Awesome little bar on the Ormeau with great selection of beers and food! Thriving mid-week games nights draw a more mature regular crowd upstairs while tasty pints coupled with warm conversation downstairs makes it hard to beat and fairly unique. Barstaff very friendly and welcoming. Seems to be going from strength to strength, fast becoming trendy and growing in popularity, even spotted a local politician last week! Fun and Different, draws a wide crowd, definately for the beer enthusiasts and conversation lovers

Northern Lights is a brilliant bar with great staff, particularly love bingo and quizzes with Aidan which are great craic!

Food was good but large portions. Staff were initially friendly and happy to serve. However, one member of staff had a foul attitude when serving, slamming the card machine when I said I owed more money for past orders. Attitude like that would make me not want to go back.

Always a great atmosphere upon arrival with a relaxed, comfortable vibe. Kid and dog friendly bar. Excellent food overall. Beer options are terrific. Food and drink reasonably priced. Wine, cocktails, and non alcoholic drinks are available too. Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and work so well as a team.

I used to really like this place, a lot. But more recently I go here less and less. One annoying issue is they seek Guinness but never have it, it’s very odd. They also are doing less interesting stuff with their beers, less double IPAs and general variety, and this used to be their USP. Food now is also very expensive. £20+ for chicken and chips for example. Vegetarian options really poor too for bar bites. It’s unfortunate that things are clearly slipping. Hopefully they can get back k to where they used to be.

Use to be a good bar full of plesent staff and excellent beer, recently it's just full of very rude staff. Only good part was when we left. The only reason I didn't leave a 1 star is my food was alright.

I'm not into craft beers but I had a lovely Belgain ale produced by Ormeau Brewery which was very tasty...and I understood they didn't serve Arthur's Guinness but someone told me afterwards that they do serve Arthur's Guinness so I will have to try that next time I'm in.

There are some really good beers here and the cost is probably fair for what you get.

Pretty decent food and service, relaxed atmosphere, but you're really here for the craft beer 🍻 - which was lovely.... If I was visiting longer I'd be here regularly

A Galway bay pub, situated a fair way out of the centre (easy to reach via bus though, No.6c or any 7). Big range of Galway Bay beers and guests (UK and Irish). it's a big old place, sort of converted industrial style, which you'll either like or not, I quite like it. Definitely one of the best beer ranges in town, although there's not much else round here craft beer wise with the Errigle being the other obvious choice.

Great food and bar service tonight from the Northern Lights team, and in particular Aidan was fantastic - very friendly and provided exceptional customer service. We are also big fan of his quizzes!

Absolutely fabulous place for food and drinks on Ormeau Road, and the prices are really reasonable too! My friends and I were going to Ormeau Park for a concert last night and wanted dinner before heading to the gig. We went to Northern Lights and got an incredible meal. The menu is fantastically curated, loads of options available. I ordered the burger and fries with cheese and bacon, and everything arrived fresh and piping hot, and tasting delicious! Another of our party ordered the chili, which came with rice and tortilla and was so warming and tasty. The chicken wings were absolutely unreal, so flavoursome and such good quality. There were 10 of us there last night and not one of us had a bad word to say about our meals! I'll definitely be making a return visit here soon!!

Great alternative for those who appreciate good beer and conversation. There's always a good range of beers on tap, with a mix of regular and guest beers to keep things interesting. The food menu isn't huge but caters for most tastes, is served in comfort-sized portions and has always been unfailingly delicious!

Such a class bar, really great food, great service - Aidan especially ... My recommendation is to try drinking all twenty beers on tap at once. 10/10

There is an extremely rude barman who shouted and scolded me for closing the front door last Saturday. A few others were cold as they tried to close it too but we were verbally attacked due to ‘smoke coming from the kitchen’. Do they not have ventilation there? The bar manager sort of apologised but defended the barman for his behaviour. He said it just needed to be left open for 15 minutes but we had been there for over an hour. Attitude issues! Won’t be back.

James tries his absolute utmost and is a pleasure to be served by, but the young male barman with the beard and ponytail is rude and agressive within earshot of me. There didn't use to be anything like that but unfortunately things have slipped and I never order food there any more. It's a great shame that young barman is allowed to drive away customers and I've read some of their reviews about how he has treated them. Shocking.

It's great Irish bar. I like Kronbakher beer with Holme fry.

Never been here before. Just a negative experience really. Popped in for a quick pint on way home from town because I heard they had an extensive range of beers, all being obscurily named. A barman called Yan I believe served us and I asked what his top lagers on draft were, he immediately rolled his eyes and pointed at the menu and told me to read it. I didn't know what any of the beers were so I asked for his recommendation on a beer, something not too strong, and his response was "I'm not your mother, pick your own beer" asking for any further advice I got redirected to the menu once more. I replied we'd go somewhere else for a drink. While my friend payed for his pint I noticed Yan serving another group and handing out samples of different beers? While im made to feel embarrassed for asking a barman what beers he'd recommend, won't be back.

Good quiz on a Thursday evening

Feeling peckish so popped in with my dog after a walk. Chilli Loaded Chips were delish.

Great choice for pub food and decent prices. Nice that the place isn't dominated by sports screens. The staff are very knowledgeable about the drinks and were helpful at helping me find a lagar that I would enjoy.

The Galway Bay beers are the only reason to come here, often get ignored when waiting to be served whilst the staff finish their conversation behind the bar and they're almost always miserable. So yeah, if you want a decent red ale or IPA come here, just don't expect anything else good.

Looks like a new bar with alot of space and plenty of craft beers to chose from. The building is very clean on inside. The beer hall is also dog friendly and the food is nice.

Had a small meal here. So many kinds of beers looks amazing. Staff was friendly recommend different beers. The fried sweet potatoes are very good but spicy chicken wings are so so.

Casual pub atmosphere. Nice people.

It’s a great bar for craft beer, with a lively, cool atmosphere and awesome staff. Unfortunately, the food really isn’t up to par, especially for its price point.

We had a table reserved for 9 for the six Nations match. Excellent craft beer. Good value food with great table service excellent staff great.

Nice craft beer bar with a good selection on tap and in the fridge. Weekends it can get rammed and gets incredibly noisy. Limited seating and the long table which is parallel to the bar makes it hard navigating your way back with drinks and dodging others on the way to the loos. Great to have a bar like this in the area ❤

This place is rocking, craft ale and food (I haven't tried the food but it is popular). We have been sharing ourselves in other bars so being back for the first time in a good few years is great. I live local so during the frosty period we have just had and, the lack of local transport, buses were running but very infrequent. It was great to discover that the bar is better than it was. I will be back in now I have rediscovered a wee gem of a bar. When it was the Brewbot a lot of people said it wouldn't last, thanks to Galway Bay Brewery it has lasted and will continue to do so. Busy but room to sit and chat. Drop in sometime you will not regret it.

Excellent selection of beverages, good background music & decent facilities. Have reduced rating by one star due to some eejit deciding to place seating at the side of the bar on a busy day forcing pedestrians to walk in the road. Totally unacceptable & unsafe. Whilst most of their staff are polite & friendly there are one or two who are incredibly rude which really let the side down, this and the fact that they decided to occupy a public footpath endangering public safety, point towards poor management. Edit. Reducing rating further as staff are mistreating customers they don't respect as much as the mummy and daddies , credit card gang. If Galway Bay is to be summed up in a bar, good job. - once beautiful, now swamped by entitled tourists, blow ins and landed gentry. Locals may not be welcome.

We'd wanted to call in for a while as it looks like a popular place so finally visited for a few drinks on a Friday evening. It has a fun vibe and the food menu looked nice. It's dog friendly which I think is great. The drinks/bar service is good and they have a range of IPAs if you like that. Will definitely return for dinner some time soon.

Beautiful Sunday roast dinner properly cooked and well priced.

Fantastic selection of beers with knowledgeable staff. Layout is dominated by the central beer hall like table. But there are plenty of smaller tables too. Plenty of games available the same as sister pub Against the grain.

This place is awesome!! Great service, great food, great prices and atmosphere. I keep going back.

Nice pub with really good food. Second visit and we had chicken and chorizo linguine fabulous!. Reasonably priced. Two meals, 2 cocktails and pint of beer and cider £51. Staff really friendly and helpful. I forgot to leave a tip so apologies to the staff. Nice atmosphere. Well worth a visit.

Beautiful pub, beautiful inside, have to get a tea or coffee sometime. It's a beautiful pub inside, sort of posters and alternative things you would not see in other pubs, Dr who poster if I recall correctly. Nice staff too always a bonus...no need to do a risk assessment..which is good , so quite relaxed. .. 🙏🙂

Despite being absolutely rammed due to the all Ireland match and belsonic, we had drinks outside and our server (didn't get his name but he had a shaved head) looked after us beyond the call of duty. He warned us service would be slow (it really wasn't) and kept tabs on a table inside for us. We were about to give up when he informed us a table was ready. The food was great, the best I've had out in a long time and all the servers were beyond nice and attentive. We found a new local and can't wait to get back.
