My husband and I had Afternoon Tea on Saturday 27th July. Absolutely gorgeous. Very fresh. The best we have ever had. The young lady serving was delightful.

We are regular visitors here and always lovely. The food is all homemade and it’s a peaceful setting. We usually call for a light snack or a coffee and cake, but being off work, we pre booked the Christmas lunch. Everything was great .. started with a mulled wine, then turkey and all the trimmings. Couldn’t fit in the dessert, so brought home a couple of cakes for later! Highly recommended. Sunday lunch is worth a visit. Great for plants as well. 👍🎄☕️🍰

A little gem of a café just a short distance from the centre of picturesque Dobcross village, incorporating a small garden centre. Everything home made and cooked to order, the food is delicious. The owners and staff are lovely too. Cosy inside and if the weather is good there’s an outdoor terrace with super views across the valley. As you may gather, I’m a bit of a fan! It’s a fairly small place so it’s a good idea to ring them in advance. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

In a perfect country setting, the food is absolutely spot on, their full breakfasts are superb, best full English I've ever tasted. The desserts are really nice and everything is homemade here. Credit to the chef here. Pleasant and friendly staff all round. Spotlessly clean place. Super coffee on offer too. I will visit here next time I'm in the area, best cafe in the whole of Saddleworth :)

Very tasty! Had scrambled eggs, bacon and granary toast. The eggs were fantastic; light, fluffy and very well cooked. Probably the best scrambled eggs I’ve had in a very long time. Have been on a previous occasion and had a full English breakfast, that was also very tasty and very well cooked. A great place. You should give it a try.

I have visited here 3 times in the past month and it has been lovely each time. Hot and cold homemade food, tea, coffees, hot chocolate, cold drinks and cakes have all been really good and tasty. Lovely setting both in the conservatory and dining room. Pleasant and very accommodating staff, even with a relatively small menu a gluten free lunch was available. Would definitely recommend and we'll definitely be back. (We'll give you advance notice next time if there are a few of us - thanks for fitting 7 of us in!)

Good menu choice to suit varying tastes, very nice helpful staff. Food always good. Only problem sometimes is the opening hours, sometimes turn up and it is closed, a little inconsistent. Nice to sit outside when the weather is ok.

Easy to find and plenty of parking at the side and at the back.2 of our party wanted a full breakfast, which did not appear on the menu, but the chef will cook whatever you want to order. The meals are served quickly, food is hot, and plentiful. The full breakfast was enormous!Staff are friendly. Will visit here again.

Called in one lunchtime and the conservatory area was full so we made our way into the quaint tea room inside the toll house. We had some home made soup, one pea and ham, one mushroom. Bother we’re thick hearty soups served with crusty bread. We then decided to have a scone each with clotted cream and jam, again delicious. This is only a small establishment but there is an outside seating area if the weather is nice and warm, unfortunately on the day we visited it was certainly an inside day.

Visited late morning on yesterday’s sunny Bank Holiday. Places to sit outside but all tables full of pots . Sat down with my dog and waited for the waitress to clear pots and take order .... so I waited and waited and waited . Whilst she came out bringing food and drinks to a couple of tables , she failed to go back in with any and didn’t acknowledge me . Yes it was probably a little busier than usual as a beautiful sunny day, and if she had said she wouldn’t be long I wouldn’t mind . After over 15 mins wait, I gave up and went inside to ask for a bottle of water and said I couldn’t wait any longer . Got my bottle of water but no apology . Been here many times and do like the place , but it seems like they just struggle to cope . Don’t like to write bad reviews but it was very disappointing and I won’t be rushing back

Our first visit to this quaint tea room for breakfast was very nice. The breakfast was well presented and tasty with plenty of everything. However having checked on the internet that it was open before going the next time with a friend from Scotland, we arrived to find it closed for holidays. The next time we went with 2 others friends we arrived to find them closed again having had some kind of issues. Hopefully our next visit will find them open but I think I will ring first and not rely on the internet.

This little tea room is very rustic and not very large but quaint. The menu is fairly small but a nice choice of meals. We had the ploughman's which was just the right size per person. It consists of pork pie, Cheddar cheese, salad, chutney and warm crusty bread. There was a selection of cakes for desert and a good choice of hot and cold drinks. The atmosphere is very relaxed, calm and un-rushed. The car park is round the back but is easily missed if you miss the small tea room sign.Give it a try, I am sure you will enjoy the real fire as well.

Whilst visiting family in the area, my mum and step dad suggested we visit the Old Toll House for lunch. They described it as like having a meal in someone's front room...in a nice way! On arrival, I fell in love with the place immediately! It was a cold day, so we forfeited the outdoor seating with panoramic views and decided to eat inside. We all opted for the cosy 'front room' area rather than the conservatory - which was also nice, and great if you have a dog with you! It felt a little like a tea room, with lots of character and warmth. The staff were lovely, the food was excellent - I had cheese and onion pie which was delicious! - and very good value for money. The owner stopped for a chat with us on the way out, and he also had a small garden/plant sales area with reclamation bits n bobs. I loved it so much that, if I lived in the area, I would definitely come here atleast once a week!If I lived in tthe area, I'd probably come here once a week

Absolutely love this place.. have eaten here several times, the food is delicious (scrambled eggs with ham is gorgeous) and the view fantastic.. we always receive a really warm welcome even though we have our mucky Springer Spaniel in tow (dogs are allowed in the conservatory).. I had a scone with cream and jam the time before last and it was to die for.. the scones are warmed in the oven.. Heaven on a plate.. The coffee is always of a really high standard and very hot (they warm the cups with hot water first). Little touches like that make this place worth coming back to and we will be doing so in the very near future.. thank you

I have been to the garden centre many times and have always had friendly service so I was looking forward to the opening of the cafe. Have been with a friend for coffee and cake a few times and so took the children for a late lunch. The service was friendly and the soup delicious. Our order consisted of all day breakfasts, cheese and onion pies and prawn sandwiches. All were delicious, well presented and good value for money. Coffee was delicious and hot chocolates were well appreciated! The view enhanced the experience and we will be back soon.

We went for lunch midweek and found that we were the only people in the cafe at the start. Parking is on the road not on site - we parked on the side street and went in from the top of the small garden centre - there are quite a few steps without any hand rails and the stone slab stepping stones are raised a few inches above the gravel, making access for those with walking difficulties a challenge. However, we received a warm welcome. The menu is small, which is OK to keep ingredients fresh. It offers the standard cafe fare, which was a bit disappointing. We all ordered different things - a ploughman's, a sandwich with soup and a rarebit plus three hot drinks. The drinks took some time to arrive, a bit of a surprise given the lack of other customers. As a spare pot of hot water didn't come with the tea, we asked for some hot water as the coffee caffetiere was quite strong. This didn't materialise and we asked again when the food was delivered, more than half the coffee having been drunk at this point. We turned the background music down as it was getting in the way of our conversation. The room is freshly decorated and has good views towards Wall Hill if sitting in the conservatory part.Someone else arrived and ordered a bowl of soup. They were served promptly and left before our food arrived. The food, when it did arrive was OK - nice cheese on the ploughman's but the lettuce was a bit limp. The soup was good - you could stand a spoon up in it, being so hearty. The cake selection was limited, so we weren't tempted. All in all, it took well over an hour, just for one drink and one food course. Bill for 3, £23.50. It was OK, but there are better options in Saddleworth.

I had had two recommendations for the Old Toll House within its first week of opening and I now know why! A few days ago I came for afternoon tea with two friends. Although we had arrived late because of traffic problems, we could not have been made more welcome and the afternoon tea was prepared freshly for us. Everything was absolutely delicious and the scones were the best we've ever tasted! The view from our table in the conservatory was lovely. Can't wait to go back!

Discovered the Hidden Garden over a year ago now and it’s one of my favourite places to go. Great coffee (no additional charges for milk alternatives), beautiful views and dog friendly! The little treats they serve your dog are an added bonus (no charge either!) my pooch loves a visit. We have been in all weathers, although most of the seating area is outside there are some wonderful covered nooks to curl up with blankets galore and even a pizza stove burning logs to keep you warm in the winter. The cakes and food are delicious and the additional pop up food stalls they host are brilliant. Highly recommend for a cosy catch up away from the high street bustle.

Stopped to have a glance at the menu as decided on Sunday breakfast out. Chatting away to a chap, the owner I think, made to feel very welcome. Good choice of different dishes, decided on the Rarebit and "A Bit Of Both On Toast", which was lovely cheese and homemade baked beans. Both were delicious and good coffee to boot. And our furry companions loved the fussing and the doggie menu! Planning a return visit soon for Sunday lunch!
