Padrino Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria in Southend-on-Sea

I’m gonna make it simple, it has potential to be the best Italian in Southend. I have no complaints, good food, great service and fantastic atmosphere.

First time eating here, food was excellent, wild boar ravioli was full of flavour, wife had mussels which she loved. Fillet steak was cooked well and the sauce was excellent, my wife had the lamb which she said was very good but could not finish it as was to full up, I’m not a great fan of lamb but gave it ago, and really liked it. Cheese cake was a big portion and tasty, cheese and biscuits is a go to for me every time it’s on the menu and it did not disappoint, service was excellent not too slow and not too fast, we will be back

Good food, great service and pretty good value. This place is very popular especially if there is a show on at the Cliffs Pavilion and often gets packed out so booking ahead is essential.

As a rule of thumb I generally never have a great Italian meal outside of Italy, but this place surpassed my expectations with a great meal that I would recommend to any nay-sayers.

We had a nice dinner. The only thing missing is the sauce on the pizza, it was very weak.

Booked for mums 80th lunch - based on recommendation… What a fabulous restaurant! We were a mix of adults, children, veggies & fussy eaters but all agreed the food, atmosphere & service could not be faulted - Superb thank you ❤️

Most of the customers were going to the cliffs pavilion, so the staff were very aware of this, therefore very efficient.

Friendly efficient service, great food, will go again.

Authentic delicious Italian home style cooking. The staff are so welcoming. The menu is very reasonably priced for what you get. My recommendation absolutely is the T-Bone Veal. You definitely need to book ahead for the weekend But it is 100% worth it. The specials board (pictured) doesn’t really rotate but they have nailed it so no issue. There is a car park 2 mins round the corner.

We went for our dinner to Padrino before our show at the Cliff's Pavilion. The food was so good and it arrived pretty quickly! The staff was quite efficient too! Loved our meal there.

We had tickets to go see Il Divo so ate here first. The food was good and the staff friendly.

Went here for a family dinner of around 10 people, service was excellent and regularly checking in on us, food was fresh and tasty, I had a Calzone, which was a good portion size and very good.

This place is just fantastic 👍 Delicious food and always very good service by the whole team. Been there a couple of times and will return for sure whenever I am in Southend

Staff and chefs were great, even made me something slightly off menu so I could have the wild boar ravioli as a main, which was delicious. Very reasonable price as well, highly recommended.

After looking up the reviews, thought this would have been a great choice. Sadly the service was poor and practically nonexistent after we returned a dish after finding hair in the food. Such a shame as the food was nice. They replaced the meal immediately and apologised at that point, but then avoided our table for the rest of the evening, we had to asked for the bill to be acknowledged. We didn’t have starters, just mains and was wanting desserts but 1hr 45 mins in, we needed to leave and it was clear they were avoiding us. Waited ages for the bill and then hit with rudeness by being told by one of the staff “it wasn’t hair, chef is bald and must of been fluff or something” like that’s ok. Plus a backlash comment when we hadn’t said anything is nothing short of childish. It’s not cheap in there or should anyone accept hair or fluff in their meal, in the sauce! We got zero service after that despite being very reasonable about it all, just be avoided for the rest of the time is bad. Definitely don’t recommend or will be returning. Shame as we were very fair about it despite it being very off putting and had you continued a decent service instead of a backhanded comment and avoidance, it would have been a different review. At no point did we ask for a discount or anything other than the dish replaced, so shame on you. Customer service costs nothing!!

Popped in on a Saturday lunchtime. Terrific food, amazing atmosphere and perfect service. Such a great varied menu. Fantastic restaurant with great views of the estuary. Perfection.

This place was recommended by a family member and what a place. The staff were all lovely. The food is absolutely to die for. . . We went here to wrap up our visit to Southend and it completely did the job.

Called to book a table for 7 because the website clearly states you must call. No online bookings?? Really rude woman answered and said I had to call back the next day. Clearly they don't want customers! I sent an email to complain about this and didn't even get the courtesy of a response! Much better restaurants with better service elsewhere!!

Well prepared food, traditional family atmosphere, great views to the Estuary. What's not to love.

I made the mistake of going to this restaurant because it had the most stars here on Google Maps. Firstly, even though I was accompanied by an elderly lady (86) who needed to use the toilet, they approached the door exactly at 12:00. They could see us through the large windows. They didn't let us in until they asked the chef, because we didn't have a reservation. I told them we wanted a quick lunch. All the waitresses were talking to each other in a language similar to Russian. This wouldn't have been an issue if it wasn't spoken right in front of the customers when taking orders. The cutlery is placed directly on the table and, after you sit down and order, they take the extra cutlery and put it back in the box with clean cutlery. After people have sprayed them with saliva while ordering. And probably some of them even touch them with their hands. When we ordered, the waitress's attitude was one of superiority, not one of serving and at least being considerate towards the elderly person. The pizza was poor in ingredients. The ingredients were of poor quality. I had indigestion later at home. I will never go back there. It is only Italian in name. Rating 0!

Lovely restaurant best Italian meal I've had

I had the pleasure of dining at this Italian restaurant, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming atmosphere The seafood dishes were absolutely delicious ,perfectly cooked lobster pasta.The menu featured a great variety of options, ensuring there was something for every seafood lover.

Pre-concert meal. Fortunately we had booked a table as the place was full. Well set out tablewise. Very friendly and cheerful staff. Service very efficient and catered well for pre-concert crowd. Large menu and specials board makes decisions difficult! Two courses and a good bottle of wine set us up for the evening. Very well priced too! Highly recommended.

It's not cheap but excellent food.

We love this restaurant. The menu choice is amazing- it's very hard to choose between all the wonderful, authentic dishes. It can get a bit noisy and chaotic, but for me that just adds to the atmosphere.

This is our absolute favourite restaurant, the food is amazing and the staff are lovely.

Arrived about 5.15 pm after deliberation ordered about 5.35 . Ordered mussels from specials board followed by a seafood Pizza. My main gripe is firstly the meagre portion of mussels , I envisaged a lovely terrine.of steaming plump mussels, au contrere, got a dinner plate with about 15 to 20 shells of which 40% were empty. Hey ho maybe they have come out and are having a swim in the lovely sauce, but alas the blighters could not be found anywhere voiced.my dissatisfaction but had no response. When my seafood pizza arrived.....there they were sitting on top of my pizza. Service was designed to get you in and out as quick as possible no gap between starters and main course. Will not be going back .

We booked for a pre show meal. We told them at booking and on arrival at 6pm that we needed to be finished by 7pm. We had I tended to have a main and dessert however we were not served our food until 6.40 so asked for the bill then and skipped dessert. The restaurant was extremely noisy but the food when it arrived was very good. Would use again but will book at 5.30 or earlier to ensure a relaxed meal.

Wow what can I say. Had a birthday meal here and I am overwhelmed the food is smashing & the staff are next to none. They treat kids fantastic & made us feel great. Food was beautiful outstanding.

Another lovely meal at Padrino Italian Restaurant, a good place for my daughters and mother in laws birthday celebration. The food was excellent and the staff were very helpful.

Cannot fault the food, was superb, as was the vibe in the restaurant. However Ola, the waitress, had a serious attitude. Continuously made snarky remarks and comments throughout our meal, after being asked for the dessert menu, for example, she replied ‘let me do my job’, which, personally, i think is unnecessary. Made the whole experience negative. Such a shame because the food & other staff were impeccable.

Family birthday (9 adults) food was lovely tasteful and plentiful. Service was very good. Highly recommend as this was my first see visit. Starters mains and some had desserts too.

Five of us were lucky to get a table in the busy Christmas period after being let down by a restaurant nearby . Excellent meal - the asparagus starter and the saltimbocca were particularly good, and it was a pleasant surprise to find cassata on the dessert menu. Friendly, attentive service. Spacious dining area. My only gripe was that a few dishes on the specials menu had run out - only discovered this when we attempted to order them ( would rather be told this when we were being seated )

First time here - we went because we were seeing the matinee panto, so booked an early lunch. The staff were absolutely lovely and very welcoming and smiling. The waitress recommended the tomato chilli bread to start, and I have to say it's well worth it! It was so good we ordered another. We didn't find it spicy, more a lovely warm chilli taste with the tomato. Highly recommend that! We had a selection of pizzas, pasta and lasagne, and no one had a bad word. Everything arrived quick and hot, and the kids menu was great portions. Very tasty and filling, and nothing crazy priced. Everything was really good value. They also had zero alcohol beer options which is great. We'd absolutely go back again!

Very quick, good value for money, lovely food and nice staff

After a very good meal for seven of us we were dismayed by the treatment by the owner with regard to vacating our table. Both my parents are in their 80s and we were ushered to another table by the door to wait a few minutes for our taxi. This was done aggressively by her. Such a shame after a lovely evening.

Eat here with friends for catch up. Food was good for all of us (pizzas, cannelloni, and steak) . Really busy but wouldn't have known with the service we had as it was good also.

Had lovely dinner here for daughters 18th. Good choice on menus. Had set menu, really good. Service very good..restaurant busy and noisy but did quiten down. We all had a great evening.

Four of us ate at padrinos all food was fine apart from my wife who had Crab linquinie but found shell in the food , the waitress was very uncaring and when my wife said could you please tell the chef of the problem , the waitress was quite abrupt and in a raised arrogant voice said I HAVE told him. She was attractive blonde Eastern European.

Not been for some time but food was excellent as before. Crab linguini was lovely my wife had skatewing. Deserts were great.

This place is superb, must be one of the best Italian restaurants in the whole region. Have visited several times over the last few years when in the area, sometimes there are no available tables it is so popular...you definitely need to book in advance especially at weekends. It's a great location with amazing views, overlooking the sea at Westcliff. Inside it is very nice and has a traditional warm Italian feel, with plenty of space between tables. Even when full it doesn't feel too packed as it's spacious and carefully laid out. The quality of the food and presentation is tip top and there is always a list of daily specials in addition to the main menu. It caters for all tastes and diets - meats, fish, veggie or vegan, great pastas...it's an extensive menu with many options to choose from. This place is reasonably priced too - you can have a good inexpensive meal here if you stick to soft drinks and go for cheaper/fewer dishes. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and professional. Long may this place last, a real gem. Highly recommend.

Lovely restaurant, great service and really tasty food. Our party enjoyed the sirloin steak, seafood medley pasta, Carne Mista pizza and pumpkin raviolli, clean plates all round. Lovely seaview too, will definitely be revisiting!

Absolutely brilliant! Lovely staff,lovely food, outstanding service highly recommended. My 8 year old daughter was performing at Cliff's pavilion. We popped in for lunch before she was on stage. The staff make you feel really welcome and the food was outstanding. I'm definitely going back. 👍

Always get a great meal at padrino, set menu for two courses for £14.95 is great value with a good selection. Food is always hot, portion sizes great too! Excellent for kids, as the kid’s menu is £6.95 for two courses which includes a drink. Nice staff, always great with families. We will continue to go back to padrino!
