Excellent! You have to try the duck and the Kung Po!

Just excellent. Old style, vibrant, fun, tasty Chinese dishes, with a great and lovely and energetic staff who are friendly and chatty between all their speedy work back and forth. Loved it.

We went for a quick meal and it was unassumingly simple. The waitress was ok. The portion size for chicken was disappointing very small but nice taste

Looked a bit basic inside but the food was really nice. I had beef in ginger and spring onion sauce with egg fried rice and it was amongst the best Chinese influenced food I have eaten. I’ll be coming back for more…

Stevenage is our preferred stop-over on the way to the Channel Ports. There is a good range of eating-out options in the Old Town but having come across this little restaurant on our first visit in 2023, we have returned twice since then because of the high quality of the food, the genuine friendliness of the staff, the excellent service and the general ambience. The restaurant is very popular with locals which is a good sign. It is also very good value. Highly recommended.

Had a great family meal at this restaurant. Doesn’t have much kerbside appeal from outside but food is excellent. Second time for a family meal in as many months highly recommended.

Great food, generous portions and friendly and attentive service. Decor is basic but so what. We ate in but they also do take away. Hot and sour soup to start was delicious as were some spare ribs. Mains of garlic prawns and duck in plum sauce were good and plentiful. Sweet and sour chicken balls were nothing special, but then it never is really. Good size though and the sauce wasn't over-sweet. Some Singapore noodles were also excellent. All in all a very enjoyable meal and a restaurant I'm happy to recommend.

Wonderful place!! Best Chinese in Stevenage, I always order from this place and went to pick up my takeout from them recently. The lady was so lovely! The food was extra tasty and not too oily, I got the chicken chow mein, so lovely! The only negative would be that there was not much chicken in one of my takeouts. Other than that it was delicious and also came with prawn crackers! Thank you so much!

We visited Sunday at 5pm. We had a fabulous meal, the food is amazing. Despite there being a large birthday party of 30 as well, we didn't have to wait long for our food and the staff kept us informed about our meals and looked after us superbly. It was my birthday and they gave me a surprise box of chocolates to celebrate, a lovely gesture. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, best Chinese for miles around and staff fantastic, we shall be back again

The portions where incredibly small for such high prices not to mention very rude and incompetent servers. if you want to keep your money and get full i suggest staying away from here.

I have been to this place twice now and I think it’s really good. The dishes are well presented and tasty. Not overly covered in sauce like some other places. The quality of the meat and fish is good and the service is great. It’s been fairly full with couples and large groups when I’ve been in. Few things I’d like to see on the menu like soft shell crab and kung po prawn (only chicken and beef options) but honestly this place is great. Decent value too. Would go again.

10 of us went for a birthday dinner. We were put on 2 round tables pushed together, which was weird. There were plenty of available rectangular tables that could have been pushed together and there was only one other booking in the restaurant so I'm not sure why they did that. I was on the bit kind of between the 2 tables so I chose 1 but then almost had my back to most people on the other table. We all choose the buffet menu which included 3 starters each, Peking duck or lamb and 2 main dishes each. We could have ordered more dishes, free of charge, but only if we finished all the dishes on the table. The food was amazing, hence the 4 stars even though the table lay out was not the best and the staff were a bit shouty!

By far the best Chinese restaurant in Hertfordshire. Food is served very quickly and is freshly cooked and always nice and hot. The chilli beef is amazing.

Was great service and very freindly but it was a bit basic on the decor and the value for money wasnt great we have eaten at nicer chinese restaurants for alot better value and the food didnt warrant the charge. The duck was very dry n a little tough. The chicken balls were very doughy and werent to keen on our mains. I wouldnt return personally . Might need a refurb/refresh felt very 90s

Got takeaway which was quite good. The people working there were super helpful and the food came out quickly. Reasonably priced, would recommend.

Quality Malay-Chinese with eclectic menu and tasty food. Best of all great service. Not cheap but a refreshing change from wall to wall carbs in the old town

Very loud and echo's when the waitress shout to each other. No longer eat as much as u like. £23 per head for a cheapest set meal. Was very nice. Waitress OK but larger one was rude just pointing where u can sit. People getting take aways sit at tables and we can't work out which tables are free. Kitchen trying to keep up with orders and take away orders so service can be a little slow and chaotic at weekends

Awful experience, ordered food and when I got home is was completely the wrong order which was so disappointing spending so much money on our Sunday Evening supper only to be ruined as most of the dishes ordered did not come. Called to complain and the lady shouted at me that it was my fault. All in all very disappointing and will not be returning again

Lovely vegetarian spring rolls, but all food good. It was very quiet when we visited (5.30 pm on a Tuesday evening) so not much atmosphere. It is probably very different at 8pm on a Saturday evening.

Fantastic place to eat. Reasonable pricing. Super friendly and attentive staff. The food is great, hot and tasty. Would recommend to anyone that wants to go out and eat some east Asian cuisine.

Went on a Tuesday evening. The premises are quite plain, with simple decor and furniture. BUT, food is fantastic,staff are very professional and know the food, in case of any questions. Menu is extensive, should keep everyone happy. Pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Would recommend.

This was our first visit and we were very pleased we came. We had the set menu A for two people which was very reasonably priced and contained a wide range of dishes. All deliciously cooked and hot. Service was outstanding and staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be coming back 😁

Met my friend for lunch Monday been a long while since we have enjoyed such delicous Chinese food the service excellent 2 lovely ladies although we were the only ones in their at the time I booked if was relaxing wd lovexd it ! The appetisers for 2 yum! Yum! The crispy peking duck my favourite lovely we will def be going back thank you for a lovely lunchtime experience 5 star!

Had a meal with friends. Lovely food and lots of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. The large round tables make a meal for more than 4 people so much more enjoyable. Would definitely recommend a meal here.

Great food and great service the food is reasonably priced considering we ordered 5 portions atmosphere probably wasn’t the peak as It wasn’t the busiest hour for the restaurant

The restaurant is never busy at lunchtime, which is a crying shame, but also excellent for us, as we can have a business lunch in the comfort of a quite restaurant. The service is functional, you are not talking a fine dining experience, we are walking staff who know the menu, can advise on allergies, who are effective. It may be that we are there too often, but they remember which of us can and cannot use chop sticks -- that is impressive. The food arrives quickly, it well presented, tastes as good as it looks. We are there once a month, so it must be good.

We dine here fairly often because the food and service is fantastic. Last weekend, though, we held my wife's birthday party in the restaurant. They absolutely outdid themselves! The food was all served together so nobody was left waiting. Portion sizes were the usual more-than-ample servings. Everything was utterly delicious. Service was exemplary as always. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Highly recommended.

Really good food. We had 2 pints of lager a mixed meat soft noodle dish, garlic king prawns and the sizzling lamb. All dishes were great very tasty and it came to £41 all in. Recommended deffo

This used to be called The Dew Drop Inn , then The Waterfall, I suggest it is now more of a muddy puddle. Incredibly over priced, had a takeaway , it was essentially just thrown into a box, incredibly bland, and definitely not freshly cooked .

Visited this restaurant for the first time last month and enjoyed the experience, so visited again last week. Staff are very welcoming and the food was delicious. This is likely to be a regular stop when visiting Stevenage.

As always had a wonderful meal at otc Hadn’t booked a table but were seated anyway but told they needed the table back within 1.5 hours The restaurant was very quickly full so we were very grateful for the opportunity to eat without a booking As always were served by the two lovely ladies who just never stop fantastic service The food is delicious generous portions piping hot and well presented As has happened in the past while ordering was advised that what we had ordered was enough and we didn’t need anymore. And the waitress was absolutely right we had just the right amount of food she could have taken our order for more dishes and taken our money but was honest and sincere in her advice Have enjoyed this restaurant many times in the past mainly the buffet menu which is available though the week and incredible value but the main menu is very comprehensive and also good value too Thank you for a great meal

I would have given zero star if possible. Food was warmed up, watery sauces and not fresh. Not sure what happened to this place because food used to be excellent. I will never be returning here again. Waste of time and money.

Stunning food. Popped in for a meal on my own (working away). Staff were very friendly, the prices reasonable and the food stunning. Will definitely come back when working in Stevenage again in the future.

Good food and service. Not very plush but you can talk to people on the table without being drowned out which is a bonus.

Go here in a regular basis the staff are always lovely good service and food is always excellent Would highly recommend.

Visited for the first time after reading great reviews here. Fantastic little restaurant. Whilst the decor is no-frills, the staff and food more than make up for it. We tried to order too much food and rather than just take our money we were advised to order less, saving us at least £15. There aren't many restaurants that would do that. Would definitely go back.

I have never been to the Old Town Chinese Restaurant and will definitely come back. It's located in the South end of the High Street in Stevenage Old Town and we received a friendly welcome from the staff. They offer a variety of dishes and they also do a £23 per person deal which includes three courses and tea or coffee afterwards. The food was excellent and very tasty and there was just the right amount. the staff were really helpful and we were made to feel very special. Even though it was a Monday night there were plenty of people in the restaurant which to me showed it is good. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

We have been here a few times over the last 10 months, always a good experience. This time we had the set menu, which still offers a nice selection of dishes. The staff remembered that i use chop sticks while by team mates don’t, and that i have coke without ice and they have ice, pretty amazing given the number of people they must see. The food arrived quickly, we week cooked, looked nice and tasted great. Not a lot more to say, good food snd a good price, we will go back!

Best Chinese you will ever eat. Have never found any other better anywhere. Been coming here for over 7 years, nothing comes close. Lovely smiley owner. Not greasy either like other restaurants. Everything is cooked fresh.

When our hotel restaurant closed early before we arrive, we had to look for somewhere else to eat, really glad we found this place, superb food and excellent service start to finish. (the sea bass was beautiful). When work sends us back to old town, we will be calling again thank you

We really enjoyed our food here tonight. I feel an improvement here could be by the staff building a better rapport with customers and maybe more willing to recommend dishes that go well together. Overall an enjoyable experience and look forward to returning. P.s we lived their crispy chilli beef!

We went for dinner to our favourite Chinese restaurant, have been coming here for years, but this was our first eat-in meal there of 2022...we usually drive over for a good takeaway. Yes they’re not cheap, but the quality is always good and the same each time... good for leftovers the next day. The food is good as usual and the girls are happy and friendly. We came this time to have our usual buffet (£17.90) and thought, great they’ve not put up their prices due to their Covid losses, Brexit, etc, unlike a lot of our usual restaurants which we’re boycotting now for this reason! BUT I’m docking one star off as, unbeknown to us, they now charge a service charge which is added to the bill automatically.... and not actually advertised as going to be charged... I did wonder why the man at the next table was not happy and unimpressed... he told them to take off the service charge which shouldn’t be put on the bill in the first place... surely it’s OUR choice to decide if we’re going to tip for service or not?? For this reason, Old Town Chinese, you probably won’t see much of us this year (or probably other loyal customers) eating in from 1 April when the fuel bills increase by over 50%..£50 for a Chinese meal out for 2 with no alcohol is not good (I notice the price of drinks has gone up too and we didn’t even have a good alcoholic drink) 😫

My first visit to this restaurant and to say I was impressed would be an understatement. Although it was New Year’s Eve and the restaurant was packed they managed to get the food out quickly and more importantly kept the drinks flowing. I’m already planning...

Staffs are rude. I don’t know if they don’t wanna welcome black people in their restaurant, my family went there yesterday 26/11/2021. And one of their staff was so rude. We have to come out from the restaurant, because we were supposed to book a table.But the way she spoke to us look like we are not welcome in the restaurant.

A beautiful meal in a beautiful restaurant! The gorgeous decor is the perfect accompaniment to the perfectly executed dishes. The meats were beautifully tender and the sauces were to die for. Service was excellent, both waitresses were absolutely lovely. My new favourite place to eat in Stevenage!
