Good Malaysian food here, restaurant is nice and location is easy to find (Paddington Station area). My daughter's favourite restaurant when she was in London for a few months - the free wifi is a bonus for those who need it.

I went to Pak Awie a couple of times as I am proud of my Malaysian heritage and wanted to introduce friends to Malaysian food. The food was good, not astounding but what ticked me off was each time I went, the owner greeted and shook everyone's hands but mine. I don't know if this is because I am a Chinese, or a woman, or both but the discrimination was embarrassing and off putting. There are other Malaysian restaurants which as good and provide better service.

We went to Pak Awie for dinner as it was quite well rated here, being a malaysian I was keen to see how authentic the food was.We ordered nasi lemak which was really good -the sambal was very well-balanced. Also we had nasi goreng kampung which was nice. The squid panggang unfortunately came in large slabs and was overcooked and tasteless. They served pretty good air bandung as well. All in all pretty good for the main dishes. Would be happy to come back again!

Place was packed, but Pak Awie and family made it clear that customers are first priority by making sure orders are placed and food arriving on time. Pak Awie himself would always make his rounds and acknowledge every one as "Yes boss!", "No worries Boss!" and commonly like "Ok boss!". His witty character and recommendation for dishes are very humble, and we would definitely come back. Please try the Ayam Lemak Chilli Api!5 mins walk from Paddington Underground Station.

Been to many restaurants with the word Malaysian on the Menu. but all too often they fail to deliver on the taste and dishes on offer.Having travelled in Malaysia extensively, this restaurant superseded all my expectations, offering a great selection of the classics, and delivering with the authentic rich flavours , you come to love from this very special country.I had the wonderful Kangkung belacan; crisp, spiced water spinach amidst a backdrop of savoury shrimp past and chilli, udang assam petai; sweet , sour , tamarind prawns laced with the savoury petai bean. Nasi goreng kampung and Nasi lemak, both were rich and flavoursome cooked with the love of only someone who has lived and breathed Malaysian cuisine all their life .Service was fantastic, with the warm hearted Pak Awie and his wife onsite making you feel as though you are part of the family.Great food, Great Service, Fantastic cuisine, could not ask for more.

Beautiful interior and cutlery. You may have lunch special choosing 3 from 10 pre-prepared dishes or set menu. The ala-carte menu is excellent for dinner, you have to order their "rendang", best in London. Dont forget the "satay" too. Just imaging you are eating in a Malay village where time is not important (service is slow). You may bring your own alcoholic drinks if you fancy a glass with your meal.

Visited during the month of Ramadan for the buffet starting at 9pm. The cost of the buffet was £20, which is ok, except that the buffet lasted only 1hr and much of the food was finished within 45mins. The food was not replenished and the waitress did not even allow a change of plate when it was filled with bones and shells, and insisted that we used the dirty plates. Food quality was average but poor value for money. Service attitude was also poor.

This restaurant produces authentic Malaysian food at a fair price. Service was a bit slow but I think this is due to the food being prepared properly. The sharing starter is good though next time I will have a portion of soft shell crab to myself! The beef rendang was as I remember it in Malaysia and the chicken curry have lovely delicate flavours. It is alcohol free and we did not think to ask if we could bring booze in. there are many fresh juices and an interesting jelly drink. The decor is interesting and the loos are clean with a shower hose. There is a blast of cold air whenever the door is opened so ask to be at far from the door. It is near enough Paddington station but just off the main roads, therefor quieter. There are a few parking meters just outside . There were about 10 other diners there on the Sunday early evening we were there - we were the only non Asians which to me is alway a good sign.http://www.pakawie.co.uk

My wife and I unusually were both in town on business and decided to eat close to Paddington unfortunately at 5.30 when the brilliant Satay house was closed so we thought we would try here.Perhaps 5.30 is not the best time to eat here, but service was lack luster and the food quite simply terrible we had the mixed starter which looked like and tasted like the left overs from lunch just reheated. The mains were not much better, overall try some of the Lebanese restaurants wish we had. At least they did not charge the ubiquitous 12.5% service charge. Left very disappointed as the menu looked really good.

About a week ago, we were having our first gathering to meet members of FB Group. There were about 30 of us plus children. It took an average 2 hours for our food to arrive on the table. I only ordered Mee Goreng and my hubby ordered Kway Teow Goreng. It took half an hour to have our teh tarik - just lukewarm teh tarik! It should have been hot. May be the staff have forgotten us! However, the ambience was good, but we would come back if they improve the service and the quality of food. For the staff, please smile, it cost nothing but returning customers.

The food at Pak Awie were pretty good and authentic when we were both there last weekend. However, it took us about half an hour to get our drinks and then another half an hour for food. So all in all, it was a two hour business easily... we went to the counter to pay for our bill as we were waiting for around 5-10 mins at our table then thought... we might as well pay for it at the counter so it will not be another 30 mins affair... You really got to be patient for your food but the waiter was pretty friendly and relaxed... so before you go, have something to eat and patience is what you need at this place. The female toilet was a bit dirty but the general condition of the place is really nice.

Nice ambience, modern and neutral decor, nice songket print framed pictures on the walls, bespoke crockery and reasonable prices makes this a great and authentic Malaysian restaurant. Dishes ordered were satay (delicious and good starter, ketupat was hard though), sup ekor which was delicious and meaty, kari mee, nasi goreng kampung, and char kway teow. All had the thumbs up. Malaysian cuisine has gained in popularity in London overs the years. However for us Malaysians it is almost impossible to find a restaurant that cooks food like we eat back home. This very new restaurant currently only opens for dinner buffet around 8.30pm because of Ramadan fasting month and it offers amazingly delicious Malaysian food. At £15 a head it is a steal. The owner Pak Awie is the most hospitable host. Alcohol is not sold here.

As it says in the title, this is the place to bear when it comes to authentic and deliciously made bubble tea. The service is always fast and I don’t think I can emphasise just how wonderful the drinks are. You get a lot of drink for what you buy plus there is just something special about the presentation of the drink and the way it is made that stays in your mind long after you finish the bubble tea. I particularly recommend the fruit teas, with some drinks it comes with fresh fruit in the drink that you can eat after! Always refreshing and sweet
