Excellent food. We had Momo Dumplings. Chefs Special Curry. Pilau rice and the wonderful Peshwari Naan. Very delicious and excellent service.

Been going here for years and we love it. Only downside is the tandoori chicken is not like tandoori chicken you get elsewhere - it's fried and doesn't taste like tandoori chicken.

Staying at the Crieff Hydro self catering accommodation for a short Christmas break. Ordered by phone a carry out one evening for family at The Gurkha's on the main street of Crieff. Had Poppadoms & Dip, The Gurkha's special, pilau rice, buttered chicken. They also added in nan bread. Very grateful. The food was delicious and plentiful for 4 people. Cost good. We have visited before and ordered from this carry out. Food was prepared and made in good time. They have an extensive menu. When back to Crieff & in self catering will revisit. Recommend. Thanks.

Purchased a meal for my family, portion sizes were very large. During the night I was ill, I have since been very unwell 2 days during our family holiday. I’m sad to say I will not purchase food from this establishment in the future. Staff were very nice and polite.

Delicious food and pretty authentic. We ordered Himalayan Paneer and Tadka dal. Both were delicious. Paratha for the children were home made. Would certainly visit again.

Came here with my boyfriend for my birthday, food was absolutely delicious! I had the chicken chasni and he had the lamb rogan josh, and we shared a very generous mixed pakora for a starter. Excellent value for money, we will definitely be back!

The food here is absolutely banging! I don't ever use that term but here, this place, the food is just amazing. I've been going to the Gurkha's for several years now and their quality has not changed. You get fantastic portion sizes every time. When we get take away, we always have food left over and the flavors are incredible. I genuinely can't recommend The Gurkha's enough. And they're staff are wonderful. They're so nice and polite and they really look after you although they are prone to being packed with customers so please be patient if something isn't done in 2 seconds. It's sooo worth the wait!!

I consider myself a curry expert lol. The Gurkas food was spot on, you can usally tell a good curry house from their poppadoms and these were perfect. Both of us had a chef special which were perfectly cooked. Nice clean well presented restaurant don't let the outside fool you.

We were recommended elsewhere, but preferred the better choice of dishes on offer here. Really pleased we did because the quality of the food was second to none! Very generous quality ingredients in all the dishes we ordered. The chicken tikka bhuna was amazing, and their naan breads are enormous and delicious. Definitely recommend giving it a try, we'll certainly be back! Well done guys!

The owner was very close and kind to us, the food is something truly unique in Crieff, we’ve been in Nepal and India and this is pure Nepalese restaurant , we highly recommend this place.

Arrived in my work clothes ( apologies), Wednesday evening, two other people in, treated like a piriah. Hydrated chicken passed off as Tikka! Don't always take people by their appearance!

Food is amazing, so tasty and presented beautifully. Service a little sliw sue to the high level of take away calls and pick ups. Food worth it though 😋

Great Indian in Crieff! A friend and I booked onto the restaurant on Saturday evening and really enjoyed our meal. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive, the food was freshly made and well presented. As mentioned by others the portions are large but the staff happily provided a takeaway box so I could enjoy my leftovers later! The meal was very reasonably priced too at only £55 for poppadoms two courses and drinks for both of us. Will be back next time I’m in Crieff. Thanks again guys!

Food was absolutely amazing and even my husband enjoyed it and believe me he's hard to please...food was fresh and served piping hot which I really enjoy..can't praise it highly enough..Will definitely be back and if your ever in crieff give it a go you will not be disappointed..

Lovely food well worth visiting

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. My partner and I arrived in Crieff quite late on a Sunday and after settling into our air BnB were struggling to find somewhere to sit in for food - we received several recommendations from locals for The Ghurka's. The atmosphere in the restaurant was so chill - a lovely relaxed and spacious vibe, with some chilled blues playing. Our server was very welcoming and friendly, and we ordered some vegetable samosa and mushroom pakora to start - both of which were delicious but particularly the pakora was exquisite, a lovely texture, the perfect consistency and a full rich flavour. Such a simple dish done so well just set us up so nicely. Then we ordered the King Prawn Korma and the Butter Chicken - both of which were absolutely phenomenal. Both relatively mild dishes, but still so full of flavour and surprisingly sweet and delicious. The king prawns were perfectly cooked, firm yet soft, and the chicken was beautifully cooked and seasoned. The sauces felt more authentic than any we have tried. And the side of palak paneer was the perfect accompaniment, along with the crispy and buttery garlic naan. Overall a wonderful welcome to crieff and highly exceeded the already glowing recommendation - the food was delectable and the presentation was lovely. Would definitely recommend that anyone visiting sits in - we will definitely be back!

Excellent variety very authentic

Phoned at 21.50pm to order a delivery to be told they are closed. Google states they close at 22.30 every day except a Tuesday they are closed. I asked why they answered the phone if they are closed and was told someone may be booking a table for tomorrow. Hmm, think you need to update your information on your website and google if this is the case.

Got takeaway from here while visiting Crieff. Food was lovely. Picked up from restaurant and it looked like a nice place, staff were helpful.

Poor communication and customer service. Tried telephone to place a take away order 6.30pm this evening (Friday 20.07.21) no answer so drove down. Initially ignored by the staff then asked what I wanted. Said I wanted to place an order for takeaway and was asked why I didn't phone. Told them because no-one answered the phone, he bluntly answered were busy. He then told me it would be up to 2 hours for our takeaway. Obviously a very popular restaurant / takeaway who can afford to turn customers away. Popped across to Royal Tandori, friendly staff and takeaway ready with 20 minutes. Was also delicious. Will be returning to Royal Tandori next time!

We were really looking forward to it. But waited half hour after booking a table and staff didn't even acknowledge us let alone took our order. Such a shame as had good food reviews. More interested in answering phone for take away orders so we left.

We ordered the butter chicken (madras hot) and the lamb koroti (chefs special). They were simply amazing. The lamb was tender (which is rare I find in an Indian takeaway) and the butter chicken was the best we have ever had. We are visiting from London so were not expecting to find a curry that blew our socks off!! Amazing food, amazing portions. Thank you!

Tried to order takeaway twice but could not as the person who answers the phone is neither polite nor does he know how to take an order. Such a shame because the food reviews are good, we are foodies and I had a big order today. So for service (that stopped at ordering food) is zero. In these strange times, when the only contact you have with a restaurant is over the phone while placing an order - a good response can go a long way in building a better clientele and an image. And these two never hurt a business in the hospitality industry !

What can I say, an absolutely banging curry, probably offering the tastiest, biggest portion, best garlic naan, everything. Get yourself down there you won't be disappointed. The chap who runs the place seems like a good bloke too. Curry houses in Perth, take note, this is on a different level

Wow..and i mean wow! Looking for a bite.... I found a meal, the food was so nice, service with a smile too boot. I have the stuffed paratha, it was not greasey and very soft. My travelling companion had the king prawns, this looked good i was told it tasted good. She is hard to please so it must have tasted good. Oh... i forgot the channa pooriwas to die for... soo nice.... Thanks i will come again

It was our 28th wedding anniversary so was looking for something nice. First time here. We hadn't booked so headed there at opening time on a Saturday evening. We were the only ones dining but the takeaway service was busy. I had Seekh Kebab to start and it's probably the biggest Seekh I've ever had. It was lovely too. Wife had Onion Bhajis and they hit the mark as well. Mains were Prawn Dhansak and Lamb Chilli Dry Fry. Both beautiful and the Lamb was anything but dry. Wonderfully tender bits of lamb and so many of them, I reckoned about 15. Pilau rice to accompany, Tarka Dhal on the side and a garlic and cheese naan and a roti. Pleasant staff and polite service. Pretty decently priced to boot. All in all a fantastic meal and we will definitely be back. Made the prefect dining experience for our anniversary. Cheers Brash!!!!

I can't for the life of me understand all these five star reviews. Reading them lends me to think they are not genuine. The food we had last night was shockingly bad and there was absolutely nothing authentic about it. It was without doubt the worst "curry" we have ever had. It was very overpriced rubbish and eating here made us feel we had been ripped off. It certainly wasn't value as has been suggested. Eat elsewhere if you find yourself in Crieff.

I have only ordered from Gurkha's once when we stayed in Crieff hydro hotel last year. Hands down the best curry (ralwa, balti and korma) i have tasted. Luckily for me we are staying again in August so i look forward to eating from here again.

Ordered my first takeaway from here last night. Was absolutely blown away with how good it was! Ordered set meal for 1 with prawn poori, lamb vindaloo, naan bread and chicken pakora. Everything was absolutely delicious and AMAZING value for money. It's now going to be my go to curry place! Staff were absolutely wonderful too! Highly recommend.

It was mostly okay. The real let down was the very very sweet butter chicken. That was unusual and disappointing.

I cannot praise this place enough. I felt from the look of the exterior it should be an authentic dining experience and the reality exceeded this. The dishes looked sumptuous on presentation and the flavours, spices, meat content was in my opinion one of my best experiences, if not 'the best'

Seriously the BEST Tandoori Chicken we have had for an absolute age. Wonderful friendly service . . . . . . . . And all . . . . at a fabulous fair price. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thankyou The Gurkha's Crieff. It's got to be said, you are FEEDERS though!!!! Portions were huge. 🐷🐖🐽❤

Pleasant friendly staff serving reasonable Nepalese and Indian food. To say the dishes were generous would be something of an understatement; two of us ordered a starter and main course with a couple of chapatis each, along with a bottle of Nepalese beer, and found we had at least twice the amount of food that an average person would eat for a meal out. Each of the dishes suffered slightly from the heavy handed use of salt, detracting from the excellent underlying flavours. It was a real shame, and something that could easily be remedied. I intend to visit again, order less and hope a little less salt is deployed, because the restaurant has nice atmosphere.
