drove all the way from blackburn to try this so called “ yorkshire institute” only to be greeted by a big Halal sign saying all our products are fried in vegetable oil?? the website states you can choose either dripping or oil! NOT the case ! needless to say the fish& chips were rubbish! Lets all cater for the minorities and screw everyone else!!! its the equivalent of me turning up at Pataks head office and saying “ right guys pack that in its Pie & peas from now on!

Used to eat here every time in white rose till today woman on counter was so rude and disrespectful I would never go back . She needs training or sacking horrible woman

Today myself and my wife treated ourselves at your outlet we both have very bad mobility problems. A lovely waitress asked us polity to sit at our table she got or order and brought it to us the food was beautiful thank you very much to the waitress and all staff

Amazing fish and chips, but staff were just in a rush to get rid of you and looked miserable

I have to say at 1st I went to this chip shop over the one at Tommy was a big mistake but i thought I'll try it out for few weeks. Reason being the curry sauce was not hot it was nearly room temperature, the chips portion I got was small as the gentleman behind fryer was about to fry more the lady at counter said there's enough and I also ask for some scraps which I never got any, there was a big tub in the oven and they didn't give me any or offer me any, as any other chip shop would ask and offer it to customers. What's good to you when you might throw it away and dont tell me you will re heat it, the amount times I ask for scraps with my fish and chips you staff said theres none but today i did see a big tub. I didn't say anything as I was expecting they was give decent portion for the hard earning money we earnt and to spend with them but what a suprise the portion was like a kids portion. I understand cost of living is high and the supplies they get can be expensive but if your prices are higher than any other chip shop surely you must give a suitable amount portion for customers, if you start reducing size then I expect the prices to remain same or cheaper than other locals. If the business is trying to save money on energy to not fry or not heating sauce properly be careful what your doing as food agency standards will shut your business for that as you are not following to the standards. Any takeaway or chip shop you buy any curry sauce it's piping hot and yours is near room temperature that's not right. I was thinking in my head why I got small portion chips and why is sauce not hot all this relates to cut cost of energy and reduce supplies to be use. All I can say is you need to give what customers pay for that's golden rule 1 to keep your customers happy and may return. Regardless if I get reply or not I will not be calling the manager and speak about this as only thing I can think what will happen is the manager will say I exaggerated and tell me to grow up, but my reply is it's not only me who's not happy with the portion its alot of customers not just me. Also if you have a minute go other chip shop and check out the amount of customers queuing for fish and chips compare to yours, its sad to say when I turn up at 5pm for my food your que and dinning was literally no where near as busy as the other chip shop at Tommy was. I have been to your shop over 3 weeks and I was at.your shop every Monday to Friday in the evening and I witnessed what I saw. Only reason I went to you because parking was not an issue. I hope my review would persuade you to make changes in your business so customers would return.

Food was nice but the customer service was terrible by the lady at the counter she has a blond bob cut and is called Victoria she was very rude unnecessarily was disappointing will not be returning

Quick service, decently priced, and the food is delicious. Competes with my favourite chippy in Portsmouth.

One of the best fish and chips in Leeds the frying to order so the food is always hot and fresh. Clean and friendly service every time.

I was eating fish and chips in many places and I can confirm this one was the worst one, everything was on paper and plastic, no meal deals everything have to be paid separately and they call you like you work for them to pickup the food 😡 it was my first and last time there.

*UPDATE* I have just seen your reply and I am even more appalled. You can not come back to me with some cop out statement. Your “new” staff member needs further training then and shouldn’t be allowed to speak to guests until she’s clear on what she’s saying. And I can assure you there were at least 3 other prams in the restaurant so why would she have picked us out of all these? We were given no help or advice just simply told to leave our newborn outside. It was straight rude the way we were treat and spoken too. I have posted on Facebook and all my friends and family agree. Absolutely disgusting “family restaurant” if you’re going to tell one family they aren’t allowed prams make sure the whole place is following the same rules. Absolutely disgusting service, went in today with a double pram as I have a toddler and a newborn. Was told I’d have to leave the pram outside the shop (with my baby in as she was asleep) even though there was room for the pram. I’m disgusted, you have to have a lot of courage to take two young children out of the house and been treated like that is the reason why most families stay indoors. Never will ever Be purchasing something from there again. Girl with glasses and older lady. Should be ashamed.

Absolutely amazing! I came tonight with my son and had a fantastic experience. The staff were polite and very friendly. The food was some of the best chip shop food I've ever had, and £15 to feed the 2 of us was brilliant. I want to personally thank the young girl who was cleaning up as her customer service went above and beyond. She brought our food over to us so i wouldn't have to leave my son alone to collect it, every time she was near us she came over and interacted with my son while clearing up. She made it a personal experience and made things easier for my son to enjoy. Will 100% be coming again.

The fish and chips are consistently good. Everything is cooked fresh to order but there's not usually a long wait. The staff are friendly. Wheelchair access is good.

In 1 st floor food court of White Rose Shopping Centre. Toilets at opposite side of court. Plenty of parking including accessible by wheelchair. Mainly fish & chips but also does very good breakfasts Including breakfast sandwiches.

The quality of food seems really good and the portion sizes (large box) are just about right! It was a shame with our order as something in there was extremely spicy! Either the Udoh Noodles, Sweet and sour chicken or crispy chicken was on fire! I usually like spicy food, but I ended up throwing half the box away after the skin on my mouth had started to dissolve! If spice is their thing, then I think this should be added to the menu as a warning, because they do offer spicy chips but nothing else is called out as being spicy!

Really fresh fish with nice light batte. Very clean tables and chairs all sanitised after each customer.

Staff were friendly and efficient when serving. Food was fairly reasonably priced and was served in good time. The food itself was good too.

We came shortly before closing for a takeaway and could not have been better! Everything was cooked fresh and piping hot when we got home, food was tasty and the customer service was fab!

Stopped here for lunch today, £18 for two tiny portions of fish and chips with a drink and a small sausage. Worst fish and chips I've ever eaten, incredibly greasy and the chips were hard and undercooked. I managed to eat the inside of the fish only and even that was tasteless. They don't even provide sauce! Will not be returning!

Nipped in to get something and saw that was once WoknGo is now a place called Oodles. So hey I thought I'd give it a go. The trays were empty so I assumed I would have some lovely fresh food. I was wrong. I ordered a large hot chilli box for £10..... yes £10. You would be more shocked if you saw how small the large box actually was. I waited what seemed like ages for my food, particularly long as it seemed they gave priority to the online delivery orders. I got my food and queried if I had the correct box as mine was tiny I got to the car and thought I'd give it a try as it would be cold by the time I got home. Oh wait.... its already cold. Also mushy and very bland. I have never known "salt and pepper chicken" to be so slimey and tasteless. Barely any noodles and packed with what looked and tasted like unseasoned boiled rice Safe to say I will not be returning and look forward to see whats next to take that spot as this place can't go on as it is. Unless it's a good front for something, as I was there around 15 mins and there was only one other physical customer but yet 5 or 6 people behind the counter cooking. Very disappointed

Tasteless curry sauce, the most disgusting peas we've ever had, very thin just cooked batter, greasy, just cooked chips, awful all round! EXPENSIVE!

Always found that ordering fish & chips to be a gamble as most takeaways make a poor job of it. Well not in this case, just enjoyed the best fish n chips of my life. Crisp, satisfying and full of flavour. I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Staff behind the counter extremely rude, pay £40 for food to have pink chicken given and the staff just look blankly when told. Shocking!!!!

Went to the the white rose place at 8pm, the website said closing at 9pm. The lady staff inside wiping tables said they closing at 8:30pm and that we can sit on the end table to eat because 'I'm cleaning up tables on this side' she told us. I was cross. It was a table for 2, there were 3 of us. She then intimidated us some more by saying 'we're closing at half past, this is the only table for you'. We felt unwelcome so we decided to leave and she had a somewhat relieved expression on her face blatantly showing that she's quite happy with our decision to leave. This was beneficial to her as she won't have to wipe another table after us. So disappointing and extremely embarrassing in front of other customers already eating at the table. This lady was white, blonde-ish hair with a foreign accent. I'm never returning again.

Fish is tasty-but can be very thin at times which gives a chewy texture, chips are ok-do the job. But the staff are horrendous-seem very obnoxious/rude, not very welcoming, customer service is important to a lot of people so if the owner is reading this, train your staff on how to kindly deal with customers (service with a smile, not the uninterested annoyed look)

Been a customer at Graveleys since I was a kid, really fancied a fish cake with fruit curry, asked if they still sold the curry & got nothing but attitude from the woman serving us, disappointed I just got a fish cake with chip shop curry & it was inedible, wish I had tried it before I added my own salt bc it was disgustingly over salted... & I love salt, I carry sachets in my bag coz its often not enough but I got 2 mouthfuls in & had to throw it, it took the skin off of my tongue. Seriously gone down hill, it was always expensive compared to other chippys anyway but they really have got too greedy, feel utterly robbed & too intimidated to return my disgusting food incase the rude server set about us.

The fish was so dry it was like chewing on a rubber hose pipe. The amount of oil in the fish that came out was crazy. The portion size was something back from primary school lunchtime. £10.95 for a crispy non existent haddock. Rank.

Horrible, the African lady charged me 30p because I was white, when I told her I was half cast she charged me 60p!!! I was appalled, when I told her I was actually black she discounted me 45p so I guess I can't complain x

Sorry wasn't impressed at all by this place. The fish was frozen, and it was tiny, comparing to other fish and chip places. Probably the worst I've had. The chips were okay, little portion of beans I received was find. Definitely won't be going here again. They literally make you pay for anything and everything, I had to ask to borrow the salt and vinegar, then the guy comes chasing me to my table whilst I'm using it, to take it back. I asked for an extra paper plate to put my chips on because they had given me a small plate, they wanted 30p for me to buy another plate. Mayonnaise you have to buy that which also cost 30p. The milk also it seemed everything needed extra payment. Depressing it really wasn't a nice experience. I felt we were being constantly watched also, by this polish lady whom served us at the time.

Amazing fish and chips each time

A bit of a cross between a takeaway and a restaurant. I used to go to Graveleys near Leeds market years ago. The fish was good (as good as it gets). Chips not the best. Service was pretty rubbish, I would have expected them to bring the food to my table.

Last few times I have visited the staff have been so helpful finding somewhere for us to sit that is suitable for a mobility scooter and rollator. Food is beautiful too

We called in at lunchtime and we found the food excellent. There were lots of young families in.

Had fish and chips here on Wednesday and the fish was lovely, all crisp and fresh. Chips good too. None of it greasy at all. The staff weren't overly friendly just efficient but I didn't go in there for a cuddle just some nice, tasty fish and chips and that's what I got. Thanks will definitely call again.

Prepared fresh as you wait my take out order was still piping hot after a 15 min journey back home. Really rate this place for their glorious golden crispy batter its the best I've tasted. Friendly and efficient service with great care to cleanliness and social distancing policies

7th Dec 2020. Called for a take out fish butty after shopping. The young woman behind counter was lovely and hygenic. The other older woman with blonde shoulder length hair on the other hand was disgusting considering we're in a highly contiguous pandemic!!!! While waiting for my fish butty i was watching her as she played with her mask that was only covering her mouth. Then she pull it down and picked her phone up a couple of times. Then she wiped the corners of her mouth with her hand and served two ladies that were in front of me. I was disgusted and thought if she starts serving me I'll refuse her service. Anyway it was the younger woman that served me thank god!!!

Very tasty! It's been quite a while since I've had decent fish and chips, and I must say this didn't disappoint

I wish I could give this restaurant five stars for the food because it was so delicious, but the service was awful. The lady who served me looked miserable and didn’t even try to provide an okay service. I felt eyed out by the lady cleaning tables, watching my every move and presuming the reason as to why was so she could make sure I’d move my tray, which of course I would! I felt like I was back in school. For me what ruined it overall was that the First Lady who served me was trying to get customers attention by shouting loudly, in a very dull tone ‘excuse meeee’, and repeated this throughout my meal. This review isn’t to complain but to recommend that the owners ether get table service, don’t let the customers sit down after ordering or a card number service.

By far the best chippy in leeds. And have a choice if you want it fried in vegetable oil. Great service and its 5 star food hygiene rating.

Me and my Mrs thoroughly enjoyed our fish butty when we visited on a Friday, although slightly on the expensive side but is worth it for a good quality meal. Would never dream of visiting the White Rose food court on a weekend however as it gets beyond busy.

Nicest Chippy around, the batter is spot on. Staff are pleasant enough and its good they make the effort to have a Halal offer, they will fry your food in vegetable oil as opposed to dripping.

Excellent fish and chips. The fish cakes are also very good. Fish always good quality and the batter crispy. Service very quick even when busy. Staff efficient and very friendly. We eat here whenever in White Rose. The only problem is that it can be very busy.

Very greasy more batter than fish

I have been here a few times and always enjoyed the food until today when I was served the worst fish cooked in an unidentified oil that tastes like car oil. I never asked for the oil version and thought beef drip is the norm....obviously I was wrong. I felt terrible for the following day thinking it was food poisoning but think now it is this awful oil. Graveleys should always use traditional ways of frying fish instead of this stupid oil version!! as I think it changes flavour and is no longer tastes like English fish and chips. Very disappointed this time and could be my last visit I am afraid.

Rude staff that speak in their own language and stare at you while your eating

Halal means their batter contains no meat by products and they fry their fish in vegetable fat. Also there is no contamination between the two. Of course it's best to eat where there is no pig fat anywhere if you're looking for real halal, but they are the next best thing
