Ocean Chinese Takeaway in Stoke-on-Trent

We had a takeaway from here last night the food was horrible, we had beef fried rice which was disgusting, curry sauce was tasteless and looked like dish water ,beef and blackbean sauce was even worse bland dry and the meat was just fatty we have been up most of the night with bad stomach pains stay away from this place because it isn't cheap and the food quality has gone downhill I don't post many reviews but I,d thought i would share our experience but like I've said prices are going up but quality is coming down😡

I have been visiting here for atleast 10 years, and I have never had a bad meal. I don't bother trying anywhere new because it's just so nice. I highly recommend the BBQ pork ribs

First time ordering from here and it was really good. We definitely will be returning and highly recommend. You get big portions and the food is fresh and good quality.

Second order from here after the 1st was delicious..I wasn't disappointed.. absolutely delicious 2nd order...staff are also friendly..Will definitely be using again

Absolutely PENG. Ordered the Ocean Appetiser, singapore chow mein and special fried rice for my first ever order and was massively impressed. I haven't even had the chow mein and rice yet but 5* already.

This has to be one of the best chinese take aways around, food is always spot on never had a bad order, and the friendliness of staff us unreal

Eric at Ocean once again provided food and delivery to my care home for Mother’s Day . the food was excellent and the residents really enjoyed it Thank you once again for your generosity it’s much appreciated.

I've just had my first meal from here and I was extremely pleased with the food. It was nice and hot, but most of all, it was absolutely delicious. I will be telling my family and friends to try here and I will definitely be having my Chinese food from here in the future.

Nice and friendly staff. Quick service. Foods are authentic Chinese dishes and very delicious. I have ordered salt and pepper squids and fried noodles with sprouts this evening and very satisfied with the quality of the foods.

Can't comment on the food as it never arrived! Why do you even bother answering your phone to take an order if your not going to fulfil it?

Food was really bland and greasy. Chicken chow mein, the chicken had been boiled so horrible texture. First time ordering and will be the last 🤢

Staff polite when ordering was told it would be delivered in 45 mins it arrived after 30 mins the food was teasty and hot delivery lady was very polite 1st time we have been to Ocean Chinese but will be using them in the future

Been buying take outs for a while now,All very very good only observation is that you should put the name of the dish on your photo menu this would go a long way in helping us to decide what meal we want to order!

Thank you for taking my poorly daughter some chicken soup this evening, we live miles away, and I just wanted to send her something to make her better. Thank you for being so undertsanding and for a great service, your food is epic by the way. And to everyone reading this, chicken soup is good for colds and flu and Covid!

I have tried a few Chinese takeaways around the area but always use Ocean now, the food is always spot on and the portions are a good size, staff are friendly and delivery is always quick, i would recommend them to anyone wanting chinese food.

Really good food here the owner is really nice always comes out to have a chat when I am in its a really nice touch. Food is so nice here

Had a takeaway from here tonight. It was amazing. Hands down the best Chinese I’ve had. The salt & pepper chicken starter is out of this world. The service was fantastic I highly recommend this place. Why bother going anywhere else when you can go here, you won’t be disappointed

Ordered a portion of chips chicken ball and curry sauce . Menu stated it was £5.80 only to find out I was charged £10.80 for a totally different portion size which I did not ask for . . Won’t be using them again

Very tasty, not overly salty. Never had a bad meal however do have a habit of forgetting items so always have to double check the order. If it’s not drinks that they have forgotten it’s the mains.

Just wanted to say best Chinese in Stoke-on-Trent! The staff are always so lovely, fast delivery and the food is fantastic! Best prawn toast and curry around :)

Food was very greasy, chips and chicken balls were very dark which tells me he needs to change his oil and my beef was like a rubber band. Also the egg in my rice was green. Very poor. X2 bite and threw away. £5 more expensive than my usual place. Very disappointed

First time using this takeaway. Staff were pleasant when I placed the order which was quickly prepared for me, it was a Tuesday evening so would expect more of a wait on busier evening. Food was very tasty and plenty of it. I look forward to trying more items off the menu.

Waiting for 3,5 hours for my order. I've already called them for 3 times and heard the same answer that my order is already out for delivery. Well, I live less than a mile away from this Chinese. Did they send it with the snail? I am really disappointed and annoyed as I got very hungry and it's already 22.00 . A bit too late for the tea. But my order still isn't delivered. So, for how long should I wait for? I used this Chinese quate a few times,but I think this time is the very last one. Yes, after all waiting time the meal has never been delivered at all, didn't get any apologize either. So, it was really my very last order from this place.

Have used this take away 3 times now, whilst the food has been lovely, couple of things to bear in mind …….1st visit, we waited well over an hour than the stipulated time🥺 but food was lovely, 2nd time we ordered the same chicken curry as first time, yet it was totally different. Tonight, I ordered Thai Chicken curry, but got chicken, pork and prawn 🤷‍♀️ Now I love fish so happy with the prawn, but I don’t really like pork 😏, guys get your act together as you will lose custom for your mistakes 😞

After the closure of our usual chinese we were hesitant to try somewhere new but wow we are glad we tried this place. The young lady who served me at the till was lovely and the food was fantastic. We will go as far as to say that its the best chinese we have ever had. Definitely value for money. We will definitely be using this as our go to chinese from now on.

Lovely customer service we stopped by on the way back from Alton Towers. Was really friendly and gave us free drinks and three bags of prawn crackers. Will probably make this a regular stop on our way home now 👍🏻

I had a take away on 15 th I had crispy beef and chicken noodles and veg spring roll Why have I not used this takeaway before I ask myself …..as the food was excellent hot, fresh , and great portion size it was so tasty thank you for delivering it to the upper house hotel and I like to say the guy that brought it to us was so polite Paul Head chef Upper house

Just had my first experience with this Chinese. Decided to test a few things of the menu as we have been looking for a good Chinese in the area. I have to say this place hit it out of the park. From the service on the phone and the delivery time. It was amazing, the food came piping hot and everything tasted awesome. We could actually see that each dish was prepared independently due to the way the veg was actually mixed in properly with the food. Not just layer on top like some places. Good size portions and great value. Will definitely be trying more from this place in the future. Keep up the good work guys. Thanks for a great meal.

The only Chinese takeaway I use. The sff are polite and efficient and food is delicious. If there is anything wrong (very rare), the Manger will put right without haste.

Now I am not a fan of Chinese, I would say it is my least favourite take away. My husband loves Chinese and I always moan as I’ve have never found one that I like...... That is until now!! Honestly the food we have had from here has been amazing. Salt and pepper chips are the best I have ever had, and so are the vegetable spring rolls. The Chow mien is up there. Beef curry is so yummy and perfect egg fried rice. We always collect as we are to inpatient to wait for delivery, but the food is normally ready in about 30-40 minutes. Honestly give them ago, you will not be disappointed.

Simply excellent, hot and fresh food delivered everytime. Special chow mein and Singapore curry are particularly good. Never had a bad meal. If they're late with delivery we speak to them politely. They usually offer a % discount on our next order.

Great food with a wide range of choice, friendly staff and drivers. Does take a while for delivery especially in peak times but worth the wait. Best Chinese I've had for a while.

I had the hoisin shredded duck as I always do. It was fatty and flavourless. It was also covered in these white bits you can see in the photo, which I’ve *never* seen before. Apparently it’s cartilage... I’m guessing pretty cheap meat. The hoi sin wasn’t great either. Chips are decent though.

My partner and I are first time customers here and I have to compliment all of the staff for exemplary service from start to finish. Phoned order through and the lady who dealt with it was polite and efficient. The delivery was prompt and the driver was really pleasant and polite. The food was piping hot and tasted delicious. The best we have had from our many years of takeaway food. So well done all and we will see you all soon again when we place another order.

Wow new go to Chinese. Great quality, service and delivery. Order delivery Trentham, local Chinese shut due to Covid-19. Neighbours recommended, quite a wait on Saturday night with realistic time given but we'll worth it. Well done Ocean!

One of the worst Chinese’s I have had. Chips were drenched in salt. so salty couldn’t eat them. All dishes tasted the same very bland Same sauces used for dishes. Not sure if the chicken was actually chicken or rubber. Avoid!!!!!

A fantastic set meal for 4. Absolutely gorgeous food and wonderful customer service, a very nice young man insisted on carrying the food to my car which was very much appreciated. This was the first time I had ordered from them as my usual takeaway was closed but it will definitely now be my go to place. Thank you.

Chicken chow main was too greasy could not eat it and the chips tasted like you tipped a whole bottle of salt on. Singapore chow main hardly had any meat in. Long grey hair in the prawn crackers.

first time we have ordered and it was excellent. we used their website to place our order and it was really easy, we even left notes how we wanted some of the food to come too, like no sauce on one of the items. A lovely man from the takeaway rang to confirm our order and to make sure they got our requests right, this was a nice touch. The food was excellent and we will definitely be ordering from here again.

Pleasant staff when rang up for order food was piping hot when it arrived they were plenty big enough portions and very tasty.. wasn’t much for the Thai fish cakes as not what I expected but other than that a all round good meal will definitely order from here again 😊

My daughter received an Ocean leaflet few days ago. It’s new opened and I decided to have a try. So, I had an Ocean special chow mien, chicken curry and some starters as well last night. That was fabulous, the foods tasted really nice, hot and fast delivery👍 My kids really enjoyed the foods so much. I will absolutely repurchases and come back again！ It’s worth for 5stars!
