chippy

I called here recently and was dissapointed. I ordered cheese and chips , the cheese was fine but chips were not nice.

Omg! The worst fried cod I’ve ever tasted. Luke warm with chewy batter.

The service was great and staff were friendly. Food was really nice and enjoyable.

Not happy with the chips overcooked very disappointed won't go again

Going on my own and a friends experience recently, RUBBISH!! Fish, well the batter is like a sponge, no crisp to it at all, the chips are overcooked and hard, sausages, and the ones in batter overcooked, burnt batter, bitter taste, gravy is something you'd pack a brick wall with and the curry sauce feels like you've just drunk the ocean with the amount of salt!! Neither myself or a friend (not having access to Internet) will go again or recommend

Girls are lovely that work here. Food is nice and reasonably priced (in line with inflation). The gravy and curry (red) are particularly tasty! Would recommend.

First time getting fish & chips from here. The chips were OK, the mushy peas were very good but the cod was awful. The batter was thick and soft, not crispy at all. It was basically raw on the underside of one piece that we had and we ended up binning it. I honestly don't know how they thought it was OK? I wish I'd taken a picture but didn't think at the time. Probably won't go back there again unfortunately unless they change the person cooking the food.

Staff was rude talking about customers behind d the counter when you can hear them and portions small.

Love this chippy. Even a cone of chips is a decent portion, "small" can feed three and large is only for a famished appetite. Always good, hot food here and staff are friendly and efficient 👍

Walked in faced with only got chips shouted at me in , what an attitude

I know can be very busy and hot in this environment but the staff quite often can be very slow when serving ( even when they're not waiting for food to cook) but the chips are excellent. Best in area.

The lady behind the counter couldn't have been more rude if she tried, as if it was my fault they had run out of fish, battered sausages and pies, so had to settle just for chips, which were poor at best. Had to battle my way past the local reprobates that were hanging around the door, which I know isn't their fault.

Gone downhill massively over the last 12 months, look at the state of those chips! Burnt and minging! It's no wonder everyone is going to Bettws chippy instead these days

Bought fish and chips, chips were ok batter on fish was uncooked, sent pics, they read them but no reply…phoned and left message still no reply…wont be returning

Greasy fish, looked huge but was covered in very thick, soggy batter. Large chips to share between 2, would have fed 4 comfortably. Gangs of semi feral kids milling about on bikes and scooters on the pavement outside throwing rubbish at parked cars and trying to kick the bin over whilst shouting obscenities at each other would have put me off going in by myself as a lone female, luckily son was with me so I waited in the car outside.

Meal was lovely and hot. Arrived quickly. Portion sizes good However I feel I cannot give more than two due to customer service. An item was missed off my order which I paid for so one person in our party didn’t have their meal. Two telephone calls. One answerphone message and one text and still no response. I won’t use their service again which is a shame as everything else was good.

Recently the chips are not very nice. Between 2007 and 2020 I probably never had more than one bad bag of chips. They were excellent and very generous with the portions. But since around 2021 most bags of chips I've had from there have been way below their own standards. I don't understand what's going on with the place recently but they seriously need to pull their finger out. I shall now be travelling slightly further to Aberkenfig for my chips.

The Chips are always fresh and good value for money paid.

Not a bad chippy at all, tikka bites are awesome and the portions are generous, it's just a bit run down, not the staffs fault, they do a good job, it just needs a bit of money spent to update it a bit.

Awful food I had today. Pie was soggy like it had been prepared. The wife had fish and there was more bones than meat. Really disappointed. Back to aberkenfig chippy for us. Usually decent in the past but really disappointed.

Asked for large cod ended up with large cod which was small cod with extra long batter! Disappointing!

Worst fish and chips I ever had the pleasure of being overcharged for. The cod looked as though it had been washed up on a beach somewhere last year. Some went into the dog the rest in the bin, never again!

Wouldn't bother, gets worse every time, just had fish and chips and both are absolutely terrible, fish is like rubber along with the batter and the chips are white and floating in grease, would give it a ZERO, but won't let me, travel further if I was you!!!!

Always super friendly staff, lovely food and absolutely massive portions. A small chips is 2x a regular chips, a large is a bag of potatoes worth.

Normally a great chip shop, but obviously struggling to keep up now that they’ve fully reopened. Order was mixed up and instead of getting two small sausages in batter I was provided with two large normal sausages, no salt and vinegar despite asking for it, and the fish was soggy - after asking, apparently you have to ask for crispy fish despite the staff never prompting if I’d like it crispy and zero signage in the store regarding this. The chips themselves still tasted great, however. Staff also apologised and replaced the fish for free, alongside another bag of chips despite me asking repeatedly to only have the fish.

The worst fish I ever had, chips were ok but fish wasn't fresh, butter cook only partially, dripping with oil. To be honest I don't understand where all this good reviews coming from.

Is giving you such a low rating for your staffs attuide and lack of customer service I will not be calling at any of your chip shop again. My son visited your shop in heol ysgol and ordered a large bag of chips and when questioned the young girl got told you either have this or nothing at all. The poison didn't even fill a bowl and that had to be shared between 2 people resulting us to go else where. I got the name of the young girl. And I will be ringing back Monday to speak to the manger but from this evening you have lost a customer. You need to teach your staff about customer service skills and how to talk to customers before you lose anymore. If it had been me I would of told the girl where to stick her chips but my son is shy. And didn't want the embrassmemt.

Haven't tried all of the menu, but what i have tried was worth the money. The gravy is especially nice. As are the pies. Get over and make your own mind up
