Panas Gurkha Restaurant in Lewisham

Good location for a night out, and well presented food. Tables by the front door are given a chilly cold blast of air every time the door is opened, sit further back if you go in the winter. Their website menu is very old, do not look at the menu online as being completely accurate, and prices are higher than shown online. The online table reservation booking service works well. Smallest Momo portion ever, 4 pieces, below average value for money for a Nepalese restaurant, and added service charge raises the price. However higher standards in general compared to our last visit to a Nepalese restaurant. Pretty good, wouldn't rush back all things considered, but not bad, 4/5. Worth checking out as a takeaway service, just get an up to date menu. Looking at the website, there appears to be an app for takeaways on Play Store called Panas Gurkha...

Terrible experience. Never again! I ordered a Lamb Rogan Josh with no coriander after a waiter's suggestion. The waiter have assured me multiple times that the sauce wouldn't have had coriander. After sending the order to the kitchen the waiter got back to me asking whether I was allergic or intolerant. Since I mentioned that I was not allergic to coriander, she had the greatest idea of givening the chef the green light for him to serve me the dish with coriander in the sauce. No need to explain how this has ruined my appetite. After informing the older waiter about what happened with one of our main dishes, he showed absolutely no customers service manners and has not offered any discount on the bill. I have not asked for discount myself, but apologising (instead of acting vague) and offering a discount on the bill should have been the most reasonable thing to do considering that they have ruined my meal. This shows how much they care about customers. Never again!!!

Food was really delicious, but I ordered the Jogi Tarkari which is described as vegan - but it had paneer in it. I don't mind as I'm not vegan, but something to consider. otherwise food was hot and fresh and delivery was on time.

2.5hr delivery time both times we’ve ordered from here. Do not order delivery from them. I don’t know why they even offer it as a service, I don’t know any other restaurant as incompetent as Panas at delivering food to customers. Don’t order delivery. 2.5hrs is ridiculous.

Went for a chilled dinner with friends, and we had the most amazing time! The food was delicious and the staff was very helpful. The atmosphere was also great 5 out of 5! I’ll be definitely going back, we need more local restaurants like that! You are the best!

Exceptional - best Indian restaurant I've eaten in to date (apart from Dishoom). Smack bang in the middle of lovely Blackheath village. Food was outstanding, service was great and local to me! It's now my go-to... What a blinder. My friend liked it VERY much. Oh, and the homemade chutney's - next level!

There are no good Indian restaurants in SE1 so when in Blackheath my wife and I got a take out from Panas for the first time. Quality of meat is excellent, none of that horrible pre cooked chicken that tastes funny and rubbery. This was fantastic, great use of spices, huge portions and price was very reasonable £45 for two and that included two mains, two sides and naan breads! There was no way we were eating all in one sitting, it’ll last us another meal easily! They also gave us some amazing complimentary stuff too!!! Really could not ask for more.. I was blown away by food and service. We will ONLY eat there for Indian take out. They have the secret formula.

One of the the most flavoursome and delicious meals I have had in some time. Do not overlook the pickles and poppadoms, they are fantastic! Beautiful food, great atmosphere, outstanding service!

What a delightful find! Delicious food and fantastic service, cannot fault any of it. We came away knowing that this was the best Nepali food we've ever eaten. Highly recommend the Ginger Scallops starter, simply divine! Also had was the Mum's Chicken Curry, which was perfect in every way, a right blend of spices and that slight touch of heat that you want from a curry.

Y no me decepcionó ni un poco... fantástico servicio al cliente y aún más fantástica fue la comida. Los sabores en todos nuestros pedidos fueron excelentes 👌🏾. La comida también sabía fresca, ya que se cocinaba por encargo. Ni una sola queja. Tal vez pueda haber algo de música de fondo suave para mejorar el ambiente y la experiencia gastronómica, pero aparte de eso, no hay quejas en absoluto. . recomiendo encarecidamente 👌🏾 😉. También necesitan actualizar la lista de menús en su sitio web, ya que fue un poco engañoso.

Late afternoon, pretty empty but the food was really really good. A definite cut above any other south Asian restaurant in the area - chilli momos were deeply flavoursome and the veg curry and chicken tikka masala were excellent, highly recommended.

At Panas we had the best dinner in recent times. Really excellent food and top courtesy! We really had a great time and left very satisfied. Excellent value for money!

We visited the Panas Gurkha twice during our three-day stay in London. The menu varies between Nepalese and Indian dishes and specialities. The food was very delicious, the service was impeccable from the moment we walked in and the atmosphere was lovely, too - perfect for a relaxing evening out. I can only highly recommend this place to anyone in Blackheath or beyond. Looking forward to the next visit!

The food was outstanding and the customer service was impeccable. All servers were extremely polite and helpful.

The Jhane Ko Masu was incredibly salty. Almost a different dish to when Panas was on Lee High Rd. Everything else was great.

This is a great little Nepalese restaurant in the heart of Blackheath. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout. The food was all very well presented and nice and hot. In addition to our ordered starter we were given another, complimentary, starter. The main courses we chose consisted of various curries and were all full of flavour and the meat was very tender. The drinks were also reasonably priced. Overall we had a very pleasant evening and would recommend a visit.

A nice refined Indo-Nepalese inspired restaurant. Prices and portions are good. Staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, served and are very attentive. Will go back when in the area for a warm, filling experience.

Fue el viernes por la noche y la comida era increíble y muy bien presentado. Sin embargo queríamos el postre pero nos dijeron que no que es solo los fines de semana, ¿cómo se suponía que sabíamos esto? También la máquina de café 'estaba rota'. También ten en cuenta que hay un letrero en las mesas que dice que tienes 1 hr 30 para desalojar la mesa. Una pena, la falta de postre nos dejó sintiéndonos planos al final de una comida por lo demás fabulosa.

Panas is a hidden gem in Blackheath. The food is really tasty and the service is truly exceptional. I went for my birthday and they surprised me with the complimentary dessert. Special shout out to Manoj and Bhavana for their service. We ordered momo, tandoori prawn, garlic naan, dal makhni And mum's chicken curry. Every item was finger licking good.

Great food and excellent service. We did not know Nepalese food and the waitress was very kind explaining and advising us on the different dishes. The place is very nice and impeccably clean. One hundred percent recommended.

Came here on saturday for a pre comedy show meal, despite living in Blackheath for my whole life I have never eaten here before - and that is such a regret I didn't come sooner. The quality of the food cannot be understated, the lamb rogan I had was delightfully fragrant, the flavours were extremely fresh and the heat was very complimentary, an enjoyable level of spice that was balanced very well with the other components of the dish. The tarka daal was creamy, slightly sweet and with delicate flavours. Their mango lassi was lovely and thick, not overly sweet and tasted very fresh. Our poppadoms came with home made chutneys - the mango was an absolute winner, full of fresh mango, tangy and sweet, one of the best chutneys I've had. Service was exemplary, staff are very attentive and we had some lovely small conversations with staff during our meal. Prices are very competitive and affordable versus the high quality of the food served. I will definitely be coming back, thank you very much!

We had a lovely meal at Panas. The food is delicious and the staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Whilst there is no children's menu, the staff made sure my five year old was happy and well-provided for.

I was passing by the village and decided to eat in here, It didn’t disappoint! Calm environment for a sunday, good price overall for all wines and for the gourmet curries, great night in here.

Busy Saturday night but good food

Food - taste was average. Portion sizes were small. Only 4 momos given in a portion for £7.5. Hair found in one of the mains. Service - booked table for 6 people. It doesn't mention that a booking is for only 90mins. We were trying to enjoy our meal but were continously being asked to rush as they have another booking. Eyes on how quickly we were eating ruined our experience. Plates of food were just left on the table and tables are not big enough to accommodate plates of food for 6 people and drinks. Atmosphere- very tight and crowded. We paid £160 altogether and in all honesty it wasn't worth it. Would strongly recommend dining elsewhere. We won't be back.

We went yesterday with my cousins and kids. I booked the table for 6 pm, food was ok for the service was very disappointing. While we were eating our dinner one of the staff member told us to eat quickly because they have another booking. My two years old son was still eating and my main hasn’t even arrived at the point. I don’t think I will be ever going back to the restaurant because how they treated us. And about the portion size starter was very small for the price. Overall its the service have let them down.

What a disappointment! I've booked a table for 4 at 7:30pm (confirmed via email) and when we arrived at 7:28 our table has been given to other people ( I guess walk ins) who was basically waiting for their mains! Restaurant was full so no other option! They've offered to basically rush another table! So unprofessional! What's the point of booking if they can't respect it! We really wanted to try this place but after tonight we won't and definitely won't recommend it to anyone! Very disappointing experience and poor management!

Absolutely amazing food. Everything was so tasty. Some dishes never tried before like the beans with coconut side dish and beetroot raita. Will definitely come again. Service was also exceptional.

Awful experience and do not recommend this place. The food was presented nicely and had a moderately average taste to it, but there was no wow factor to it as reviews indicated. The service really needs to be improved upon with one female waitress harassing my friend and I to finish our food quickly as we had to leave by 20.00pm. Table was booked from 18.30 to 20.00 and from 19.30 we were reminded at least 3 times to hurry up. At 19.42; the waitress came and reminded us again and said the next booking are waiting and I told her we had just under 20 minutes to finish and would be out by 20.00pm. I asked for the bill after feeling very harassed and she had the audacity to not only charge for the service, but open the door to let us out, whilst smirking. I guess some awards can be bought, when you put cash under the table!

Our booking was for 6pm was the booking, due to being with small kids some were late. I reached there exactly at 6pm and my sister with her kids at 6:20pm. Since 6:15, even though i told them because of kids and traffic they will be a bit late, the lady in the restaurant curtly asked how far are they cuz they have a booking at 7pm. Any restaurant will give a buffer of 15 mins after the booking to reach, as you all know. AND even on a weekend busiest of the restaurants put in their booking page if they have a time limit, usually its 1 hour 30mins to eat. After 40mins of sitting the lady came to us and said in nepali “please eat faster cuz they want to give the table to the next customer”. AFTER 40mins!!! We got annoyed as we were just eating and the kids were eating, it is not our fault if they cannot manage their booking well. I remember it was 7.07pm then. Also our chicken dish had a hair and when my sister showed it to them they said its impossible that kind of hair is none of theirs, what kind of an answer is that? They got us the new dish and while putting the new plate down the waiter mentioned again oh by the way that was not hair. We are paying customers and frankly speaking no matter how good the food is, nobody will go back again when the service is so bad and rude. The owner or someone kept walking up and down watching our plates to check if we finished eating. Literally we were there for an hour and 20. They did not even offer the dessert menu as they wanted to rush. Worst service i have ever encountered!!! Cherry on top of the cake, after all this was, the lady met us at the door, apologised for rushing us and the best bit was when she said they have to do so cuz they will lose money like they did tonight as they couldn't seat another group. When you cant host your customers, people should stick to take aways.

One of the best restaurant in Blackheath. Bhawana was the best Waitress . What a busy Saturday night at Panas and we had to wait to get our table but it was worth waiting in cold weather outside. Best of the Best Indian food we have eaten for long time.

We have eaten here a couple of times, and on each occasion the food has been incredibly delicious, but made even better by the wonderful service and friendly staff. Would highly recommend!

The food is great but if ordering delivery don't expect it to arrive on the time agreed. Despite preordering directly from the restaurant and allowing over 2 hours to get this delivered it didn't arrive on time. Nearly an hour late without any contact from the restaurant and a bewildered delivery chap who didn't know what time was promised. So collect or eat in but avoid the delivery service.

The food was flavorful but the portion size is really bad. We paid 17 quid for a mix platter was not even worth it, it was few piece chicken, 1 prawn, and the tiniest lamb chop a size of my thumb. The owner keeps on coming to your table which is quite annoying.

Amazing food, great atmosphere and really good service! The tandoori king prawn is absolutely fabulous whilst our kids really liked the coconut rice.

Incredible food. We had the jhimbi chicken, beetroot raita, and brinjal side with a chicken momo starter. Texture perfect, Seasoning perfect. Spice level comfortable and warm.

Great restaurant - just tried it for the first time after rave reviews and it lived up to it. All the family loved it and we were well hosted and, most importantly, food was delicious.

Well,I really don’t know what all the great reviews are all about because me and wife went here and it was not good at all,the Bombay aloo ( potatoes) where baby potatoes and no flavour and hard! The curry was not good and we was both on the toilet for two days!!!! We travel around for good Indian restaurants on the reviews mainly or word of mouth but we will NOT returning. The owner is a nice man by the way that’s as good as it gets I am afraid 😟 5/10 rating

Had take away multiple times since the Covid. This was the first time dine in and really loved it, not only well presented but tastes amazing! Definitely recommend!! Didn’t see prawns jalfrezi on the menu anymore!!

We shared our second meal here tonight sometimes you find first time great and second time not so! But when it’s good it’s good and we will be back. We live local so it is not too hard. Truly fantastic great food, service and lovely helpful staff. So get out and enjoy.

It was lit tbf I was pleasantly surpised and it was spicy blew my tongue in to some sort of dr who episode where the tardis gets really close to the sun
