Olive Tree Brasserie Stockton Heath in Warrington

Honestly shocked that this place has 4.4 stars. We went on a Monday night and it was very quiet so no excuse for slow service, yet that's exactly what we got. Waited about twenty minutes to have our order taken, and was slightly disappointed that they weren't prepared to do gyros, because we arrived after the time limit. Opted to have moussaka instead, but was told that it would take half an hour, while others in the party would be served more quickly. Changed to the Metaxa chicken, with olives as an appetiser, but after five minutes we were told that there were no olives! And then waited thirty five minutes for the order to come out, only for the chicken to be overcooked, dry, and chewy. Others in the party had food that was okay, but nothing to write home about. All in all, a real let down, especially given that it's not cheap.

Amazing food and nothing to much trouble.

Second visit to Olive tree. Very disappointing. Fish and chips very small, chips frozen fries. Presentation very poor. Did not say anything at the time because the service was excellent. There are other places to eat in Stockton Heath so will try them instead. Will not be returning here again.

Always have great food & service here. One of our favourite places to go for Sunday lunch. Big shout out to Jayne who is amazing, always very attentive and looks after us very well. Great atmosphere and the bottomless brunch can be recommended too.

The restaurant has just had a refurb and I must say they’ve done a great job! Lovely decor with lots of plants and really cool vibe. Loved the live music too! The staff are always really friendly and the food was fantastic. Will definitely be back soon!

Jayne was lovely service very attentive

Service was very slow and rude. Staff wouldn't really acknowledge you and try to avoid eye contact in order to gossip at the bar and avoid serving. Took a long time for food to arrive, one of us ordered a steak that had been absolutely cremated when requested medium rare and was tiny. I ordered the burger which was as dry as a bone and you could barely see it hiding under a mountain of garnish. The chips were dry and bland. Calamari was tasteless. Drinks way too expensive for what they are worth. Bit of a waste of a night, would recommend going to Ego's instead

Visited on Valentine’s Day for the first time. Unfortunately the experience was very average and underwhelming for the price paid. I appreciate that it was busy and that is understandable but there is no excuse for poor customer service, we were waiting to be seated and there was no staff on site and when some one did approach no apology for the delay and not even a warm welcome. Food was not great, I had the squid for starters which was served barely warm and the squid was very chewy and tasteless. Main meals were better and the dessert was delicious but slow service for drinks and getting the bill. I had also paid a deposit online when booking which was not deducted at the point of paying and I had to ask for this to be removed. Reading so many great reviews and looking at the instagram pictures it was a bit of a let down.

4 of us, were at the restaurant on Friday, and ordered 4 steaks ( 2 fillet and 2 sirloin). Unfortunately my steak was lukewarm and I did complain, but was told it was because it was rested. Absolute none-sense! The others had hot food. Will not be going back for a good while, especially given the amount of food outlets in the village!

Had a wonderful bottomless brunch, load of choice and service was perfect! Jayne’s excellent service really made our birthday celebrations the best they could be!

Lunch at Stockton Heath Olive Tree Sunday 26th January 2025 4 of us, great location, good food, well priced, without doubt the lovely young lady Jane made all the difference such a willing & able waitress nothing was to much trouble for Jane and very knowledgeable and attentive to our requests, well done young lady take a bow! customer care as it should be! We will be back hopefully with Jane looking after us once more

New review 26/01/25 Went last week for a meal with friends in the evening and it was excellent. Service & food! Steak and kalamari cooked with perfection! Booked a table for lunch with family for today. Fir my surprise we had a very disappointing experience. Food wasn’t good. kalamari was oily and not prepared right (chewy and with a strange removable plastic texture around each ring). It was inedible. We sent back and wasn’t charged for it. Garlic bread was a cheap version of frozen ones however it costs us £7. It was cold and tasteless. Steak ok but not as good as the one I had on the evening meal. Burger bread over baked. Burger very dry. I can’t praise enough the staff. Friendly and polite. 2019 - even we didn't have booked a table for valentine's day, they offered a good spot for us. Food was delicious and prices were reasonable.

Thought kebabs would be better with some kind of bread, also lamb pieces rather than meatballs. Otherwise good.

Food was delicious, but what made the evening so special was our waitress Jayne, she was attentive, full of banter, and just pleasant to be around, she is an absolute Asset to your team. Having that smiley friendly face around while you’re enjoying a meal is a must, and she exceeded all expectations. Well done to Jayne. Chloe & family x

Lovely food - we had a shared starter of kalamari and hallumi, followed by mousaka and stifado, finished off with puds. Cocktails too! Staff very attentive and welcoming, making the experience very pleasant. Good value for money for first class food.

Food at The Olive Tree is absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and served piping hot. You were not rushed between courses which made our meal a very relaxing experience. Our waitress Dyleen was exceptional , great service and very professional. Highly recommend coming here.

This is a difficult one, i have had very good experiences here in the past but a recent visit was absolutely appalling, we arrived a little early and sat in the front of the restaurant, we had a booked table and moved to that table a little after, the staff never told us that a 1 hour 30 min timer had begun when we got there. when we got to our booked table we had to ask 3 times to order food and drinks, this took 25 mins in total, they served us a starter before we even received our first drink which is unacceptable. we then received our mains and in fairness the food was very nice, however when we asked for the desert menu we we told we had to leave as the table was booked, this was only 45 mins after are original booking time, when we challenged the manager about this we were told they were sorry and we had to leave. This is totally unacceptable for the fact we received NO service for 25 minutes and all they were interested in was getting rid of us to get another table in as there currently 50 percent off. I was really looking forward to this meal but the staff were rude and couldn't care less, such a shame as iv been here a lot and wont be returning

Extremely disappointed with the service and attitude of the staff. We had a table reserved for 18.30 and a member of our party arrived early and was seated at a table and told it was available until 19.00. when the rest of the party arrived we asked to move to our reserved table, this was not a problem. We ordered drinks and then asked twice to order food after a 20 minute wait, the starters arrived and we still hadn't received the drinks! I have no complaints with the food but after finishing our meal we asked for the dessert menu, at this point we were told we had to leave the table as we had exceeded the 1hr 30min time and the table was booked for another party, this was 45 mins from us being seated. We were then informed our booking had been altered to include the time a member of our party had sat and had a drink whilst waiting for us to arrive. The Manager Nicole just kept repeating that she was sorry, this does not compensate for very poor management, communication and service. I would not recommend this restaurant, I have never experienced such poor service and bad management.

To add some context, this was my first time at Olive Tree. The food was okay, the service was dismal, the prices are way out of whack for the area. Central London prices in Warrington and the food just doesn’t hold up. Waited almost 20 minutes for the bill after asking for it, when there were about 5 tables seated. In the end I got up and paid at the bar. Not great and we won’t be back. Happy to pay good money for good food, but the food was bang average. My girlfriend has been on two other occasions with work and she said every time she has been the food has been naff, but the bar staff are talented.

Came nye, as we did last year and enjoyed it. Our table was booked for 7:30, seated at 7:50 which is fine as expected to be busy. We then waited around 20 more mins for our drinks to arrive, total waiting for food was around 50 mins. Had empty glasses for a long while until we finally managed to flag someone down. Just the waiting around for everything made the occasion less enjoyable. I assume there was an issue with overbooking and understaffing. Not the staffs fault at all bless them, but no one seemed to know what was going on. Luckily the food was absolutely gorgeous as always, compliments to the kitchen!

Very rude staff! Was really looking forward to a lovely meal after being told my friend is having a baby. We got told to move to go in the dog friendly area which was on the terrace upstairs in the freezing cold. On our own up there, no atmosphere but then saw a Labrador in the main restaurant when we left I’ve never had such rude staff or had to leave a restaurant ever! Luckily we decided to leave and had a gorgeous roast dinner in an independent small restaurant just down the road and they made a total fuss of my dog in this restaurant.

Terrible service. Rude staff. Asked for dog friendly table, sat us down asked for a dog bowl 3 times as dog was thirsty didn’t provide one then asked us to sit outside because dog barked. We were left outside with no service , heaters not working and in our coats when the restaurant downstairs was half empty. Really disappointed.

Staff were great, food was appalling. We were seated outside on the terrace early evening, it was cold & windy - the heaters had no gas as they had “run out a while ago”, which was a shame as we could’ve used the heaters to finish cooking our starters and mains… soups were cold and served with no spoons, turkey kebabs were somehow burnt on the outside yet raw inside, roast dinners stone cold, steaks were tough. Several meals were sent back and comp’d. Deserts were delicious though!

Updated review - one of our favourite restaurants in Stockton Heath but went on Christmas Day to be bitterly disappointed. Squashed on a little table right near the toilet downstairs…my little boy asked me why it spelt like Cow Poo. I told the staff who appeared totally disinterested. Food wasn’t anything special at all… inattentive staff, smelly and squashed seating and poor food… and paid in excess of £250… 2 adults and 2 small children! Might stay in for Cmas dinner next year and unfortunately won’t ever be heading back to OT! Previous review of feb/march 2024: My wife and I went in Feb as an early valentines treat. One word...amazing! Staff were great, food and drink exceptional and real value too. We shall be back for a 4th time soon.

Just had drinks on a Friday afternoon. Super service by Oli who appears to be able to do 12 drink orders at the same time no problem - no delays for us. Place had a great atmosphere, felt like the place to be.

Found food a little expensive. Sunday lunch was 18 bit over priced for what it was they are probably trying to get money back from when their x owner scammed the government during covid. Taking loans out that he didnt need. Wont be going back there. It has a bad reputation now.

£19 for four painfully dry meatballs, a side of chips and salad. I don't know how the reviews are so good for this place. All of us were disappointed with our meals. Service was also a bit weird and felt unfriendly/annoyed at us for asking questions. Wouldnt recommend as there is plenty better options in Stockton heath

Absolutely perfect night, with Oli and Jayne taking care of us. A Big family birthday tea, super accommodating when we had a issue with desserts, food was absolutely delicious and amazing portions. This would be a four star if the service was better, had to take cutlery from another table after waiting for some to be brought to us but didn't arrive and waiting to pay the bill for around 10 minutes as staff were stood at the end of the bar chatting so had to approach them to pay, other than that food was tasty.
