One Polkirt Hill Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Wow wow wow.! What a fantastic meal. I can’t think of anything negative to say. Fantastic friendly service. I’ve experienced some fine dining but this was up there with the best. If you’re anywhere near Mevagissey and looking for somewhere to eat this has to be top of your list.

This is a lovely restaurant with great service. The food was amazing. Good variety on the menu with daily fresh fish dishes. They also cater for vegetarians. We will definitely be back when we are in Mevagissey again.

Frequent visitor to Mevagissey, had only walked by before! Very friendly welcome, lovely menu, delicious food. I had the crab and chilli starter and then the seafood and pastry with dill and white wine sauce. The flavours were gorgeous and I thoroughly enjoyed it along with a nice glass of Gavi. Very friendly and I would definitely go back again.

My husband and I went for Christmas day dinner and the whole experience was superb from start to finish. We rang to book and although closed for their break we had a call back to confirm. The meal was extremely good and very filling, the service was delightful and professional. All in all a really lovely Christmas day. We would absolutely recommend. Thank you to everyone involved.

We visited a few weeks ago the food was amazing, well cooked and presented. Locals were eating in here too , a few people booking tables for a re visit before leaving for the evening. Menu looks so good it was hard to choose . .

We were the only ones in the restaurant until one other lady came in. It was the night Storm Ciaran was coming in so we went early at 6pm. The food was amazing the best steak I have ever had. I just hope that more people try it. Would definitely return

Hands down the best place to eat in mevagissey. Fresh, delicious expertly prepared food and the couple who own One clearly enjoy what they do and really care about their guests' experiences. Can't reccomend One enough. It's worth coming off the harbour front to eat a beautiful dinner at One.

We were recommended to give this restaurant a try and oh my goodness, we were not disappointed. We booked in for a Sunday roast, unfortunately I cannot eat garlic and so could not have the roasted lamb. This was no problem for the lovely chef who cooked me the most delicious steak that I have ever had. Loved the food and the service was fantastic, really attentive and nothing was too much trouble, thank you for a great meal. Can’t wait to return when we are next on our holidays

Quite simply this place is a must visit. The fish options are incredibly fresh, the food is of a high quality and the waitress incredibly friendly. Genuinely surprised at how good a choice this was, restaurants like this should be the benchmark rather than the exception. At the time of writing, the business hasn't been here long (est April 2023 I believe) but I genuinely do hope its still here on my next visit.

Have eaten here twice now and on both occasions the food was absolutely amazing. The first time I visited was with a friend and had Skate which I had never tried before, this was the chefs recommendation. Was amazing and the second time I was with my wife and we both had the fish pie which I can honestly say was the best we had ever had. We visit Cornwall a couple of times a year and will definitely book again. Highly recommend as the food and atmosphere was perfect in every way.

Have been visiting Mevagissey for 17 years and on our recent trip visited the newly opened No1. In a word outstanding. Superb food & wines. By far the best restaurant in Mevagissey. Well done No1.

Fabulous new restaurant in Mevagissey. We both had the scallops, followed by the Monkfish Red Curry and the Brill with a lobster bisque. Clever cuisine an infusion of East meets Europe. Service was friendly and attentive, cannot wait to visit again, thoroughly recommend.

We booked on reading previous reviews and we wasn’t disappointed, my husband started with scallops and I had the crabmeat with salad, mains for me was a monkfish red Thai curry and my husband had lobster Thermidor, we couldn’t manage a desert. The whole meal was just perfect, and I’m sure we will return.

Very good food at reasonable price. Can't order rare steaks but otherwise excellent. Owners were great. Highly recommend.

Locally sourced fish dishes, beautifully cooked with great care. The lobster thermidor was especially tasty, the scallops were excellent and the prawn, mango, avocado starter perfectly balanced each flavour. We visit Mevagissey most summers and will definitely go back here.

So glad we tried this restaurant. Service was lovely and the food was excellently cooked (and good portions). We had some of the fish mains: brill and mackerels. Both lovely. The tiramisu was amazing there too.

It was a good meal overall, we both ordered some Chardonnay and it was amazing. For the main, I ordered half a lobster and my partner had monk fish. While the seafood was very fresh and is claimed to be local, we both agreed that its taste was majorly overpowered by an accompanying sauce. When my meal was served, the staff member said that the lobster that they got today was quite small and they would discount its price. I’d say that it had about a half of the half a lobster portion that I had in other places, which was mostly covered by mushrooms in a cheese sauce that was filling in the space. For the dessert, I ordered a crème brûlée and it was tasty but again, the top was quite burnt and too hard to be broken lightly by a spoon. In the end, the discounted price of half a lobster was £24.95 instead of £27.95 which to mind, was not an appropriate discount, considering the size of the meal. Overall, I would say that the meal was good but not worth its value.

We had a lovely evening dining at One Polkirt hill .Great menu and food freshly cooked so able to make adjustments to suit my husband who prefers his fish served without dressings .Everyone enjoyed the food and the service was excellent .

Traveling from the U.S. and we were following google directions for a different nearby restaurant that happened to be closed. So glad we gave this place a try. The chef made us fresh, local lobster, prepared to order with garlic butter since we don’t eat it in the style he listed on the the night’s menu. Very accommodating and friendly! The lobster, fries and salad were all excellent. The price was reasonable for the quality meal.

This chef knows what he’s doing, across the menu, One Polkirt blends distinctive flavours of fresh Cornish local catch, SE Asian spices, the colours of southern Med, and a twist of best of British. We loved it and are delighted to see this addition to our village’s excellent restaurants. Service was excellent, priced just right for quality vs value.
