I live 5 minutes away from Finnegans, and when I arrived home, I was sorely disappointed. The chips were barely warm, almost cold, which made the texture of the chips firm, dry and chewy. The separate container of Irish curry sauce was also disappointing because it too was barely warm. I can’t help but wonder how long the chips had been sitting there. Surely, there must be a time limit on how long food can be left out before it starts to deteriorate in quality. This lack of attention and care for the food being served by the staff is completely unacceptable. As a result of this disappointing experience, I will not be return to Finnegans. Instead, I will be looking for another local chip shop that serves fresh, hot food to its customers.

Just had chips they were dry and overcooked disgusting and inedible wasted the whole lot

Second visit in about two months First visit chips were absolutely delicious, thought we had found our delicious chippy, value wise ok'ish. Second visit today, chips not so delicious and lot of scrag ends, thinking that they had been sat for quite awhile. Not happy. Service on both days was good, young girls were pleasant

Read mixed reviews but our experience was the food was pretty good. Sausages were good, and chips were decent. Service was quick and didn't have to wait too long (only had sausages and chips though).

Good food at a good price. They run a deal Monday to Friday for a chips, fish cake and drink for a fiver which is great value, especially considering how much most places have been raising their prices! Have to say that the extra for a cheesy chips is a wee bit steep though, but that’s not enough to knock a star off!

Awesome chippy, good portions with fair prices. The staff were amazing. Nice to see service with a smile and have them actually mean it.

Went to Llansamlet yestenday we were there before the shop opened, a lady and a gentleman served before us, we had to wait 25 mins for new chips !! They were definitely the worst chips I've ever tasted ! They tasted like they had been re heated ! Chewy, no favour, I had extra vinger and that still didn't help, I didn't even open one bag of chips, me and my children couldn't eat them. Extremely disappointed!!

No vegan pies or vegan fish-alternative proteins... Simply not acceptable. Let's see some changes. Even minimum effort would be better than no effort. Edit: there is no excuse for animal abuse - it is better that businesses don't exist than existing through unethical means.

Good food and service. Different deals on offer on weekdays and a stones throw from the nearby Premer Inn, so useful if you are stopping over.

everything is over priced compared to other chipshops around it. The cheese has a plastic consistency, not cheddar at all. 5 pound for a chip butty..... chips were over cooked like they had been sitting in the fryer for days.

Absolute shambles. Paid nearly 9quid for the privilege of having sausage in batter and chip butty. Chips tasted like they were cooked before Christmas, yet still somehow managed to be greasy. If there had been some moisture left in them it maybe something, instead it was like chewing chalk. The sausage in batter was not much better, with it bizarrely jammed in the "CHIP BUTTY"!!! Least the bread seemed fresh.

Excellent chips but pricey fish, so I had the battered sausage. But all was good. Friendly staff, and pleasant too. Nice people.

Couldn't try the food to form an opinion as for some reason they didn't want to serve me. After waiting for the two lads to finish serving a couple in front of me they ignored the fact I was waiting there and started serving some tattooed guy that came in after me then both f'ed off out back. Jokes on them as they saved me paying 4 quid (yes 4 quid) for a pie anyway.

Good food. We enjoy Finnegans fish. Big portions and fast service. Finnegans is a 5 star chippy.

My update went here because I couldn't park anywhere in morriston just had 2x steak and kidney pie and chips with 2x cartons of gravy...really hungry...the gravy I must say was good, chips ok..pie looked if it had died and was excavated warmed up and reserved ..honestly dark pastry, the steak and kidney was all dried up this must have been in the warmer for longer than the legal amount of time...all I can say is Finnegans UP YOUR GAME !!!!!!! This place is such a rip off!!!!. Had fish and chips for Sunday lunch , chips stone cold , fish like jelly in the middle and to top it off I payed around £10 for the privilege.. ive taken 2pics before and after ... the after pic is just before it went into the bin...looks like kids running the place with no supervision ...worst food ive had in a long time, won't be going back here for a long time... would have been better off with a roll from greggs !!!!!!!

Went in service was straight away no waiting food was Quality and delicious the atmosphere was a vibe and enjoyed talking to the staff really recommend this place and I’ve been to a lot of chip shops but this is probably the best I’ve been too highly recommend you visit this place best chips in Swansea!

Good food, I came to finnegans with somewhat low expectations since ive went to other buisnesses around that area and i was not impressed in the food; but this take away place is completely different the staff where interacting with the customers and were extremely helpful i ordered a jumbo battered sausage with chips (salt and vinegar obviously) and the batter was amazing it was light and crunchy and wrapped around perfectly leaving a nice texture experience the chips were also incredibly done. There are only a few things i have a slight problem with in finnegans though one of them being that it took a while to cook the food,it is a more than average wait time so if you’re in a rush dont order at that moment maybe come back later, i also ordered a large chips since i was sharing with someone else and i would say the size they gave us was medium far from a large unlike some other places where they give you plenty of more chips with the same quality in taste for the same price, another thing is that theres not enough adequate seating theres two chairs and a side that has little nubs sticking out of it which could be unfortunate if someone sat on it without knowing, but apart from that i would recommend this place.

Not nearly what the shop in Porthcawl is, the tartar sauce is not made there its heinz , fish is dry, limited menu.

Beautiful food. Always fresh, Great service. Place is super clean. I drive from FForestfach to the chippy because its my favourite and for what it has to offer on the menu. Its stunning. 3 years on from posting this review I have still been driving from Fforestfach to this place when wanting a Chippy! It’s quite simply the best. Went tonight ( 16/03/23) to pick up my order & the staff are kind & friendly as always & the food is stunning every time. Thank you x

Had a take out last Friday. What we had wasn't fit for human consumption. They even charged £1.99 for a drizzle of gravy

Went to the Swansea shop today ordered rissole and chips also large sausage and chips, what a difference from when I last went to this shop. Rissoles tiny and no taste and my dog wouldn’t even eat the cheap tasting sausage. What happening here ? We pay good money as the place isn’t cheap and received cheap rubbish products.

Very rude and disrespectful staff. When I walked in I was the only person in the chip shop. Employee knew I was there and stood with back facing me for many minutes. Twice this has happened. I'm unlikely to go back.

Absolutely shocking £7.25 for a piece of fish that is tiny and this was the large, my mate bought a small fish and chips and looks like a cod bite for £8.25. never again

Went to Finnegans for the first time today and ordered a cod and paid £7.75, got home and opened the box and could not believe how small it was and it was the tail end, get double the size for £5 from local Fish and Chip shop, extortionate price! first and last time I go there !!!

Went in for a bag of chips and they only do small or regular, went for regular at £3 and what a Rip Off!! Hardly any weight to the bag and I could get my fingers around it, I asked if this was correct and the boy said Yes! Disgraceful. I wish I could give 0 or - stars!!

Good value traditional fish and chips. Cooking of menu is top class, nice specials and great, efficient service. Would happily recommend for a fish supper 👍

Wonderful place catered for my celiac family with gluten free chips. Taste was great, very filling! Polite and friendly, professional staff. Will definitely come here again 😊

Food is great and we usually enjoy but this week 2 sausage specials and a beans cheese and chips was about 1 normal portion of chips. We were there about half an hour before closing so we assume they just divided what was left between us to save putting more chips on. It's usually great but was disappointed this visit.

Massively overpriced, charges made were not the ones shown on the pdf menu. Wholly unsatisfactory trading practice, cold chips greasy and slimy fish. Queried price at counter and told they only do one size fish ! and only worked from their blue menu which is not the one show on web site or infact the main menu behind the counter. Advert on door "Fish fryer vacancy" says it all, a visit from Trading standards is long overdue here.

Fabulous food all cooked to order

Over priced very small portions £11 for a childs fish and chips that was ment to be an adult meal staff didn't care and looked very depressed when complaining they refused to sort it what a rip off one small scoop of chips and a very small peace of wet greasey dripping fish that didnt even fill the box afuwl service need to improve on there quantity over profit wont be going back soggy chips with a layer of runny grease at the bottom worst chips and fish in seansea for the price better to got to rossies or vicarage road fish bar half the price for twice as much Customer service is very bad and unenthusiastic staff.

Don't bother going here. Ordered regular chips and it might as well have been a small. The chips that were there were mostly black and tasteless. The fish was okay but again paid for a regular and might as well have been a small.

Superb piece of cod, not the largest but fried to perfection. Nice flaky flesh with a crispy batter that still retained some of that delicious oily moisture. Perhaps the chips were a little underdone for my taste, but they were still perfectly edible. Highly recommend!

How is this shop award winning! Got to be the worst chips I have ever tasted. Brown, shrivelled, some hard, some soft not a crispy coat in sight and to top it all off! Cold!!!!! How people pay these prices they must be mugs! If I could have given 0 stars I would. Never again.

Called in and ordered a small chips and cod. The cod was over £6.00 alone. The fish was cooked fresh and after 5 minutes it was ready. When I arrived back at my hotel I was disappointed with my nearly £9 purchase. Chips were soft and the hard ones were hard as nails. The cod was completely tasteless. Totally disappointed with the lack of value for money, or quality.

Chips were a cold and were not fresh Microwaved left overs.Ist bad experience here..

Big shout out to Finnegans my children love the food there . Always fresh . Last time we went they got the order wrong. I didn't realise until we got home. I rang them . Not only did they admit immediately it was wrong and their fault. ( which I really appreciated) . They Replaced the entire meal for free next time we went plus added an extra meal . Plus we kept the food that we were given The 5 stars are hugely deserved, it takes a strong person/ company to admit fault and the way the manager dealt with this was exceptional. Thank you 😊

Very poor service I had to go back to pick up chips that was not put with my order last week I was given jumbo sausage when I ordered jumbo sausage and batter there has been other times as well just put it down to the amount of orders I don't want extra chips or a can of pop as a apology I just wanted my order right not much to ask for .

DISAPPOINTED.... I bought a portion of regular chips at around 2pm Saturday 19th December. I was told by the counter that it would be 2 min for chips as they were in fryer. I was handed a bag within 20 seconds of that comment. I didn’t think of it much but when I got out of the car park, got in the car and opened the bag, The chips were not fresh and for £2.80 there were more of bits of left over chips more than normal chip.. I was very disappointed as I was told one thing and was waiting for fresh chips and was given old chips. Will not visit this place purely because customer service was bad and was given left over.

Currently my go to chippy in Swansea. Staff are absolutely wonderful, food is always lovely. Nice treat for us every so often!

Finnegan's is a fantastic fish and chip shop. If you phone ahead you'll always find the staff who answer are happy to answer any questions. You can also order ahead online and this allows you to add any special requests with your food. I was ordering some gluten free food. They can do this for the children's menu too. When we arrived to collect the gluten free cod coujons had just been cooked. The batter was perfect and the food tasted lovely. Impossible to leave any behind. If you or any family are looking for delicious gluten free fish and chips you can't go far wrong. The staff are knowledgeable and this is very reassuring. We have visited twice this n the past few months and the quality has always been high.

Love the fish and chips from Llansamlet shop but over the past 4 5 weeks I’ve been in a few time and wanted small fish and every time no matter what time they always say only Regular or large 🤷‍♀️ Is that for people to upsize I wonder 🤔🤔 I won’t buy it as I’m not gona waste good money on something I’m not gona eat .. shame I’ve had to go elsewhere every time.

I thought it was expensive for what I had one gravy chips peas and a sausage two drinks and it came to ten pound something very surprised to say the least but there you go lesson learnt.

Only have Fish and Chips as a treat every so often so the restaurant we use has to be the right choice. Food menu is traditional and quality is ok. It was a bit greasy for my liking and the fish was a little soft which indicates over cooking. It's also a bit expensive. However I will go back...

Food was fine but the girl working there was blunt and rude. Also the offer for a certain food on a specific day needs to be written and explained better. So on a Thursday you get "chips and a side". You would expect this to be any side off the board of "sides" e.g. Cheese, mushy peas etc. But it is just a sauce. The girl was blunt and not helpful when explaining this so I won't be returning.

A little pricey but still my favourite chippy. Quality

Great food and well managed during Covid lockdown. Felt quite safe with online ordering and safe collection with food ready at agreed time.
