Was a little rough around the edges compared to other places we had stayed. However they provided us with a warm place to sleep and wow what a breakfast in the morning. Marion certainly knows how to feed you. Full Scottish breakfast we could not really eat it as there was so much. The hosts were really charming.

WE stayed here for 5 nights so we could explore the Uists and Harris and Lewis and we chose it because it was in the middle of the islands. The rooms are clean, comfortable, with crisp linen. I slept like a log. The food is great. Fresh, plenty of choice and good portions. Fruit and yoghurt as well as extensive cooked breakfast. No need for lunch! The bar is well stocked and we enjoyed sitting outside on the decking in the sunshine, watching the wildlife. The views of the sunset to the front of the hotel in the lounge are also lovely. All the food is cooked fresh and was so tasty. The owners went out of their way to help us enjoy our break by suggesting places to visit and phoning the local ferry office to organise ferry tickets for us, when we were unable to do it online. So glad we came and highly recommended.

Food is the best thing about this establishment. The whole experience is a bit odd really. A B&B, a little bit of hotel, a stay at your Nans house, not really sure how to describe it. The views in the resteraunt are worth the visit alone. Very good wholesome food and pretty well priced but when busy can feel cramped and a little inpersonal. The room I stayed was slightly bigger than a box but not much and certainly not worth the money but other rooms are available.

Exploring Uist islands, stayed here for 4 nights. Lovely peaceful location with wonderful views from the dinning room. A relaxed and friendly place. An outstanding dish on the evening menu, was 'fish mornay', full of fat tasty scallops, mussels & prawns.

This is a great place to eat.and fabulous views from the windows in the dining room. Don't be in a rush, Isobel cooks from scratch, so enjoy sitting in the lounge and enjoy a drink while your meal is being to prepared. I had seafood paella - the likes of which I have never tasted before! huge king scallops, crab claws, huge languistine, mussels etc Whow . My husband had the lamb shank , and plenty of lovely veg.which he raved about. Very reasonably priced for the excellent quality of the food. Great beer too!! Booking is recommended to eat at this gem of a place. Plenty of parking available. Thank you Isobel and Alan, hopefully we will be back again next year

Walking the Hebridean Way we had some bad weather and stopped here for the night. We had a very warm welcome and some great food that evening. The seafood soup was stunning! The bedrooms were comfy and warm and the breakfast the following morning was outstanding! So much choice and so much of it - set us up well for the day’s walking.

Doing the Hebridean cycleway with friends and had two nights booked here. The exterior looked unprepossessing but looks can be deceiving. I had a lovely warm room with a really comfy double bed. The view was onto a grass bank. I was concerned initially about noise potential (from other rooms) but this was only apparent in the early evening. The food was superb, plentiful and served promptly with excellent service by all staff. The massive breakfasts set us up for a day cycling ahead. Isobel and Alan were welcoming and full of useful local knowledge The Inn is reasonably priced and well located. Would definitely book again. Oh and try the Downpour gin!

Whilst having a drive around South Uist we found the Orosay Inn and stopped off for lunch. We thought it might be closed as there are not many tourists on the islands in January but it was open and we were made to feel very welcome. The dining room is bright and has lovely views out to sea. We had an amazing homemade tomato soup to start with and then both opted for the Mac n Cheese with chunky chips. Huge portions but we managed to finish it all, too good to leave any!

Poor quality of food and service. Great views in the restaurant, pity the food and service was in stark contract. Avoid!

We were staying close to Orosay Inn so it only seemed right that we paid them a visit. We were not disappointed. Fresh food served with local knowledge of where it was sourced. I had Monk fish scampi and my partner had venison, which, melted in the mouth. Go and see for yourself and discover the experience for yourself. You get out of life what you put in and that includes food. Many Thanks

The Orosay Inn was recommended in the Scotland the Best book. The book has never let us down before and it certainly didn't here. The shellfish soup was the best I've ever tasted - crammed full of fish and massive scallops and packed with flavour. My scallop main course was also superb, as was my partner's paella. To quote a TV show - you must eat here!

We called in for a meal whilst touring the Uists in our Motorhome, the place looks like a private bungalow with a large car park, but once inside there’s a nice comfy lounge seating are where orders are taken, then we were escorted to our table which overlooked the coast (lovely setting) the food was of exceptional quality using all fresh ingredients and the service was good too ! Nice place, cracking food, well recommended

Absolutely brilliant food both dinner and breakfast the latter having a huge range to choose from all freshly prepared, what a feast ! Our room for the night ( room 7 ) was a bit cramped and rather noisy as the laundry room is next door, but it was otherwise comfortable enough . All the staff are friendly and helpful.

We only stayed at The Orasay for one night and thought it was a wonderful place to spend the night. It is very isolated but you don't really need anywhere else as it has a restaurant, bar and lounge area. We were allocated room 3 which has a nice little decking terrace with seats and a table and also has views out to Loch Carnan. The room has a really large bed and a wet room as the ensuite. We found it very comfortable and the owners and staff very friendly and helpful. The full Scottish breakfast was enormous and kept me from being hungry for the rest of the day. There were also plenty of other breakfast options including a large selection of fresh berries and yoghurt.

Just popped in for an evening meal. The restaurant has pleasant views over Heather and lochs. It is quite small and is not really atmospheric but the food was very tasty and well cooked- fish cooked to perfection. Some of the dishes were, however, somewhat pricey.

My husband and I stayed on 15 August for one night while travelling by public transport between the islands. Inn is 25min walk from main road where bus dropped us (though the hosts would have collected us if we had wished). On arrival we were upgraded free of charge from our £87 small double to a standard double. Cosy warm and comfortable room. Dinner was fantastic - fresh seafood and wonderful seaweed inspired dessert - with friendly service overlooking the distant sea. Breakfast next morning was equally sumptuous - wide selection of fresh fruit and berries and wonderful cooked breakfast - no tinned prunes or rubber eggs in sight. Isobel and Alan were great hosts and though the inn is a little off beaten track and could do with a little update it was a great stop for a night!

Orasay InnStarter has to be that the food here us amazing, plentiful, beautifully presented and served. The location is fabulous with wonderful sea views from the dining roomUnfortunately the room we had, had an overwhelmingly awful smell, which seemed like dirty dog or vomit. I thought it was a rug which we asked and had removed which we thought made it a wee bit better, but the smell remained. When in the room for a while it seemed a bit better, but on. Leaving and retuning, it hit you again how bad it smelt. However the owner told us next day that the smell comes from the bedroom furniture, which is Canadian oak. Indeed the smell is more dreadful when the drawers and wardrobe are opened. The odour in the room really spoiled an otherwise wonderful stay. Staff were nice hardworking and pleasant.Disappointed to have to note the smell, but it really needs sorted as it was quite intolerable.

we were looking forward to our dinner at the orosay inn but were terribly disappointed. we had a reservation but had to sit for over 30 minutes in the waiting area without getting anything to drink. i had to go myself and find the waitress to place an order. when we were finally seated the bottle of wine was just put on the table, with no cooler and we had to pour the wine ourselves. but hey, at least we had something to drink at last. the food is not bad but nothing special, we certainly had better for less in other places in the hebrides. the evening ended as badly as it began with a wrong bill, they charged drinks we didn't have. overall it's not worth the money and the service was very terrible.

Promoted as something of a food "destination", the Inn is less than prepossessing, and while quaint, is certainly not up there with the best that this area has to offer. After over a week of sampling some of the finest seafood in the Western Isles, it was time to try something different - and perhaps this was an error? Nonetheless an item listed as an "Orasay" curry suggested that perhaps some original thought had gone into its creation. Alas, not so. An enormous serve of almost bile-green/yellow curried chicken with a serve of coloured (?saffron) rice was brought to the table. No accompaniments. Immediately the smell, and ultimately the flavour of a "Keens" powder came to mind - reminiscent of impoverished student days. A smallish bowl of ox-tail soup - satisfactory, and served with bread (no butter offered) was the other meal at our table. There is pub food in South Uist from Polochar north, as well as offerings at Hebridean Jewelery and the small "cafe" at the Askermish Golf Course that better represent the area. Try these first!

We came across this place as it was recommended on North Harbour restaurant’s Facebook page and boy we were not disappointed! We had the lobster and chorizo bisque and scallops to start- both of which were out of this world. For mains we had fish, which was fresh and beautifully presented and the venison steak which was so soft and juicy. Ginger and date pudding was a glutinous extra but we couldn’t resist how good it looked on a neighbouring table - fluffy, tasty and rich. :) We can’t wait to come back already!

We ate at the Uig Sands twice. Once as a cafe for soup and once for an evening meal. We absolutely loved the experience and it wrapped up and end of a magical week On Harris and Lewis. The food was fairly simple and not fussed about with, but was high quality produce, cooked extremely well. Best Scallops Ive had anywhere and these chefs know how to season their food. Front of house was near impeccable. Attentive, relaxed and friendly. Sadly the fixed menu had finished as the restaurant was about to finish its season, but the choices were good and balanced.

All you want from a fish and chip shop. Very generous portion of fresh fish (cooked to order) and chips for a very reasonable price. Wish i had had the opportunity to try some of the other options. Efficient service. Great value!
