Osteria Bocca In Cielo in Islington

An unfortunate experience at this restaurant. The food took ages to come, we sat at our table for 30min and didn’t even get the glasses of wine we ordered. When the food eventually came, it was the wrong starter. The food was average and overpriced. The bill was also wrong, charging for medium glasses of wine when we had small ones. Avoid.

Either the restaurant was shut or doesn't exist, or is part of the same building as Marco's next door...? Edit: in light of the owner's response, this restaurant is badly signposted and at no point did the waitress ask if we were here for the wine bar or the Marcus restaurant. We saw dishes coming out of the kitchen to the table next to us that weren't on the menu we were given. Shame, because the online menu for La Bottega looked better with more selection and was more reasonably priced. This isn't good enough, they either need to either improve the signposting for the other restaurant or ask guests upon arrival which one they are there for (or at least offer a choice of menus).

Fantastic Italian food in a very relaxed, unpretentious vibe

Very average. Dry calamari, salty calzone.... friendly service but seems understaffed. Slow. Good ingredients but something is missing. Very pricey for what you eat.

The service was superb and the food equally authentic and amazing. We will be back. Hint: try the seabass ravioli, aubergine pasta and pistachio tiramisu.

Incredible food, cosy atmosphere and very friendly and welcoming staff. The penette with sausage and mushroom was one of the most delicious pasta dish I've ever had.

Authentic Italian cuisine, so so so delicious. I had the squid ink linguini and we shared two pizzas for the table.The atmosphere in the restaurant was so lively on a Friday night. Came here with my family for a small celebration and got the best service from the two young waitresses working the shift. The restaurant staff was so helpful got some food off the menu for the kids as well. So nice of the staff to ask if they can make something for the children, as well. Authentic Italian cuisine, so so so delicious. I had the squid ink linguini and we shared two pizzas for the table.The atmosphere in the restaurant was so lively on a Friday night. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious authentic Italian, service was friendly and fast, the pasta and pizza we had was exquisite, presentation of the food was great and made it look very appealing. We will go out of our way to eat here again when we return to London next time.

The best Truffle Pasta in London

I am italian and I am very disappointed. Probably the worst pizza I have ever had in London. Undercooked and poor ingredients. But what do you expect from a non Italian owner teaching to his non Italian employees? Cherry on top after they served the first pizzas, we had to wait 15 minutes for the remaining 2 pizzas because they forgot and we had to eat them cold. Restaurant like this would close after 3 days in Italy. Avoid

Just the way I like it: limited menu, open kitchen, impeccable ingredients and truly friendly service. These people love what they're doing, and so do I.

This is the kind of restaurant that I love too much to share with others, but I’d love to bring all my friends to enjoy the food here. We ordered globe artichoke, squid-ink linguine, mushroom ravioli and tiramisu. I appreciate how fresh the ingredients are. Flavours might be a bit light for Italians (i guess) but perfect for me and my friend from Cantonese area. Medium portion, good quality at reasonable prices. Nice cozy atmosphere. It’s one of my favourite Italian restaurants now :)

This is a tight and small cover neighbourhood osteria. Absolutely lovely. By tight, that doesn't suggest mean. A tight menu, ie, small selection. Leads to a better quality of food. Same with the wine list. Small selection of decent unknown labels and great quality. Our Corvina was quite spesh. The reason for the four star on service is that an itemised bill was presented AFTER we were invited to pay. Small thing to sort.

Great service, lovely food, very cute place.

The sausage pasta was lovely. The issue was with the squid ink Linguine.They had clearly run out of Linguine and squid ink and instead used no ink and egg noodles.

Passable home style cooking. But honestly not worth it for the price, location, ambience and food. Smoke from kitchen permeates the room, service was inattentive, red wine was served warm, linguine lacked flavour.

We had an amazing lunch at Bocca in Cielo. We took the veggie plate with roasted cauliflower and broccoli stems as well as the forest mushroom ravioli. Staff & the owner is very friendly and we got our lunch completed in our hour lunchbreak. Just perfect! Wish I could every day to this cute restaurant.

An excellent low key Italian restaurant. We ordered the artichoke to start which was good and came as the whole vegetable so was fun to eat. The sausage pasta was fantastic, well balanced and I think the pasta itself was fresh which is always a treat. It tasted much like the dishes you’ll get at restaurants in Italy. The iberico pork chop was fantastically well cooked with delicious cannellini beans and cabolo Nero on the side. The tiramisu was a little disappointing but this is only my opinion. The sponge was a little chewy. But it was still tasty overall. There was a small confusion with the bill at the end where we accidentally overpaid. However the owner was quick to correct this and was very apologetic and gave us a bottle of wine which was very kind. Overall a great restaurant, with a cosy atmosphere, and I thoroughly recommend if you are looking for authentic hearty Italian food in London.

First night in London and was looking for awhile for somewhere to eat in and stumbled across this gem 💎 the chef Sammy cooks with love and Lindsay was our waitress she was a treat! She really made it special! We ended up even going back for dinner the next night! 😆😂 Food was amazing and good prices! When you usually find something like this it would cost you a arm and a leg but very reasonable prices that's what makes it even more special aswell! 2 nights In London and this place really did make our stay even better!! Ps. try the chillie oil freshly made from the chef, I got some to take home and it's going on every thing I eat haha Thankyou again guys was a pleasure meeting you all!! 😊

It was the best dining experience that you can get in your life, not to mention in London. The staff were nice, friendly and helpful, making you feel like home. Very dishes are top notch - best to share a variety of food among friends and family, you just can't have enough! It makes it so special that happened for my mate's birthday with great wishes sent off from the staff and chef. Beautiful. Definitely must return - maybe a little hangout place for me and my friends!

Great food and lovely relaxed atmosphere and brilliant service

What a gorgeous gem of a restaurant ! It has everything: warm, welcoming human interaction on arrival, home style cuisine & private ambience. We arrived at midday & given the weather, a heater appeared close to our table within 2 minutes! Food: a delight! The fusilli was beautifully ‘al dente’ with a rich, but subtle sauce & parmigiano sprinkling to complement. The pizza (shared) was the outcome of much effort in the kitchen with the dough deeply kneaded and toppings specially prepared. My only regret: I had to go home & could not return for dinner this eve ! But I will do very soon 😃

Incredible nice and cozy little place with big flavours! Shout out to our waitress Lindsey who was amazing and so caring. We had the artichoke, Bruschetta and pizza and it's was so incredibly delicious. Saved as I will definitely be back!!

A gem! Based on authenticity, the squid ink linguine is not Al Dente or salty. But that is exactly why I like it. Good choice if you wanna enjoy a homely-taste meal. The pork loin was grilled to medium well. It takes like 30min to prepare this one. So be patient waiting for it. Decent portion. I would come back.

Stumbled onto this restaurant late at night when we were looking for a quick dessert. Girlfriend said it was the best cheesecake of her life! The great vibe and great food meant we had to come back again another day for a full meal. We weren't disappointed! Thanks very much from Canada for the wonderful service and excellent meal.

Authentic Italian food and great value. Wine is sourced by the owner and really good. We are regulars at this restaurant and the other one near Barbican and as customers have got to know Marco the owner who has a real passion to deliver such quality. Highly recommended

If you haven't visited Bocca In Cielo (or Bocca in Cielo: L'Osteria as I believe it's in the processed of being named now that they have a second restaurant), you're really missing out! I've dined here on several occasions and have never been dissapointed. They have a fabulous wine selection. I'd recommend starting with the bruschetta as you'll love their variety of tomatoes. If they have the artichokes with fresh tomatoes, that's another terrific one! Go with the Raviola de funghi as your main and you won't be disappointed. I've also really enoyed the squid-ink linguini with seafood, and the cod is simply to die for!! Hope you save room for dessert as they have terrific cheesecake and tiramisu. This really is a hidden London gem! It's one of London's finest Italian restaurants and at a fraction of the cost of their competitors.

Very nice Italian atmosphere, well decorated and excellent service. The food is good although we would have loved to have a bit more to eat. Prices are correct. The choice of wines is limited but of good quality. Very good experience on overall, great vibe for a chill dinner with friends at a reasonable price.

What a gem! Its a quite small local place which has incredible food!! The menus took a while to come out, but as soon as we tasted we were so happy to have these👏🏼 Authentic squid ink linguini with a lot of prawns and I love how they cook Iberico pork.

The food is always great, but the attention level dropped massively. They forgot our booking and later the starter, after 25 minutes I had to ask about the burrata, they acknowledged they forgot.

Went there with my brother the other day, we had the roasted pork and piccante pizza. The pizza was amazing but the pork was the best pork I have tried. Mesmerising food quality, recommended 100%. Will definitely be back!!!

The beat meal I've had in a while. The bruschetta is divine, the pork belly is so so soft and flavourful and the pork belly skin is crispy and it all goes perfectly with the potatoes, kale and cauliflower sides. The tiramisu is probably the best I've had in London.

Just visited this place tonight after it being recommended excellent food, the best ravioli i had! full of flavour, the starters were excellent too! The food was so good I even took home a take away. Highly recommend amazing food and friendly staff

Brilliant !! Well recommended. A small cosy Italian gem with the most welcoming Chef/owner who makes you feel at home and then prepares your meal for you whilst enjoying the wine he suggests. Will certainly return as soon as we can. Try it out...

Don't know why this place has got such a high rating. Poor service. Was made to feel unwelcome in this place, never had this experience before. I went in, ordered a coffee only as there was nothing on the menu to my liking. Was told leave if I was not ordering food. Honestly shocking service

Came here last night having wondered past in a previous lockdown. Small charming restaurant, owner/chef was a delight, full of knowledge and recommendations. We had the artichoke to start and mushroom ravioli and aubergine gnocchi for main, all very good with the highlight being mushroom ravioli. The Amicone red slipped down very nicely as well! Would recommend and will be back

Very lovely food, we had the gnocchi and the king prawn pasta. Very tasty, quiet, and intimate. A lot smaller than anticipated (only 5 tables but can sit about 16 people). Lovely for a date or a nice catch up with someone as you can talk. Chef was great and service was brilliant.

Very kind and polite staff! The calamari was so flavourful and the pizza was the best I've ever had! The tiramasu was delicious and creamy :D

Bocca in Cielo in Clerkenwell, is brilliant and has been a real blessing during lockdown. Amazing pasta and if they have tiramisu available grab a slice it is fabulous. Great service and quite reasonable prices. Good deal where you get a bottle of wine free if you buy two main courses.

We started visiting Bocca in Cielo during lockdown and have been going back consistently since. Such delicious pizzas with a good variety of toppings. The starters are also super tasty. The price is very good for such good pizzas and service is always quick. Definitely recommend!!

This is a tiny, family-run restaurant, where there are always surprises on the small menu. From dark, squid-flavoured pasta with a crab meat sauce, to slow- simmered pork belly ( see photo), to their home-made tiramisu, I can never go often enough--especially in these anxious times of closed businesses and limited choice. And it's right on the 56 and 4 bus routes.

I have been a resident of central London for 22 years and this is the best Italian restaurant here. The chef is a genius. I enjoyed the most incredible homemade tiramisu. Unbeatable!
