Orange Tree in Solihull

My friend & I had a super lunch here today. The pizza's are beautiful (mine a Fiorantina) and so was my friend's Rigatoni pasta. Desserts were a real treat too. Service was excellent, really lovely ladies looked after us. Such a friendly and welcoming ambience in a lovely location. Would go again for sure.

Well you can tell it’s been sold. Sadly all areas from the drinks to getting the bill at the end were disappointing and after many visits over the years we will not be back.

Always enjoyed this restaurant but ordered Belly pork as advertised on menu but when it arrived it was just a large pork chop, which was so tough couldn't get a knife through it! Staff dealt with it professionally but it should hv been advertised as such on menu Also think menu needs updating, if you don't want pizzas and burgers, not much choice

We have visited the Orange Tree on many occasions, in the past with our kids, this time for an adults event. The beauty of the pub is that its menu covers all bases, with family friendly meals like pizzas and burgers, but also more sophisticated dishes like confit duck or pan fried hake. Today we enjoyed the sophisticated dishes and they were all excellent. Particular kudos to the duck which would not have been out of place in a high end restaurant. Considering how busy the pub was it was credit to all that waiting time was not excessive and that everything turned up nicely presented and piping hot. Friendly efficient service rounds off this great value choice.

The staff were very friendly and accommodated us last minute. We were visiting the area and had no idea where to go for food. I rang up 8.25pm on a Saturday night and asked if they had any tables available and what time they stopped serving. We were told kitchen closed at 9.15, I asked if we could be there in 20 mins would we be okay for food and we're told they would squeeze us in. We arrived at 8.45pm. When we arrived were had a warm welcome and the restaurant was busy. Lovely modern restaurant, where the food was beautiful and very reasonably priced. Thank you. If we didn't leave 250miles away we would definitely go again.

Very disappointed with our meal today. We both chose the chilli prawn risotto that I’ve had before. Today it was virtually inedible because there was far too much chilli in it. I removed most of mine and it was still unpleasantly hot. We told the waitress when she came to collect our plates and she said she’d speak to the chef. That’s the last we heard of it. An apology would have been the least they could have done.

Ive been coming to the Orange tree since it opened and booked today for my Mums 80th birthday because I love the large table they have in the annex, the manager who's name I didn't get made sure our table was beautifully decorated, prepared all the pre drinks with fruit, she looked after us throughout the meal and made sure my Mums birthday was very special. The food was great, kids had pizzas and we all had the lovely specials. I want to say a massive thank you for all your help today, they all travelled from the Black Country, a good 50 minute drive but loved it and will all come back.

We had such a lovely time celebrating the end of A levels for my son. I love the restaurant and the food and service were amazing 💕. It would be fab to have a party in the teepee! Maybe next time 🙏💕

Recently had the BEST Sunday roast I have ever had! We recently went for a big family Sunday lunch at the orange tree. When we got there we were slightly early so was offered to have a drink in the bar area. Which had a great atmosphere! When the table was ready one of the lovely waitresses came over to get us and take us to the table! All the staff were very attentive and friendly through the whole meal! The portion sizes were very Generous considering the great price. But the food itself was delicious. I thought the gravy was especially good! I would recommend this place to anyone who hasn’t been before and I will certainly be going back!!!

So Dissappointed. Such a lovely pub / restaurant and friendly staff. The food is usually good too but not this time as I had hairs in my main course & unbelievably a hair in my desert too.

Both of us had pizzas, one gluten-free, one normal. The toppings were desperately thin; the pollo pizza was virtually devoid of any chicken. The sticky toffee pudding, which we both had, was awful being neither sticky nor toffeeish. At £8.95 a portion it was scandalous. It's a shame because the decor and ambience are great and the service was first class.

Setting - Very nicely presented establishment with a warm welcoming appeal. Staff - Pleasant and friendly. Menu - Very Basic. Too much emphasis on burgers and pizzas Food - Average. Medium sized portions, presented well but no wow factor. Value - Not the best value for money especially with such basic and simple menu options on offer. All in all a pleasant visit and a nice environment to catch up with old friends. The meal I had was nice, however I would have liked a few more options to choose from as burgers and pizzas aren't my thing. Portion sizes were average and for the options on offer. I felt overpriced. I didn't like the automatically added 10% service charge either. Tips should be discretionary not compulsory. It just made the already overpriced food even more expensive.

I have been to The Orange Tree before, and had enjoyed the experience, but was very disappointed last week when my friend and I ordered Sea Bass served with fries and salad. The food was bland and under-seasoned and, to my mind, over priced for what we had. We paid the full bill and politely made our comments to the waitress re the blandness of the food. Her response was that the dish was one of their most popular, no apology, simply implying that we were the problem rather than the food. We felt disappointed that she didn’t seem to care about the constructive feedback we gave.

The two for one offer for pizza and cocktails are great value – really delicious. However, I was disappointed to see a £2 surcharge for a gluten free base. As good as the pizzas are, I would not pay full price.

The Orange Tree is a fantastic place to go. Family friendly, great decor and atmosphere, tasty food. We had a overall enjoyable experience which was sadly dampened by one of the younger member of staff who displayed quite a sullen attitude when we were ordering drinks. With no offered soft drinks menu we enquired if they had certain brands to which all we got back was a blunt no with zero elaboration on what they could actually serve. In the end we had to leave our table in the restaurant and go to the bar ourselves to see what soft drinks were available as this information was not forthcoming by the girl who was taking our order. A simple solution for the Orange tree would be to offer a soft drink menu or to train their staff in being able to explain what could be served when asked. This would avoid the customer having to play a guessing game or having to leave their table to order a drink. Otherwise the food and overall experience was very good!

Visited the restaurant Saturday with a group of 12 friends to celebrate 🎉 an important occasion. Drinks were served great 👍 cheers .When the food came out it actually made me feel sickly I had to return it and it was a one minute steak you get what you pay for and have to appreciate we are in challenging times and businesses need to cutback.They had a chicken meal been passed about by the waitress I Remembered that was incorrect so I said I will have that to keep up with the group on courses, they brought that out waitress asked if everything was okay Said afraid 😱 not. I gave up and had the over cooked chips.In fairness the starter salad was nice. I am shocked as other family members have dined there and are shocked at my experience whist at a family dinner party it seems likely that we were there on one of those off days.

One of the few places you can go where things just work. Staff pleasant and trained, food good and hit. Beer good. Nice atmosphere. Rare to ge my things going smoothly these days and this place seems to have it sorted

Good location just outside Knowle and tastefully fitted out and decorated. Menu is a bit confusing especially the starters section which lists expensive champagne and prosecco along with olives, pate and other starters. I ordered the hake as a special but they got my order wrong and delivered a sea bass with the veiled threat that I'd have to wait another 10 minutes if I wanted what I actually ordered. Obviously, everyone else would have finished their meals by then, so pretty pointless to offer this option. No concessions offered, just take it or leave it. The sea bass was nice, nevertheless. However, they just need to tune their customer service skills.

Came here with friends for dinner having never been before. The setting is nice with a large garden and well maintained modern interior. Staff are friendly and helpful. The food was ok, and I mean just ok. I had a pizza which was stonebaked but I’d be surprised if the base was made fresh that day, tasted like frozen dough. £15 which I suppose is standard these days It was the pudding that was the real rip off though. We had a ‘special’ sundae to share, £9, which was two small scoops of ice cream with an amaretti biscuit crumbled over the top. Vastly overpriced. Likewise my wife had a pint of lemonade and cordial which was £4. Fail to see how that can be justified! At no point did any waitress ask if our food was ok. It was very busy so I guess they dont worry about repeat business but we wont be going back.

Sunday lunch for 11 people to celebrate a family birthday. Food was OK. Roast dinner came out swimming in gravy, more like a ramen than a Sunday lunch! Service was slow and nothing particularly special. Felt a bit underwhelmed, won't return.

My husband and I booked the Tepee at The Orange Tree for a big birthday of mine. Everything was well organised and ready for when our guests arrived. The venue was perfect as I only wanted 27 people, the weather helped of course as we were able to spill out into the reserved seating area. The food was amazing and just about everyone said what a lovely time they’d had We were allocated our own waitress and we were fortunate to have been given Jess, who was brilliant! attentive, smiley and super efficient!
