Nindys in Colchester

Another first class takeaway from the team at Nindy’s. It was a big order for a family party, but it was to the usual high standard, and prepared very efficiently. The cod is always of an excellent quality. Thankyou!

There is a review on here that says the staff are miserable, I totally disagree.. They always seem upbeat & happy. I'm personally always met with a hello & a smile & on occasion a chat if there aren't to busy, I generally order half a baguette with cheese & either tomato or tuna mayo & a salad box for when I get home.. OMG there food is Awesome & such good value, tbh all other sandwiches pale into insignificance.. Very friendly professional & happy staff, the best sandwiches & salad boxes for miles if not in Essex.. Very Highly Recommended.. I go there everyday 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

fish & chips tasted of lard all soggy not crispy at all not worth £8.70 per portion never again plenty more places which are much better

I rarely eat fish abundant chips but, decided to treat myself: a great treat it was too. The haddock was fresh and sweet. The batter, light, golden and crispy. The chips could have been a bit crispier but they were, like the fish, delicious. I asked for a small portion but there was still enough for 2. I’ll be going back soon.

this was the secound time in colchester in as many mouths my advice is dont waste time trawling around colchester town in search of an elussive fish and chip shop because there are none just type in nindys into waze and it will take you there in about 10 mins with clear roads i want to keep this simple this is real fish and chips the cod is wonderful the chips are perfect thank you nindys for all the love you put into traditional fish and chips .

We have just enjoyed two lovely portions of takeaway haddock and chips. Light crispy batter over fresh well cooked fish with nice fluffy chips and no scrappy bits. That's why this is such a great British favourite. Well done Nindy's!

Nindys is by far the best chippy in Colchester. Service is second to none and great people too! Can’t recommend highly enough.

Excellent quality, reasonable prices, tends to be busy so a phone order saves some of the time queueing.

i liked the food it was very nice, however i thought the workers were a bit rude and unenthusiastic but overall very good

Recently tried as individual and then last night had a business event with 26 portions of fish n chips and 13 sausage n chips. They could not have been better, everything organised superbly, food hot and service superb. Everyone commented on how good food was. Thanks absolutely brilliant and will use again

Best fish and chip shop in colchester,loads of choice and good size portions. Lovely fish. They also do good fresh sandwiches and baguettes through out the day.

All food freshly cooked. Fish is huge and awsome. Served by lovely staff. Fully recommend their food. The burgers are scrumptious too.

I have been using this chip shop since it opened many years ago. Never had a bad portion of fish and chips. Also have a very good sandwich bar where they prepare lovely fresh sanwiches of your choice in front of you. Proof of their popularity is that they are always busy, especially Friday nights. Great portion sizes and good value for money..

Overpriced fish & chips. Used to be good, but the quality has declined noticeably in recent years. The poor fish does not justify the high price. Not visiting again!

Fish n chips lovely , shame about some of the staff have been on several occasions and made to feel if they are doing us a favour , when surely any business would benefit from being made welcome with a smile and a Thankyou !!!

This is my second review of this fish and chip shop. I still cannot fault the service and the quality of the food. I have tried all different things from the fish to a burger and, every time, it is always cooked to perfection.All staff are well trained and very polite.Look forward to the next visit.Please go, you will not be disappointed.

Love the selection of food for lunch at nindys, from a huge selection of sandwich fillings to soup or chips, its a really good place to have lunch.

Like the food but staff could be more customer focussed and not think we are a nuisance .This is the same on every visit staff with attitude

Just had a meal from here and I must say that it was awful. The chips tasted of burnt oil. The battered burger wasn't battered by the time it reached my plate, all the batter had fell off inside the paper wrapping.

Visit here often as I work fairly close, so do a chip-run for colleagues! The food is always really nice. Fresh, hot chips and fish, and often have a filled roll, which again is freshly made whilst you wait... very good. My only niggle is the staff are always so miserable - I don't think I have ever seen one of them smile - you are never greeted with a hello, and rarely get a goodbye... its a real shame as manners cost nothing..

This is the only place I buy my fish and chips. The fish is really tasty and freshly cooked. Had a cheeseburger last week and that was also freshly made and very nice. I recommend that you give them a go. You will not be disappointed

Absolutamente encantador desde aquí, pescado cocinado tan fresco. El único inconveniente es que el propietario es muy miserable, quieres decir pescado tarde en la noche se niega a cocinar. A veces su orden equivocada ocurrió dos veces que no me di cuenta hasta que lo unwrapped en casa.

Been going to Nindy's for years, the food is always spot on, never had an issue! Shame the same cannot be said about the staff, a smile wouldn't hurt! Does not put us off returning time and time again though.

Ive given this place one to many chances, it used to be lovely but now its awful overcooked chips, measly portions and more batter than fish also the people that serve the chips are snotty and miserable wont be returning.

Estado viniendo aquí durante años. Pescado y patatas fritas siempre encantador! Siempre caliente al llegar a casa. Tenía unas cuantas veces, donde la comida no era de calidad y nos han llamado y han arreglado enseguida. Algunos miembros del personal puede ser un poco malhumorado a veces. Aparte de eso, muy recomendable!

Simplemente el mejor - excelente pescado fresco y patatas fritas - hablando con la gente en la tienda algunos de ellos viajar 15 millas para conseguir su cena!

Después de varias recomendaciones llamado gran de amigos no me decepcionó. El pescado estaba fresco, era un precio genial y tuve que era la roca de anguila más cristalina, fresca que he probado nunca! Las patatas fritas eran frescas y bien caliente y el servicio estupendo.

Excelente elección, personal agradable, precios razonables y cocinado a la perfección. Además hogar de una fabulosa tienda de sandwich.

I am very impressed with this Fish and Chip take away. If you have a special diet as they will go out of their way to help you. Very friendly and helpful staff. I do find that they run out of certain items too quickly but I presume it is because of their excellent quality food.

Family has been going there for years! Always excellent food' where it is so busy! Only now and then you have a little wait if there really busy but it doesn't matter! Because it's worth the wait because the food is lovely! Wouldn't go anywhere else :-)

No fish and had to wait with everyone else. There was even people coming in ordering for the evening. Told be ready in 8 mins. It has now been over ten minutes and still waitingI like the food but shocking wait One thing I dislike about chip shops is waiting Thanks

I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened. It's one of the highlights of coming into town for me.The service is just fantastic, they make you feel very welcome, it has a wonderful atmosphere.Very good food for the price and friendly staff especially the asian fellow that serves on Friday evenings.The food is just amazing, and is all freshly cooked in front of you.The choice of food is fantastic too, they have a wide range of burgers, jackets and fillings, and of course fish.

Nindy's offers a fantastic choice of sandwiches, baguettes and subs. Also boxed salads, jacket potatoes and other delights. All of the fillings are freshly prepared by the super team. The Fish & Chip side to the business is personally the best I've had outside of Aldeburgh!!!' Outstandingly crisp batter combined with the freshest of fish.

Love this fish and chip shop. Best I think in Colchester. They are very efficient even when it is so busy. Fish is always gorgeous and battered beautifully. Chips/mushy peas nice. Children's meals also good - nice scampi too.

This was a great fish and chip shop when it first opened but twice lately I have ordered haddock and got something that was definitely not haddock or even cod. It was grey and non-descript

Very impressed with the food, fish was perfectly battered and chips were well cooked. Food came out in a timely manor as well.

I often pop in here for lunch and its always great, great staff/service/food and price what more could you want?

I have been a regular customer at Nindys ever since it opened and before that at the fathers fish and chip restaurant in Braintree,which was even better. Nindys is still the best fish and ship shop in Colchester (even beats Henleys in Wivenhoe) - but the quality of the chips is on the slide. Not being peeled properly. Fish excellent as always. Good service. Parking can be a problem. Nindys is not a restaurant.

Delicious fish and chips always. Service is great nice staff. I like a skinless cod (I'm northern) never a problem for the fryer. Keep up the good work guys

very good prices - staff not particularly friendly but do their job and very quickly - very busy and popular restaurant. Some car park spaces but mainly you have to park on the road. Would recommend.

When finding a good fish and chippy for your family, you go through a couple around the local area, but Nindy's is the best. Even though it's a 3 mile drive, it really is good. You won't ever be disappointed, call and order before you collect it.

Excellent fish and chips. Not too greasy well cooked, and the chips I think are the best take a way in the area. Good portion size. good value for money - not much parking space

Hadn't used this chip shop before as I live the other side of town but as I was in the vicinity decided to give it a try.Had to wait a short while because they were frying the fish to order (much better than being given a piece of dried up cod that had been 'resting' for an hour!), received an unnecessary apology for the wait, and took home my order.I'd ordered standard cod and chips thrice and it cost just £16.35 the lot. On turning onto plate I was amazed at the huge portion sizes - my 13 year-old, famed for his hollow legs, had to leave some and I struggled somewhat.If I had a complaint it was that the portions are too large! Some complaint, eh!

Really nice there food my daughter went and got food for both of us first time it was great would go back again yes .

This is my local chippy and it is the best in Colchester. It is a little off the beaten track and if you were visiting the town centre then you would need to drive to its location but it is worth it.

Always great fish and chips. I'm northern so like my cod skinless - I call on the way and its done for me (8 mins) - great staff, good prices and beautiful cod. Cheers Andy

This fish & chip shp has to be the best in Colchester. Every time you visit although busy where you often have to que the wait is worth it. Fresh chips always and a good variety of fish. The staff are very friendly too.
