We’ve been coming here for years as my son loves the gyoza and I love the fact it is always so chilled and quiet. I usually get sushi which is good quality, fresh and reasonably priced. Have generally avoided the hot meals in the past but today I decided to try the ramen. Oh my gosh, this is a total game changer! It’s made to order, hot, and extremely satisfying and delicious. We did have to wait a little as they had several orders for ramen - now I understand why! What a way to up your game Nudo! Will definitely be back.

We wanted somewhere slightly off the beaten track as Durham was very busy hosting the Brass Festival. So we walked over Framwelgate Bridge into a quieter area and found Nudo. We both had a Bao bun (£4) after the lady behind the counter explained what one was by showing how she made one. We had pork char siu and aromatic duck, both with teriyaki sauce. The bun part is steamed bread and is very light. The buns were delicious. The only fault we found was that the bun is served in a small box even if you opt to eat inside and you get no cutlery (not needed with the bun) and no serviettes despite the sauce being very sticky. However the wc was available to wash hands when finished. It's more like a cafe than a restaurant. We would definitely eat here again.

staff are nice an friendly. some of the food is really good, such as the onigiri and sushi, but I tried the hot yakisoba meal yesterday because it was half price and the food was very dry, no dipping sauce for the dumplings, tasty was okay, a little on the bland side. was an okay meal for around 4 quid but would never purchase it at full price. I do like that there's a lot of half price food if you go fairly late in the day. In terms of atmosphere, I've literally only seen a max of 3 tables of people when I've been in, usually it's almost empty. overall it's okay if you need a quick meal late afternoon / early evening.

They either forget the tapioca, forget the brown sugar in the tea , take ages to serve cause they’re talking says they’re open at 10 went at half past and doors were still locked. Utepia is the place for me now. Dumplings r good but very inconsistent with their orders

Food was okay - noodles were bland, miso broth had no flavour at all. Pork was good, chicken was alright. The choices here are really good and some of the food is great but I’ve visited on a few occasions and there have been multiple letdowns. The price of the food is pretty high, especially as it is pre-made and hot food is just warmed up in the microwave. However, some of the items are definitely worth the prices they are sold at due to ingredients and portion sizes. Unfortunately, the last few times I’ve been, my food has been really fatty and whenever I’ve had meat, about half of it is just fat. For the price, it’s really disappointing and honestly not worth going. There’s a few authentic asian places up North Road that do much more affordable, authentic, fresh and enjoyable food.

We came here at around 11am when it opened, now before I start I just want to say that the staff is very lovely and welcoming, however there's a couple of issues, the food options were very limited, I'd say 80% of things were not available, this might have been because we were there so early but that begs the question, how can you open if you don't have so many things available? The next issue was the food, I got myself sushi while my partner had chicken katsu curry, now the katsu curry was very nice however, the sushi I had was possibly the worst sushi I've had in my life and I'm pretty sure was the reason why I felt ill an hour later, it was tasteless and freezing cold, I love sushi and I can honestly say I had better tasting sushi from a supermarket, I cursed myself for eating it later in the day as I've felt absolutely sick and ended up sleeping most of the day because of how bad it was. We also found the limited range of bubble teas disappointing, the flavours were all things that you'd have to come to like 1st, It would've been great if there was a normal range of teas like chai and oolong for people that don't like weird tastes. So, if you like warm foods, defo get some here, great price and tasty, but sushi? You're better off buying some in Tesco.

They are back to normal hours 10-20:00 Mon-Sat, 11-17:00 Sun. I chose sashimi, The Mrs chose a salmon set and we had prawn crackers as accompaniments with passion fruit and mango ice cream as desert. I would rather eat at an Nudo than Starbucks but the latter is much more popular in Durham. Why? Because you can’t sit and work in Nudo as the lifting is so dark and it has the atmosphere of a failing place. Just a few more bright lights and make it so people can grab a healthy lunch and do a bit of work on laptops etc would make it less empty and depressing.

Absolutely love this place and visit it for lunch whenever I'm visiting Durham. I usually take food back for lunch the next day too; just check the use-by dates on the back of the boxes to see what lasts an extra day. They have a range of hot and cold food, from ramen to katsu curry, miso soup and a huge selection of freshly prepared sushi 'bento' boxes. The medium sushi boxes are about £5 and the larger ones are £7 - £8 roughly. Cheaper if you take-out, but it's a nice atmosphere to sit and eat your food in the cafe too so I usually do that. They also have a small range of Japanese desserts (e.g. anko cakes) and drinks (e.g. tapioca, green tea, grape soda, etc.). These take-out boxes look reasonably authentic however the taste is far from it (and we should know having recently returned from 2 weeks in Japan). The main issue is that everything is far too sweet. I know sushi is rice with some rice vinegar, but these were sweetened so much it was like a dessert! The dipping sauce for the gyozas was just BBQ sauce watered down (something we didn't see whilst over there!). I know this kind of food isn't ever going to be as good as in Japan, but I've had better (and a low cheaper) in the UK from supermarkets.

Took us a long time to try this place, which is surprising since we really like Japanese food. Somehow didn't notice it, even though it's quite big. We have now eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. First thing to note is that the restaurant itself is spotlessly clean. Nice bright open space with large windows. Food is pre prepared and you choose from refrigerated shelfs and take to counter. Any food requiring heating is brought to your table. It's not plated up, as expected in a fast food restaurant, but everything we have tried has been delicious. Good choice of drinks, especially smoothies and ice teas. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Also very handy for takeaway, nice in the summer if you want to have lunch next to the river. We will defiantly be going back.
