Passage To India in North Tyneside

This take away has always been my favourite, not had one for a while so decided to treat myself, what's happened ! Half the food on the menu has changed or missing, took me awhile to find what I get. I always get just sauce as I don't really enjoy the massive lumps of chicken in a dish, so decided to order the basic massala sauce, just something small, but they no longer do just the sauce, so ordered chicken and decided to just fish it out there was hardly any chicken in it to fish out, yes I don't eat it but that's not the point, now it was not horrible but was not what I normally get, and I have never known this dish be hot ! It suppose to be mild, the chips I ordered I have to say where rotten, spicy didn't taste spicy I've no idea what spicy was used but it was not spicy found it hard to stomach and the nan bread was so tuff I couldn't chew it, very disappointed, won't be ordering from here again, waste of money, food went in the bin, as couldn't eat it. Back to the drawing board to find another place.

Food is spot on. Wont be going anywhere else!

Always ordered from here, tried tonight since new ownership and ordered spicy mosalla sauce what Ive always got, it wasn’t the same which I didn’t expect it to be but they said would try make it which I appreciated, came very dark in colour and tasted more like tomato sauce and rang explained etc, he offered me to try another, I wasn’t being rude I just tried to explain it is more the pink/ red sauce that I wanted, daughter said in back “she won’t even like that either” couldn’t of faulted the man who was serving but the full family surrounding the reception and making snide remarks is not what I appreciate. Wont be going back!

I never write reviews but that was so good I had to jump on to say they nailed it. Ordered a chicken chat pizza and it was so tasty, fresh and the portion size was spot on. Will defo be coming back.

Really disappointed with this place now! I used to leave huge tips for the chef for how good the food was. No deliveries take ages and they keep getting the orders wrong and blame their own app for not sending chef order details through.

Came here not too long ago with couple friends and everything was amazing from start to finish and enjoyed every last bit of the meal. Defo coming again and will make sure to tell all my friends and family about this place

I recently visited Passage to India (Sunday 26th May 2024) with a friend and had a wonderful experience. The person taking our order was exceptionally friendly and took the time to suggest other menu options, considering my friend's preference for milder dishes, which was very helpful. I chose the Chicken Madras paired with garlic naan bread. The garlic naan was perfectly garlicky, and the Chicken Madras had just the right amount of heat, making for a delicious meal. The food was prepared quickly, giving us just enough time to pop around the corner to the Enigma Tap for a cheeky pint while we waited. Overall, the service was excellent, the staff were friendly, the food was tasty, and it was great value for money. I highly recommend Passage to India for anyone looking for a satisfying Indian takeaway experience.

Ordered an Indian meal on bank holiday Monday at 17.00hrs and picked it up at 17.30 as requested, the meal was waiting for me when I arrived. Really friendly staff, the meal of Chicken Balti, Vegetable Pilau, Chips, Poppadoms, and a Keema and Garlic Paratha was superb. Everything piping hot and beautifully cooked. Will definitely be ordering again next week.

We have our take away from here most weekends and have never had any complaints not expensive for the amount you get fast delivery and food is the best Indians in the north East we would not order from anywhere else

Passage to India is a takeaway. It is delicious and very prompt. Ordered 2 Sunday specials for 3 people to share. Would definitely recommend.

Absolutely amazing curry proper big bits of chicken high quality been useing them over a year now . My personal favourite is a korma it is delicious the breads are lovely and fresh too it’s just to addictive. Delivery times are fast too would definitely recommend. Also recommend the chicken pathia

We had chicken bhuna, chicken madras , vegetable pilau & some Naan…. Honestly the best takeout we’ve ever had! Could not fault it from quality to portion size, absolutely delicious! Definitely the best one we’ve had in a very long time. Highly recommend!

Was not impressed with our meal used to use this place years ago but definitely not the same .we had onion barges which where dry and chicken tikka masaler was very watery .

If you like Indian food, then you HAVE to get a takeaway from here. We have had a few in the past couple of years, this was probably the best! We don't eat loads so we ordered: 1 x Large Chicken Tikka Balti, 1 x Pilau Rice, 1 x Chips. Wifey reckoned it was the best Pilau Rice she has tasted and we both thought the Balti was amazing. We'll be back soon!!

Seen multiple good reviews on Facebook & online but very sceptical, as see many rated highly but end up disappointed. Using for the first time Saturday 10th Feb was welcomed by staff. Food chicken bhuna best tastes in years the chicken was good quality, Cooke perfect, tender , succulent. Generally dried out or tough from majority Tandori restaurants and takeaways. The bhuna sauce was to perfection. Have used all but 2 /3 Indian restaurants takeaways from Whitley Bay yo Newcastle and this by distant mile ahead above the rest. Would also add normally on weekends in my opinion takeaways chuck all the junk food in for the drunks and as a lot busier can’t cope with the demand. This clearly not the case and no shortcuts or processed food used. Can’t speak any highly, will use more often going forward. Hope the first impressions are lasting, takeaway at restaurant quality.

Our favourite Indian takeaway in the North East, not once have we had an unpleasant dining experience from here, staff are always willing to make allowances for my wife's obsessive garlic consumption, my addiction their meat samosas and the kids loving the pizzas, would highly recommend to anyone!

Ordered for the first time and overall experience was sort of neutral. Nothing out of the ordinary special. It tastes similar to other Indian takeaways. Names are a bit different but the core remains the same. Will say that I will only be returning if I am nearby and can't be bothered to go to any other place.

Foods always lush. Try the meat box. Kids love it. Apps decent. After a few orders they give a discount on your order. Good.

We had a lovely takeaway on Sunday, this is our usual restaurant and it is always consistently good! The app makes it very use to order for delivery from the huge menu choice, with a loyalty discount too. I would highly recommend the prawn dansak

I wouldn't recommend a pizza. It took eating 5 slices before there was some meat. When calling to query this I was met with pure rudeness. His response was "well I don't know what you want me to do, if I send another pizza then it will be exactly the same" - try stop being tight and send a pizza with meat on rather than just sauce. He then hung up. Nice way to get repeat custom 👌

Im sorry to do this but we have been using for a while and standards have dropped. Food ordered tonight wasnt very good. Very watery one main meal and much smaller portions all round inc chicken and starters etc. Please get better as we are used to better quality or wr will find elsewhere .... So sad ?????

I am serious. Not just the best Indian [in fact Bangladeshi] take away in the area but, in my opinion, the best take-away of any sort.The food is fantastic, portions huge and cost very reasonaole. My personal favourite is Chicken Tikka Anarkali - a great combination of chicken, chick peas and spices. Couple this with a portion of Keema Pilau and some Tarka Daal and it actually does two full meals

If you like authentic Indian food order from this place. I usually order the chicken chat starter, chicken madras with a mushroom pilau and a pehwari naan bread! The chicken tikka cheesy chips are a game changer! Great family great food!

Last few times I ordered onion bhaji and they where very hard and over cooked. Main meal was ok but not hot. I ordered through just eat on Saturday 18th Sep.

Fabulous food and delivery service, the East Bengal lamb tikka with special mix pilau was gorgeous. Huge chunks of lamb with cheeky chilli's hidden throughout. Highly recommended.

We ordered Prawn on Puri but we did not get the Puri. We should of rang them but by the time we got to our place of work it was too late as we were in a different area.

It's chicken Tikka Masala..and it tasted nothing like it should... Chicken in chilli sauce that's what it was.

Don't recommend, chicken was chewy burnt around the edges, overall taste of meal was disappointing couldn't finish it. Staff were friendly though

Not the best unfortunately. No mint sauce with onion bhajis, nan bread not cooked properly & had never seen inside of a tandoor, curry average, rice was soggy & old. Sorry but just not good quality for price.

Food used to be amazing ..ordered from my friends house 2nite nearly £40 ..mixed kebab starters and salad with mint sauce and garlic chips lovely..garlic nan extra garlic tasted like it was sprinkled with a jar of roasted garlic yuck ..extra garlic main curry sauce was tastless with no garlic and a stale taste.. Chicken Vindaloo no heat and very little flavour and that old stale spice taste the rest went in the bin..we ordered a b4 xmas it was lush..looks like leaving it for another few months b4 we try again..very disappointed

Onion Bhajis OK but not much taste, main meal looked nice but very bland not much taste at all. Dissapointed as used to be a nice Indians. Will be looking elswhere in future.

Worst Indian takeaway I've ever had. Tasteless food with lack of seasoning and any Indian taste. Onion bhaji tasteless.Chicken tikka masala with no kick and really sweet!Lamb tikka korma where the lamb was as hard as a board.Real shame as we read great reviews... Waste of almost 30pounds down the drain.

Possibly the worst curry I've ever had. Lamb Madrasi just a blended watery sauce with lumps of lamb. Not sure why it has, 5* rating it was horrendous. I'll stick to the Jeera in future

This place is the best in the north east for food and service, if you are planning on having a chilled night in I would look no further than to order from Javid and his team!
