My first time here for 6 years and what a transformation. A bright airy cafe with a friendly welcome. The menu suits any time of day and is well priced. The plate I had was large enough for a hearty breakfast. Now called the Family Café

Hunger pains stirred me from my slumber...falling asleep on the couch the night before while binging Peaky Blinders on Netflix can do that to a man. The characters on that show never seem to eat...only drink and smoke. So you, a fellow breakfast connoisseur like myself, can understand what rumblings that can bring about. Seeking out "traditional English breakfast" near me on Google, Old Dean Cafe popped out as the ONLY all-day breakfast spot, open until 3pm. This was exactly what we needed. As the first official trip advisor reviewer, I have to say that the Old Dean Cafe IS the best breakfast I have had in all of my journeys across the pond thus far. While we both ordered a "build your own breakfast", which was the first time I've been offered this over in the UK, we did varying versions of the traditional. The sausage was juicy and plump, the mushrooms fresh, the bacon savory and the eggs fluffy and light. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. The black coffee was strong and flavorful, the tea just the right cuppa needed for my lady. 5 out of 5 for this review. I hope to return another day with my hearty appetite leading the way.
