Patara - Soho in City of London, Westminster

At first I was Very disappointed to get this tiny portion of Tofu with cashew . Why does this dish have no taste? Did you forgot the seasoning? And what I dissliked the most was the consistence of the tofu. Its spongy and tasteless. Why cant resturant not learn to cook tofu so you like it? Guess this is the cheapest radiets way. Not ordering from Patara again

Good food, and excelent service. Nice and clean, and goodt atmosphere. Lots of seatings. New tastes for this of us not too familuar with thai food. A little expensive.

The food here is excellent and the ambience is peaceful and spacious. Being within a minute of Old Compton street and 5 minutes of Chinatown, a reliable eatery where there is zero rush makes this our haunt of choice when passing through the West end

We had our table booked for 5.30pm we ordered off the set menu designed for 2 People, when our main course arrived I noticed the rice was just tepid I asked the waitress to get it headed up! We started to tuck into the rest of the food and again this was all less than tepid it was cold to touch! Sea bass prawns broccoli!!! We complained again, the sea bass, broccoli &pawns were taken away again to reheat, we were left with the pad Thai and rice After a couple of minutes the staff came and took all the food away to reheat They brought back refreshed menu When I asked for my bill absolutely no concession was given to us! Our dinning experience was somewhat spoilt so therefore I did not think we should have had to pay the full amount!!! I asked for the manager to take back the bill and redo it with some concession! She brought it back with the service charges removed and 10% discount! To be honest I still don’t think that was enough as they had a deal in January for 10% off the total bill We were brought 2 glasses of wine after we complained which we were able to finish Our meal was somewhat spoiled and cost us £127.80

I’ve been going to Patara for the past year and a half and it always a pleasure! The staff is always professional and polite, and the food is amazing!!

All the food was excellent. We had Water spinach, Bok Choy and etc. all food was cooked perfectly and the service was exceptional.

Genuinely some of the best Thai cuisine I've ever had. Could not fault the food, drinks or service.

The Soho branch is my favourite. Odd to say, but their food is on a different level compared to other branches. Their lamb shank was tender and tasty, so good!

I can not rave enough about this quaint little restaurant in the heart of Knightsbridge. The BEST Thai food I have tasted in a while. And I am a big Thai fan. I am planning to bring all my friends here. We are always looking for amazing places and as Thai food goes this is as authentic as it gets. The staff and service are impeccable. I was served by Wee and Cartoon and I can honestly say they were friendly, but above all did not keep their eyes off me incase I needed a top up or anything else. Very warm friendly staff who clearly know what top tier service looks like. They charged my phone for me, I didn’t want longer than expected for my food, the Merlot was perfect. I will be raving about this restaurant until the end of time. It’s definitely made the list. And am thinking to bring the rest of the girls through as their Jan offer is outstanding!! Check the pics for more info. I also spied another tables Seanass and lamb shank. My goodness. On the next hit list for sure! Honestly, Thai food is my weakness and the staff and food have won over my heart for good. And their offer until the end of Jan and business set meal offer is amazing!!! Without doubt my favourite Thai in London!! I didn’t get a chance to take a pic of my food as my phone was very kindly on charge by the staff but the plates were straight out the warmer, the food was on a candle keeping warm while I ate, I packed what I could to go. Food was good just way to sweet for me, I've had dishes in many countries never have these dishes been this sweet, pad Thai, red curry was just too sweet for me.

One of the best Thai restaurants in London. Delicious and authentic Thai food. Nice service. The beautiful reception (Alisha) takes care customers very well. Tom yum goong and Khoa soi are sooooooo goooood. Highly recommended!!!!

Very friendly personnel. However I didn’t like the way my noodle was prepared. It was watery and looks different from the picture on the menu card. I complaint about this and they were very professional and friendly with their response which I really appreciate.

Have been to Patara many times, the service and food is always excellent. This evening however was exceptional, we ordered the signature menu as a group which came with a wide variety of dishes that were all unique and very flavourful from the starters, soup, mains and dessert. The cocktails were also great, lots of them with a Thai twist to them. Would highly recommend, youre always going to get excellent food at great value and with friendly service from knowledgeable and attentive staff.

The food was absolutely delicious. Service was excellent as was the wait time for food & drinks. Amongst the best Thai food we've had, including that had in Thailand. It's not cheap but worth it for quality they serve.

I don’t know if the issue was more the table near the entrance door or the dry pad thai, but this dinner wasn’t the memorable experience I was expecting, definitely too expensive for what it was. The beef panang was good though.

We went for a special anniversary meal, but not blown away by the food. Fish cakes were surprisingly rubbery. Chicken sate OK. We had 2 of the special meat dishes, but mine was a bit fatty. Flavours ok, but nothing special. Normally, I expect really fresh flavours, but perhaps ordered the wrong dishes. We paid the price for eating in Soho, but didn't feel it was good value for money or special enough for our Anniversary.

Amazing food, very flavoursome! I had the khao soi with the braised beef and the prawn rice rolls and it was honestly one of the best Thai foods ever 😍 Mr Wee was also an amazing host and was so cheerful and kind 😊 highly recommend!

Went for lunch on a Saturday. Soho was crazy busy and we went in. First thing that hits you is this place is visually lovely. Very tasteful, and almost a perfect Thai ambience. The staff were extremely friendly and showed us to our table. There were three occupied tables in the whole time we were there in the upstairs area. There was no one dining in the expansive downstairs. This did detract from the restaurant vibe somewhat. The service from Belle and here colleague was excellent - prompt and efficient and friendly. I note no one asked if the food was OK but thats not an issue really. The starters were good, but not off the charts and at £10 each seemed a little underwhelming. The Pad Thai main was also nice, but not quite "up there". The chicken massaman was OK but not great. Not bad enough to complain over but very underwhelming. It seemed to lack the blend of spices you normally experience. At £150 for 3, which was 4 starters, 3 mains, 2 sides and 5 soft drinks plus water it seemed expensive for the taste. So overall its hard to rate because the place is lovely, the staff are friendly and the service is great but the food wasnt brilliant and the price seemed heavy. Worth a visit - absolutely. Worth a return, unlikley with so many other great restaurants in the area.

The food is ok and I wouldn't say it's fine dining. There are definitely similar quality if not better Thai restaurants near by. Its ok but not sure I will be going again for a while. Id take Thai square over this.

A great evening - had never visited before but found online and made a reservation for a date. Lovely food and atmosphere, and really friendly and helpful staff. Huge menu with pictures which was very helpful! Would recommend and will definitely visit again.

Had the wild ginger beef and a Thai tea. Beef was super tender. The chunks of ginger were a nice texture and hit of spice. Was with my mom who had the coconut beef and I tried that as well. Beef was tender in it also and had a wonderful flavor if you enjoy the taste of beef in general. Best Thai food I've ever had in my life to be honest.

Went for a 3 course meal with my partner, the food was good but it more of a inspired dish rather than authentic dish. Still very tasty but the flavours did not hit as well as I would expect thai food would be. Amazing dessert, cannot fault that. Lovely staff and medium noise level but seem a little quite to me as table next to me was listening to the conversation. Overall great dinner experience and would give the place a go again.

Went for lunch here with a friend and got to try mushroom tom kha, chicken satay, cashew chicken and chicken pad Thai, all were really nice, especially the tom kha which I'd never tried before. I'd definitely recommend but specifically for lunch as they have a good deal of £19.95 for 2-course lunch which is worth the money. The service was very good too.

The pad thai was delicious. Fast service so you can easily go for a pre-theatre meal. Staff are very welcoming and polite . Great selection of fruity cocktails.

Patara, fine dining Thai cuisine. An epitome, an emblem and emancipation of delightful Thai food. Thai restaurants have multiplied voraciously over the past 5 years. But Patara has stood the test of time and aged well with his few branches delivering iconic food. The Soho branch has to be my favourite. The ground floor decor and the warm, affectionate staff really leave an indelible impression. An occasion such as a birthday is worthy to be celebrated here. Chor Muang is a signature starter here, a unique dumpling combination is a must. The ginger beef with spicy rice noodles as a main and lamb massama curry with coconut rice was the other. Either main is a brilliant combination which I will let you choose to decide as I could not split both gastric experiences. So visit, enjoy and make a memorable evening albeit at a slightly expensive cost :).

Enticed by positive reviews- unfortunately, this restaurant did not live up to expectations. Firstly, we were seated downstairs, which smelled damp. Lots of overpowering plug-in air fresheners formed a nasty taste in our mouths. The waiters were friendly but it took a long time to be served. Food was way too expensive for the quality- veg pad Thai was padded out with large chunks of cauliflower and the tofu was undercooked. The pad Thai also had far too much tamarind, which smothered any other flavour in the dish. Cocktails were pleasant but very expensive for what you get. On the topic of pricing, five tiny spring rolls for a starter cost £9.50- very overpriced. Similarly, red curry was £16.95 and you need to order rice separately. The quality overall was worse than our local takeout and almost double the price.

The atmosphere of the restaurant will make you feel like you are in Thailand. However, make sure to book a table in the groundfloor where the decoration is really special, otherwise you may be disappointed. The only downside is that i feel the menu changed a bit over the last few years, which makes it less appealing than before.

I'm Thai, my parents are head chefs for Thai restaurants across London, over the last 40 years, and we're a food loving family. This restaurant was absolutely mind blowing one of the best Thai foods I've been lucky to enjoy in London. The best part about this restaurant were the staff. They were so welcoming, really professional and made the whole experience just so wonderful - impeccable service. I highly recommend the Penang the tom yum soup - actually everything we had was five stars. Can't wait to come back

Came here for dinner on a Friday evening after visiting an exhibition nearby. I saw the rating and reviews before making a reservation at this place thinking it would be good to try but honestly I was very disappointed with the food quality, of all things. We ordered the chili calamari as a starter to share but it was so bland with absolutely no salt or pepper in the batter and the batter itself was way too thick. The squid was obviously also over-fried and it was very hard to chew, what a poor starter for our meal. We complained to the waiter about it but we didn't even get an apology or offer to check with the kitchen. Also wasn't deducted on our bill. For mains, we went with prawn pineapple curry with coconut rice on the side and pad Thai with chicken. The curry was average, nothing exceptional to comment on this dish. The pad Thai was once again way too dry, couldn't taste much tamarind or fish sauce in the base and the chicken was very dry as well so it's basically just double dryness in this noodle dish. Vibes were good, nice interior design and normal level of noise as we were able to talk without having to shout but I didn't get why they were playing western songs in the background when it's a Thai place. Some local Thai music would have been so much better atmosphere wise. Service was the only good thing I suppose, friendly and smiley staff greeting us from entrance until exit. But frankly speaking I won't come back to this place ever again. It's not authentic or delicious at all.

Exceptional restaurant. Menu with so many choices. I really enjoyed my pork and prawn dumplings and my prawn and lemongrass salad. The house cocktail was divine. A lovely atmosphere with an intoxicating fragrant smell. Will be back very soon!

I would’ve rated this a four/five stars as the food is excellent but it was completely let down by the service. The staff are friendly and charming but truly terrible and very disorganised. We were a party of six and one person’s starter came out during the main course, the rest came out in drinks and drabs. The main courses arrived piecemeal, one order was completely wrong and, as we were waiting until everyone was ready to eat, some of us had to eat cold food. A round of drinks was forgotten… it’s very expensive for a somewhat disappointing dining experience.

We absolutely love this restaurant and the great people here, we dine here several times each year and leave longing to return! The food is fresh, delicious, and truly authentic Thai cuisine. Treat yourself to a fantastic meal and book a table!

The food was great, so good that I hoovered it all up before I got to take any photos 😂 I had the coconut braised beef! Loved it! The prawns curry is also excellent and so was the spring rolls, and the dumplings too! fake plants and fake candles on the tables 😳 why? Could be more creative there as the space is lovely! Overall I enjoyed my experience, and I will come back for the food for sure!

After a busy day in Central, I was really keen on some Thai food. Family were up for it, a quick check on trip advisor recommended me this restaurant. Called and mentioned we didn't have a reservation and they were able to accommodate. Lovely setting, and it was a great staff but the best bit was the food. It was epic. The whole family enjoyed it. Was cooked to perfection. Excellent options for both meat and veggies. Only slight disappointment was lager wise only Singha was available but no biggie. Would highly recommend, if I was ever in the area again would certainly return. Thank you.

A lovely restaurant. They really made us feel welcome. Didn’t feel rushed to leave and they really payed attention to the finer detail which is rare these days. I.e separated our bills, served us water without being asked, food came out fast and was delicious. One of the best places I’ve been to in a while in London. Well done to the owners and the team / staff.

Visited on a Sunday at 5pm and was seated straight away. Fantastic food of high quality and great ambiance too. Pad Thai and Lamb shank were great portions and they changed one of the orders around upon request. Mocktails were also very tasty. I can see why people said it’s too dark inside because the lights were dimmed whilst we were eating but I didn’t mind. My friend who wears glasses took a bit of adjusting. Overall I would recommend this place just be prepared to spend a little.

Food 3* —was Ok but i missed this wow factor.. was not spicy , a bit boring … except dumping— excellent Service 5* — grate Atmosphere 4* Price 2* —- 3 starter + 3 mains + bottle wine = 280£ —- average 3,5* Do I plan visit again —- nope but You should try once

Patara offered incredible service with a smile. The servers were very wholesome and made you feel wanted. But by far and away the thing that blew me away the most was the taste of the food. Everything was perfectly balanced which was very impressive given how much flavour was packed into each bite. My only criticism was that I had the calamari to start and the squid was very slightly overcooked giving it a slight chew, however I had the whole seabass as a main and it was cooked to perfection with the taste if the sauce/topping outdoing any other Thai place I've been. My partner had the red duck curry which was also exceptional. It was food that I wanted to keep eating over and over and in a place that made me feel comfortable. With a three day whirlwind trip to London where we experienced the best attractions London has to offer, I never expected a last minute food booking to be one of the highlights, but Patara was and I'd be honoured to go back again.

The service was fine but on my point of view should improve a little bit, but I can understand after long day of work waiters can be tired and we booked on the last time slot. The starter plate was good but the fish cake it tasted little bit weird and bland. The mains were fine but not amazing. Could be improved. The sticky mango rice, for me should have little bit more of coconut milk because it felt dry, but the mango was really good. We were drinking cocktails but forgot about the names but one was like a passion fruit martini but made with rum. Was good And then the thai Long Island.

Thai food doesn't get better than this. The restaurant is vegetarian friendly and the service, ambiance is good. I went on a weekday for lunch and it was easy to get a table at the restaurant. One complaint I have about the food is, the vegetables were not boiled well in the curry. It had that crunch left in it, that raw taste and I did not like it. Everything else was just perfect.
