The menu is very extensive, so much so that multiple visits will be needed to sample everything! The food itself is delicious, service was great and the restaurant was buzzing. Will definitely be revisiting!

Went here after a volleyball match, they served 20 of us quickly, politely and promptly. Absolutely massive selection of food, good selection of drinks and everyone at our table was satisfied. The environment was authentic, the food was quality, and they didn’t turn their noses up at a large group, despite the logistics involved.

Booked for my partner's birthday. Absolutely loved the food. Delicious. If you enjoy Japanese food, you should try food here in Osaka. I'm not a keen fish and I don't eat a lot of meat there were lots of options for me to choose from. Lots of options if you want to try something new too. We dined in but they offer take away service too. The staff were lovely and attentive. Will definitely visit again.

The food was delicious. We newbies to japanese food and culture so the service helped us really well and friendly. We had an amazing diner and we fully recommend the osaka restaurant!

Ordered for delivery, and had high hopes given the great reviews - but I was disappointed...maybe it just doesn't travel well. Tempura Bento Box - best bit was the pickles and the salad which was crunchy and fresh with a peanut dressing. The rice was also nice. California rolls were also fairly decent. I don't like soup and I didn't like this soup. The squid rings were chewy. The tempura was greasy and flavourless. Even the wasabi lacked flavour. Edamame - over steamed; bitter. Tori Karage - flavour was nice but batter soggy/chewy. Tekka Maki - soggy Sadly, most of it went in the bin. Dog enjoyed her portion though. I wouldn't go back.

We arrived at Osaka at 9pm and were sat down with menus. At 9.13 we were told we couldn't order as the kitchen was closing at 9.30, which was strange as we heard the table next to us order. The young waitress was very rude and seems like she just wanted us out.

It is my second time here. I ordered tempura bento twice and it is really good! The food size is sufficient and the price is suitable for me.

Had a lovely meal here, phoned ahead and booked for the 2 of us and glad I did as around 3 different groups were turned away at the door whilst we were there as they were full! Lovely range of sushi and their beef maki (pictured) is our favourite!

We love this place so much! The food is delicious, the menu is extensive, the staff are lovely, and everything is nice and clean. If you're desperate for a bite here, make a reservation so you're not disappointed when it's full! The enoki mushroom tempura is to die for!

Is a small and beautifully decorated Japanese restaurant in Canton. They have a large menu ranging from sushi, salad, tempura , fried rice and noodles. The veggie/vegan section has been clearly marked in the menu. The staff were humble and welcoming. The prices are reasonable as well, expect around 10 to 15 pounds for a 2 course meal. We had a variety of their maki, Inari Sushi and Udon Noodles. We caught by surprise that we thought we ordered Aubergine Tempura however we were served Agedashi, which tasted good. The food was mildly seasoned as well, which is easy on your pallet. They also gave us a small pot full of soya sauce and a flavourful chilli oil to season the food ourselves.

The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is good Friendly clerk The standard of Yiyaki ramen is currently the best among British restaurants The noodles are curved like regular ramen, the soup base is thick and not greasy, and the grilled noodles are large but have a bit of pig flavor. Recommend the Osaka roll, which has fried shrimp, eel and shredded cucumber. The roll is huge but the seaweed is not crispy. The fried pork cutlet ramen soup base is not flavorful enough, but the fried pork cutlet is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside without the smell of pig.

Japanese restaurants opened by Hong Kong people are very suitable for Asian tastes. The salmon belly is very fresh.

Amazing sushi, the best I’ve tried in Cardiff. It’s been quiet the last few times I’ve been which is a shame, it should be much more popular!

This is a true gem. Amazing japanese food, fresh and very tasty. The member of staff that served us was friendly, informative and very efficient. We will definitely be back when visiting Cardiff again

I’ve recently moved to Cardiff and must say this has quickly become one of my favourite spots in the city for food! The service is excellent and the food is superb! I would recommend if you’re looking for good food at good value

Food is consistently fresh, you can taste how fresh and good the salmon is every time. The service is efficient and helpful and the atmosphere is very nicely Japanese themed. Gets quite busy often, so best to book in advance.

This is a family run restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine and the food is really gorgeous. Every time my family visits Cardiff, we come to dine in this restaurant. The food is tasty and the price is reasonable as well as the staff is very friendly. I enjoyed all the dishes especially Tempura 🍤 Moriawase and mixed Nigiri sushi 🍣👍

The set lunch menu was fantastic value and so much of it. Service was friendly and helpful. Food tasted great. Lovely atmosphere inside. I will definitely return.

Lovely suchi with a few good options. Both the octopus balls and the Crab Tempura were new to me, but I'm really glad I tried them here: excellent.

One of favourite places now! Went for dinner and the service was amazing. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. Food was hot, fresh and super fast. Couldn't list one thing bad about this place. Already thinking about what I'll order next time I go 🤭

the food is alright. ordered the salmon box and i found it quite bland. not BAD necessarily but just not good enough for me to order it again. not my favourite but i may come again to give it another chance. i've heard a lot of good things about this place! apart from the food service was wonderful, and the lady who took our order was very kind.

My favourite Japanese restaurant! I love the Sushi, Spicy Beef Ramen, Takoyaki & Tempera! (I order these the most!) The front step is high (if you are a wheelchair or walker user) but still accessible! The layout is nicely spaced and has a lovely atmosphere! Has cushioned benches but there are tables with chairs, so if you are a wheelchair user, then you could remove a chair... The customer service is friendly and fantastic! Recommend!

Great Japanese restaurant in Canton, large portions all reasonably priced. Extensive menu with good veggie/vegan options, I opted for the Sweet Potato Karaage Curry which was delicious. My fellow diners had the Bento box and sushi platters which they enjoyed (looked amazing). Staff were great, really efficient and friendly. Recommended.

Had Take Out tonight. Was absolutely delicious. Everything was still hot when it arrived (and we live the other end of Cardiff), and none of that take away sogginess you tend to get. Beautiful food, we will definitely be back!

This is without any doubt, the best ramen available in Cardiff, and it's not far from the city centre. Really happy I don't live closer as I would be here multiple times per week 😁. They do a lunch special with a tonkotsu ramen and a starter for around £12. Excellent value for money. Will definitely be back for more ramen soon.

The sashimi is not bad. The Chicken Karage don is really good. Tempuras are also amazing. The staffs are very friendly and welcoming as well.

Delicious, family friendly and accommodating for Coeliac and gluten free as well as vegetarian diets. Staff were so attentive despite being very busy. Booking advised for Sunday lunchtime. They turned away 14 people while we were there!

Had a really good lunch at Osaka with family. Food was very tasty, generous portions and fast friendly service. Very reasonable lunchtime set menu choices for £12.50. Had tonkotsu ramen which was rich and deep with flavour, served with gyoza and salad. Chicken Fried rice was also delicious, as was the chicken Katsu. Delicious food and would definitely recommend a visit.

Went in for a takeaway box meal, cant fault service or food and not to long to wait. Inside restaurant seemed very cosy

Lovely meal and friendly service. I had Pork and Rice and my wife had the karokke curry which was particularly nice. We also shared the tofu steak which had a great flavour to it.

Stumbled across Osaka looking for dinner and wow! Vegetable and prawn tempura was so light and fluffy, chicken katsu was crisp and tasty. The service was great and a lovely ambience too.

Delicious and authentic Japanese food, just as you might find in Osaka itself. We had a lovely meal after the rugby. Friendly and attentive service and good value.

The food and service were excellent. My wife and I ordered a number of dishes and couldn't be more please. Everything tasted amazing, was prepared quickly and the server's were all friendly and pleasant. We will definitely be adding it to our list of date venues.

Osaka, formerly Ichiban, Japanese kitchen & restaurant situated in the heart of Canton, Cardiff Opening times for lunchtime set meal deals 12 - 2:30pm I have tried the many dishes on the menu, and I must admit I have been extremely satisfied with them all My fave is the chicken fried rice (with extra garlic, of course.) This dish comes with a salad, 3 fried dumplings and special dipping suaces. Great place with great staff and wonderful Japanese food, visited with a friend on Thursday night I had Nike Yasai Itame, the beef was cooked to perfection and my friend had Tuna Sashimi and chicken Teriyaki, all really fresh and tasty, 5 stars excellent

Went here with a meetup group of about 15 people and the restaurant was very kind to accomodate all of us during a Saturday lunch-time with quick service of tasty food and drinks. I do recommend trying their combo meals that they offer (8-10 combos) each for 11.50. Also go for the sushi platter if you would like to try a few different types of Sushis.

The food here is the best! It is always presented beautifully and fresh, quality ingredients. The staff are warming and friendly and nothing is too much. I come here every year for my birthday and my mother's as it's the best Japanese cuisine around.

I ordered a delivery from this restaurant and it was the worst meal I’ve ever eaten in my life, i would’ve rated 0 stars if that was an option. Had a Katsu curry it was so grim I wouldn’t recommend anyone trying it. Don’t be fooled by the fake reviews saying it’s good, trust me it’s not.
