Oliphant Bakers in West Lothian

I have bought pies and bridies from Oliphants for over 50 years and for the last forty it has been my must stop when back visiting. Having bought as usual the first since covid I am total disgusted with the quality. You should be ashamed to call them Oliphant pies

Take a step back in time and enjoy a real Scottish bakers. A blast from the past, and all the better for it!

Classic Scottish bakers, rolls, bread and cakes are top quality. Go early at the weekend as it sells out quickly. Use them or lose them, local business with local people on staff.

What can I say ,this is one of the best bakers in central Scotland with a mouth watering range . Very difficult to not come away with far more than you can eat .Today it is Crumpets ,Pies, pastries and apple turnovers . If you are in the area look in ,you will not be disappointed

Selling all the old favourites - bread, pancakes, scones, cakes, pies etc and everything I have had has been good

Decided to support this local baker and there is a notice outside the door to say only 2 people allowed in the shop. The shop was empty so we entered. It was a Saturday and a young sales assistant came to serve us and she had no mask on. While we were being served a guy walked in ignoring the notice ( he also had no mask on) a second young sales assistant came out to serve him she also didn’t have a mask on. No Perspex at the till either. We won’t be back.

Cakes are really nice its good to have a bakers as most of shop cakes are not good bakers cakes are better and tasty they do not taste as if they have been made days before would recommend to friends and family prices are reasonable and the staff are very friendly and welcomming

This is a very busy local baker with a superb selection of cakes pastries ,pie and bridies . Our pick today were the excellent Cream filled Meringues .It is very difficult to only buy 2 but we have to make some concessions to the diet

I tried a few different cakes from these bakers and was always let down. One thing in common that all those cakes had: the sponge was extremely dry. So they either don’t know how to bake sponge or the cakes sit there for days on end. I want to believe it’s the former. The staff are friendly enough but I don’t think I’ll be going back any time soon.

The queue at Oliphants is a familiar sight at the weekend! This family bakery sells a very good range of Scottish traybakes and bakery. All freshly made and good value. If you are looking for a savoury or sweet snack then this is worth a visit but go early for the best selection. Peppermint slice and empire biscuits are recommended.

As well as admiring the selection of cakes, pastries etc in the shop, we had the pleasure of sampling their bread when we had a breakfast sandwich in Taste cafe. Our bacon and scrambled egg was served between two thick slices of Oliphant’s crusty bread, and the fact that the bread was very well-fired was an added bonus - it was delicious.

Used to be good Was Gradually going downhill and now just terrible quality and very expensive Shame but staff and product very poor now I don’t see this bakery lasting much longer unless they have a rethink on quality of everything !!!!!!!

Wide selection of ours and cakes plus usual selection of bread and rolls. They also make and decorate special occasion cakes to order.

I always buy my morning rolls from Oliphants they are the best rolls by far. Well enough fired and not too doughy. Steak pies are also good.

Always use the Falkirk store. Staff are always friendly and honest. Food is always fresh and hot. Steak Brodie’s to die for.
