Ocean in East Lindsey

Popped in yesterday lunchtime for haddock and chips which were cooked fresh. The chips were spot on, the fish was delicious and cooked perfectly and the batter was light and crisp. Yeah I'll definitely be dropping in again

I agree with another user on here we had a fish and chip meal this week… fish was disgusting stunk to high heaven. I should have called up myself and complained but not that friendly in shop!!! Please don’t bother going. Even monthy has gone down hill but I have to say it’s better then here I wish I could do no stars but I can’t so had to do a one star

Service is horrendous, the staff are extremely rude and refused to accept liability for selling rotten fish. If I could give it 0 stars I would.

Shocking! Possibly the worst chips in the uk. Gravey was like dish water with no taste, plain sausage was very poor quality No redeeming features, AVOID.

Wife brought me fish chips peas home tonight absolutely stunk gone off green/yellow when pulled it open on one end had to chuck it all in bin, called to tell them was offered another but no saying it wasn’t the same as sane batch they fried . No offer of refund sorry nothing avoid them & I’m local .

Looks pretty grubby inside. Tape on the walls holding cables down and microwave door looked like it was hanging off. Staff weren’t very welcoming. Ordered large chips but when we opened it up it looked like a child’s portion. The fish was chewy. Never again.

One of the better fish and chips around, come here often and always hot quality food. Portions could be bigger as with most places but overall top 💯

Great well established chippy right in the heart of the town . The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The wait was a while perhaps 10-15 mins but all food cooked fresh , but not so good of your in a hurry.parking can be an issue but there is parking opposite on the co op. Nice chippy fix , prices average for chips by the sea.

Really nice fish and chippy. Quick service and polite staff. Nice seating outside so you can sit with your dog too!

Payed £7.50 for 3 bags of small chips which was equivalent to one large bag in my home town. Never again wouldnt recommend

This is our go to restaurant when we visit Mablethorpe. We always eat in as it's nice and cosy and the staff are very nice and friendly and make you welcome. It is all table service if you eat in, so this is nice. There is a toilet for eat in customers. A few good deals on the menu and a good choice on the kids menu too and good portion sizes. The food is great. Overall it's a great place and would highly recommend it.

Last year we had lovely fish and chips. This year we went and they were burnt and the fish was dry and very fish(usually a sign that fish is not fresh) sorry won’t be back and can’t recommend. We had to wait for them to cook our food also so no excuse for it being burnt. £25 thrown in the bin

We used to come here regularly - good portion sizes for good prices. We went tonight though and I wasn't surprised when we saw prices had been put up, but I was shocked when I saw how drastically they've reduced the portion sizes. A £3.20 large portion wasn't enough to fill up myself and my 5yr old goddaughter. We went and purchased a £2.20 regular portion from Salty's which turned out to be the same size as the large from Ocean. Won't be returning here.

"fresh grimsby fish". The fish was absolutely shocking bad. Not only was it over cooked, but it had a sour taste. Was no where near fresh, was pretty much on the turn. When I mentioned it to the staff they looked pretty shocked.

Ocean chip shop in mablethorpe is one of the best seaside chippies to go to. Chips were exactly what you would and should expect from a traditional seaside chip shop. The staff which i assume were mother and son were very welcoming, friendly, up for a laugh and both were very interactive with our children. I would highly recommend this chip shop over the likes of others actually based on the seafront, no comparison what so ever, will definitely be going again.

Came here last week & was not disappointed. Chips were lovely & better than Other chip shops on the seafront. Lovely friendly staff. Great prices too. Would definitely visit again!

Food was good from the location can't knock, found staff not to be the friendliest but not the worse.

We ate here on our recent visit to the area my partner had the Yorkshire fish cake and I had the haddock and chips both excellent and the service second to none

Food was lovely fresh and very tasty but customer service was awful 3 members of staff and not a please or thank you, neither was there a smile amongst them. Is that a requirement of the job, to have bad attitude? I think not, if smiling to paying customers is such a hardship please pick a diffent job!

Out with my Elderly parents popped in here for a spot of lunch....Probably the worst chippy ive eaten at !!! ....In fact no its the worst chippy ive eaten at !!!! Chips were vile hard n crispy and the fish 80% of it had this brown tinge to it .....Disgusting !!!! And at £9.99 a pop shame on you !!!

Wasn't great. Chips were not very well cooked and the potatoes were black leading to lots of bad chips. Prob size want great either.

If you do go to the ocean fish bar use day times nice fresh chips with a bit of a peppery taste and you can't go wrong with battered sausage ...but never go in the evening for fish n chips SHOCKING! over cooked battered minnow (haddock) and the limpest untasty chips twice i've chanced this NEVER AGAIN!

Friendly staff, fish cooked to order as is anything you want batter on. It was nice enough, fairly average chippy with no complaints but nothing to sing praises about either.

We don’t normally use this chippy, only used it tonight because my mother in law wanted scallops and we can’t get them at our regular chippy.....sorry to say we will never use it again, horrible manky chips that ended up in the bin, dry fish, the only thing I did enjoy were the scraps.....

just had large cod and cone of chips . asked for fish to be lightly battered it was perfect best ive had in years for me and my wife the best in mablethorpe .

Quite possibly the worst chippy I've ever eaten from. Ordered 2 cod and chips, the cod is NOT fresh, ordered chicken nugget baby meal, they warmed the nuggets in microwave before frying them, for a start it's not acceptable to microwave chicken, did not feed these to my child, the staff are rank and miserable, did not crack a smile while I was in there!! Would avoid at all costs.

Their Yorkshire fishcakes are superb, good as any you can get in Yorkshire. Friendly staff and freshly cooked food.

Lovely fresh fish, pineapple fritter cooked to order and large portions of chips.

Frequently awful chips. You would think that the chips would be cooked fresh while you wait for fish but no. It is not just once or twice but most times that the chips seem to be in the range far too long. The picture tells it all and to top it all the pies are just microwaved.

Not a bad fish and chip shop don't buy Pukka Pies here anymore because they microwave them and the pastry is soggy but fish and chips battered sausages and the rest are fine staff are very friendly

Food was average at best . The prices , well I think we all know we get robbed when we go to the coast we expect that , but the rudeness from the staff no one should have to tolerate. If the kids were not there my Mrs and her niece would of tag teamed the old hag behind the counter without a doubt.

Staff were lovely and polite. Food arrived quick as I ate inside. The fish however, was very oily and the taste is still lingering in my mouth several hours later. My partner had chicken nuggets and chips, which she commented was very nice. Would eat here again, but my personal preference, would for me to not eat the fish.

Fish and chips beautiful but spoilt by the service. So rude. Admittedly they was busy but this shouldn't change the service. With the weather being so lovely we decided to have our food on the beach so asked for our order wrapped on trays. Not a difficult ask but when I asked for salt and vinegar on them she slammed our order on the counter. I had to remind her we asked for a carton of peas to which she huffed and gave me the carton with peas running down the sides. On spending near £20 they won't get my custom again

Excellent food and service. We visited with my 5 and 2 year old. We both had the fish and chip meal deal and it was delicious. The kids meals are ideal up to the age of 10 years old and our waitress was so helpful when we asked if we could share a kids meal between our two. There were no issues and she even served our youngests up first to allow it to cool down slightly before serving to us all. Excellent food and staff were really friendly and helpful.

With any Fish n Chip shop next to the sea you expect the fish n chips to be at least half decent... hold that thought. This was the worst I’ve ever had! Quite how you get it so wrong is beyond me. Fish swimming in oil. Awful batter. The chips were awful too. Bland tasteless peas. Coffee that best resembled dish water. All for the bargain price of £7.55. If there is anywhere else open I’d seriously go there and give this place a wide birth! Won’t be back!

A nice size fish staff are friendly

Took family for tea, just three of us. One of us had 2 fishcakes with chips. 1 portion of cheese on chips and 1 children's menu. Costing £12.60 in total. We were disgusted at the whole experience. Complained of children's menu with sausage. Woman serving I asked her to remove sausage, to replace it . She picked it up and threw it across man frying . Went outside with them. Stood next to a smelling, stinking drain pipe with mess. Never to return. Poor , poor service, experience. Shall stay well away.

Spent £8.90 on the worst fish and chips meal ever. Batter hard brunt grease fish, brunt dry chips with black bits.how hard is it to fry chips and fish. The only part of the ocean it should be is at the bottom of it.

Loads of seating, good fish & chips. Lovely staff. Much better than salty's down the road.

Chips dark brown with black flecks all over. Waitress looked peed off. My mate's fish was nice he said, but my burger was pretty cheap and nasty. The taste was better than how it looked to be fair. It was cheapish we sat in. Wouldn't rush back.

The new younger bearded gentlemen made my visit. Good food, good price.

I call this place the burnt offering shop. When something is brown it's done when it's black it's a bin job One word AWFUL.
