We booked a special birthday party for our son Steven, whom has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Steven had pneumonia in April 2013 and we are lucky he is with us today. Steven wanted a themed birthday party (Lord of the rings) which we arranged for 14th July 2013. The morning arrived and me and my husband went to set up and decorate the venue with props ect. We went in the room and noticed the table cloths had not been ironed, i spoke with the receptionist who passed me an iron and said do it yourself! Anyway we set up by ourselves and it looked fabulous. I struggled to fan out the serviettes, and asked the receptionist if someone could help me ,she said no that is my problem. They would not help me at all. My son wanted to bring lights and laptop to DJ and was told it must be PAT tested, fair enough we paid to have everything tested, then noticed all the hotels equipment hasnt been PAT tested for 2 years! Guests starting turning up late afternoon as planned, We we were a little late as my son has lots of equipment to bring, ventilator, cough assist machines. My guests said the staff were abrupt and at first wouldnt serve them drinks, because i had not paid for extra bar staff! ABSOLUTE RUBBISH it is all in my itinery, start and finish times. I asked where my sons birthday cake was, and was told if you want it you will have to pay £18 for the extra bar staff or you will not get the cake!!! The cake is paid for and brought it by a professional company. The hotel had no rights to withhold it from us! My family made Stevens Birthday really special, but i will never go to the guide post hotel again.
