Been twice recently, the chips were tiny crispy, sharp bits of potato, barely edible. The batter hard and dry, very little fish. Worst ever fish and chips. After Charlie and Maria this place has certainly taken a huge nose dive into the "don't waste your money" stakes. Terrible.

Family box. Huge portion of chips, 3 jumbo sausages and 3 'mini' fish ( they were as big as a normal fish.) Very tasty and good value.

Absolutely disgusting, I ordered a wrap and got home, and I had paper hidden inside my wrap so when I had a bit all I could taste was paper . Never go there again part from going to demand a refund

This place has gone down hill I wouldn’t give it one star. The last food we had the fish was all batter hardly any fish only skin. The chips are pale and hardly cooked. Will not be having anything else from here.

Not the best place to eat in my opinion as sometimes the food isn't the best quality however won't really complain as most chippies within Chesterfield are like this. The food is alright most of the time plus cheaper than most other places so there is that factor especially with the cost of living nowadays. The new manager is doing a good job with turning the chippy around as before he was the manager the food etc was just abysmal.

Great F&C shop we bought at lunchtime in nice card containers and went to the local country park to eat them. Best we've eaten for a long time. Superb! A1+! Cheers - J&E

Chips were the best from here but still not a patch on previous times. Kebab meat had to be rewarmed on a grill plate and definitely not the tastiest. The chicken meat was 4.99 and a small portion too. Overall, not going back

Wow! What a wonderful find! Went 11:30am yesterday just after they opened, clearly popular based on a) people there before us and b) food prepped ready for a bush fish Friday Both had mini fish and chips with gravy, my lord it was delicious! I really don't like skin on fish but this was the first time I couldn't tast it in a bad way! The batter was so tasty, and it was all hot, fresh and yummy and the chips were great, portion size was amazing for a mini fish and chip deal £5.50! Very happy definitely will be back to try more items out - many thanks

Easily the best chippy in a 10 mile radius (possible further, but who drives 11 miles for chips?). Huge portions, and good quality food. Can't comment on the kebabs or fish, as we're vegetarian.

Unfortunately every time I've called for an order just recently there has been something missing or the wrong item entirely. ...I've used this chippy religiously for years so I'm a bit sad to write this but I think it's time for a change.

Ordered 2 items. Both wrong. Kebab with no onion was covered in onions... large mixed meat and chips was just a small bit of meat and no chips. Oh and the meat had bones in. Worst ever

What is going on, this chipshop was hard to beat, not anymore. Prices have gone up, portions have nearly halved. Really gone downhill.

September 2022.... Fabulous fish and chips. Good portion sizes. Very crispy batter. I don't like the fish where the batter is soggy and usually end up leaving it. Definitely not the case here as I was able to eat - and enjoyed - every bit as did all our party. Staff were very friendly too. We will definitely be back!

New to the area so went here on recommendation. Fabulously cooked food and generous portions. Prices are competitive and the staff always friendly. We won't need to look anywhere else for a local chippy!

We ordered and paid for or meals the products had been cooked however 4 people that came after me where served and took there food. The portion size was half the size from the previous week. The way one of the ladies spoke to 2 young lads was horrendous Infront off a shop full of customers and other staff members. I can safely say I will NOT be returning.

I came here to try the chips shop as I realised the chip shop had changed hands. My order was as follows; large cod, donor kebab, large chips, potato fritter and a large sausage. My family said the cod and kebab were nice hence the 2 stars. Sadly that is where the positives end. The chips were stone and I mean stone cold. I wonder how when it was a lunch time visit, less than an hour after they opened. The potato fritter was so dry and old I wondered if they had found it down the back of the sofa a few days prior. The sausage didn’t have any taste, so perhaps a taste test is needed on items that are sold. I put the chips straight in the bin as no one wants cold chips, the same fate befell the potato fritter but I did eat the sausage after smothering it in Tabasco sauce in a vain search for flavour.

Ordered a big feast special through their online app this morning (foodbooking). It directs you to the app when you click on their website if you Google North Wingfield Fish Bar First time I've noticed it.. Requested it for pick up at 13.30. The food was ready and hot, bang on time. The food was great and the portions were good. Good value for what you get. I'll certainly order in advance using this app again, as Friday afternoon queues can be long when you go somewhere popular.

Decided to have our usual fish and chips and see how the new owners fair. Fish and chips have shrunk in size, I thought my fish was a tiddler, very disappointing as we go out of our way to go there. the new owners have decided to spend money on the property, so spend less on the food. Probley wont be our favourite chip shop now.

Gone right downhill won't be going again taken over by some previous owner apparently what they done come back to run it into ground absolutely shocking food and service

Had a mixed kebab, the Donner Meat tasted a bit fusty and the chicken meat and chicken tikka was a bit dry and cold, not very good at all.

Has been taken over by some previous owners and the service and quality are terrible now. Staff are so rude. Food is dry, poor quality and tasteless. The mini fish was hard and 90% batter, almost no fish. Shame, as it was some of the best chippy & service I'd had a couple months ago with the Italian guy and team.

I usually love this chippy especially the Chinese Curry Sauce, the meal I had was mini fish special with Chinese Curry Sauce and it was fine on the day, but the next day I was really sick from the fish and was poorly for 2 days. So I wont be going up there again

Been for fish and chips today and was amazed how he still has staff. The food was ok but the service from the man in charge was not called for. He talks to the staff like dogs and he needs to have a think. Wont be going again because the rudeness to me and his staff.

I have used this chippy for many years, always consistent good quality fish and chips, always the same rude service! The owners - past and present - are always very pleasant and friendly, but the ladies who serve are brusque, unsmiling and not at all welcoming. Shame.

The person serving was very polite and helpful, then it went downhill. The chips were OK and the fish so so, a bit dry but edible. However, the batter was like soggy, chewy cardboard (yes as a kid I had soggy chewy cardboard ugghh) then I suppose I should have known that when the 'fryer' put the fish back in to warm through. The peas were the brightest, greenest peas I've ever seen in a chip shop and absolutely tasteless. I suppose if you're starving then shop here but if you're looking for a tasty treat look elsewhere, I will be. 2 stars is for the server with a little towards the chips. How it's got 4.6 stars I'll never know.

After my review looks like it been removed I would not recommend this chip shop to anyone as you get ripped off and the food is not up to much . They don’t like honest reviews but being charged £15.50 for sausage and chips twice and a mini fish special never again TOTAL RIP OFF

I would not recommend. The food was soggy like it had been sat there for a while and beyond that the man who I assume was the boss was very rude to all customers who walked in and staff. Even if the food was good I would not go back on the basis of the treatment customers appear to get and staff.

Been before and thought the meal was very nice. But on the last occasion I was to have fish and chips. While I was eating them I was concerned about a flavour of a taint almost sour flavour to the fish. I thought nothing more but to eat almost all of the it. Well it had been hot weather and it had crossed my mind if at all it was fresh. The next morning is to say left to the imagination. I was in great need of the bathroom.. I can't say it's put me off the place but I won't be having much more than chips..
