Ref Deep Bass Music - I agree with the previous reviewer who complained about this. and here is an easy way for live bands to resolve this issue. Start from the fact that, the lower the bass note, the further it travels and the more disturbing it is over a wider area. (This is in the nature of sound waves.) Anyone in charge of an outdoor sound systems needs to know this, and to keep the bass registers down to a much much lower decibel level than the medium and higher registers. By this method, outdoor amplifiers would annoy far fewer people, and the music would actually sound better to those nearer to the speakers. In addition, digital amplifiers add digital percussiveness to bass notes - it sounds clever, but it just makes the music sound unnatural and adds to the problem of the bass notes being more audible over a wider area. Live music sounds good outdoors, but not if it's overamplified or over-percussive. If people can hear the music at the far end of Oxleas Meadow, that means it's much louder than needed for it to be audible by the audience seated around Oxleas Cafe; it also won't sound so good to the nearby audience because over-amplification distorts the natural sounds of live music; and could also be damaging some people's hearing, particularly the hearing of small children and babies, and older people, and more so if they are seated near the speakers. [Turn down the deep bass, and hear the real music ...]

Been visiting for decades as live local and its a wonderful location. The cafe itself makes lovely food and all the staff have been fantastic. However two issues are ruining it. Firstly it sometimes opens a bar which spews out loud deep base music no one asked for, ruining the peaceful location not only for the cafe but for the area around it. Its a qonderful location away from traffic, the only noise should be people chatting and kids playing, instead it now just sounds like any pub. Secondly the two entrances have no dogs signs built into the floor. These have been painted over in yellow paint, though you can still see them. Dogs in a cafe, constant barking and today a brief dog fight. Disgusting.

Another fabulous meal!!! I love everything about this great cafe. The food is terrific... a nice full plate and always well cooked and tasty. Compliments to Ali (Memo) - who is a great chef!! The setting at the top of the hill on Oxleas Meadow is wonderful with stunning views across the area. On a good day you can see for miles. The staff at the cafe are all lovely. They are courteous, professional and always friendly. They are so pleasant. I've really got to know Bebe, Angel, Kay, and Rambo... and they are all really wonderful people. The new additions to the staff, Grace, Neila, Danielle are terrific too. Really fab people! This really is a great cafe that is highly recommended. Oxleas Cafe is a great little spot to stop off at during a walk through beautiful Oxleas Woods to take in the views and the fresh air. The service is efficient and friendly, and whilst my veggie breakfast arrived quickly, the food was disappointing. My decaf coffee was exceptionally bitter, and the toast was hard and overdone. Instead of the potato and veg mix sausages, I’d love to see the cafe include a ‘proper’ Quorn style veggie sausage as the breakfast already comes with two big hash browns so there’s a potato overload. Some higher quality products would be very welcome and would make a huge difference. Overall, it’s a good spot but I’d probably give the food a miss unless you’re just having something like tea and cake

We sat inside the hut, as we’re not that used to outside windy & cold. By 2:00 it’s a busy lunch session for the cafe’. I’d noticed there’re a few Asian customers. Wish more local & tourists can have nice experience in Oxlae as we did. As my 3rd visit to London in 6 years, condition of public toilets of hot places have been far from satisfactory.

This is a lovely woods with a cafe that has tremendous views but £12 for two drinks and 2 biscuits is overpriced! I realise that the profits are seasonal but don’t money grab from locals and tourists. I think a lot of locals use this cafe and I don’t know how they manage to afford the prices! We visited on the August bank holiday weekend - I wouldn’t say it was busy - I wonder why? It’s a shame as this offers lovely views and pleasant service. I remember this cafe from over 50years ago and it was a quaint little place. The current owners have updated the dishes they offer but seem to have updated their prices a little too much. It is pleasant to eat there but I think a review of pricing may be a good idea.

Dar vuelta a mi cochecito pero exactamente en el mismo lugar no tenía sentido, no hizo ninguna diferencia. La falta de buenos modales en la tarta fue cuando nos marchamos y nos dirigimos a los aseos. The food at this cafe is brilliant with amazing views, it makes a lovely meal. Only complaint would be high prices, other than that, lovely place.

A fantastic view from a high position over London. Whilst it is OK the quality has gone down over the last few months. Still however OK for price with the bonus of the view.

As a local I have been to this Cafe on a number of occasions over the years. I have just been reading some of the reviews and have to say that I have always found the food and the service to be very good - summer or winter. It is known locally as the Secret Cafe because it is off the beaten track and you do have to know about it.My wife and I had breakfast there this morning (served until noon) after a 4 1/2 mile walk. It was freshly cooked, served quickly, included a tea or coffee and two slices of toast. And all for £5.95 each. Look at my photo and see what you think of the portions - couldn't possibly say they were small. There is also a really good ice cream bar for the kids (or the big kids) and spectacular views over south London and Kent. There are also a number of events on throughout the summer which are worth a visit. If you're walking the Green Chain or the Capital Ring it's a must.

Still a good English breakfast with great views service seems improved. However a fried egg cooked in crumpet ring is not good for a good old English café. to cook the egg through the yolk is virtually hard. Come on go back to dropping it straight on griddle or pan.

I've been to this cafe a few times. The service is superb, efficient, friendly and it's great for drinks and ice creams. Today I tried their food for the first time and ordered omelette and chips. I mainly eat fresh and organic food. When I discovered canned mushrooms in the omelette I wasn't impressed. Not only do they contain less nutrients they're tasteless too. It's a shame because apart from the food, this cafe is a favourite of mine. This experience won't put me off visiting again as the people who run it are great. But, please use fresh produce and I may order food again in the future.

Met a friend to take her dog out and ended up in the cafe at my friends insistence ( she was really hungry )I wasn't looking forward to it one bad as I've sampled there food before and found it luke warm, tasteless and arrived in toddler sized portions.Another minute jacket potato turned up with a teaspoon of baked beans sadly smeared on the top.You really are a bunch of penny pinchers and at your crazy prices to.Shame on you, you should all be wearing highway man style masks.AVOID !!!!!
