Olive Lounge in East Devon

This was my first but definitely not last time at the olive lounge. Lovely food with lots of gluten free options and wonderful service. Would definitely recommend. The pimms was great too!

Delicious meal for two. Three courses, bottle of wine, beer and prosecco - all for under £100. Great service. Lovely atmosphere. Now one of our favourite places to eat in Exmouth

We had a very enjoyable evening at the Olive Lounge, food was good, atmosphere warm, but above all the welcome and service provided by Lisa was outstanding.

First of all let's dispense with the negatives. Our table was booked for a Saturday evening : 19:30 - table booked 19:20 - arrived early, but turned away as table wasn't ready for another 30 minutes with no offer to sit at their small bar to wait. 19:50 - got our scenic front of restaurant table 20:20 - took our order for drinks 20:30 - took our order for food 20:58 - starter arrived 21:25 - main arrived 21:55 - finished at the restaurant Overall the service was incredibly slow. The waitress wasn't very attentive. We would have liked to have known in advance if the service was going to be delayed. It took so long that I went up to the bar to pay the bill. I was aware that the lady was tallying up their customer's bills, but it would've been nice to have been acknowledged. Cant fault the food which was amazing. We ordered the Turkish Kofta starter. Our mains, Pan Fried Seabass Fillet and their Seafood Paella. Unfortunately the service let down the whole experience. Which is a shame because it's a rather quaint little restaurant. If you'd like to dine in a timely manner, then this place may not be for you.

Nice little restaurant with home cooked food and friendly atmosphere and staff. A little more bread with the staters would be appreciated for the cost paid, but still very tasty.

This is a very good restaurant! Briliant communication during the booking process and a great welcome and it's dog friendly if you let them know in advance. My lady made the better choice of starter with the Seafood Gratin which was excellent; my own Crispy Pork Ribs were very tasty but not quite as good. For mains my Beef Rib was amazing and melted in the mouth matched with a great mix of griddled veg and a truly amazing sauce - Buster licked my fingers dry of that sauce with his taste! My lady went for the Signature Paella which was immense. She's not a fan of large pieces of onion or peppers but, such was the flavour of the food, that she's looking forward to visiting again as soon as we can. We live in Cornwall and were visting Exmouth to see my lady's mum in a nursing home there but older sister also lives there so we hope to be back again soon. The quality of cooking, flavours and service have to make it both highly recommended and very good value

Had an amazing signature paella. Great food & service.

Not been for some time but took friends this weekend. Still as good as ever. All dishes were wonderful and totally recommend the ham hock. Did not manage desserts as stuffed after starters and mains. This really is somewhere you should try

This is a great restaurant for special occasions with efficient but home friendly staff. A well planned Mediterranean menu and selection of wines. You need to book (I have already booked Mt birthday in February. Back again June daughters birthday great evening , Olive Lounge does Sunday lunch, booked in on July 30th.

Thank you for a wonderful meal this evening. A warm welcome top service and a menu that has so much on it. Fresh home cooked food and very affordable 2 of us had starter main and desert + a beer for £35 each, will be back next time in Exmouth as would love to get further through the menu ✌️

Went to this place twice during our week long visit, staying at Devon Cliffs/Sandy Bay. My photos show our bill, cod in lemon sauce, pork tenderloin, pork belly and the beef lasagne (in a massive dish I might add). There were 4 of us, despite what the bill says. We had beer and wine and 3 puds on this occassion with bread and oil to start. Mine was the lasagne with salad (and a side order of chips, not shown) -it was truly massive and I couldn't quite finish it. Very tasty meals and we found it easy to park on the Thursday we visited (15th June 2023), about 6.30pm. ☆☆☆☆☆ Highly recommend this place. It was clean and tidy, and the lady owner was very pleasant and chatty. Nice relaxed atmosphere with some 'oriental' music playing in the background.☆☆☆☆☆ On the previous occassion I had the paella special - very, very tasty but again, it was massive and I couldn't quite finish it (which is why didn't have it the second time around).

Had our first take out from the Olive Lounge last night . Fantastic food and excellent service. Thank you. We will definitely be using that service again when the family come to stay..

What a little hidden GEM! After driving down from Bristol yesterday being greeted by friendly welcoming staff and seated and a beautiful little table in the window for a much needed catch up with a friend, needless to say we were not disappointed. My dietary requirements were thought of throughout the evening our glasses never empty and the food was some of the best vegan food I’ve ever had. Thank you so much for accommodating us and we will be back!

Nice enough place. The food was ok but the service was slow and you had to ask every time you wanted a drink. If the food was cheaper I'd give it a higher rating. Also saw the chef walk past with mcain oven fries and then they want £3.50 for a portion, that was made more annoying when they wouldn't swap potatoes for fries. Over all ok but too pricey for the service and food

Fantastic food which was cooked perfectly. Had the Mediterranean short rib beef which i would thoroughly recommend whilst my wife had the chucken souvlaki which she said was really tasty. Starters of garlic mushrooms and koftas were spot on too in terms of both flavour and size. The ambiance and service was excellent and the food was well worth the prices. Thanks for a fantastic evening.

Excellent food and service and good to see something different on the menu. I had the seafood gratin and Iberian pork and my wife had the king prawns and chicken souvlaki. Definitely recommend this place if you are ever in Exmouth.

We came along this restaurant, by accident on holiday. What a gem. The food was amazing. Service was warm and friendly, but not intrusive. Wishing you all the best in the future

Really nice little restaurant and great service. I was really thrilled that they offered a wide array of gluten free and vegan options, however wasn’t blown away by the GF bruschetta which was actually on a gf pitta bread instead of bread - seems odd when GF bread is easy to come by. I went for vegetarian paella for my main as I had seen people mention it in reviews, I’ve got to say I wasn’t blown away though, it could easily be improved by using paella rice instead of basmati to make it more authentic. Desert was nice and food and wine was all fairly priced. I would still return in future.

Had a fantastic meal here whilst visiting Exmouth on holiday. All food looked delicious and the paella (which I had) was excellent. My daughter, who can sometimes be a fussy eater, polished off the chicken souvlaki in record time!! Staff are friendly, attentive and helpful. Would not hesitate to eat here again.

Poor Service, I watch the lady behind the bar pour old beer in my pint to top it up and then serving it with a dead fly in, this was extremely disgusting. The food could of been better quality. Won't be going back here. If you are thinking of going watch the staff closely as they try to cut as many corners as possible and not caring about hygiene.

I had the fortune to eat here recently whilst on an extended weekend in Exmouth. The atmosphere here is warm and inviting and the food outstanding. Definitely the best Mediterranean food I have eaten in a while.

A last minute change of plans led us to Exmouth, we stumbled upon this place and so glad we did. The atmosphere was relaxed. The food was excellent. The flat bread sharer is perfect for 4. The paella is the best ive ever tasted.

The food is some of the best I have ever tasted, the atmosphere fantastic, and full of fab advice of drinks, I am only here a few days and they are closed for the rest of the time, which is very sad for me.

We have only just discovered the Olive Lounge but wished we found it earlier. What a fantastic menu and brilliantly cooked. The meals for takeaway are ready and on time and the Valentines meal was a superb offer. There were also some extra surprises which added to the experience. We will be back.

Really delicious high quality food (went for the veggie paella and the halloumi burger) and really friendly staff both on the phone and in person! Covid safety also well arranged with sanitiser at the door and masks worn by staff. Look forward to visiting fully post virus!

Had enjoyed a number of takeaways but now had the opportunity to visit. Enjoyed excellent meal and service and the added bonus of the generous discount offered to NHS staff. All courses were wonderful and accompanied with excellent service. Very enjoyable evening and look forward to returning soon. .

Owing to shielding we had to have a take out which was all ready when we arrived, good & hot & nicely packed. We had 3 different meals, Iberian pork, lamb shank & top beef rib all delicious with beautifully cooked veggies follwed by profiteroles which my husband said were the best he's ever had (at 71 thats a real complement 'cos he's had many! )

We ate here and thought the staff were lovely, they made it a nice evening out after lockdown. We didn't like the paella, soggy and a bit sour but the starter was great and the lamb tagine tasty.

An amazing evening, the food was absolutely perfect and as was the service. The range of options on the menu was so good to see, as being gluten free I often do not get as many options in restaurants but I struggled to choose because there were so many! Food tasted so fresh and me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our meals, just wish we lived closer as we would love to try all of the menu ☺️

We ate here one evening, the menu was interesting but not exceotional, the food likewise. The restaurant was fairly busy but the service was ok.

During our 4 night stay in Exmouth we ate here twice. Both times the food was excellent. We loved the pork ribs and moules as starters. The main courses were all great. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We would highly recommend this restaurant, and if we are in the area again we will definitely revisit.

Visiting the area and found this restaurant on Google. We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we walked in. The restaurant had a homely feel, nicely decorated with bit of the Mediterranean thrown in. Lisa served us, explained the menu and left us to make our choices. The menu is fantastic, dishes from all over Europe and the Mediterranean, all at very reasonable prices. Each dish arrived hot and beautifully presented. The portions are large, very good value for money. The three of us (2 adults and a teenager) left with full stomachs feeling very satisfied. If only we lived nearer (we live in Essex) we would no doubt be regulars to this lovely restaurant. I hope they can survive the covid pandemic. Best wishes to you both

Excellent food and wine and well organised as far as Covid precautions are concerned. We loved it ! The Beef rib was excellent and so was the Belly Pork. A really lovely evening and we would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

The whole experience was fantastic. This is what restaurants should be like.The staff were very welcoming and at pains to adhere to the Covid rules and explained these to us both pleasantly and efficiently.The food we had was delicious. I had the lamb kofte starter and paella main course, my wife had the ribs as starter and cod main course. It was clear the chef knows how to cook! All were good - the 'standouts' were the ribs (delicious) and the paella (I've had this a lot in Spain and this was up there with some of the best.- slightly different with a hint of fennel or star anise plus a very mild hint of curry) - definitely worth trying.No hesitation in recommending the Olive Lounge. Indeed we are planning to visit Exmouth again next year and will ensure we book in advance to eat here again.

Absolutely lovely restaurant with a different interesting menu that stood out and the food was executed perfectly.We popped down to exmouth for my wife’s birthday and while browsing local restaurants the olive lounges menu stood out and I booked via email quickly and easily. I had the pork ribs to start and my wife pinched some and we both agreed that they were the best ribs we had tasted in a long time if not the best. My wife had baked mushrooms in a cheese sauce and they were sublime we also shared some breads which our little one loved dipping in our starters! Again the breads were lovely fresh and warm. For mains we had the beef ribs they were fantastic crispy well cooked and full of flavour and a substantial amount of meat. The accompanying vegetables and dauphinois were also very tasty.Our little one had a child’s creamy chicken pasta which he loved but unfortunately he was teething and was getting upset so we had get it to take away meaning we missed desert which was disappointing but we will be back!Thanks for some great food and lovely hosting!

Excellent independent restaurant run by husband chef and wife waitress. Food was superb! Good VFM, tasty and overall I could not fault a thing. If I lived in Exmouth I would eat there at least on e a month as the menu isvaried enough an the restaurant very pleasant. Overall 10/10. Go try it.

Went for dinner based on the reviews we had read. There was hand gel on the door and we had instructions re gelling before we used the bathroom from a polite young man. We had prawns to start, hubby had crispy pork ribs which were especially nice. He then had chicken and i had the iberian pork. Both were so tasty and would reccomend them. Presentation was very good and the selection of veg with them very well thought out. To finish we had profiteroles, again simply stunning.To accompany we had a jug of sangria, good value and delicious.For me the only downside was I felt the tables and customers to be in too close proximity.Would definitely recommend the food maybe post lockdown.

We went as a family of 7, from 7 year old old twins to 70+ grandparents and all had a lovely time. Right from booking through to service we were met by lovely friendly staff. The setting was comfortable and relaxing and in no was rushed. Although the staff were clearly busy, they were at all times pleasant and helpful. The food was sumptuous and plentiful. Not often a group of 7 all come out making the same positive comments. Happy to recommend and will certainly pop back if in the area.

First visit here on an overnight visit.. We ordered the mushroom dish to share with extra bread as a starter followed by the pork and cod. We shared a honey sponge dish to finish. All were fabulous... couldn’t fault anything.... amazing...

We were recently holidaying in Devon and decided to celebrate my son’s A level results. We hadn’t booked and were aware it might be difficult to get a table due to social distancing measures however this wasn’t the case and we were shown to a lovely private room at the back which opens out on to a pretty terrace. The menu contained a lovely range of mediterranean dishes plenty to suit our party of five. The food surpassed all expectations - was absolutely delicious and the portions were generous. Couple that with a great wine list and wonderful service we had a fantastic evening at the Olive Lounge. Would highly recommend

Four of us went out on Tuesday august 18th service was vary good and we were made very welcome.the food was amazing fresh,hot and very tasty.i had the paella and my friends had fish.i highly recommend you eat here the food is amazing and staff are so friendly.

We visited olive lounge on a Tuesday and got the 50% off dine out deal. The food was lovely, really big portions! Staff were attentive and service was impeccable. Would recommend the chorizo and kofta starter and then the mixed paella!

Wow is an understatement !! I had garlic chilli king prawns, paella, spiced walnut and apple sponge all very tasty and cooked to a high standard. My wife had chorizo sausage, iberian pork belly and chocolate brownie swapped the ice cream for cream she said the flavours of all the dishes were amazing and kept on about it even after we had left the restaurant !! Lovely bottle of wine and clotted cream gin with elder flower tonic recommended by Lisa who was lovely too and happy to engage in conversation with all her customers. If you don't go here you are most definitely missing out. Thank you Lisa for the fantastic food and your hospitality.

Ordered takeaway for our anniversary, wasn't sure what to expect as restaurant takeaways ordered from elsewhere recently have been disappointing, not so here. We had a fantastic meal and can't wait to order again or book a table. Many thanks all.

We knew we wanted to do something for our anniversary this year but both being key workers it needed to be something easy as we didn’t have time to plan a lot. This meal did not disappoint from start to finish, the menu is very clear online, or you can collect a paper copy when they are open. Orders are taken over the phone, dietary requirements were checked, everything was double checked including collection and delivery time. An explanation of what would happen on collection was also given. We arrived 2 mins before our collection time and they were just finishing off the customer before so were asked to stand outside until they had finished. When I went in there was a hand cleaning station, my order was double checked before payment was taken by contactless card then she went going out to the kitchen to collect it. It came out in one bag, well packed to be able to take it home. Presentation in take away containers is never easy however we were impressed. We hadPaprika Wedges and Crispy Pork Ribs to startSignature Paella and Beef Lasagne as mainsProfiteroles with Chocolate Sauce and Warm Brownie with Chocolate Sauce as dessertsAll of the dishes were the correct temperature to eat when we got home we didn’t have to reheat anything, it took us about 5 mins to drive home. They all tasted really nice, had great flavour and the portions were a great size. We would recommend this as a take away to anyone and once things go back to normal will go into the restaurant, I’m looking forward to being able to have things off the full menu, which is not currently being offered but is still available to view.

I have eaten at this lovely restaurant a couple of times but this was our first lockdown takeaway. Quality was exactly the same, absolutely delicious! Hot, fresh and good sized portions. It was ready at my collection time and all covid infection control procedures were in place.Well done Olive Lounge and thanks for the NHS discount x

We had a 3 course meal arranged by our daughters but choosen by myself prior to my husbands birthday. Food was delivered with the dishes marked in containers for convenience, Everything was superb the flavour of the sauces were brilliant. Felt thouroughly spoilt congratulations to Lisa and husband and cannot praise them enough .

Lovely relaxed, authentic atmosphere, in this cosy family run tavern like restaurant. The service was friendly and attentive. The food! Wow! Amazing choice, flavours and quality. I had the garlic mushroom starter and the taste was amazing, myself and friends all had different mains I had the lamb shank, and no one was disappointed, lovely presentation and very tasty. Will definitely go back.

I wanted to visit this restaurant for a while now, because it has Mediterranean dishes which I love. They didn`t have what I was dreaming of BUT their food and the way it was presented was exquisite (and tasty :)). It is a place of fine dinning, very intimate and warm.

Visiting family over half term so we managed 2 more visits to our favourite restaurant in Exmouth. We always try to order something different and with new dishes on the specials menu, were not disappointed. Husband couldn’t get enough of the Chicken in lemon and parmesan sauce, Chicken souvlaki skewer is amazing. Lisa is always so welcoming and the service is fantastic. Many thanks again for always making our visits so enjoyable.

We called in on the off chance and were provided with a table for a short period, which suited us. The menu was interesting and we decided to have breads to start and the paella for main course. The staff were very helpful and although we were on a time, we did not feel rushed. We were advised to reserve for a Saturday but most other nights, reservations were not required.

My husband and I decided to try the Olive Lounge last night (Friday). We had not made a booking and were welcomed by Lisa who let us choose where we wanted to sit. All I can say is that everything was perfect. We didn't feel rushed when we couldn't decide what to eat off the menu as everything sounded so nice. What we did choose was delicious just a shame we couldn't fit in a pudding! Would definitely recommend and we're already looking forward to our next visit. Well done!!

I was recommended this restaurant by a friend of mine who regularly dines out in Exmouth,He's tried them all.It was our 43rd (i think) wedding anniversary so we decided to give the Olive Lounge a spin and so glad we did.Lisa works the front of house while her husband Mal dishes up the magic at the back.Plenty of choice on the menu whatever your taste.My wife's starter was creamy garlic mushrooms topped with mozzarella and crusty bread. Despite being a very discerning soul and very hard to please, immediately gave it a 10/10. As a main she plumped for the cod in a herb sauce,complimented by potato dauphins ,roasted vegetables plus a most scrumptious souffle of carrot and cheese.She said it was one of the tastiest meals she had ever eaten and equal to the cuisine served at the "Jack in the Green"pub/restaurant in Exeter (the best eatery in the south west in our opinion).Lebanese Beef shawarma flatbread with melted mozzarella and tzatziki was my starter followed by a grilled sirloin peppered steak with a creamy peppercorn sauce.Both were mouthwatering delicious.At the time of writing the " Olive Lounge" is, according to trip advisor the 23rd best restaurant in Exmouth....if that is the case then the other 22 must all have Michelin stars to their name.If looking for somewhere to eat in Exmouth and like my wife have a discerning palate but enjoy superbly cooked food at very reasonable prices then look no further than the "Olive Lounge". It is an experience which i can guarantee you will enjoy.P.S. The couple of scathing reviews on this review list should be ignored.The people who wrote them must have had some kind of hidden agenda.I wish Lisa and Mal all the best in the future.We will be returning soon.

Very varied menu. Food excellent , friendly unobtrusive service . The tables are a bit close together so a bit noisy when they are busy.

Having eaten here before, we knew we were in for a treat. Friendly, efficient service, and once more, the menu provided such choice - and our meals again were delicious.

My partner and I always try to support local independent companies and the Olive Tree is just the sort of restaurant we prefer to opt for. We were a party of 5 on a Friday night and did arrive a little late. The restaurant was fully booked and our late arrival plus it being busy, we put down to the reason why it took 15 minutes to be asked for drinks, plus a further 10 for our food order. We were in no rush and when we did order we opted for the sharing platter to start and for me the vegetarian paella. The starter was what you would expect and the little tomatoe, onion and cucumber salad was very good as was the tapenade. Sadly our mains were a little disappointing. The paella wasnt paella. But brown rice in a tomato sauce with very few vegetables. Portion side was very generous but I was really looking forward to paella! My partner opted for the normal paella which was the same rice dish but added chicken and seafood which he said were rubbery. The other members of our party said their food was ok. Perhaps it was just what we chose.I totally understand restaurants like to have their own take on food and perhaps we made the wrong choice. We liked the decor and ambiance.

Visiting Exmouth again after a few years away and came across this little gem. We hadn’t managed to book but a table was found, no problem. Fantastic original menu, spoilt for choice so decided to try things we’d never had before. Not a vegan but intrigued by the vegan meatballs and pasta! Wow! A brilliant choice, so tasty.Will be back as didn’t get the chance to try the clotted cream gin!

We have been coming to the olive lounge since Lisa and Mal opened, Well what can we say....... THE BEST RESTAURANT IN EXMOUTH..... AND TRUST ME WE HAVE BEEN TO THEM ALL...... We have never had a bad experience. Food is absolutely amazing, taste, presentation, service, atmosphere is incredible. so one night when we went in we asked the lovely Lisa if she would open for us in the day for our wedding party as we were getting married on the 5th october 2019. And this is the only place we knew we would get great service and excellent food. we were so happy when Lisa said yes. Lisa decorated our table which looked absolutely amazing. Now the test was the fussy family we were taking with us. food was to Die for we had a mixture for greek salads, steaks,lemon chicken, mussels, flatbread pizzas, paella, seabass. brownies panna cotta, Great wine and bubbles the list goes on.... ALL PLATES EMPTY AND EVERY ONE VERY VERY IMPRESSED. WE CAN'T THANK LISA AND MAL ENOUGH. We knew this was the one thing eating at the olive lounge for our wedding day which we new would run smoothly and we weren't wrong. so if you have taste buds love great food and atmosphere this is the place to eat....Lisa and Mal work so hard and it shows in there restaurant. they really go that extra mile. so don't let anyone tell you any different.
