Wanted a local stop with a few better options than the standard pub. Exceptionally nice dining room, wonderful traditional decoration and feel. Coq au Van was well cooked and sauced, veggies ok, nice desert options. Did need a reservation on the weekend, but Monday we just had an empty room for the most part. Good local cider options

I traveled with my friend all the way from Llandudno and we were looking for a nice place to eat. It was truly an unforgettable dining experience - each dish was a masterpiece of flavor, and the service was excellent. Also, they serve the best leek potato soup in the whole world. I travel a lot, but that was truly the best meal I’ve ever had and I’m not even kidding!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at the Old Kings Arms Hotel in Pembroke. My wife loved the ambiance and the gracious host and I loved the excellent steak and Welsh ale pie with vegetables. A large portion and everything was delicious. (She loved the salmon!) I don't know when we will return to Pembroke but if and when we do, we will definitely return to the Old Kings Arms.

A friendly atmosphere and very attentive staff. The Sunday roast was exceptional - the meat was ‘melt in the mouth’ cooked and the vegetables were extremely well cooked, with the addition of superb leeks in a creamy mustard sauce. Desserts were not a disappointment either.

Ate here tonight whilst away on business. Staff were really friendly. I had the Welsh Cawl to start which was lovely. Then I had the steak and ale pie with chips and veg. The butter on the veg had split. The whole main course smelt absolutely vile. To the point where I felt sick. When asked I explained this to the waiter who only said he would tell the chef. No attempt was made to correct it or offer something different. I definitely won’t be going back.

On arrival, it was quite clear that the hotel was quite dated and the room had partly been updated but there are was a foisty, damp-like odour. Conti-board panelling was all around the walls in one half of the room, the bathroom and the corridor outside the room, probably hiding plumbing. Worn conti-board and cheap office-like carpet in the corridors and dark wood doors and furniture everywhere made for a dated look. The food at dinner and breakfast was of a high standard. £140 for room B&B was a high price for a room and hotel of this standard.

Hadn’t booked but they informed us that there was a table for 2 available. Unfortunately it was by the outside door in the main bar.Ordered our food at sat and watched the poor service received by the table behind us with one of the waiters even stating “I have only one pair of hands” whilst waiving them in the air. The waiter/waitresses delivered food to the table and on several occasions passed food in front of people eating rather than walking around and passing through gaps between customers.Whilst to some this may seem minor,in years past this was one of the best eating establishments in Pembroke, it’s standards have certainly slipped. Our dinner arrived, my wife,I have to say thoroughly enjoyed hers. Mine on the other hand wasn’t great, steak not cooked to my request and garlic potatoes were nothing to write home about either, pepper sauce was ok and at £27for what was effectively a bar meal I felt robbed. The wine was good so little consultation! All in all not great, certainly not for the money!! We won’t be back.

Couldn't fault the service. The waitress managed my expectations that my lamb Wellington would be at least 20 mins. I was therefore shocked to see it turn up earlier. The portion size was excellent although a bit more veg would have been good ( I didn't ask for any & I am sure they would have brought some out). The lamb isn't cheap at £20 but was a healthy size. It's so difficult to cook lamb but I would have liked it done a bit less - purely subjective & it certainly wasn't overlooked. The restaurant is quite somber & could really do with an overall - it's not tired - just could be more stimulating environment. Staff were v good. If I came back I'd visit again but it could be so much better

Been here a few times and each time it has got a little bit worse. We booked a table last week n the restaurant, and when we arrived were plonked in the bar because they said they had a large table in? The backs of our legs after this visit were numb and marked due to sinking in the seat and sitting on wood. Ordered roast beef was very disappointed 1very small Yorkshire pudding, 2 very thin slices of beef on plate, a small parsnip 2little roasties and a small blob of mashed potatoes. A very small dish of cabbage and carrots together and another very small dish half filled with creamy leeks, this was for 2people (the bowls were like little finger bowls) so if you have a good appetite be aware, and a very small gravy boat, with thick congealed gravy which was, Luke warm, I suggested to my hubby that it was left overs from the large table. And on saying that 5 people walked in off the street unbooked for a meal and they were turned away as they had no food this was about 2 o’clock. So will not be returning far to much money for too little food. Not cheap ... Tired surroundings,

Four of us had dinner on Wednesday evening, not pre-booked but there was only one other person eating in the restaurant when we arrived. We were greeted at the table by a very nice gentleman who knew a lot about the history of the pub and the area - I'm not sure if he was the maître d'hôtel, the landlord, or the owner. I inquired about buying the beer glass I had (with the name of the Welsh brewery on it) and he went one better and gave me a clean one from the bar - bonus! In due course, we ordered our meals (no starters) and they came in a reasonable time. The beef was a complete plate with potatoes and veggies, the 2 trout dishes came with three small bowls of carrots, mange tout, and new potatoes. The shoulder of lamb came with gravy only. We all assumed the veggies in bowls were for the fish and the lamb would have more delivered. No one came back to ask how the meal was and we finished what was on the table between us. When questioned the waitress offered many apologies as there should have been more veggies. The man came back and again offered apologies and suggested he would remove £4 from the bill. We then ordered dessert and waited 40 minutes for it to arrive. During this time we noticed that other tables were waiting for mains and desserts. When 3 sticky toffee puddings arrived we pointed out that there was only one of them ordered and three different desserts. More apologies. The sticky toffee was finished well before the correct desserts arrived. One of the reasons given for the delays and wrong meals was that they were manically busy, but there were only 3-4 tables in use the whole time we were there. The man came back to us and offered free drinks on the house, but by that time none of us wanted another drink. When it came time to pay there was no reduction on the bill and the man had disappeared completely. We had to speak with a waitress at the bar who eventually knocked £7.50 off the bill. As one of us stated: things do go wrong but it's how you handle it that matters. The food was very good (not excellent), but the service was definitely lacking. If Manuel from Fawlty Towers had appeared at our table I would not have been surprised.

We popped in for a drink while we decided where to eat, the only seats they had were in the restaurant. It was easy to stay for food too. There was a good choice on the menu and the staff were friendly. Everywhere was a bit dark and olde-worldy. Some brighter paint and less old furniture would brighten the place up. The food was OK. But there are no disabled toilets and I had two very elderly people with me. I asked if there were toilets for the ladies to use, but was told no, ladies toilets were upstairs. I went up to see if they could manage to get up there, well the carpet was really old and bare, the toilet was pretty awful. I will not be going there again, it needs money spending on it, I realise it is a listed building, but it needs investment.

We had lunch at The Kings Arms a few days ago. What a lovely place and almost 500 years old too. We enjoyed very good service and amazingly delicious food. We would definitely eat there again when visiting the area. Highly recommended.

Beautiful local food, traditional atmosphere and excellent service. We can vouch for the roast beef and roast lamb. Nicely cooked and a generous serving, simply couldn't fault it !

We chose to eat at the Old Kings Arms. This was our walking groups Christmas meal so quite a large party. We were looked after very well and the food and service were great.

Having stayed here for many weeks must say the choice of food from the menu & specials board is outstanding, the quality is very high, the service & friendliness of the staff cannot be bettered. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for accommodation & food.

Looks like a typical pub but there's a large dining area through the back. Good food and pleasant atmosphere. Service was fine and friendly. I would recommend this place over the hotels/restaurants nearby. Very close to the castle and right on the main street.

The room price is too high for the facilities. Dirty carpets, otherwise clean. The breakfast is meager. No fruits. Welsh breakfast quite dry.

Just had a two night stay, dog allowed Lovely place, clean, well equipped, parking outside of room and nice breakfast. Freindly staff and relaxed vibe. Enjoyed it, and would go back. Wish it had a bar though as pub down the road was closed for a refurb.
