Oyster Bed in Canterbury

A very friendly and attentive service, we had the Trio of roast and it was very good quality although for £17 my friend felt it could have had one more veg type for the cost. There was a very nice family friendly atmosphere and everything was clean and well maintained. I would be very happy to use again.

Travelled here from Medway, had a table book in advanced as I was impressed with the dedicated vegan menu. Came here to find absolutely no vegan options available apart from a plant based burger. What a waste

Delicious Sunday lunch, would have liked a few more vegetables though. Service was brilliant Madison took our order & was very friendly & helpful, couldn't ask for better.

Lovely evening with nice food and great service.

We have a disabled son in a fair size wheelchair, so on arrival I explained a table for two adults with room for his chair. We were asked to follow the member of staff and she showed all the tables and that it was our choice wherever we wanted to sit! We chose but I explained it would block another table and two of its chairs, we were told it wasn’t a problem we’ll make sure you are comfortable right here. Very happy with all the service received they went above and beyond with our meals and any help required getting in and out of the building too!

We enjoyed a family birthday celebration dinner at The Oyster Bed on a Saturday afternoon. We were served by Will who was polite and attentive; he checked for dietary restrictions and took great care with our orders and everything arrived as requested. The restaurant was clean and warm and the staff were welcoming and friendly.

Had a lovely meal, and the service from Madison was amazing and performed greatly. Would definitely recommend eating at the oyster bed.

Lovely night at the Oyster Bed for New Year’s Eve 🥳 Service was spot on and the food was lovely! The chicken Tikka Masala was really good. We enjoyed the silent disco too and they know how to make a good Aperol Spritz too 🍹🥰

Absolutely disgusting. On arrival was told I hadn’t book a festive meal. I had in fact book for 11 people in October. Manager smirked whilst telling me she had 25 groups in the next day. She initially apologised that they had mad a mistake by not contacting me to ask what food was required but latter blamed me. I will never go back. This should have been our Christmas Dinner. We hadn’t prepared a Christmas Dinner as booked here. So no Christmas dinner for us (11 people). It was too late to even buy as the shops had sold out of anything special. So just a normal dinner for us. I have found out some other people had the same problem so it wasn’t just us. This manager needs firing so it can be run properly. I have never been so angry in my life as I was on Christmas Eve.

When we arrived waited ages to get a drink at the Bar. we went an sat at the table the Log fire was on its last legs and sending smelly smoke out which both me and my partner stank of smoke. After waiting 55 minutes our starter arrived this I must say was very nice. Another Hour later our mains arrived it was ok roast potatoes not cooked properly. Was supposed to have cauliflower cheese for Two and Pigs in Blankets, Only One cauliflower cheese came after having to ask for this the rest did not turn up. Yet another Hour passed before we got the inedible Christmas Pudding which was just like slop. The coffee machine did not work so could only have instant. I would not book Christmas Dinner with your company again and was very disappointed it cost a lot of money for a very disappointing experience. This was also the very first time in 30 years of hosting Christmas I through I would relax and let someone else do the work I will think twice in future.

Waited 15minutes for a drink, then waited 1hour for a starter and then another hour for main and stuff was missing even though already preordained

Food was brilliant can’t complain Laura done everything she could to help after having been told service was diabolical severs and customer service was ridiculously slow always had an excuse to why food hadn’t come out waiting ages for starters 1hr30 minutes after we got there then every 45 minutes after for main and deserts deserts came out wrong which was an easy fix compliments to the chef and Laura for fixing this the assistant manager was very rude behind the bar and had no customer service at all. Again we look for the positives so thank you Laura and the chefs for making our Christmas meal effiecient and easy as possible maybe have a think about future training to for other staff members

Food was really nice well done to all the chefs nothing to complain on their side done an amazing job with the food and timing. Service was diabolical assistant manager was very rude and bland for a three course meal on Christmas took four hours to come out to us wether this was cut backs on money because of double pay is not an excuse for the lack.of service and knowledge there is with servicing and bartending a manager that can't even make a simple cocktail and a waiter that asked us if we're ready for our mains then didn't bring the mains out then asked if we wanted our desert diabolical service ridiculously rude and bland seems no waiters or managers have any respect or customer service bars were dirty glasses everywhere after customers had left 20 minutes prior toilet flushes were broke which shows their not cleaned or inspected often lack of training with staff I think this company really needs a think of who's it's management and staffed are trained

Stunning Christmas eve meal. Served by Madison who was a great host. Polite and attentive , nothing too much trouble in spite of it being very busy.

Taken to our table and offered the menu straight away very friendly staff, food arrived quickly was piping hot. Was Asked how our food was and made sure we were happy. Next offered the sweet menu but were to full, asked for the bill. Went away very full and happy. Will certainly be back.

The food was absolutely lovely, everyone on my table loved it. It was the best Christmas dinner we've ever had out. The service was brilliant. The timings between meals were great also. Definitely would visit again and recommend to everyone!

Burnt food, dry, no taste. Long wait between courses. 3 deserts ordered , only 2 arrived. 3rd bought out when they realised. But was the wrong one. A birthday celebration. Will never go again.

Popped in on the off chance there would be availablity. Got seated immediately for bar service, obviously as they were busy the food took a bit, but not too much. When it arrived it was lovely. A beef roast for my picky mum, she finished! Fish and chips for the husband, a hit and 8oz steak for me. Gorgeous. The staff were all super helpful and friendly. Even though it was full the noise volume was a white noise hubbub. Brilliant as I am Autistic and have trouble with loud environments. We never felt crowded either. The price was reasonable and they accepted the NHS Blue Light card for a 20% discount. Husband, who doesn't like to spend, says that we should come once a month in the new year!

As a group of 12 we were very well looked after. The young staff were a credit to the restaurant and the manager who was great too but sadly the food let them down. The sourdough bread with the salmon was so hard it was hard to eat. Although I’m not a vegetarian I opted vegetarian option of a tart . It was overcooked and dry. The Yorkshire pudding was not cooked enough and the potatoes too. One was black and the others were hardly cooked and were meant to be roast ones!!!!!! In spite of all this we had a great evening

There was 6 of us as a family out for lunch. We were served byMadison and it was only her 2nd day but she was brilliant. The atmosphere was so friendly, welcoming, and nothing was too much bother. Really lovely food too. One of our party said it was the best mash they could find. We all enjoyed our food and drinks.

Madison was our server and what a delight! Smiling and a pleasure! Always checked to make sure we were ok and if any problems. Couldn't ask for more... my boys were 'absolutely bloated' in their words 👌😊

It was my wife's 70th birthday and we wanted to celebrate with a good meal. It turned out to be an excellent meal. We were served by a wonderful young lady named Madison. ♥

I received a 30% discount voucher via email, which I disclosed on arrival as requested. Whilst our order was placed, i was assured this would be applied, but it wasn't. Despite a lengthy discussion with the manager, no compromise was established. I have used this restaurant previously, but i will not again. The service was very disappointing, with dished staggered & fragmented. The service was unsatisfactory & wait time frustrating despite booking in advance.

We had a lovely experience at this restaurant. Food was amazing and service was very quick. I suffer with coeliac which means that I can’t eat anything with gluten in it. So you can imagine my joy when I was given a gluten-free menu which is so hard to find nowadays in other restaurants.

I do not recommend if you use a tastecard as you have no idea whether you will be able to use it at the end of the meal - even if you have checked that you can at the beginning of the meal. They only allow so many tastecard to be used per day so by the end of your meal you may be out of luck.

Lacking atmosphere as not many people in the restaurant . Uniformed black and white clothing to differentiate staff from customers. Add all food items to this questionnaire so we can answer questionnaire correctly. Cara was great, very friendly and helpful.

I came here with my family today for a local roast, the only meat options were beef which was fine for us, the food came out and the portions were tiny, the food looked and tasted as if it were sat out all day under heat lamps or was microwaved. When we asked the waiter about the meat being cold and soggy he responded with “ we have a new head chef and he’s put the meat to be left in warm water all day to keep it from going off” this news was repulsive and made us all feel sick. 100% never coming here again would not recommend !!!

First the waitress was as attentive as she could be for the number of customers. We were surprised that there were four non-service dogs allowed in the restaurant which kept barking and affected my husband's allergy to dog hair which made him feel poorly. The menu was extremely different to the weekday menu and was focussed mainly on meat and as our family don't like meat it was a problem as a significant number of items on the menu were not available. We were not advised of the soup or pie of the day and waited over half an hour from being seated to our order being taken. Once we had finished our starters is was over and hour and ten minutes before our main courses arrived although they were very nice. Our table was booked for a two hour slot but we were in the restaurant for over four hours due to the waiting. There was once couple of 'ladies' near us who clearly do not know how to behave in public/ a restaurant and made more noise than all of the other customers combined. We have used this restaurant on several occasions and will return (on a weekday) but we will not be booking again on a Sunday. Unfortunately we also witnessed a waitress tying up her hair right next to a table where patrons were eating which is not very hygienic. This was a meal to celebrate a 50th birthday and overall because of dogs making husband ill, loud women, delays of over an hour for food and a significant number of items not being available we were very disappointed with this visit which overall and with everything considered we would not give more than two stars. In all this was a very disappointing visit. Based on our visit today we cannot recommend the Oyster Bed or any dishes as a number of those we wanted were not available. Disabled parking is also inadequate for the size of the car park and restaurant.

Visited with my girlfriend after our previous visit was poor but today was a definite transition. Service was quick and friendly , steak sandwich was amazing along with our favourite cauliflower wings. Our waitress Lauren. Was very welcoming , great service . We will return

Staff friendly and helpful, this is my third time trying the oyster bed after past issues . Today was awfull food the pie was over cooked and hard topped and the carrot looked old and too soft like it had been warmed up. My sons burger and chips looked lost on the plate like. Child's portion had been placed there instead of an adult , the calslaw was in an egg cup ... .charges 15.00 for a meal which isn't a full meal is it! .....sorry very poor food. Used to be such a nice place to go to and eat good food . It never seems to change. Won't go again...... I'd add pics but can't seem.to do so here .
