An excellent find for cream teas, which was our lunch. Great food, fabulous staff, squashy sofas with a great view. Have never had such great choices for a cream tea.

Excellent service and delicious food. We were made to feel very welcome and were advised about the local area, including the location of a nearby doggie deli! Food was delicious, service impeccable and the decor was tasteful, comfortable and most importantly spotlessly clean. As the weather was not at its best we were encouraged to stay dry, even after we had paid the bill. If ever in the area again would definitely visit. Thank you for an excellent experience.

We went for a Sunday roast which was fabulous. Wonderful 'Nunky' roast potatoes, perfectly cooked meat & vegetables, delicious gravy & the cauliflower cheese...Yummy. The service was well timed, hot plates & piping hot food, all served with a great smile & good humour. We loved it & would highly recommend a visit.

How fortunate are we to have been able to book a table at this fine establishment on one of the few evenings that they open especially for this fantastic roast dinner. What a feast! Choice of meats this evening with turkey or beef (or both if you could manage it) and all the usual trimmings. All this followed by a choice of four puddings, brownie, waffles, apple crumble or a special mincemeat and apple crumble. I chose the latter, my wife had the waffles. Everything was delicious from start to finish, especially I have to say the cauliflower cheese, or should that cheese with cauliflower! The roast is a bargain at £10.95, the whole meal for two of us with puddings and two drinks each was under £46.00. They are holding two nights again in January, February and March after that you’ll have to wait until this time next year. Oh, you definitely need to book! It was packed!! Thanks Mark and Mike. What a lovely place for a welcoming friendly face called in after a visit to a local Xmas fayre.. large pot of tea and delicious cream tea we will visit again .

Managed to get a table for the evening roast. There was a choice of three meats, I had a little of each. There was also a selection of six vegetable dishes. The meal came with all the trimmings and was absolutely delicious. It was real home cooked food with lashings of gravy. The only downside was we were given so much to eat that we didn’t have room for the apple crumble and custard afterwards! The service was excellent with plenty of laughter along the way. I would highly recommend No. 1 to anyone visiting the area.

We love this place for a visit and will drive to Lynmouth just to enjoy the great friendly atmosphere and delicious food ... beautiful sandwiches baked goods cakes and awesome scones . These two guys are just exceptional hosts and the nicest people! . We missed them during the time they were shut and kept popping back to see . Now they have returned we so look forward to visiting when we're in Lynton.!

Fantastic little coffee shop. Owners Mark and Mike always friendly and welcoming enjoying a cheeky banter with customers which makes the experience more enjoyable. Coffee, dirty chi lattes (made to individual tastes - decaf) and tea always lovely. Had a good choice of scones from several sweet choices but unusually a good selection of cheese scones, all of which were delicious. Given a good choice of accompaniment's for both eg jams chutneys for both sweet and savoury.

Most amazing cream tea. A selection of savoury and sweet scones all freshly baked and with a choice of chutneys or jams. Lovely friendly hosts who put up with our (mine) indecision on whether to have sweet or savoury scones, tea or coffee. Would definitely come again.

Finally we were able to visit No 1 after hearing so many good things. I have to say that all we have heard is so true. Lovely welcome from Mark on arrival. We always think it’s so important to have the right atmosphere and the friendly, chatty way in which Mark meets everyone is delightful. My wife had the breakfast and I had a breakfast bap. All cooked to perfection by Mike who came out to say hello, but we think it was more to meet our dogs than us 😄. We absolutely love this place and will be making tracks to come back over our remaining holiday to try one of the amazing looking cream teas. Such a choice. Traditional Cream Tea, Cheese Tea (definitely my choice) or Boozy Cream Tea . Prices are good and quality is excellent. Thank you Mark and Mike! Watch out, we’re coming back!!

We walked in with our dog Reg and we’re met with the warmest and friendliest welcome anyone could wish for. We were looked after so well, the food was great and nothing was too much trouble. I would highly recommend this cafe if you want to feel completely at home and eat great food!

There’s a lot of opportunities for cream teas in the area but this is the one to go to! The owners are so friendly and genuinely interested in you and giving a quality experience. But surprisingly that didn’t make it more expensive. A calming friendly atmosphere that actually chilled the boots out of us. Excellent coffee, gorgeous chai latte, great food. Comfy and clean. Could have stayed all day!

This place is a little gem in Lynton. Mark and Mike are the dream team when it comes to running this cool and laid back emporium. Fabulous coffee and cakes on offer. As well as other delicious delights. Dog friendly too. Children are tolerated.

Here for 1 week. Wife and I had big breakfast on two occasions - best breakfast we've ever had! Clean tables etc. and the two owners very friendly. Relaxed atmosphere and strongly recommend this place. They also do lovely looking cakes but always been too...

So glad we tried No 1 on a wet day in lynton. We had a cream tea that after sampling many we feel is the best in the area, there were many choices but we opted for warm fresh currant scones, clotted cream & strawberry...

Fabulous service, great place and fantastic food. Bring your thinking caps as there are plenty of choices for the cream teas but they are well worth it. Classy decoration and top notch team, thank you very much!
