No 10 Museum Street in Colchester

Managed to snag an outside table with a view of the castle. The chai latte had real depth of flavour and the cappuccino was good. My felafel salad was very good and the felafel were moist instead of dry like in most places. My partners chicken and bacon sandwich was generously filled and all at a very reasonable price. We’d deff go back here when next in Colchester.

I visited with my grandson who is 4. He had a delicious ice cream and I chose a chicken bacon and avocado sandwich on warm sourdough which was really fresh and tasty, served with fresh salad. We had an outside table in the shade and really enjoyed our visit, watching the world go by. The 5 stars is for the wonderful service.. I'd had a very stressful day and the staff were very understanding and kind. I felt much better when I left.. Will go for lunch again

Incredible service throughout visit and excellent coffee. This cafe has a great vibe. Unfortunately food we ordered for breakfast,especially the scrambled eggs (rubbery) was over cooked which was a shame. Didn’t like to say as staff were so nice but needs improvement.

In a world of pain and suffering and general despair, No10 Museum Street offers a place of sanctuary as we make it through the struggles of life. The smashed avocado is decent as well.

A great breakfast from a varied menu, good food, freshly prepared and served by very friendly staff. Plenty of cafes in Colchester to choose from but this is by far the best.

This is a regular place for us to have lunch. This is a great location right next to Colchester Castle. The food is excellent and very good value. Some great cakes with a beautiful Nutella cookie which is a favourite. Coffee is great as us the tea. Very friendly and helpful staff. A lovely open fronted cafe with seating inside and outside. Highly recommended.

A client and myself enjoyed a excellent coffee and Sandwich in this superbly positioned Cafe with a stunning view of the largest Norman castle in Europe, Colchester Castle.. Combine this with friendly staff and barely a minute to the Cadtle and the High street, it was a pleasurable and memorable experience..

Despite the prime location by the Castle this cafe has some of the best food at the most reasonable prices in town. The lunches all come with generous extras of salad etc. The cakes and especially the cookies are delicious. Coffee is great and the service is friendly and first class.

Visited after a long walk into town ending in Castle Park. I was more than ready to sit down and luckily for me, a table was free. Served by a young lady with long dark hair, and a lovely smile. Super helpful and told me about the options that were available. Decided on the soup which came with a generous wedge of bread. Will definitely go again and will recommend to friends.

What a wonderful independent coffee shop that is everything great about the world and a coffee shop experience. It blows me away that people use the coffee shop chains when you have complete perfection and fabulous attention to detail in private businesses like this. The team are really well engaged, friendly, genuinely interested in their guests and their days, and want to ensure everything is perfect for you. Alice looked after us perfectly and has the warmest of smiles to thaw any January day! The luxury hot choc with marshmallows and cream is one of the nicest I ever had and the soup was fab too. Really nice chilled place to chat and catch up with friends, lovely ambience, beautifully clean and great place to chill with a laptop for a long lunch if that’s your thing 😊 Thank you very much, we will be back soon!!

Visted on 3 January for brunch before visiting Castle Museum with 4 year old grandson. So many places hadn't bothered to open but No10 was doing a roaring trade. I had the best mushroom omelette I'd eaten in a long time and grandson enjoyed his scrambled egg and beans on toast. Clean and appealing decor and very friendly, welcoming staff.

No better start to the New Year than a breakfast at Number 10 Friendly greeting, quick friendly service, all dishes freshly prepared and, by far, the best Americano I've ever had. I'll be back!

Delightful little cafe restaurant. Competitive prices and just the nicest staff. Delicious food and great location for exploring the castle park. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

I looked this place up on Trip Advisor. I didnt want a high street or factory outlet if you know what I mean. So I found this place. Its near the castle off the main street. The staff are friendly and relaxed. I noticed a few regulars and they were treated with friendliness and given time - nice to see and a good sign. My breakfast was lovely - no black pudding though which I get is not to everyones taste. However, you can go to places in Colchester and get it in a beef burger with blue cheese and its to die for. The Rose and Crown hotel did it for my breakfast the next day lol. I would have prefered a pot of coffee from a value point of view. I had to buy two separate cups. The reson being that while you wait for your breakfast to be cooked, you drink your coffee or it goes off temp. I like to be able to freshen mine but thats me. My waittress was lovely and chatty like me and that made my visit more memorable - any egit can do good food but its the service that makes you want to come back and also go on trip advisor and write a good or poor review. So its a thumbs up for No. 10 Museum St. Try it out!

What a fantastic location, overlooking Colchester castle. Shop front windows were decorated with nature themed illustrations. The interior was really lovely and had a peaceful feel. Staff were very friendly, service was speedy. Quality of food was excellent, served with a crispy salad.

I always combine a shoppping trip with a breakfast in Number 10; sometimes I even make a special visit for breakfast! Try and find a more delicious eggs benedict elsewhere; you won't! Excellent food and excellent value for money.

A fabulous coffee shop, metres perfectly located between the Castle and High Street. The staff are friendly and the double espresso is excellent. All in a great place and my favourite coffee shop in Colchester.

Came here at 10.45 before Museum slot and had an excellent breakfast/brunch Poached eggs with smashed avocado on the side...suvstntial and kept us going until dinner...Gluten free bread available in request.Good, friendly service.

Great little find by the park, food was home-made and absolutely delicious and the coffee - best I've had in years! Super efficient and friendly service and make sure to try the amazing cakes behind the counter! Will def be back!

This cafe is a hidden gem. Really lovely coffee and the best Chai Lattes ever! The food is so reasonably priced and all home cooked. We ordered toasted chutney and cheese sandwiches (which were delicious!) and ate them in the park. Great selection- something for everyone and the staff are so friendly.Definitely the best cafe in Colchester.

In town for a couple of days and popped in here for breakfast as we waited for the castle museum to open. Great decision by us as a very pleasant stop. Very good range of food with lots of options - vegetarian and vegan in addition to the usual fare. food was served quickly, fresh and tasty. Staff very pleasant, cheerful and efficient. well situated between the park entrance and the town. Would be regular customers if we lived locally but a certain re-visit next time we are in the area.

Having discovered No10's takeaway service during lockdown, this wonderful place became our halfway stop on our government mandated daily exercise. Since then we regularly come every week. The foodnisnclean and tasty, the specials are incredibly good and moreover for me (an unwilling vegan due to allergies) they have a large variety of different milks and butters to make the food with. They are lovely people and I shall continue to return over and over again.

This is a small, unpretentious café, opposite the castle where you can enjoy a view of it whilst you eat (inside or outside). This small corner has a continental feel and is an ideal spot for lunch. reasonably priced and relaxed, it offers a good selection of sandwiches, coffees, milkshakes, icecreams, jacket potatoes etc. We lunched here both days during our visit to Colchester. Friendly staff, comfortable and clean.

Stopped in here for coffee and cold drinks after a visit to the castle, the gate for which is almost opposite here. Very nice drinks served by the friendly staff completed a very nice morning's visit.

I love the fact that you can choose sourdough bread alongside white and granary. Unusual for a cafe. Top quality, fresh food! Yum yum!

We recently visited Colchester Castle Park for a day out and have walked past this establishment a few times but this was our first visit. We was very impressed with the service, the quality of the food and the value for money. All food was freshly prepared to order and the coffee was of a great quality. We managed to all have lunch (family of 5) for around £25 which is cheaper than most coffee chains but of a much better quality. All staff were very friendly and we will definitely be back and continue to visit.

We went for breakfast and ordered eggs benedict and a ham, cheese and mushroom omelet along with cappuccino and mocha. The coffees were good but I've never had eggs benedict where the plate arrived with two eggs on a muffin topped with hollandaise and the ham (or bacon as it is called here) was on the plate next to it - not on the muffin at all. Plus, the ham was cold like it was a cold cut. The hollandaise was a bit overwhelming for me as it seemed to be sprinkled with paprika so I scraped the sauce off one egg, ate that egg, and my husband, who will eat most anything, ate the ham slices. I didn't touch the second egg at all and only ate a third of the muffin on the first egg. My husband's omelet was supposed to have ham and mushroom and he asked for cheese in addition. The ham was all piled in the middle of the omelet and the cheese was sprinkled lightly on top. He could not find any mushrooms.No one came to the table to see if we were enjoying our food. When the waitress came and saw my barely eaten plate, she just asked if I was done then took the plate. When my hubby went to pay, the cashier/waitress asked how things were but that was it. He was busy counting out $$ to pay and never answered her question. Unfortunately, I was still back at the table otherwise I would have spoken up.It's a cute place and had good reviews so we were hopeful. We were quite disappointed. We wanted to really like the place but as it is, we will not go back. Service started out very good and friendly but diminished as more people arrived.

After doing 'the tour' around the beautiful Castle Park, I felt in need of some refreshment and a chance to take some painkillers for my arthritis! Coffee ordered, the lovely lady spotted my pills and asked if I would like some water to help them down. Now this to me is going that extra mile in customer service. It doesn't happen very often!The coffee was great, the menu looked inviting. I think I have found my regular coffee and cake stopover on my next visits!

What a great find. I visited for breakfast by chance as I was walking through castle park and was pleased I did - the service and food were second to none. I had the vegan breakfast which was cooked fresh and there was very little waiting time. Lovely location, friendly staff and the food is very generous in portion with a variety of ingredients both pleasing to the eye and belly! I will be visiting again.

I love having my coffee by the window looking at Colchester castle. Food, coffee and cakes are always up to a very high standard and a customer service is next to none, these ladies are so genuine.

I've been coming here a little over a year now and I've never been disappointed. The team are fantastic, food is great and theres always a warm and friendly welcome. I've found it to be the best place in town for your breakfast/ lunch out( trust me I've tried most of the others) and wont go anywhere else now.

Have started going to this cafe every week to meet up with two good friends. The owner, Kath (sorry if it’s Cath- I forgot to ask how to spell your name!) and other staff are so friendly and happy to have a chat. There are specials every day- my friends had the homemade beef lasagne with salad which they said was delicious and a really good price at £6.95. There are tasty vegan options - vegan breakfast, falafel sandwich, soup, tray bakes every day which are also much much cheaper than other cafes near the Castle. I had a cup of tea, sandwich and cake all for about £8. I highly recommend this place!

This is an attractive cafe a stone's-throw from Colchester castle, with a nice atmosphere and very welcoming staff. We had a bacon sandwich on sourdough and a sausage sandwich on granary bread and both were delicious, as was the decaff and ordinary coffee.

While we were waiting for our breakfast to arrive the local veg delivery arrived. One of the boxes had written on it pura vida which means in spanish simple life, the adopted slogan of Costa Rica. I couldn't help thinking that that place is all about that. Managed by a group of friendly women, smiley, curteous and attentive. The breakfast (full English) was absolutely tasty and generous portions using I believe local and fresh ingredients. I finished my experience with a tasty cup of well made double Macchiato. The view of the Castle and romantic alley made the experience fulfilling. Highly recommended.

Nice clean cafe with inside and outside seating. Near to castle and park. Toilet was clean. Coffee was nice but needed sugar as a little bitter for our taste. Bacon sand which’s was lovely bread was nice and soft bacon was delicious!

So from a speedy breakfast every Saturday and Sunday to a relaxed lunch through the week.all the team in this place are phenomenal. The avocado on sourdough with poached eggs are amazing. The full English breakfast is local and healthy this place is amazing.

Really friendly and welcoming staff. We had the home made cake with two scoops of Marshfield Farm real ice cream and two glasses of excellent fresh orange from local suppliers. Cant fault what was a well spent half an hour.

A delightful place literally a stone's throw from the main entrance to Colchester Castle. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and the menus were on hand even before we had sat down. The tea and toast I had was just right, the whole place was wonderfully laid out and everybody was super nice even other customers never met before were chatting away to us.

I’ve been here 3 days in a ROW!

I have often walked past this cafe but never gone in. Today I took my 18 month old Grandson. We were immediately greeted and made welcome. I was asked if I would like a highchair and it was taken to the table I selected. There was no problem having his lunch I had with me warmed through for him. The coffee and snack I had were delicious, best latte I have tasted in a long time. The whole cafe was spotlessly clean, toilet had baby change facilities which was great. All the staff were efficient and friendly and welcoming. We both were able to relax in a great atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend this cafe and will definitely visit again soon.

We only had cups of tea but the welcome and service was first class. An extensive menu is available to satisfy most palates.

Great coffee, sandwiches and cakes. A small board of daily specials which includes a lovely lasagne cooked on the premises and really nice salads. The staff are delightful and the prices are very reasonable

Wonderful cafe close to Colchester Castle. Very friendly. Superb coffee and cakes. We had lunch here i had a falafel salad which was outstandingly good and my husband had a chicken casserole served with rice which was delicious. We also had coffee and cake also excellent and takeaway sandwiches - some of the best I have ever had. Very friendly staff and very reasonably priced. I would head straight there on a future visit to Colchester!
