The wonderful Alison and Andrea of nonna caterina produce food with love. Each weeks menu arrives on their Facebook page like clockwork on Sunday evening, we preorder ASAP and they deliver to our home on a Saturday. I discovered them during lockdown and I can’t tell you how much it helped our tiny family, by having such a delicious treat to look forward to every Saturday! If you are lucky to live in the Brecon Beacons national park, and haven’t tried them yet, you do not know what you are missing!

A very happy evening at The pop up in Talgarth at The Mill for a family reunion for 17 of us. Brilliant as it was a set menu & just arrived for us all to eat. Delicious starters & pudding. To be honest the main was a little bland but I'm pretty sure all our plates were eaten clean! Alison could not have been more helpful when I was organising this family outing & her lovely husband is the 'real Italian deal' Our only criticism is that the Mill does not have toilet facilities so diners have to walk to the public loos which isn't great on a wild windy night in the pitch dark. This is no reflection on Nonna Catarina as this was a pop up!

While visiting friends near Brecon, they took us to this charming pop-up restaurant and we loved every minute. The setting is beautiful in an Granary that felt like you'd fallen into the French countryside, and with large group wooden tables and a room full of around 30 people it gave a convivial atmosphere while still maintaining a degree of privacy within our own group. We arrived early to drink some fizz in the garden, while we were shown some of the flowers from the garden that we'd be eating in the salad later. The whole meal was lovely, but particularly the fresh pasta which was amazing - our menu consisted of antipasto, tortelloni, fresh salad with flowers, chicken with aubergine, blackberry and rose rotolo (like a roulade), ending with lemon verbena tea. For £26 per person as a set menu and bring your own drink, it made for a wonderful evening and I would highly recommend, though book well in advance!

Amazing Saturday supper at the pop up restaurant at The Baker's Table, Talgarth Mill. A set menu which looked appealing and then exceeded expectations. Just the best Italian food I've ever eaten anywhere. Fresh, delicious, unusual and visually stunning. Casual dining at it's best. We were invited to take our own wine and there was no charge for corkage. Talgarth Mill, please book them again. This was a real treat for Talgarth locals and visitors. Can't wait to try their food elsewhere. Highly recommended.

The Nonna Caterina pop-up at the Table gallery in Hay is amazing and great value. Communal dining at a large wooden table, surrounded by great art. Delicious Italian food, made using the best local ingredients. I'm a gluten intolerant vegetarian and they have always taken care to prepare me suitable alternatives, including handmade gluten free pasta which is just delicious. I can highly recommend dining with Nonna Caterina - you won't regret it, but you may need to book in advance as I think they get busy.

We visited the pop-up restaurant at Ty Mawr. In beautiful surroundings, following a walk around the kitchen garden, we were seated with strangers at a communal table and had the most wonderful evening! It's BYOB, and we were brought course after course of perfection, beautifully and simply presented: amongst the finest Italian food I've had including on trips to Italy! The lamb was quite simply sublime. If you love real Italian food, this is the place for you.

We went to this restaurant with mixed feelings as reviews weren’t that great but we gave it a try . We were the only customers on arrival but the waitress was less than enthusiastic . Food was good and freshly cooked but the place lacked atmosphere . A customer behind us asked if there was any soup . Waitress replied “ is it on the menu”( you think she would know or was she being facetious.) she then said “ it’s too hot for soup. Try the caprese or the tart “ . Had I been him I would have walked out.
