Beautiful, traditional country pub idyllic village with incredible food - the roasts were generous and delicious and puddings incredible!! Our huge booking of nearly 20 people went like a dream!

We went for Mother's Day dinner here, and the food and service were amazing. They even gave all the mums daffodils and a little biscuits with happy mothers' Day on. I would definitely recommend 5*.

Highly recommended village pub for Sunday lunch, you won’t be let down. Visited The Old Black Horse Inn today for a family Sunday Lunch, we were greeted at the bar by a very friendly lady who showed us to our table and took our drinks order. Our drinks arrived promptly along with the Sunday lunch menu’s. There was plenty of options for everyone, 3 different meats (Beef, Lamb and pork), 2 veggie options. Being vegetarian there isn’t always two options for Sunday roast. The meal came as described on the menu, lots of meat/wellington, veggies, Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes and plenty of gravy!!! The meal was outstanding, we were all very impressed. My brother saying it was the best beef roast he’d had in a while. Desserts menu was offered upon clearing our plates, with the waitress giving her recommendations. You can tell the dessert are all hand made. We will be visiting again for sure, and I’ll be recommending to friends.

Came here for a Sunday roast and we were not disappointed. We pre-booked and were seated in the snug by the fire. 2 of us ordered the beef and I ordered the wellington. The portions were amazing, plenty of veg and all meats (and vegan Wellington) delicious! Plenty of parking spaces, but can fill up quickly at busy times! Service was a little slow at times, so we went to pay at the bar, but it was a busy Sunday and the food was worth it. Would definitely return!

Lovely food and the staff were very friendly

Great service but very poor Sunday lunch. Carrots chopped so small you couldn't see them. The only other vegetable was boiled cabbage. Cold cheap Iceland type Yorkshire pud, three roast potatoes and two slices of tough beef. The pig in blanket was small and tasteless, the stuffing was tiny, cheap and nasty. Overall, for the money, I felt ripped off. Not returning.

Had a family Xmas get together in the Black Horse. We had an area set aside for us. Food was fab, couldn’t have asked for more from the BH Team. Thank you!

Three people for Sunday lunch. We felt immediately welcome by attentive bar staff who were friendly and helpful. Bar staff alerted waiting staff of our presence and they came to invite us through. We were warned of a likely slight delay in service as it was so busy. Orders taken quickly. We were offered more drinks without needing to alert staff. Delay was perfectly reasonable and worth it as the food was fantastic. Lamb was plentiful and so tender. All vegetables were nicely cooked even the cabbage still had a nice firmness. Apple crumble was amazing - not over sweet and the apples really popped still. Absolutely fantastic service throughout - grown ups who know what they are doing and genuinely care. We will be back soon and I suspect often! Easy parking. Beautiful back drop that looks like it has some very nice walking available. Thank you.

Excellent place! Called in here last night after being let down by another pub, arrived ten minutes before the cut off point for food orders, they catered for 11 of us, lovely fresh cooked food,staff were great, polite and professional, would definitely go here again after after this experience, nice village pub with a good beer garden 👍🏻

Sunday roast lunch - fantastic! This pub has really improved since our last visit a few years ago. Great atmosphere and great food (and very, very nice staff). When the weather's nice, the outside view is georgous across the fields as well.

Attended a reggae night. The food was delicious and fresh. The entertainment was great. Service from the staff highly recommended.

Went for lunch with some friends. Never been there before but was made to feel so welcome I could have been one of the locals. Food was beautiful. Excellent service from all the staff. The whole afternoon was fantastic. Really would recommend this place to everyone.

Really tasty steak pie and fish pie. Tasted home made and delish. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Sensibly priced too. Very pleased.

Sadly diminished, this once fine pub is lacking in many ways. Food on a Saturday was limited to "cheesy chips" . Three beers were not available despite pumps showing on the bar. I can't see the current managers lasting long with this level of service

A good Inn for all ages with children's facilities outside.

Camping 30 minutes walk away so needed a refreshing pint or 3 really nice cheesy chips. Also dog friendly. 🚐😎

Me and my partner stumbled across the old black horse inn following a trip to Rutland Water. Absolutely gorgeous roast dinners were enjoyed! I had the beef and it was delicious. My partner had the chicken. Could have spent the entire afternoon enjoying the pub's lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend

Warm friendly atmosphere helpful staff and lovely food will come again

Booked a table for three today for lunch . Not much of a welcome & told to find our own table. Not difficult as only one other occupied. Very disappointing menus with not very much choice at all . We ordered Lamb & Red Wine Pie with Chips & Veg & Gravy . Warmed up soggy pastry from previous evenings Pie Night . Frozen Chips & frozen peas covered in warmed up Gravy . Deserts on offer were something I cannot remember & Christmas Pudding . Have eaten here on & off over the years as a popular place to meet . Won’t be meeting anyone here again . Had we not been meeting a friend for lunch then I would have made my complaints at the time .

Absolutely Beautiful pub! we had sunday dinner here today, me and my partner said it was the best sunday dinner we've had, such lovely food i cannot rate this enough! the desert was absolutely lovely too! definitely reccomend the chocolate orange cookie if your into terrys chocolate orange! Booking in again this month for my mums birthday. Thankyou so much!

Sunday lunch for six adults and a 2 year-old. Superb. Best I can recall. Very generous portions. They even supplied tub of Golden Syrup with the extra Yorkshire pudding. Then amazing ice creams. Excellent service. Thank you all at the OBH on a very special day for our family.

Beautiful typical English Pub in the countryside

Popped in to this cozy pub to try and get some food. Sadly the kitchen wasn’t open, the brilliant lady behind the bar spoke with the chef who opened the kitchen early and provided us with some excellent food. Lovely atmosphere, lovely warm open fire and dog friendly!

We attended Wednesday Pie Night yesterday. My veggie partner had Cauliflower Cheese pie, one of their new veggie offerings, and I had Lamb and Rosemary, both with chips, though mash, prepared by Amanda's mum, is also available. Both were fab, perfectly cooked cauliflower and 'cheesy' sauce. The Lamb was obviously good quality, really tender, and perfectly enhanced by the right amount of rosemary. Side veg was again perfectly cooked and the chips were lovely and crisp. Great value too at £12 which, includes a pint! Highly recommended, already booked for next week!

It seems popular with the locals and for functions. They've made an effort with the back garden. The fascinating and highly accessible French sport of boules is played here

The pub is really lovely and the staff are super polite and friendly. However, the food we had was below average. The 'poutine' had little to no cheese and so was essentially chips and gravy and the baguettes were poor quality with scant fillings and limp, wilted salad.

An absolute darling little pub with great beer garden, lots to explore for the little ones. Decor is very nice, not overly stuffed with bric-a-brac and every wall and corner has something to look at. Food, the chilli chips and cheese and red onion chutney sandwich, are portioned well. The chilli and the onion chutney made in house, fresh.

Recently taken over by some fantastic owners who have injected a true country family pub feeling into the place! The menu is fantastic and offers the classic fayre of traditional food as well as common favourites. They have a huge garden with child play areas and a comfortable interior with a well sized restaurant. Recommended for both family and walkers who would like a true experience of a country pub.

It was very busy when we first went in. Lots of people having meals. Bustling . Obviously a very popular place. It is our local and a bit unhappy that the landlord is leaving at the end of june. We will be sorry to see them go. New landlords now. Went in yesterday. No food yet but looking forward to a meal. Hope all goes well.

No wine menu, poor selection & food quality really disappointed

Excellent Sunday roast with really welcoming staff. Came here as a walk in and we will certainly be booking back in. The food was cooked so well. My husband had beef and I had pork and both had amazing flavour. The roast potatoes did not disappoint either, best I've had with a meal out. The cheese cake is homemade and was a delight to finish the meal off. Overall an excellent experience.

Nice pub in the outskirts of Leicester which offers a large garden area to enjoy your drinks and meal in the sun as well as a large area inside. The pub also has it's own car park which is helpful. Be mindful that if you do decide to sit outside, there is a slightly limited menu available compared to their inside menu (limited to their pub classics and a few other stuff). Overall, the options of drinks were good for beers on tap, and also their food options are what you would expect - decently priced and we'll portioned. Their staff were friendly and helpful when we couldn't decide what to eat, giving us suggestions of their favourite dishes, which was helpful. Would recommend if you're passing the area or just fancy a nice pub with a lot of open space to enjoy your drinks in the sun.

Due of the conditions we face from day to day they have arranged the perfect solution. Drink, Eat and be Merry. Save environment for families and friends. STAY SAFE.

We sat in the garden and had a drink and a pizza from the mobile pizza oven. The garden overlooks fields with sheep and lambs and horses. Outdoor lighting was lovely, plenty of tables all well spaced out.

We asked the Old Black Horse Inn if they would provide us with a work Christmas Lunch and they gave us two very festive options; Turkey roast or a festive afternoon tea. We ordered a number of each and they delivered it on time and the food was loved all round! Thanks for providing a great lunch, from all at M W Vehicle Contracts.

Friendly and welcoming staff in a nice relaxed atmosphere, great place to take kids with the outside area and animals. Perfect in the summer and they do excellent food!

Me and my wife had lunch there and it was really good. There was absolutely nothing you could fault about the meal. Everything was perfectly cooked. We had Scallops which we shared to start then she had lamb shoulder and I had Fish, which was the catch of the day. 5 Stars for sure. If I were to try to find something negative it would be that the temperature inside was a bit cooler than I expected. I had on jeans, t shirt and a jumper but was tempted to put my coat on. But hey, maybe the recent temp drop caught them out, who knows. But that's me trying to find something negative out of what was pretty much perfect.

Really good pub, sat in the beer garden with table service by using the qr code so no going to the bar and felt very safe. Had a excellent pint of Tiger!

Really nice pub after a long walk, in a lovely little village. The food was really nice, we had burgers and they were great. The place is really clean and well presented and the lady that served us was very friendly and helpful. Hope to go back soon on one of my next walks.

Went there to watch their fireworks, nice night very busy hard to get served at the bar outside hard to get to the bar inside because of a group of people people insisted on sitting at the bar making it far more crowded than it should have been, there were empty tables in there away from the bar but were not there used
