We tried to get a table at 8.45 to be told that they close soon when they advertised close time is at 10pm. Very disappointed. We'll spend our money elsewhere.

Really delicious food. Delicate flavours, but still very tasty! Clean and simple decor. Our server was clearly very experienced and genuinely caring. We really wanted to try a range of the appetisers, and our server was very accommodating. He allowed us to swap out some of dishes in the combination starter, to suit our tastes. The duck pancakes were homemade which was an unexpected but very nice touch, really elevated the meal. The homemade dumplings and the homemade noodles were also very delicious. Another favourite was the salt and pepper pork ribs - full of flavour and the meat was very tender. The only thing that could have been improved was that it was very quiet. The music was very low, so we felt as if we had to whisper and keep quiet so as to not disturb the other diners. Maybe they could turn up the music a little bit? Overall, one of the best Chinese meals I’ve eaten in London. Would definitely recommend.

I recently visited North China Restaurant, a charming Chinese restaurant that offers a delightful range of traditional dishes. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with tasteful décor that evokes the feeling of a true Chinatown eatery, which immediately set a great tone for the meal.

The food is sub par at best Kept us waiting for over 30 minutes after we ordered. Meanwhile all the takeaway dishes were coming out one after the other. … We literally ordered vegetables and rice, not a hard one to get out quick. Not impressed at all and won’t be returning.

Food was delicious, we had the following and would recommend all: Jade prawn dumplings Salt pepper squid Sea spiced aubergine Chicken and cashew nuts Prawn and black bean sauce Egg fried rice Plain noodles The service was very attentive. We ordered Jasmine tea, which was replenished multiple times during the meal. Definitely a local favourite because it was very busy and there were multiple delivery drivers collecting food. This is our second visit to North China Restaurant and will definitely be returning.

An excellent lunch of Peppered Soft-shell Crab, Hot & Sour Soup, Battered Plaice in Garlic & Chinese Wine Sauce, Kung Po King Prawns, Sea Spice Aubergine with Chilli. All the dishes were amazing but the fish is particularly special. Lovely staff and a relaxing light jazz soundtrack to our Sunday meal. Utterly brilliant place, never been disappointed. They do a very good NZ Sav Blanc by the glass. / update : peking battered fish in garlic and kung po king prawn still go it - amazing

Mediocre, British Chinese takeaway place disguised as a restaurant. The food is edible but nothing authentic and the menu is full of the nations’ favourite Chinese takeaway items. Overpriced small portioned dishes, would not return again. The rice was the worst I’ve had in an East Asian restaurant.

Have eaten here a few times over the years. It is not cheap, but the food is good. I did otice the portion sizes getting smaller every time though. Ordered a takeaway yesterday, again, portion was even smaller, can no longer justify spending that much on such small portions, ridiculous.

Best Chinese food in London. Not even close.

I order a meal to take away. Restaurant was busy but the wait was fairly short which was good. I ordered duck with pineapple, rice and a dish of steamed greens. The duck dish was very, very poor. The quality of the duck meat was awful… like something you would serve to a dog. To add extra insult the dish was almost tasteless. The rice was average at best. The greens were good. If I hadn’t been so tired and hungry I would’ve 100% taken it back and asked for a refund. Very poor.

Had a meal here recently as friends live over the road. It was a bit hit and miss I think due to the fact it was very busy. No saki available when asked then asked why, told oh yes we do have some. So out it came. Dishes delayed coming out and repeatedly asked. Eventually they came. There was only 5 of us. The food however was ok The duck was average. The ribs were not good. We don't get to see each other much for meals out so it was a real shame.

We had a great experience here today. I highly recommend the peking duck it was fantastic, as was the service we received from our waitress. We will definitely be back!

TINY portions! Considering they are on the expensive side compared to other Chinese restaurants, I was surprised when the dishes can in the small size plastic containers. It’s not often I am still hungry after ordering Chinese food, but this was the first. Also random coriander in one of the dishes, not commonly used in Chinese dishes and made it taste awful to be honest. Won’t be ordering again, plenty of better options out there.

An excellent authentic Chinese restaurant. The food was superb every item. Very well presented and good portions. A little expensive but really worth it. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars overall is because the tables are too close and everyone can listen to everyone's conversation.

In a city where it feels like Szechuan cuisine has been dying out as Thai, Japanese and Korean find modern favour, there's something really wonderful about discovering the kind of Chinese restaurant you remember from childhood and still thriving. The food in North China is excellent. A menu that plays all the favourites, from prawn black bean to shredded chilli beef to delicious siu mai. We finished with a classic - toffee apple fritters with vanilla ice cream - and I was immediately transported back to being a kid. The service is also great, and the atmosphere was only mildly worsened by a rather loud table nearby. I doubt that's a normal challenge, however - it's clearly a local favourite, with almost every table taken up by couples and families on return visits quietly enjoying a much loved treat. This is comfort dining at its best.

Ordered off Deliveroo it’s quite a fair bit away from where I live. Thought I’d give it a good go but I don’t really rate this place same with the food it just tasteless. I’m very picky when it comes to Chinese food because I have tasted proper authentic Chinese food and they are just not. I may be biased but the prices are also VERY expensive for what little amount of food they give you. Just avoid and spend your money elsewhere.

Five of us came for dinner. We had a lot of lovely food. When it arrived, it immediately became clear that the food was a step above your average Chinese restaurant. The food tasted freshly cooked and wasn’t your run-of-the-mill Chinese takeaway quality. The duck was excellent with the homemade pancakes. The beef with black bean sauce and the garlic green beans were lovely. The service and atmosphere wasn’t quite up to the same standard. The staff did what was needed, but weren’t particularly friendly or hospitable. The tableware was fine, but the seating was fairly cramped with covid-era plastic screens separating the tables. Overall, was a nice evening.

Every dish executed perfectly . It's a restaurant as opposed to a greasy takeaway . It's quite expensive but you are getting what you pay for . Lovely staff who take pride in their work .

I'm so sorry but this was a bland and boring restaurant experience. Went in early evening, just a few tables. The music - one song, on repeat, very tinny, very fast. The food - came one dish at a time - so one diner was served when the others had finished. The taste - bland! What a shame, it's a lovely looking restaurant with friendly staff and looked clean and welcoming. But no one asked us how the meal was. Maybe we visited at chef's break time....

Disgraceful and deeply disrespectful service. Bitterly disappointed. We've been visiting here for years, and have only recently noticed a drop in levels of service. The male waiter/manager was rude and confrontational over details of our table booking. Constant eye-rolling by waitress upon any normal polite request such as "excuse me, may I have a spoon please?" And whatever you do, don't ever mention here that you feel like you're being treated rudely... can say from first hand experience that you'll be gaslit and told that if you don't like it you can leave!! Reading some of the reviews, it doesn't appear that our experience is a one-off & it appears they are unwilling to ever admit to their mistakes. We will never eat here again. *edit - I can't respond to the restaurant's response directly, but given their response am further shocked - we were directly told that we hadn't booked a particular table when we had, were effectively accused of lying and, when raised being treated rudely, were now being told we were the ones being rude and aggressive - which was simply not the case and a further case of gaslighting all under the pretence of a polite response - something not afforded to us in the restaurant. If you value respect and professionalism in a restaurant experience - avoid at all costs!

Upon walking in, my family and I were greated with warm smiles from staff. They were accommodating and frequently checked on our table. The food was absolutely delicious. My family and I had no problems with it. It was well cooked, tasted amazing and was filling.

A wonderful local spot with great food and ambience. The shredded beef in chilli sauce, salt & pepper prawns and chicken & cashew dishes were particularly amazing. When we asked how long they had been open, the manager told us the same family have been running it for 47 years. It’s clear to see why it’s so popular - really friendly staff, a good selection of food (with halal options) and clean bathrooms.

Their customer service is a disgrace, we typically ordered menu B and changed the cold dish for salt and pepper squid, this was a hassle free agreement for years but suddenly there have been a couple of occasions where they have somehow decided to deliver the order without the squid or spare ribs?! When calling them to explain that if the receptionist accepted our order, they are obliged to deliver what we paid for, they have argued very rudely and declined. We have bought hundreds of takeaways from them over the years, and they have shown us no respect. Won’t be ordering from them again. The food is amazing, so it is a great shame.

They cancelled my order and I still can’t get my money back. I ordered food for over 100£ on Friday evening. They took my money, then called me to cancel the order and said they would refund me. On Saturday morning, as I didn't see any money coming in, I called them and they said I would get the refund by Monday. On Tuesday afternoon, as I still didn't see any money coming, I called them again, to which they said they hadn't processed any refund yet. Only after I chased them twice, I got an email from Worldpay (the payment system they use on their website) saying the refund was processed, only on Tuesay afternoon. Based on internet research, it might take up to 6 weeks to get a refund through Worldpay. When I called on Tuesday, I suggested they could pay me back by bank transfer which would have been faster, to which they refused, saying that they needed to refund me by using same system I had payed with. They didn’t even apologise for the delay. I will never buy from this restaurant again.

Decent Chinese but wayyy too expensive for what it is. We paid £55 for some prawns, noodles, dumplings and beef. All of these were acceptable to below average (beef was chewy, prawns were good, dumplings very mediocre), I expect to get great food at that price and it didn't deliver on that. If it was like 20% cheaper, we'd definitely go back. Fairly small portions as well. Either up the quality or lower the price

Had to write this review just as I’ve finished my food because it was so good. This was the best Chinese cuisine we have ever had by a country mile ! Can’t knock anything, I’d seriously recommend this place to anyone.

As a Chinese native, and from a family of professional chefs who ran our own take away, food quality and customer service go hand in hand. I heard many great things about this restaurant so was very excited to try out a new place that was close to home and where I could celebrate my whole family coming together in a long time. So, to my utter disappointment, I experienced what can only described as the most appalling customer service I have received in London. Firstly, the staff. I'm sorry but would it hurt for you to smile. You are on the floor greeting customers and the quite frankly cold looks was off-putting. Then came the shocking customer service. Ok, so you are all mandarin-speakers but to be dismissed because we are Cantonese-speaking was downright rude. There was a misunderstanding of to whom to order with as at one point, we had two waiters dealing with our table but the response we got from the male waiter would never have stood at my family business. The poor customer service ruined the meal which I have to say actually was lovely. Full credit goes to the chefs who sadly were in the back producing quality work. The chefs were utterly let down by the shambolic, unprofessional wait staff who did not deserve the service charge. In fact, the only tip I give is: get some training in professionalism and high standards of customer service. Then, maybe, just maybe you will get a better overall review. Will I go back? Absolutely not.

Dined at North China last night and I was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very hospitable, food was affordable and delicious - not too sweet, oily or heavy as I previously experienced in other Chinese restaurants. The restaurant was also very clean and the atmosphere was lovely. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner. Will go again!

Amazing experience! The restaurant itself is very pretty and neatly located near the centre of Acton. The staff is extremely friendly and attentive and they work very hard to fulfill your wishes! The food is amazing (especially the crispy duck). I’ve been coming here for many years and it’s always been a perfect experience! 10/10 would recommend to everyone I know!

Went in for my Birthday meal , food was pretty average and portion sizes are pretty small for the price point , I wouldn’t even recommend this for casual dining better prefer local chinese takeaways , customer service was top notch ✅

I've been coming here for years with my family and the food and service has always been excellent! They always cater for the different dietary requirements in our family including vegan and gluten free options. We've requested soy sauce to be swapped with tamari to make some dishes gluten free which has never been an issue!

Our first experience was very good, staff is attentive and on the ball at all times. The food is also prepared very well and tasty. Shame the place closes so early and they have turned us down for dinner on our second try, an hour before closure, on a Saturday.

Double cooked beef of £15 in the size of a deliveroo receipt. Same for the noodles. Please stop claiming that your portions are of big size

Pleasantly surprised as it's hard to find a nice dine in Chinese but this is definitely one. Had a very nice welcome and all the staff were extremely nice and the restaurant is very clean with a good atmosphere. The food came out pretty quick and it was beautifully presented, very tasty and I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the best chicken in black bean sauces I've ever had and the spicy chicken sizzler was fantastic as well. Safe to safe I'll definitely be returning some time soon 💯👌🏻

First of all, you immediately feel that you are in a restaurant. North Chinese restaurant is located in central Acton and looks like a family-run business. There are a total of 10 tables for 4 people and 2 people inside. service standard is at a good level and conforms to jargon. Definitely nice to start with traditional Chinese jasmine tea. The starters are great, especially shrimp and tofu. For the main course again I recommend fried egg rice and mapo tofu.

First we have been here, went with friends who have been going here for a number of years. Not a large place but was very popular on the Saturday night we went. Service was excellent along with the pace the food was delivered. Great menu, plenty of selection and a good price. Certainly recommend this restaurant .

Busy place, good job we booked even on a Wednesday at 8pm, surprising long list of wines to choose from. We chose from the chefs choice set menu and really enjoyed the food. Ended up being last customers to leave at 10.30pm. We will look forward to going again!
